Amber glad you enjoyed it , totally agree with you about having adult nights out, it does make such a difference.

Debs hope Ethan slept through and is OK again

Poppy there will be an October book of the month, Tilly is posting choices on 23rd, hope you are not too disappointed about your weeken away. Do you have a house in France, and better to be turned back then stuck in a tunnel with a baby.

Well all is quiet here, still have guests in but no beds to do today, just ironing and more booke work and then catching up with Libra later. And the weight is still coming off but slowly (9lbs now)so hope all the other losers are doing well.

debinaustria · 12/09/2008 10:49

Morning

Amber - so pleased you had a good time at the concert - personally I'd be scared to do real proper belly laughs with my wobbly post baby belly!!

Sophie - Ethan slept 8-5.00 then again until 7.45, no fever yet, so fingers crossed! Hope you have a good time with Libra this afternoon - is it still OK for swimming or is it too cold now?

re weight - I think I've lost about half a stone but I'm not too het up about weighing. I can gradually get in more clothes, but just not the jeans! Was doing well until the post came - 2 big bars of Cadburys from my best friend in the uk, cost her more to post them than to buy them!!

PiggyPenguin · 12/09/2008 11:21

God so many messages! I've been away since Mondy as Jamie has had a stinking cold and been throwing up what little milk he has taken (not that you've missed me you rotten lot!) He has also been awake and screaming most of the night as he can't breathe through his nose to sleep or fed. I do feel very sorry for him - when I'm not feeling sorry for poor sleep-deprived, vomit stained me that is!

Jamie was weighed on Mon. and at 12+ weeks he is 13lbs 9 oz, which given that he will only feed when asleep is not too bad I think!

Dh was so sorry for me yesterday that he promised to come home early and help out. Whcih he did - twenty minutes early. Is it just me or that worse than not bothering. I was hoping for a couple of hours so I could get a nap. Twenty lousy minutes seems a bit of an insult really.

Sorry such an egocentric post, I have read all the messages but my brain is too mushy to retain much. Although I am looking forward to seeing you on the telly Debs!

goingfor3 · 12/09/2008 11:32

A week of school, nursery and afterschool activities has taken its toll on us. DP had to wake me and the girls up this morning at 8.15, ds was happily awake in his cot. It's hard to get back into the routine and next week will be worse as there is a chance the the children are modelling three times next week. I'm all ready looking forwrd to half term!

hedgehog1979 · 12/09/2008 13:30

amber glad you enjoyed Stevie, we have our first night out with the just the two of us next weekend. TBH I am dreading leaving Isaac with MIL but would feel the same leaving him with my mum as well .

sybil agree with you about 20 mins early, DH's idea of leaving work early is similar but since having Isaac he at least rings me before he leaves, but I do see him more as I am in town more so will pop in and see him. Weight sounds good too

Had Isaac weighed yesterday and at 11 weeks he is 12lbs exactly, did want to ask for him to be measured but forgot so am going to have to do it myself with Guiness book of records and B&Q tape measure when DH gets home

Lovely weather here today, if it stays like it this whole weekend I may get to cut my knee high grass. Garden is clay so when it rains it drains really slowly and we end up with a quagmire which can be calf deep on me (about 12 - 15 inches) so we need at least 2 days of dry weather to allow it to dry before we can mow it.

mamawhizz If you read this can you post the link about where you got your portable BF cushion from as my sis has offered to get me one for my birthday (thanks)

alipalli · 12/09/2008 14:31

G43 yes ds's weight is quite something. This week I have had a couple of people mentioning early weaning to me, including the HV. Was shocked by this as I thought she would be reciting the government guidelines at me about waiting till 6 months. Now confused about what works best for big hungry babies. I wanted to exclusively BF for 6 months but there seems to be a body of thought that says sometimes it is better to start weaning earlier. His sleep having got worse in the last two weeks might point to this. I guess I should not worry for now as you don't want to do anything till 4 months. Too scared of the BF and weaning boards to post about this there!

Amber so pleased that you had fun last night. You sounded so upbeat in your post this morning.

