five Holiday was cancelled as DP works for the company that has taken over Lehman Brothers and he is directly involved and needs to work on it. He has promised me that he will take us to the coast at the weekend to have some family time. Got to see him for 30 seconds this morning as he said goodbye. 5 minutes last night as he came home from work. Let's hope that weekends will be quality time from now on.

Jealous was tongue in cheek but meant that we'd be having a night out without the babies larging it up in Landan Tahn!!

needahand · 25/09/2008 11:48

Hi everyone

sorry I don't have time to reply to all of you individually, but I barely have the time to go on mumsnet these days.

SJ has been sick (cough, sore throat and cold) and is slowly picking up. The problem is that he was chocking a lot so I woke up each time he was coughing to check he was ok. On top of that he seems to be teething as well so even if he falls asleep normally in the evening he wakes up two or three times at night. I am soo tired I don't really know what to do with him anymore, he is so clingy during the day too.

GF was lovely to meet you on Monday. I am glad Storm settled down on the way back, there is nothing worse that being stuck in the car with a baby that cries her head off. It is probably all the stimulation she had! I have to say she is so alert and really enjoyed looking around so she must have been tired. She was sooo cute. Still have trouble with SJ (see above) and am very tired. I have a work lunch tomorrow, I am not sure how I will manage to string two sentences together

Fungle we'll have to meet you with you too next time. Our meeting with GF on Monday was a bit of a last minute one and we rescheduled several time.

Off to go..the boss is calling/crying (an dI thought I was the boss here...how wrong was I)

goingfor3 · 25/09/2008 11:55

Morning all,

I had an awful night last night. DS woke every hour from 8 pm to 7 am. I am exhausted! He must be having a growth spurt as he fed everytime he woke. I got fed up and this morning after the school run I gave him a bottle of formula and he has the whole 7 ounces. I don't want to do it very often but it's good to have the option after 12 night time breast feeds! I have to wait for the repair man today and am hoping he comes soon as I am stressing as I have to take dd1 into london for a casting this evening - I am too tired for all of this.

poppy34 · 25/09/2008 14:18

lol at essie and her pc comments.. I was going to make a comment re iestyn being welsh napoleon but didn't

We could do madam jojos for london night out - its cheesily silly and fun.

goingfor3 -sympathy re the night... we seem to be going backwards here ... went down fine at 7am, dream feed at 10.30 then wide awaake for play time at 3am, filled her nappy then threw up teh bottle of milk I gave her thinking she was hungry.. so ended up changing her and myself before she went off to sleep again at 4.30... please tell me that they do get better again ..thought it was 12 week growth thing but seems to have got stuck into waking a night/dead early -having been quite a good sleeper through.

jabs ok this mornig (she cried more when I woke her from nap to answer door) and seems quite happy since.. obviously made of tougher stock than her mother.

hi needahand nice to hear from you again

FiveGoMadInDorset · 25/09/2008 14:24

Needahand - good to hear from you.

G43 - wow you have a lot on your plate no wonder you are tired, sympathies heading your way.

Poppy - voting is taking place for October book of the month

poppy34 · 25/09/2008 14:27

thanks 5gomad have popped over to vote - am hoping it'll get me back int eh reading habit

OP posts:
Amberc · 25/09/2008 14:38

poppy - yes madame jojos is fun! If Edie wakes up at 3am more than once you need to let her cry otherwise her body clock will tune into this time. As long as there is no reason like too many daytime naps (or too few) you'll have to get tough! Feed her put her to bed and let her cry before she gets used to it! I thought 5am was Luke's natural waking time until the night nanny told me she put him back to bed and he went to sleep again. Some crying needed but once he saw the night nanny wasn't taking any shit he gave up and went to sleep. It's now a much more manageable 6.15-6.30.

goingfor3 · 25/09/2008 14:47

AARRRRGGGGHHHH _ the repair man came to fix the washing machine just a few mins before I had to pick up dd2. He did a rush job and now rather than too much water going in the machine there is not enough so it's still not working properly!!! He's comming again tommorow.

Sympathies for you too Poppy. DS used to only wake twice a night which was fine by me but I assume he is having a growth spurt as he did the hourly waking thing a month ago aswell and things did settle. Luckily I can just bring him into bed from the cot next to me to feed him so it doesn't disturb me too much, he doesn't want to play thankfully!

poppy34 · 25/09/2008 15:03

gofor3 how annoying!!

amber know you're right but last night was first night I think she was just -not to mince words- taking the piss with her mum (previous nights I have either skipped dream feed etc etc)... need to get tough (wasn't helped as dh not around so don't know if she was picking up on that or something).

She is more tired than usual today so maybe she'll figure out for herself its not a good idea..

Essie3 · 25/09/2008 15:44

Was going to type a long and witty post. But I've just heard the most disturbing explosion from Iestyn's rear end, and therefore I need to deal with it.

Once more unto the breach...

Essie3 · 25/09/2008 16:01

It was enormous.

Amberc · 25/09/2008 16:12

I had to deal with a mega poo today. Whilst changing him an enormous never ending poo snake came out of Luke's bottom!! It was horrible! It kept slowing down and I thought it was over but it just kept going - yuck (tee hee - much too much info on there!)

poppy34 · 25/09/2008 16:13

at amber - was caught out by someone not being finished but have not actually had to deal with a real live poo snake myself ..yet

OP posts:
poppy34 · 25/09/2008 16:14

btw thats got to be the next thread title..something about fighting the poo snakes and rearguard actions

OP posts:
poppy34 · 25/09/2008 16:19

bugger dh flight delayed by at least 3 hours.. am knackered and was looking forward to arrival of the cavalry.. will just have to hit the fortifying red wine tea early...

