Thought I'd start the new thread using paro's suggestion

Sorry about the colds PP -it's horrible isn't it. And especially to see the lo's suffering

goingfor3 hope you get your drier sorted!

PP I haven't had A weighed for ages either - but am going to the docs today to have his BCG, so will probably get him weighed then. Not looking forward to the BCG at all - I remember it really hurting when I had it (as a teenager obviously not a baby!).

Does anyone else's lo have to have the BCG? I know if differs according to where in the country you are, but apparently there's TB around here!

pleasechange · 23/09/2008 13:09

Can I ask you all a really boring question. Where do you buy your cot sheets/blankets? They seem really expensive in Mothercare

ThePenguinProject · 23/09/2008 13:34

Allnew - no BCG here in SW London?

I agree re: cot sheets and only as I was chucking out some of ours did I put two and two togeher. I'm going to cut up some old ones and hem the edges with wunderweb to make cot sheets. Ryder sleeps in grobags so they're just for underneath anyway. How's that for recycling?

pleasechange · 23/09/2008 13:51

That's v creative recycling PP! I need lots as A is such a dribbler, so that would certainly save money

Amberc · 23/09/2008 16:12

We have to have BCG too in Greenwich. I think it depends on how many people from an African country live in the area as it's very common.

We bought a couple of cot sheets but Luke sleeps on a sheepskin - how come you need more? Has Ryder worn out the old ones already?!

London meet up was nice - got to meet poppy and edie who is very sweet and had the boys fighting over her! Iestyn of course won the battle with his cute smiles. Luke did offer him out (for non-Londoners this means ask for a fight) but us mums broke them up before a major fracas could ensue!

Luke did not cry once! Not even on the way home - he has been asleep from waterloo and is in bed asleep now - must have worn him out. I put his new shoes on him today - just soft prewalkers as I thought his feet mighty get cold but you try putting a shoe on a cloven hoof!

poppy34 · 23/09/2008 16:30

think there is bcg here depending on which hospital you are in ..some of them have very high infection rates due to large number of foreign patients.

was lovely to meet everyone at london meet up - Edie has now had her head thoroughly turned (mainly girls in our nct group) and can't make up her mind between the boys... she is most appreciative of luke's plain talking ways given her mother is of south london stock too.

Home now and with the baby einstein going... you think they could have paid for proper music rather than the lift musak on it...

Lost: get up and go.

Huge reward if found.

hedgehog1979 · 23/09/2008 17:51

Glad you enjoyed your meet London Ladies,

cot sheets have you tried babys r us? I got ours there as they were cheaper tha nmothercare, but my mum also did what pp is doing and hemmed loads of her old bed sheets for us (she was sorting airing cupboard and found all my and bro and sis's old bedding)

Glad you are finding luke better amber might have to come to you for tips when Isaac realises he can misbehave as well.

First for him today - he stayed awake for the whole 2 hours at NCT bumps and babes, fell asleep on the 20 minute walk home then as soon as we got into the porch he woke up again.

He is now lying on his playgym with a giraffe leg very firmly grasped in one hand and the other in his mouth!!

Off to guides this evening - No cook cooking ie peppermint creams, 'armpit' fudge.....

poppy34 · 23/09/2008 18:03

Luke doesn't misbehave - he's just got way too much energy! He never eats enough so I don't know where he gets it from. He was so tired this evening it was all I could do to keep him awake till 6.30. He nearly took the door frame off on his bouncer! We are going to see another nursery tomorrow in Canary Wharf. Hope it's nice. Been distinctly unimpressed so far. This one is meant to be the rolls royce of nurseries and costs an arm and a leg so it'll need to be really something to justify itself.

I get to find out whether I'll still be alive next week tonight. I.e. whether we can go on holiday. DP's got a meeting at 7pm and if we have to cancel the holiday I have been looking forward to for ages (due to fly on Thursday) then I have already threatened to throw myself in the Thames. I am so with Essie on the needing to do something different front a bored stupid. I don't feel like I have anything to look forward to at the moment in my groundhog day of a life and unfortunately I built the holiday up to be my salvation. Seriously what do I do if we can't go? I will need something to get me away - I don't suppose I can go just me and Luke although I have thought about it. Anyone fancy a trip to Cyprus? Essie fancy it? If you're still p'd off with DH, tell him you're running away to Cyprus with me and taking Iestyn with you!

spongebrainbigpants · 23/09/2008 20:35

Hi guys, god it's been busy on here recently!

poppy, I'm sure you're right re: competitive parenting - will have to learn to ignore it cos probably goes right through to competitive grandparenting!