Our sleep last night was not so good again. 1.50, 4.00 and 5.30. I am prepared to start my day after 6am but I draw the line at peter wanting to play before that.

sympathies Sybil, sounds miserable. Peter woke up very snuffly. Wouldn't describe it as a cold but be did have snot flaring out of one nostril with each breath. Went to Boots to stock up on a nasal aspirator. He screamed when we were there. By the time we got home the snot must have been dislodged by the screaming as be was better and there was gunge on his cuff!

alipalli · 12/09/2008 14:35

Also, MIL has found diaries from when DH was a baby. He was also 16lbs at 12 weeks which is when she started to wean him

LauraT · 12/09/2008 15:13

hello,

sybil we did miss you really, just not out loud

sophie the congrats on no vomiting were premature as C threw up at half eight last night instead - a bonus really as DH could clean her up, although rather annoyingly it was after her bath.

Charlotte has just screamed her way through the whole of our post natal exercise class, meaning that I managed to do the exercises for one leg (right) one buttock (left) and about 5 stomach curls. I will end up a very strange shape if this carries on! She fell asleep in time for the relaxation section - typical!

hedgehog I saw a website the other day that sold bright coloured muslins here I think you were looking for some to compare prices with?

mamawizz · 12/09/2008 15:35

hedgehog - the breastfeeding cushions are on www.thrupennybits.co.uk It really has transformed things for me. Is so much more comfortable than balancing on knee that I am no longer planning outings so that I can rush back home at feed time.

poppy34 · 12/09/2008 16:06

sybil we did miss you honest...sorry you've had such a tough week and your dh not being overly helpful (hh
amberglad you had fun and a godo night out... am in need of one of those so need to arrange something as not been out since the baby born which is a bit daft

5gomadwill look out for book...am not to disappointed re weeekend away (we have a place in paris) but am a bit re the way whole thing was treated - there were laods of people moaning about missing connections, having no where to stay etc and there was no eurostar staff i could see when we arrived back at st pancras.

laurat hope vomiting eases up but did smile re charlotte in exercise class and the lopsided effects

quiet day here as not feeling that great post cold so happy that dh working from home to help.. nice and sunny now which is nice so not too disappointed to be at home rather than in paris (and prob as well for my waistline given how much I eat there)

PiggyPenguin · 12/09/2008 17:25

Don't worry about not missing me - I was joking honestly, I'm not that narcissistic! (although, thank you to those who did obviously

DH says I have to vindicate him as he came home at 3.45 today to make up for yesterday. What a star eh? Either that or he was truly shocked by the venom he encountered after yesterdays effort and felt he had to do it.

LauraT - you have my sympathies about the vomiting, I know exactly were you are coming from. One day this week Jamie managed to vomit in his car seat, both bouncy chairs and his bed before 11.00. Impressive really given he only feeds when falling asleep.

poppy34 · 12/09/2008 17:34

Sybil that is aweinspiring to do that much damage in so short a time...

hedgehog1979 · 12/09/2008 18:27

MW thanks for link, have forwarded to sister for birthday pressie ideas

laura thanks for link - I was thinking of doing 12 for £18 which undercuts them but they do do other things as well

Have managed to mow the front lawn, then there was an incredible thunder storm so now hoping for no more rain this weekend so I can attack the back.

Started my xmas shopping today - couple of bits and pieces for sisters and SIL coz I tend to do goodie bags and keep a present box - can't believe that this time last year had not even thought about having a baby and was in the same position xmas wise

ThePenguinProject · 12/09/2008 19:01

I haven't been able to catch up with posts yet, but wanted to check in...

Had a busy few days and expecting a mad weekend so may not be around until Monday.

Have good weekends everyone!

Upsidedowncake · 12/09/2008 20:01

MW, lovely to see you yesterday and sorry that others weren't around.

Amber, glad you had a good time at Stevie Wonder.

Sybil, sorry about that vomming. That's a lot, and so depressing. Dorothy's reflux got loads worse for a week after her injections. Have you had anything like that?

Hedgehog, am highly imrpessed with your Christmas shopping, you scary lady. We haven't even had our 'summer holiday' yet!

Alipalli, impressive weighing on for Peter.

Re weight, I recommend giving up dairy (or in my case, ice cream!) Am now half a stone below my pre-pregnancy weight ... though I was really very porky when I got pregnant as had an ectopic the month before and hadn't lost the weight from that.