OP posts:
Essie3 · 25/09/2008 16:37

Hahaha, the bfed poos are less snake, more like a slow but unstoppable mushroom cloud.

And love the thread title Poppy - we've gone all military on here! Have a big glass. That's really annoying for you.

Amberc · 25/09/2008 17:49

Ah - my poo snake was a special Gaviscon poo snake - like when you use a piping bag but filled with pate!

poppy34 · 25/09/2008 17:57

I cant believe we are boasting about our lo poos.. we seriously need that night out before it gets worse

OP posts:
poppy34 · 25/09/2008 17:58

spongebrainbigpants · 25/09/2008 19:15

Essie, lol at you coming out - I always had my suspicions at you academic lot and your comfortable shoes!

My brother is gay and Welsh . . . ! Well, we tease him about being Welsh cos my brothers were born in Wrexham, but he doesn't like to be reminded . . . .

I didn't realise front to back was advanced - but of course my son is extremely advanced! He has been doing much more rolling back to front today - every time I leave him in fact - so have given up on the changing mat on top of the cot and gone to the floor for safety!

needahand, sorry to hear that SJ has been unwell and is running you ragged . Hope things improve soon.

G43, wow that sounds like a tough night. You poor thing - don't need crap with the washing machine on top!

And talking of crap, loving all the poo discussions! Just what I need while enjoying my tea . . . !!

thegreenfairy · 25/09/2008 20:01

needahand sorry you are still having probs - I'm sure they will settle down soon. Storm was tired poor thing, and we had a repeat performance today after baby massage but the net result was that she was asleep by 7.30pm!!! Just praying she sleeps through...

g43 sounds like a deffo growth spurt - don't blame you for giving a FF - I would have done just the same (and have).

am abstaining from the poo discussions!

aberdeenhiker · 25/09/2008 20:18

Amber and 5gomad hugs to you! I'm exhausted and worn out and teary these days so I sympathize with everyone else finding this age so exhausting and emotionally draining.

Amber, my DH and I have struggled with finding a good life-work balance and it is very difficult (and an on-going issue) for us as he loves his job and it tends to demand a lot from him. It's not the bit more money that matters in the end, it's the family time (obviously this doesn't apply if you need the money to make ends meet, but we're lucky enough that's not a stress for us. We don't spend very much either so I'd much rather time with DH than more in the bank). And I agree with you on nurseries vs. nannies - I've signed both my boys up to the one that DS1 goes to. It's the most expensive in Aberdeen but that's only a few £100 more a year than the others, fortunately childcare is at least cheap here!

josey I've been missing you! Sorry you've had a crap week but what great news about Olivia's feeding!!! I'm off on vacation after next week so I wont see you for a while unless you're in the mood for a meet up next week - text me if it appeals. I can come to you if Olivia's reflux is still causing her grief in the car.

Apologies to everyone else I've missed here. I'm going to bed. Fraser is a crap sleeper and it's catching up to me...

Essie3 · 25/09/2008 21:43

Shame on you, Sponge, being Welsh is the greatest privilege which you can only dream of. (Wrexham, snigger...) I will stand on your foot in my highest heel (no sensible shoes for me!) when we meet up. Or set Iestyn's aunties Kate&Kate on you.

I was v. brave today and went to see The Duchess at the Big Scream. I had to take 2 buses! (Would have been 1 but I'm not good with buses - I'm from the countryside.) Film was good but Keira Knightly is rather annoying. And I do so fancy Ralph Fiennes. He was lucky it was Penguin who saw him in Borough Market and not me, that's all I can say...

Waiting for DH to make an appearance. He won his case and is coming home - phew!

spongebrainbigpants · 25/09/2008 21:50

Ooooh, get you Essie - fighting talk!!

This is an observation, not a dig, but I have to say I've never understood national pride - after all, your country of birth is something you have no control over! However, I say that as someone who is boringly English and we have never been good at national pride! (Probably cos we know we're superior and don't need to prove it !).

I'd far rather be a Kiwi tbh, and am still hoping that dh agrees to emigrate - I'd be on the first plane out of here with nothing but the clothes I'm standing up in, and Alex, of course! Wishful thinking . . .

AH, hope you manage to catch up on some sleep soon .

ThePenguinProject · 25/09/2008 22:24

Gonna ignore all the poo talk, it was something I swore I wouldn't do pre baby and worry that I do it too much already....

Ryder had a tough day today with his cold, but not as tough as me dealing with it! For the first time ever, BF-ing didn't stop the crying or calm him down...I nearly went into full panic mode but thankfully the hairdryer calmed him down for 5 minutes which gave me a break before he started off again. He's very sleepy and clingy (needing to be snuggled into Mummy alot) as well. Poor thing.

Funny you mention emigrating to NZ Sponge, DH is a kiwi and should I get a large enough payoff if made redundant, we will emigrate. It's something that is being discussed alot in our house right now. In reality it probably won't happen for 3 or 4 years. We were actually considering moving out of London for a year or two beforehand, perhaps to Wales so I can get used to lots of sheep, countryside and funny accents!

Bit worried as we're off to Toast NZ on Saturday - I'm worried that it'll make DH even more homesick. (He's never ever mentioned wanting to go back pre Ryder, now he refers to NZ as home ).

I've become a bit crap at replying to all posts recently, sorry. Been reading sporadically throughout the day, but not being able to reply and need sleep now. Goodnight Y'all!
