Just dropped by quickly to say

CONGRATULATIONS, GINGER

Am secretly very - lucky you, and brave you.

Dd stood up on her own last Friday. She pulled herself up, let go and just stood there, not holding on to anything. Looks like trouble...

I feel bad for never responding enough to all your news, but just wanted to say how lovely it is to hear how you and all dcs are doing. I keep meaning to post more, and hope to find a few extra minutes soon.

Bessie xxxx

The nights sound like a nightmare Gill - hopefully they'll improve before you have to go back to work. Sounds like you've got a good arrangement - I work 3 days a week and it is the best of both worlds I think. And I too sometimes wonder if life would be 'quieter' if I had a gang of girls rather than boys. Not that I would change them for anything just really curious how little girls are. According to my mum I was very wild when I was little and very giggly like ds1 so if I'd had girls they may have been just as noisy.

swottybetty · 17/11/2008 14:53

heya all.

just back from 12wk scan. all fine! and can come out so have had a fun hour texting people ;-) and now i can dress pregnant which is fab cause its proving v hard to hide and i really want to look bump with bloom rather than fat with frown . egg, my sister was as disappointed as you'll be to know there's only one baby in there

omy, could your dh not build an alcove for another baby???? he sounds a bit too organised for my liking.

alkar i do feel for you and your MIL. if you've invited them up on xmas day and they've said no, then they cant moan about not seeing you on the day! this xmas is the last xmas we're going to rush from one part of country to another. when you've got little ones, i think you get to make the rules

hiya lovemymum. well done you and katie for getting used to nursery. will you be going back to work on thursdays and friday??

hey there bessie, have been wondering how you are. wd done to your dd for her solo standing! are you starting to think about work again yet?

oohh, that work set up sounds great gill. sorry to hear malcom's nights are still so interrupted. i do love the idea of him standing, waving and grinning from cot. how is building work going??

rozzy its great your dh will get to spend so much time with the boys and vice versa. are his shifts fixed enough so that you'll never have to worry about other childcare? i have bras in about eight different sizes.... and still none fit at the moment. bah

if strawbcornetto is lurking, hope works got a bit better.

we need a new thread name! any advances on lljkk's Lessons In How To Dress An Octopus.??

alkar · 17/11/2008 17:29

Great news swotty, did they alter your due date at all?

gingermumi · 17/11/2008 18:58

swotty X

beansprout · 17/11/2008 19:57

That's fab news swotty!

Went back to work today but it all went really well and my new boss wants to give me a pay rise!
Ds2 got on ok at the CM's but am going to bed early in case he wakes up in the night for some mummy time!

No 8 month check up here either (good job, we don't have time!) We have a theory that they call you in if you have not shown up on the radar, but if you have been to the GP etc in recent times, they leave you alone.

Alkar - bah to the in-laws and happy birthday for tomorrow!! Mine all routinely forget my birthday. Next!!

Yum, dh has just served up dinner.... have to go!

CountTo10 · 17/11/2008 20:47

Congrats Ginger that's fab news, now we have more than one person to vecariously live our pg dreams through!!

MissNat - love to you all at such a horrible time x

I'm shattered, went up to coventry saturday to sunday to meet up with an old uni friend and we had such a laugh. What an experience having all that time away. Typically ds2 slept right through till gone 7am but ds1 strangely woke up in the night and insisted on sleeping in with dp. I defo think that when I'm away overnight it really bothers him as he only does that when I'm away bless him. He's soooo obsessed with star wars at the moment I'm having to hide the dvds, I just can't cope with it anymore!!

Still needed the time out as dp finally confessed to me on fri night that he's managed to rack up £10k (yes £10k) in gambling debts on credit cards. Its been going on over a year and he's had to get bailed out by his parents who are releasing equity from their home which we've now got to pay back over a lifetime!! I was so angry although to be honest when he first started telling me I thought he was going to tell me he'd cheated so it could have been worse I suppose. I'm just so pissed off cause it means we're gonna be even tighter than we were and its just longer to be debt ridden. I don't think we'll ever be free of it

Poor old ds2 has got a cold, from nursery I think so a bit subdued. Picked him up today and he was exhausted!!