Amberc · 12/09/2008 20:16

Re stevie Wonder, did have one spare ticket and was thinking about asking any of you guys on MN if you wanted to come. Was in a corporate box and we had a great view with all free food etc. Would anyone have come?

poppy34 · 12/09/2008 20:47

udc the dairy thing is interesteing (And so sorry to hear about the ectopic)...have been trying to cut down on between meal snacks/treats ...usually ok but slipped a bit over last day or so

amber if it was a bit nearer I would have come (no longer live that side of london)

Christmas -

hedgehog1979 · 13/09/2008 09:01

Morning all

Sorry for scaring you with the christmas thing - I was asked by MIL what she should get Isaac when he was 6 days old!!!!!
Looks like being a lovely day today so we shall go into the garden and sort out some of the weeding while we can

Re dairy - don't do all that much here anyway as take tea and coffee black, thinking of that the Milkman came round the other day to try and see if we would be interested in having our milk delivered. when I told him that I buy maybe one pint every 3 -4 weeks he looked a bit shocked!!!

Have a nice day everyone

debinaustria · 13/09/2008 09:07

morning hedgehog

so what will mil be buying isaac?

happy weeding

aberdeenhiker · 13/09/2008 12:56

Here's my take on extreme breastfeeding - with DS1 though, scroll down for the picture.

Josey - would love to get together soon! You are doing so many wonderful things with Olivia but tell her not to get a PhD, the pay is rubbish I'm sure all the work you are doing to make sure she gets all the help she needs right away instead of waiting ages for the system to kick in will make a huge difference.

Deb - I really want to see you on TV! You have to promise you'll tell us all when it's on.

5gomad - your DS is probably sleeping better than most of the LOs because he's on formula, but it sounds like he's an excellent sleeper anyways! At least we know that out of all of us you're one of the ones who needs a sleeper since you're so busy in the mornings.

I'm starting to emerge from the fog of sleep deprivation and Fraser is starting to sleep between feeds at night. Last night I was only up twice for 20 minutes each time and it felt like heaven. We had a few horrible horrible nights when we took away his dummy and had to let him cry (we'd take him in our arms and then put him back down again) but hopefully he's learned now to fall asleep on his own.

udc- Fraser has been in a cot since he was born and we keep the carry cot for downstairs sleep - I think they're fine in cots honestly.

I know I've missed tons of posts - sorry! Life has been a bit mad here as we've put our house up for sale which means I had to clean it. Obviously in this market it may not sell, but if we can sell it we should have a really easy time buying the next house so we thought we'd give it a go while I'm on maternity leave.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 13/09/2008 13:04

Christmas - usually have started by now, want to get most of it done before we go away.

AH - I do think some of it is down to formula, having said that I have got a friend who BF both her boys one started sleeping through at 10 weeks and the other at 6, 2 out of 3 of my brothers boys slept through early as well, I also know people who have formula fed and their children were really bad sleepers some of whom are on this thread.

2 more weeks and then it really quietens off snd just weekends with odd midweek bookings, need them to pick up but I think it will depend on the weather.

Hope everyone has this sunshine this weekend, we are off to parents this afternoon to go swimming.

aberdeenhiker · 13/09/2008 13:13

5gomad - yes, didn't mean to imply that all formula fed babies were good sleepers and vice versa, just that it can help a bit.

debinaustria · 13/09/2008 13:20

No sunshine here Sophie - enjoy your swim.

AH - glad the nights are becoming more bearable, love the photos on the blog, Duncan looks gorgeous.

We are delving into the dusty depths under the boys beds today so that we can make them back into bunkbeds and make the place more tidy for the film crew!!!! They have so much stuff, and it's all mixed up, everything I put in the bin, they are taking it out to inspect it - aargh.

hedgehog1979 · 13/09/2008 14:51

deb told her that I wanted some sleep and left her at that point - but as we are all (MIL, DH, DS and me) going to my mum and dads in Somerset for christmas hope it is not going to be a spoiling contest - Can trust my parents in that respect as they have two GC to spoil but not MIL

Still sunny here and have finished with the front garden - weeded, remowed and even planted some cuttings that I took before I gave birth (at least they have had time for roots to develop.) Isaac is sleeping happily in the pushchair having been propped up to watch mummy getting stuck in.

think will attack back tomorrow now
