have you tried a full refresh Ctrl + F5
Have you started using Firefox as I think that does it - if you use the back button it doesn't refresh (although I ghuess you will have also clicked on the link!) Very odd

PillockOfTheCommunity · 13/08/2008 19:32

haven't read anything except top few posts - GM - the Mumsnet Local posts only show to people that have joined your MN local group - so unless SPB is in the Scots one that applies she won't see your thread - does that help?

very good and you looked stunning, so in about 3 years time do you think I will be slim enough to fit into that dress????????

runnyhabbit · 13/08/2008 20:19

Evening all

Right, have decided to update you all on my news, and then I can focus on catching up

J has got appt tomorrow with speech therapist tomorrow. From the info we've given them, the referral team seam to think he's in the normal spectrum. Tomorrows appt will confirm either way.

W has got his appt with cardiology on Fri morning. Its the first time we're seeing someone since his murmur was diagnosed. He's got an appt on 15th Sept about his enlarged liver - which is also J first day at school.
Have been worrying myself sick over this. This might sound melodramatic but "tumour" keeps going around in my head. Dh brother and his cousin both died from the same type of childrens cancer
Totally irrational, I know. And I try not to think of it, but when I do, I'm nearly in tears

Work going really well - a bit too well, because they keep hinting at me working fulltime. Not on your nelly I've told my boss a little bit about W, more so that they know that I might need extra time off for appt, and she insisted that I take his appts as paid parental leave.

J and W are now in their own bedrooms. Sharing just wasn't working out as they keeping each other awake - which meant 2 very grumpy boys. J loves having the big bedroom all to himself, and is able to have his trainset out without W taking it apart

(( ps, is it weird to have missed a group of friends, most of whom you've never met?))

oooggs · 13/08/2008 20:23

hi runny - you have been missed

glad you are back on line and that work is going well

our children cause us worry from the minute they are conceived - so no doubt you are worried about their appts. keep us informed, they will be fine (and so will mummy )

PillockOfTheCommunity · 13/08/2008 20:30

runny!!!!!!!!!

good to have you back, and if you're weird, so are we

Oooggs - don't give me that 3 year nonsense, as soon as you stop popping sproggs you'll fit it - I met you remember!

Have done a bit catching up so here goes...

ooogggs - I personally love the name Lucy Agree with the otehrs that Lily would def go with your surname, and is very pretty. What about Rose? And very of you eating a hot meal. I'd forgotten what one of those was.

elkie - like the others have said, me and dh came very close to breaking point after having J. Dh was working a lot of overtime (looking back, I think it was his way of escaping) and it took a lot of effort to get back on track. But you will get there

MJ - coffee and cake needed very soon

sol - are you coming down to Wales soon? will have to gatecrash meet up And W is currently in sleepsuit and nothing else. He gets really hot in the nights. But he's fast growing out of the sleepsuits, so we'll be moving onto pjs.

pesha - fab news about moving and the job

and hello to everyone else

hope I haven't missed anyone!

Sexonlegs · 13/08/2008 20:40

Evening all.

Runny, lovely to see you. What a lot of worries in the Runny house. Really hope everything goes well with the various appointments.

Elkie, I am really sorry you and dp are going through a rough patch.
Dh ad I were the same when B was born. Not straight away, but probably at about the age they are at now. Everything became a competition, ie who was the most tired. I hope you can sit down and chat and sort something out. Thinking of you.

POTC, fab pics, and you looked wonderful

Oooggs, sounds like you had a great day

Caz, lovely to see you my dear.

MJ, did the rain stop? Hope you are ok.

GM, good to see you. How are your lovely kittens?

Pesha, fab news about the house and the teacher training. You don't do things by half do you???

SPB, how is T?

Any word from Dippy?

Eddas, hope you had a lovely time in your new car.

Brain emptied.

Had a lovely day today. We went horse-racing with my parents, brother, sil and their 2 youngest. The weather was shocking but we still had fun.

Now watching crap TV and waiting for dh to come back. Still feel pretty rough; can only think it is some sort of virally thing.

Hope you are all well. xx

runnyhabbit · 13/08/2008 20:40

don't think the boys will be going to bed for a while went swimming this morning, and then went straight to soft play, which meant they were shattered when we came home (tbh, so was I, and I've got a stinking cold atm) so we all fell asleep- W for 2 hrs, me and J for an hour still we've got a late start tomorrow

CaptainDippy · 13/08/2008 21:31

Yey runny and caz came back

elkiedee · 13/08/2008 22:34

Hi all, welcome back Caz and Runny.

Thanks for the sympathy all.

Soon after I last posted, CM's daughter rang me to say that they were worried about D and that I should get a doctor's appointment. He had a rash developing on his legs. I got a late afternoon appointment and was talking about the situation to my boss, who's very nice about all this actually. Then a more senior boss came in to talk about a very important project for over 40 minutes! I was just about to slink off to call CM back when she rang again to say that it wasn't as urgent as she'd made it sound initially, so I agreed to get D in time for his appointment.