We have 8mth checks but they're supposed to be contacting us - needless to say they haven't so I've got to chase it up. Hv shouldn't be worrying about crawling, loads of babies never crawl, doesn't mean there's anything wrong with them. Honestly, why is it some are pedantic and others walk around with blinkers??!!

Anyway, now that rants over, hope everyone's ok and not to cold with this miserable weather

swottybetty · 17/11/2008 21:20

count hiya, had to stop in and say hello i am and and for you. i will now fess up that i managed to rack up slightly more than that on credit cards over three years gambling [shame shame shame]. dh has been amazing. i will never gamble again. it took a hell of a lot for me to get to where i am now tho' in my head. i really did not think i had a problem . every day still i regret the first time i ever did it. if you want to chat, happy to start another thread somewhere on MN. gambling is awful addiction,it really is. i have never told anbyone other than dh andmy sister about the sum of money involved before

mitfordsisters · 17/11/2008 21:48

Hello lovelies, I went back to work today and it was okay. Guaranteed the novelty will wear off, but all my colleagues were so friendly and chatty, and I have a new project to do so there's a challenge. DH was looking after DS, and when I got back, they were making a shepherds pie, ds in babybjorn wearing dungarees over his pyjamas - but had his little feet out because dh thought he was getting hot. When ds saw me he was like a smily windmill waving his arms with excitment - dh calls him a little diamond, and he is.

Count, so sorry to hear about the gambling business - what a devil. At least he's told you - have you taken his cards away?

Oh Gingermumi, what magic news! And glad the scan went well swotty (btw, if your dh fell in a ditch, he would surely just jump out and run home??). I would love love love another dc but we've agreed to wait til 2010 as our house is so mini.

Egg, I had wondered about the dt's puking, and glad it's a bit better.

And leesmum, really enjoyed your photos - you do have gorgeous babies.

Gill79 · 17/11/2008 22:10

Oh crap Count. Your MN name seems horribly apt. At least he has told you now but what a blow - not what you need at this point in life.

Happy birthday for tomorrow Alkar!

Glad to hear all's well with the little midget Swotty. And I am very glad it's not twins! Now breathe out and wear your bump with pride. Building work is 90% done but stopped which is really annoying - they're obviously just fitting us in with other stuff but we just want to be done. Also annoying is they got the floor wrong: didn't leave enough room for a suspended floor and so has to be concrete which will take three months to dry enough for us to lay laminate floorboards. Grrr. And we've discovered major damp in the front room . Never-ending job this home ownership!

Malc's had a bit of a hard day really - have really struggled to get him to eat anything. He's ok sometimes but has these periods of realy screaming and unhappiness. Fingers crossed for a good night though!

We've had no invitation to 8 month check-up btw.

OP posts:
swottybetty · 17/11/2008 22:56

count, sorry my post was inexcusably self centred. a more helpful response would have been to say that the turning point for me was the huge confession. the combo of shame and gratitude mean i will never ever do that to dh again.... and a small upside, i reckon i'm at least a slightly better wife since dh's forgiveness. am loads more likely to do washing up, hoover, shut up when i should and be an all round less selfish person than before ...

swottybetty · 17/11/2008 22:59

oh darn, that still sounded self centred.

rozzyraspberry · 18/11/2008 11:20

So pleased swotty - must be a relief that lo is ok. And lovely to see he/she for the first time.

Glad first days back at work went well Beansprout and mitsford. HV are the same here beanie as long as you go up to clinic now and again for weighing they leave you alone.

Count - so sorry for you to be in that amount of debt. Probably a good idea to chat to swotty or others about it - is your dh getting any counselling or help to help him control it?

Swotty dh shifts are fixed although they're on an 8 day rotation so he doesn't work the same days every week. Luckily because we know long in advance when he will be working my work are happy to let me work around him so I don't work the same days every week. So never need childcare which is great as I really couldn't afford to work only 3 days if we had nursery fees to pay.

