That website is enough to get ME to start sewing. Just gorgeous!

Aggressive toddlers is a really tricky one. Wasn't its parent/carer doing anything? That's what pisses me off, toddlers can be aggressive, but its the adults they are with who do nothing.

LackaDAISYcal · 24/09/2008 14:15

nope the mum just sat there and said nothing.

The little girl was going up to all the sitting babies and pushing them over using her belly, and then she came and pulled my hair, and then had two little plastic toys in her hands and was bashing all the ither toddlers with them. One poor wee girl actually cringed and braced herself when she saw the horrible one coming, so it's obviously a regular thing. If she hurts my DD at all her mum will know all about it.

I agree it's not the little girl's fault, if no-one says "Not nice" and lets her off with it, then of course it'll continue. Although I did wonder, looking at her in action, whether she had an older brother

I knit......but never finish anything; that's about as Earth Mother as it gets around here.

I didn't really elbow people out of the way as such, but it is a bit of a free for all sometimes, with a huge pile of clothes or whatever and everyone rooting through.

Foxy glad to hear your DP is being a bit nicer.

LackaDAISYcal · 24/09/2008 14:23

storm, you might be able to help. I got a kilo of guernsey wool and a pattern for atraditional east coast fishing gansey for DH years ago. But, it is knitted in the round with four double ended pins and I just can't get on with them so it has sat in a bag for the last four years. Now he is getting into fishing again, he wants his jumper (understandably as it cost about £65 for the kit). Do you know where I can get a pattern for five ply guernsey that is knitted in bits as usual? and one that is fresh and modern looking and not like it came from the bottom of the sale bucket in C&A.

DS is a violent little sod but how do you stop it?! He bites, hits and kicks. Saying no gets you nowhere, he just carries on. It's not like I can put him on a naughty step. I have adopted 'gentle physical reprimands' now. Seems to do the trick.

Ohforfoxsake · 24/09/2008 14:39

Thanks Sputnik! Am awaiting the plagues!

LackaDAISYcal · 24/09/2008 14:44

I make a point of picking DD up nad placing her sitting on the floor facing away from everyone, or if she is in her high chair and trying to wallop DS with her plate or cup, I turn her round so she is facing away from the table.

Learnt with DS that gentle physical reprimanding only works up to a point as it only seemed to encourage him...."I hit mummy, she hits back; what a great game"

and I doubt it would work with DD as she seems to be totally impervious to pain anyway.

they're all different though; what works for one does nothing for the other.

DD has actually been on the naughty step as well already . But she knows what it's for as she sees DS on it all the time! In fact she often joins him out there when he has been sent

I stopped going out when DS1 was at the height of his biting phase, because watching him all the time was sooo stressful. As long as you stay vigilent and deal with it, thats all you can do. I found it too much.

Ikewym storm.....DD thinks "NO" is the funniest word in the english language.

I should get my butt over to texere; it's only a half hour drive and I used to work round the corner from the mill....in fact we shared a car park with them. I'm worried about how much money I will spend in there though...and DH has banned me from buying any more yarn until I finish something. I have about eight UFOs in my knitting box

DS is obsessed with teddies. He'll beat the shit out of the dog, bite me, but show him a teddy and it gets cuddles and he says 'awwwwwww'.

LackaDAISYcal · 24/09/2008 15:35

DDs words are coming on really well, with a few exceptions.

I say spoon; she says balloon. I say fork; she says balloon; I say knife; she says balloon. No idea where she is getting that from as she knows what a balloon is

She also calls either her cup/drinks bottle/ or the drink itself "ganna"...a step forward from "geegee", but it sounds nothing like drink/cup/milk/water etc.

DD loves her cuddlies as well......and since she got her golden retriever last week, they are all called Benny.

that's sweet storm

DS has only recently stopped saying "please you may I have....?" when he wants something. Now he just says "I want a....."

OP posts:
HellHathNoFury · 24/09/2008 15:45

lalabe

DS really only says one thing.
"more"

Not that's he's a fatty or anything. Much.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 24/09/2008 16:02

It's all fucking shit. Didn't check one poxy mirror at a roundabout...failed...now eating chocolate spread from a jar with my finger...it's not good!

Roll on 6 o'clock, then I can have a bottle glass of wine without feeling like a alcoholic!

Foxy, hope you are ok. Sorry you are having trouble of the dp variety and hope it sorts itself out soon. I really wanted to pass my test so I could drive up and see you and give you a real hug instead of a virtual one ! I'll just give you a virtual one instead xxx

My ds has really started chattering over the past few days. He doesn't say much, mostly just nonsense noises, but he has just started to say Alice, which is really sweet. He really understands what you say to him though, things like asking him to get his shoes or to turn the TV off, he'll just go and do it. It's really funny!

Ummmm....does anyone else have the Bernard Matthews turkey ad at the bottom of their screen? That's not going to go down well! I'd say that was even worse than the McDonalds ones. BM are fuckers and treat their birds appallingly!

holly. I have failed my test more times than I care to remember (and probably could do to take it again but would fail) so I know how you feel. I am waiting for a drink too (my afternoon off makes me want more time off) and I want to have my evenings free time so I can start sewing.
Instead I am cooking tea and the boys are fighting.

for you too storm
