Ah, well....I need to read more, obviously

jammy, the pasta and tomato sauce for kids always goes down well in this house; DD was shovelling it in today and it's all organic apparently!

I am being subjected to watching a fishing programme . Am also screaming inwardly

I can't think of a halloween name that maintains my MN persona

Still good though.

DH's interview went well. Thye have asked him to do some online aptitude test, which the is positive. Then if that's OK they'll have him in for a face to face interview and stuff. Fingers crossed.

FiendishFairyFay · 06/10/2008 19:33

Great news Jammy, all fingers and toes crossed for him

JammyOLantern · 06/10/2008 19:45

That's why I try to keep "Jammy" in my anme Daisy.

I did suggest to DH that we go back to the restaurant at ikea to get some better food for the jamlet, but DH had really had enough so we just had to pick from the fast food bit at the exit. I felt rather bad, but she does normally eat better!

I feel terrible. All bunged up, and coughing, and head thumping. Think I'll have to go to bed soon

FiendishFairyFay · 06/10/2008 19:46

Nothong wrong with a few meatballs now and again, Jammy. Probably no worse than sausages, for example.

FiendishFairyFay · 06/10/2008 19:46

that you are feeling so poorly - I'd prescribe a hot toddy and an early night

HellHathNoFury · 06/10/2008 19:49

Jammy I thnk meatballs are an essential part of a childs nutritional intake... like chocolate is an adults

We have meatballs tomorrow as well. I am too lazy to cook. Tonight we had ready made pie.

plus everyone likes meatballs!

JammyOLantern · 06/10/2008 19:55

I think a hot drink and an early night is on the cards. but first we have some lush pud to gorge oueselves on DH on the phone at the moment, then I'll get him to sort it out.

LackaDAISYcal · 06/10/2008 19:58

hot toddy sorted me out last week. with honey, clove studded lemon and a generous sploosh of lemon cordial.

I advocate a hot port and brandy with lemon and cloves and a generous sprinkling of cracked black pepper as well......it certainly helps you sweat it out

How about LURCHadaisycal? as in Lurch from the Addams family?

Meatballs are actually IKEA's top-selling item.
Interesting fact of the week.

Ohforfoxsake · 06/10/2008 20:13

I'll come to Ikea Fairy. I ned to go as have a £10 voucher which must be spent by end of October. And I want a filing cabinet. How jolly exciting!

Sorry Daisy

DD2 is suffering the ill-effects of the MMR.

I bought her a wheely-bug for Christmas, with the Bebeco vouchers I won. And a ton of nappies.

LackaDAISYcal · 06/10/2008 20:13

foxy......this is my Dave

Evening Foxy, Sputnik

Ohforfoxsake · 06/10/2008 20:16

I hope you are an Ikea family member Daisy, you'd get loads of vouchers. They regularly send £10 off vouchers (for a £60 spend - which is pretty easy to do!)

LackaDAISYcal · 06/10/2008 20:19

I have the card, but have yet to register. Get good discount at the tills with it though.

JammyOLantern · 06/10/2008 20:21

OK, what can anyone tell me about stair gates? I've had a look and there are so many and I can't tell what one we need

FiendishFairyFay · 06/10/2008 20:22

Sounds like a plan Foxy

I def need to register for Ikea Family - how did I miss that?

I Need a Dave - it looks great

FiendishFairyFay · 06/10/2008 20:25

Stair gates..... You can either get ones which are mounted by pressur, or ones which screw to the wall. What you get really depends on how you want to fix it and how wide you need it to be (they vary in width and some are adjustable).

LackaDAISYcal · 06/10/2008 20:36

don't buy lindam......they are truly shite.

We have two adjustable width wooden babydan ones that are screwed to the wall (after a fashion ), and then a mamas and papas pressure fit one at the top of the stairs as the wall there is made of swiss cheese and the babydan one kept falling off. We have very wide stairs so needed nearly 90cms width. The mamas and papas came with an extension piece where the others you need to send away for it .

We now live in a gated community

We did buy a lindam metal one, but the hinge was shite and it kept twisting.

LackaDAISYcal · 06/10/2008 20:37

fairy, I love my Dave already ...maybe even more than my DH

OP posts:
Ohforfoxsake · 06/10/2008 20:37

There are two sorts, pressure ones, or the ones you screw to the wall Jammy. I have the pressure ones, but they come loose over time. I should have got the fixed one, given the length of use they've had here!

I have one which closes automatically, which is great if there are other children around.

LackaDAISYcal · 06/10/2008 20:40

the mamas and papas one self closes; which is great at the top of the stair.

Apparently the pressure fit ones whould be fixed anyway if they are between a wall and a stair post.

the babydan ones are good as there is no trip hazard.

OP posts:
JammyOLantern · 06/10/2008 20:46

It is to go between a wall and a stair post. The stair post is on the second step up, so it only needs open one way, as it can't open into the stairs, and I am kind of in favour of pressure fix, but thinking that screw fix might be more secure. We are thinking of just getting one for the bottom of the stairs for now.

NattyTombstoneAndEyeballs · 06/10/2008 20:52