Hope everyone is well.

missnatalie · 18/11/2008 15:12

Hi everyone

FIL has his op yesterday. Hes still in intensive care but nurses said that he had a stable night. There hoping to move him to the high dependancy unit later today. DP was a complete wreck yesterday but was much better one FIL was out of theatre and he was able to see him. He was sat up in his bed talking (although he was completly drugged up to the eyeballs) too so that must be a good sign.

Im thinking that i may have made a mistake about giving up work & . I keep seeing adverts about the palce on the tele (the Homeserve adverts) and i remember the good times that i had there. I know deep down that ive made the right decision really but i still miss the place now and again.

Im on day 1 of the juicing diet and it seems to be going ok so far. Although ive got the worst headache, feeling really dizzy and tired. The book says to expect these kind of symptoms as there due to my body getting rid of the build up of crap. Beleive me theres alot of crap to get rid of .

Henley has been playing up for the last 2 days. He wont eat and if he does its hardly anything and his bedtime routine is completly out. Some nights he not going to sleep until 10-10.30. Lastnight was a good night. I put him down at 9pm. He eventually went to sleep around 9.30pm, woke for a feed at 6am and then back to sleep until 9.30am. Hes holding his bottle himself now so thats one less job for me and more sleep for me too .

Glad the scan went well swotty its lovely to see the little jelly beans for the 1st time isnt it xx

Egg · 18/11/2008 15:50

Hurrah Betty that's great news. Obv am gutted it's not two but tbh I wouldn't wish it on you!!!

Count am so sorry you have had such a shock re your DH and gambling, Betty sounds like she is talking sense (for once ,and fingers crossed now it is out in the open you can work through it. Thank god it wasn't an affair...

Missnat fab news that your FIL made it through the op. It shows what a good person you are to be able to support your DP through this despite what your FIL has done. Be careful on the juice diet, don't let yourself get dizzy etc from lack of food (says Egg who eats so sensibly ).

I am very impressed with Henley. I have been trying very hard to convince the twins to hold their bottles but they will only do it when they are not interested in actually drinking, and not when they are desperate for milk. I dislike feeding them together still as it means I can't do anything else as have no hands free and DS1 gets left out. I was sure they would be feeding themselves their milk by 8 months, let alone 10!

Hope Henley starts eating more again soon. I worry every time one of mine eats very little that they wont sleep. DD still has a very sore throat and despite eating well she threw everything up an hour ago after a full bottle of milk. Now she has fallen asleep poor thing.

Well done to Beany and mitfords on your first days back at work. Glad it went ok for you Beany and at the prospective payrise!

I know I am missing replying to some posts but I previewed this a while ago and now it wont let me see the other messages any more, so will have to post it and then look back.

gingermumi · 18/11/2008 16:46

Thanks for all the congrats, early dayus but am hoping all will be ok.

Glad all went ok Beany and mitfords.

Hope you're ok count, not sure what to say, perhaps swotty can help?

Gill hope malc has a better night, sounds miserable.

Glad FIL got through op ok missnat, fingers crossed for you that it's onwards and upwards. Take care.

Ds wont hole his bottle unless he feels like it (which isn't very often!) and we never had an 8 mnth check! Oh well he seems fine.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 18/11/2008 16:53

Hi all,

Miss nat glad to hear your fil has got thru the op and is recovering, good for you being so supportive too,

DD has 3 teeth now- i knew she would get them really quickly but not this quick- 3 teeth in a week is good going imo, (top two and one at the bottom!!!!!) she too holds her own milk, and would rather do that than let me do it, she finger feeds really well now too, i give her fresh fruit (apple banana pear, strawberries and blueberries,DS has the same too which is good!!! oh and she loves chopped up grapes too!!!)and toast for brekkie usually as she is not impressed with porrige or cereal at all any more, she does really well and rarely misses her mouth!!!!lol (dont know who she might get that from lol!!!!!)

oh she had a jam sandwich on sat too!!!!

