It was DD's Christening on Sunday - a really fabulous day, lovely ceremony and great having all the family over. However, I got totally wasted, I hope you manage to stay more sober than I was noolia!!

Following the Christening I had my first day back at work on the Monday - with a rotten hangover to boot!

Going back to work has been surprisingly ok, I do miss DD and wish I didn't have to work but I am so busy I don't get the chance to think about it too much and I have to work so it's easier just to get on with it.

Would definitely be up for the Xmas Do. Will sign up now, can we go for a bottle glass of wine before? Dutch courage and all that.

Ewe · 11/09/2008 22:25

God that post makes me sound like a total lush! I'm not, honest!

Hello everyone sorry not been on for ages i do try to keep up but dont seem to ever have time to write anything.

Harry and Millie are now on solids eating one meal a day with between 4 - 5 7oz bottles a day, i spoke with the HV today when i got them weighed, who said to introduce a breakfast so will try that tomorrow. Harry weighs 22lbs and Millie 16lbs i am still really consious about Harrys weight but MY HV (not the stupid student HV) keeps telling me he is fine and there is nothing to worry about, even though i know what i am doing having done it all before i still feel the need to ask them ???

Millie is rolling has been for about a month and trying to stand when lifted on to legs and Harry is a lazy boy just started rolling on to his tummy but does not knwo what to do from there.

Still think i am going to take a career break but probably get a part time job on a night to tide us over for money.

Hope you are all well.

COOOOEEEEEEEE- Hello, Hellooooooooooo

JFly · 15/09/2008 10:14

Hello?

Whoa, it's echo-y in here.

If you're bored, you can help me plan my holiday. Where should we go for a week in October? Thinking Mallorca or Sicily?? Really need to get this booked up. Just want decent weather and a charming hotel with plenty of spa stuff/pool/ facilities in case we never leave the place. But a nice, boutique-type hotel. But not too expensive. We want it all, basically.

Any thoughts?

wontbepreggersagain · 15/09/2008 10:35

oooh what about the italian lakes? some beautiful areas there. sicilly- really nice, mallorca- pretty but favoured by stag/hen parties etc!

i'm planning the once in a lifetime disney thing for 2012- with 5 of the little blighters i'm only going once dh is having repetative heart failure when i tell him various prices

we went to tunisia a few months back- all inclusive, best way with kids- they can eat the hotel out of business whilst you drink the bar dry .

why not wait til last minute and take a chance- thats how we booked tunisia- dh worked out which week we were going- i packed, sat infront of tinterweb typed in which airport to travel from pressed the button and left about 9 hours later twas fabbo way of doing it- no pondering over endless brochures and saved a small fortune. we ended up on a 5 star all inclusive with flight upgrades for 7 came in under 1500 quid we usually budget for 5k for a 10 day hol so i've told dh he can take me to the celtic manor for a weekend and let me go shopping with the change

JFly · 15/09/2008 10:45

Wow, preggers, you are brave. Disneyland or World? Suppose from the UK it'd be Florida. I have good memories of Disneyland as a kid (I'm American). It's fun for the whole family!

This will be our first holiday with G and he'll be about 6.5 months, so we can still plan it around us for the most part. Facilities I think we'll need are an indoor pool (for G to go in), spa for me, decent restaurant, and baby-listening/babysitting.

DH mentioned Tunisia and will have a look again. But I'm a little hesitant to fly more than 2-3 hours, as we'll have to lap it with G. I reckon that's his threshold.

Last minute is a brill idea. And hey, we're risk takers! Or, maybe we'll book flights and then take a chance on hotels. Call around for a cheap deal. At this rate, it will be last minute regardless!

JFly · 15/09/2008 10:47

OH, and the Lakes. I so want to go there. I just wonder if at that time of year it will be a bit dead. Not that I'm there for the night-life, but I had hoped I run in to George and Brad.

merryberry · 15/09/2008 13:30

we did malta (well gozo) this time of year with ds1 at 11 weeks. was very straightforward. if you're not co-sleeping and so all used to each other's noises in the night then it it unbelievably worth it to get a family suite/1 bed apartment. this is my toppest tip EVER

fitnfortyone · 15/09/2008 16:45

I'm still cacking myself about our trip to LA in Feb and all the gear an 11month old will need with him. Having a dry run this coming weekend in Nottingham at some old coaching inn, requested a cot but will have to bring our own as LO still refuses to sleep in anything but his Moffii hammock (or the xplory which isn't really good for overnighters ).
Now at the stage where don't have to sterilize bottles (i know it wasn't compulsory before but did it anyway) but not sure whether or not to take a mini steriliser for this trip as the water will be kettleboiled tap stuff and the washing up will presumably be in the bathroom sink.
Add to that x amount of clothes changes due to nappy explosions....calpol/sweetener reaction. Maybe his front tooth will have come through by then, can't hurt as much as the back teeth have already and they're up!

Enjoying the snotfest of LO's first cold, he was so miserable yesterday while we were out for the day in Glastonbury, red streaming eyes and liquid sneezes At least he doesn't appear to have picked up the voms from someone he met there!

e14mum · 15/09/2008 22:11

I'm cacking myself about going to Toronto on Saturday! Thankfully, my mom has borrowed most of what I'll need, can't imagine having to bring it all with you!

Started weaning today and have just boiled a pot dry trying to steam some pears. Oops! Leave that one for DH to clean in the morning I think :O

iwantasecondone · 16/09/2008 09:26

Me too...going to Vancouver in a couple of weeks. 11 hours with a baby on my lap...eek!

JFly · 16/09/2008 09:53

Can't you get a sky cot/bassinet thing for P, iwant? That's what I'm counting on when we go to the States over Christmas. I really hope they're big enough for a 9 month old. Thankfully the Seattle direct flight is just 9 hours, but I still don't think I could handle him on my lap that whole time!

e14mum · 16/09/2008 10:47

I don't think they can go in the bassinets once they can sit unaided JFly. Thankfully dd is not so advanced in the sitting area so we'll be fine for Saturday!

iwantasecondone · 16/09/2008 12:18

They have to be under 68cms, Jfly. Are you a Seattle girl?!! I grew up in Bellingham!

JFly · 16/09/2008 16:19

Oh no! I didn't realise that about the sky cots. What will I do? Under feed him so he doesn't grow beyond 68cm, I think.

How bizarre, iwant, that we didn't know that (not sure I heard your accent at the meet up either)! I grew up in Alaska but went to UW so lived in Seattle for years. I usually say I'm from Seattle as I get fewer questions about Eskimos and dog sledding that way!

iwantasecondone · 16/09/2008 20:03

For some reason Jfly I thought you were from New York. Hmm. Am going home to visit parents in Vancouver before they move back to Wa state at xmastime. My LO is already 70cm so am stuffed.