Practice nurse and doctor both saw D in the end as doc was called in for second opinion to check. Most of the more alarming things were ruled out I think as the prescription was for an anti-histamine medicine, something to soothe symptoms. We met my dad as planned, only earlier at the surgery instead of at home/park, and D was clearly very happy to see grandad and bounced up on to his lap for a hug. Then we went to the sports centre cafe (it's near the doctor's) and D reassured me by running around like a mad thing and scoffing cake and fruit. He can't be that ill, basically.

Also, some more happy and exciting news - my sister on my dad's side of the family (my parents split up when I was a baby and each had a daughter and a son in 2nd marriage) is 12 weeks pregnant, due at the end of February. Bet her mum's excited too.

dp and I have talked a bit, I'm still upset and anxious about the fighting but hopefully we'll find our way through this. He was very shaken up by the news that CM was worried enough to contact me at work.

Sorry about the length of this ramble.

Eddas · 14/08/2008 07:30

elkie, glad d is ok, must've worried you being called at work. Glad you've spoken to dp too. As everyone ele has said it's such a tough time with a new family, it just makes the strain on your relationship so much worse. Dh and I didn't really argue pre-dc but we do snipe at each other a lot and then once in a while we have a big blow out arguement, usually brought on when dh has had a drink! but it clears everything up. I go around thinking it's just me finding it all hard and overwhelming but in reality dh is too, so it's nice to find out, even if it is within an arguement

It must be doubly hard atm for you with the pg and all the worries that brings, especially with what has happened with the tests. May I give you a {{{{{{hug}}}}}}

I'm expecting the rains again today so another day indoors dh has taken the car anyway so couldn't go too far. Plus I need to catch up on the washing

What's everyone else up to today

liath · 14/08/2008 07:45

Morning.

Lovely to "see" you Runny, sorry about the scan worries though.

Elkie, hope you & dp can work through this, like others we went through a very sticky patch after having dd.

Not sure what I'm going to do today - try and sort our finances I think!!

CaptainDippy · 14/08/2008 08:06

Glad D is ok Elkie Glad you & DP talked to.

Things not good between DH and I Struggling.

oooggs · 14/08/2008 08:12

the sun is shining!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not sure how long for though

elkie - IMO the 1st baby is the hardest (yes I still say that even after twins) they make the most dramatic change on your relationship and the cause the most change in life - I'm sure being pg isn't helping the emotiona and tiredness

hi caz - good luck with the move

dts both slept through and I didn't cos I have a stinking cold

oooggs · 14/08/2008 08:13

oh dear dippy - whats happened?

Eddas · 14/08/2008 08:18

{{{{hugs}}}} cd

oh dear oooggs do you have dc today? or are you able to have some rest at all?

sun shining here too atm, but it'll be
raining by lunchtime, according to the weather forecast!

oooggs · 14/08/2008 08:21

no children - they are at nursery until 4pm and I am home alone - I will rest today

StealthPolarBear · 14/08/2008 08:28

welcome back runny, hope appointments go well today and tomorrow. Will you get anything confirmed tomorrow as it sounds like you definitely need to have your mind at rest!
elkie, glad d is OK, I know what you mean about you can tell when they're ill, and when they're not! Could it be a reaction to his MMR? Sorry to keep going on about this but I know D is a week or so younger than T and I think it was a couple of weeks since T had his spotty phase
Dippy, what's up?
Hi everyone else. Getting ready to fly to Cornwall early Sat morning (but going to PILs tomorrow) so manic. DOes anyone know if we can take safety razors in hand luggage?

Eddas · 14/08/2008 08:38

that's good oooggs, make sure you do rest

spb, i'm not sure about the razors but i doubt it. they don't let you take much in handluggage these days.

I have a couple of questions,

What do you give dc for snacks during the day? I seem to only give them biscuits or raisins dd has more, things like apple but am in a rutt with ds'

Those of you that work and have school aged dc, what do you do with them during the holidays? I know it's a while until i'll have the problem, but i like to be prepared!

Thanks

geordieminx · 14/08/2008 08:41

Hey ladies; Just a quickie then off back to bed

Eddas - C has : satsumas, plums, banana, rice cakes, organix crisps, crackers, fingers of cucumber, dried fruit - he's ok with rasins but prefers the mixed ones with blueberries/cranberries/apricots in - fussy sod,

Thats about it really -there are other things - like cheese triangles and yoghurt but sadly that is usually a full meal for him as opposed to a snack!

oooggs · 14/08/2008 09:04

all dcs eat anything for snack - all fruits (apple sliced with skin on) biscuits, rice cakes, toast, all dried fruits, Humzingers (fruits sticks) cheese & crackers

school age children - ok I will be on mat leave but if I wasn't, dh works shifts, so here during day every other week, I work 3 days (when I go!!) and the nursery has a playscheme for school aged children 8am - 5pm £9 a day and take snacks & packed lunch (so can take ds1 when I take dts in)

My parents are also local my mum doesn't work and my dad is is a lecturer so has the hols off too.

DH is on back shift Oct half term so wi1l have ds1 and he shuts down between Christmas and New Year so will have him then

ds1 is so looking forward to playscheme to see his nursery friends again (non of them going to his school)