Count, sorry to hear about your money troubles, very good of pil to bail your dh out must be a relief to know you have not got to arrange loans and the like, still must be hard though, dh and i have debts from over spending and living the high life a few yrs back, when i gave up work after having harry we didin't change our habits and over spent etc, credit cards became a fall back and hind sight is a wonderful thing),we asked dh' s parents and they were appalled and told us it was our mess so deal with it!!!! we went to cab and they were great, we are paying it off slowly but surly, but its a hard thing to get out of, i am sure you and your dh will get through it xxxxx

Swotty great news on your scan, oh i am so jelous!!!!!! hope you are resting as much as possible, xxx

wd on returning to work guys, hope all is going well,

off to finish dinner before heading out to work now, spk later,

xxx

rozzyraspberry · 18/11/2008 20:14

Glad fil op went ok missnat - must be a relief for your dh.

Egg/ginger have you tried giving your lo's their milk out of a cup - they might sit in their high chairs and be able to hold that better? My older 2 both drank their milk better out of a cup than a bottle from around 10 months and it was great to get rid of the bottles.

Is your ds1 excited about Christmas Egg - I always find that they are a lot more aware of it when they're around 3 - very exciting!

Glad your lo is enjoying her food Sarah. Andrew also eats really well now which is a relief because it took him a while to get into it. And congrats on the 3 teeth - you did say she's been a bit grisly didn't you? No wonder poor thing.

alkar · 19/11/2008 10:21

Good news about your FIL missnat

Had a good birthday yesterday and got to re-live my teenage years! Went out for the first time since having DS last night, DH stayed in with him. Me and the girls went to manchester to watch extreme!!!! We went when we were 17 so it was really weird going back 16 years later and I even remembered some of the words . If anyone remembers them nuno still looks good

Egg · 19/11/2008 13:49

I REMEMBER NUNO!!! I saw Extreme at Donington Festival when I was about 18 and they got bottles of wee thrown at them as they were a bit "soft" for the Donington crowd. I loved them though! Glad you had a good bday, sounds like a great night out. I am going to see New Kids on the Block in January in London, which means a night away from home and a night in a hotel! Woohooo. I saw them in concert when I was 14 or so. Am sure they will not be as good as Take That are now, but it should be fun!

Sarah 3 teeth in one week! Wow. Poor Rosie!

Rozzy they will hold their own cups for water (always give them a cup each with meals), but they tend to take sips, spit a bit out, take a sip more, then wave cup around and spray their hair etc... I keep thinking I should offer them their afternoon milk in a cup as it is not an "important" feed now, but am nervous of the mess!

DD has been very sad today. I think her throat is hurting a lot. More silent sobbing. It is heartbreaking .

Ooh Rozzy, DS1 doesn't seem that excited about Christmas yet, only that he is getting a basketball (really must buy the damn thing!). We keep talking about it excitedly but I don't think he quite gets it. He is excited about his nursery Christmas concert and party though. We have an ice rink and Christmas market here starting next week and I took him to see them setting it up yesterday. He is excited about the ice rink and wanted to know if DS2 was going to have a go . He seems to suddenly love DS2 after months of only liking DD. He keeps saying "come and play with me DS2, chase me DS2, come and build a tower with me DS2" etc. They are so sweet playing chasing together, poor DD really misses out.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 19/11/2008 14:19

aaawwww egg- your boys sound so sweet, poor DD< i am sure before long she will be playing too and am sure will be the boss!!!!!

Rosie has woken today full of cold, bless her, she has been asleep since half 12, gotta wake her to get ds soon, keep popping in to check her,

i have a had such a lazy day today, ds managed to pull the door knob off the cupboard where i keep my iron and hoover- and i cannot open the damn thing so i cannot do either, but i feel like i should be doing something!!! have curry in slow cooker for dinner though.

am going to get them pics added of my xmas hampers etc latet today

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 19/11/2008 14:20

ohand no idea who nuno is btw!!!!! but glad you had a fab birthday alkar, xxx

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 19/11/2008 15:17

right ladies my piccies are on- what do you think?????

swottybetty · 19/11/2008 15:49