PP, don't worry about not loving your 2nd child as much as your 1st - I'm a 2nd child and I'm far superior to my sister!

And lol at your friend thinking that she could carry on working with a baby - it was enough for me to co-ordinate walking in the first 6 wks let alone working! She'll learn! I talked a whole load of crap about parenting before I had A - it's nearly all gone out of the window!

AH, at your mother not rolling til 11 mths! But thanks for telling me that so I don't worry if A follows a similar path.

Amber, yes A much more vocal now which is lovely - 'chats' all the time. And is now stuffing things in his mouth too - mainly muslins, soft books and his plastic loops (Mothercare, £3.99, couldn't recommend them more highly!).

Such a shame so many of you have awful experiences with your HVs - mine is absolutely lovely and so supportive. She returns calls quickly, is honest with her advice and always remembers little details about you that make you feel like you're her only patient. She's a star .

Glad you enjoyed the London meet up today, sorry to miss it again. Hope to be there next month sometime.

Oh, and my name on ravelry is keepsmiling. Have joined up with Laura but can't find the others. Can you remind me what your names are? Thanks.

spongebrainbigpants · 23/09/2008 20:35

Btw, if anyone gets Prima Baby magazine, I'm on page 70 talking about my birth story!

Amberc · 23/09/2008 20:58

Just found out. No holiday. Gutted. I cannot bear the sight of DP at the mo so have told him to keep away. Sounds extreme but I feel like I have nothing positive at all at the moment other than my boy.

thegreenfairy · 23/09/2008 21:15

amber I am SO sorry. You poor woman. Sending virtual chocolate and big hugs.

PP/allnew I cut up kingsize sheets and hemmed them to make cot sheets. Cheap as chips and took about half an hour.

lol five storm had her last jabs today and SO know what you're saying - five hours of on/off crying does not a happy mummy make!

sponge have friended you on ravelry. laura and hh are in my friends - hoity toity and r**h (a real name)

Essie3 · 23/09/2008 21:36

Oh, Amber, that's awful. Is there anything I can do? (I would come to Cyprus in a shot! Iestyn has no passport though. Must sort that out for quick getaways!) Wanna come to Anglesey? It's not Cyprus but you'd get to push your NF jacket to the very limit!
I'm home alone for the next 2 nights but here in London. Already panicking (as you know!).

Sheets: I got a load from a friend, who had got them from Babies R Us. But IKEA also do cheap fitted sheets for cots.

5GoMad has it got up and gone?

Sorry, someone had to say that

FiveGoMadInDorset · 23/09/2008 22:17

It has as is my time, Sebastain sleeps well at night but is clingy in day, so we ar struggling to get DD off to nursery, breakfast for guests and making sure he is OK as well as doing beds. Tomorrow I have 2 huge baskets of sheets to do and crossing fingers that he will settle long enough to do them as we have 2 rooms to do and also I need to catch up with book work, changing all DD's to business account before 1st, and then wild child is home so nothing gets sone, though hoepfully she may go to sleep tomorrow, on the bright side at the moment we have no bookings for next Tuesday and he is sleeping.

Sorry about your holiday Amber.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 23/09/2008 22:18

Most days I am ending up in tears, bad PMT coupled with sheer exhaustion, right must put bread on and then bed.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 23/09/2008 22:26

And we are also trying to potty train wild child but its not working so getting stressed about that as well.

And I have tesco's to sort out.

Sorry for off loading.

Essie3 · 23/09/2008 22:42

No, this is the place to offload. I do it all the time!
I don't want to say pointless things which don't help, but thinking of you. And you're coping brilliantly: you have double the stress and tiredness that I have and I still have meltdowns.

Oh - not an expert or anything but is she not ready to potty train? Any help on the potty training board?

Parofleurmapu · 23/09/2008 22:47
