good morning everyone!

I have caught up... and forgotten.

Been busy here. Trip to A&E on saturday. DS threw himself backwards off of the couch and hit the table with the back of his neck. Cue vomit, screaming, goose egg skull.

He likes throwing himself backwards.

A&E said he was concussed and to keep ice on it.

He is right as rain now, but perhaps secretly aspiring to be a base jumper.

DS got the job with me but turned it down.

erm...anything else...?

got my dogs test results back. He is allergic to house dust mites and it is manageable - good - at a cost of about £150pm - bad.

Still not sure what to do. Can't afford that.

Diet has gone to shit and have gained about 4lbs. Nice one.

LackaDAISYcal · 13/08/2008 11:41

Hey fury...sorry to hear about DS and I hope he is OK. Did they x-ray him?

Poo about the dog. I didn't think dogs could get allergies in the same way that we can. Can you do stuff like getting rid of carpets etc and just having polished floors? would that help or will he still need the medication?.....Mind you replacing flooring throughout your house isn't a cheap option either.

I forgot to say yesterday, when we were in the shoe shop getting DSs new school shoes, DD took a shine to another little girl's dummy and was wandering around with it on her mouth. Said little girl had a stinking ponging streaming cold so I am waiting for the lurgy to hit here. I was a bit at the girl's mum as she had just left it on the trying on bench alongside a snotty tissue. you'd think she could have put it in her fecking handbag or something.

E cup yes me too we have found an AMAZING indian buffet place, we are going there on sunday as a celebration! On that note I meant to say DH (not DS!) got the job with me but turned it down, as his current job upped his package to keep him.

DS is fine, they didn't x-ray, just did all sorts of responsiveness tests and said he was fine. He does seem to be. I think they are pretty robust.

Daisy I read your thread, good luck with the books, they seem ideal. I have to admit that me working saves my sanity, SAHM is MUCH harder.

Daisy - yes believe it or dog dogs have all the same allergies we do. My dog is also allergic to red meat, but that one is easy... just don't feed him red meat!

We aren't sure what to do yet. Atm not too bad as he is insured, but that runs out in May (for this particular thing), after that who knows. We may have to make tough decisions.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 13/08/2008 12:37

Sorry to hear about your dog Fury. And about DS's fall. Glad he's OK and hope the dog will be too.

And hope Daisy's DD is OK too, and that those books help everyone.

Indian buffets sound yum by the way. They made muffin pizzas for the LOs at the children's centre this morning, and as I was watching jamlet eat hers I realised how hungry I was. I only had some bread and a few nuts last night, other than that I didn't eat all day. So have just had lunch and feel much better.

Jamlet has been a little subdued this morning, but not too bad, She has played well at the children's centre and ate her pizza well and everyone thought she was fine though her face isn't pretty at the moment. She fell asleep on the way home and is now snoozing in her cot, so I think I'll go up and check from time to time which I don't normally do, but hopefully she'll be OK.

Jammy if she is eating and playing ok she is probably fine, they do seem to bounce!

Ecup, we only got the basic pet insurance (doh) and they said they will only cover him for this ailment until May next year. After that we are on our own.

It depends on how well he reacts to meds, might be more £££, might be less. We're going to see how it goes until May and not worry about any decisions until then.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 13/08/2008 13:24

Thanks Fury, that's pretty much what i thought. I did just pop upstairs and as I opened her door I could hear her whimper, roll over and go back to sleep. Proof enough to me that she's alive and OK, I'll let her sleep on from now.

HellHathNoFury · 13/08/2008 13:44

oh dear I really need to lose weight - my work tousers are tight round my legs, not just the waist.... oh crap.

No more cookies for me then!

I reason with myself by saying things like "I am good at my job, I am a good mum, a good cook, good at budgeting, but I am crap at weight loss, oh well can't be good at everything" which works for about 5 minutes then I feel fat again.

No more cookies!!

foxythesnowfox · 13/08/2008 13:46

LO went through the recycling, pulled out the trigger part of the kitchen spray and sucked on it. Not sure if there was anything in the tubey bit. Am thinking as it is one of the Ecover type ones it might not be too poisonous? Pretty rank though. I'm sure she'd have put it down straight away. Yes, I did have a taste to establish what might have happened.

One of my children is still in pjs. Am trying very hard not to threaten/reward/punish. Tis tricky.

foxythesnowfox · 13/08/2008 13:48

LOL Fury. I agree, can't be good at everything!

You have all got Arnica cream in your first aid kits haven't you? Get through tubes and tubes of it here. And ice packs in the freezer.

My diet is going very well, SO COULD YOU ALL PLEASE DESIST FROM MENTIONING INDIAN BUFFETS.

I thank you.

HellHathNoFury · 13/08/2008 14:08

I have a sore bum from sitting on it all day. High time I joined the work gym I think.

LackaDAISYcal · 13/08/2008 14:22

We call arnica cream magic cream here as it magics bruises away.

i was a bit about it, but when DS was little I had walked into the corner of a table and had a mahoosive purple bruise on my hip. I slathered arnica on it, and that night when i took my jeans off, the bruise had started going yellowy already where the seams of my jeans had been pressing into my wobbly flesh. It was a very impressive sprayed on jeans effect actually . It is always in my kit and always lathered on first before pain killers are administered.

DD is looking incredibly pleased with herself. She has managed to unwrap DSs stick of rock that someone brought him back from their hols and is waving it round above her head .....best rescue it before she gets a taste for sugar and e-numbers.

I am of the "let them stay in their pjs" school of parenting. If we're not going anywhere we can last til mid afternoon before DD asks to get dressed.

Foxy, how are you getting on without DP? Mine announced yesterday he's off for a week next monday.

Sputnik · 13/08/2008 14:37

Hi Daisy, hope you're having a more relaxing day. My DD is off with the inlaws til tomorrow evening too.

LackaDAISYcal · 13/08/2008 14:40

I can't judge anyone's DCs today as i am still in my jammies myself

I need to go to the shops though to get something for tea as we have very little in.

I have just had to tell DD off for mithering the cat again. Poor daisy hisses and yelps and lifts a warning paw, but DD just laughs......I have tried the frim voice and that just gets ignored. Not sure how to deal with it as I don't want her to get badly scratched and am worried about the possibility of daisy getting her in the eye, but she just thinks the cat hissing at her is funny. And I can't punish the cat as all she wants is a nice quiet place to lie.

OP posts:
JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 13/08/2008 14:45

I found that when jamlet pushed her luck too far with pur cat, she was actually very gentle and only gave her a little scratch. Of course, that's no guarantee that (feline) Daisy will do the same.

LackaDAISYcal · 13/08/2008 14:48

Oh, I've had a couple of messages from Ria. Natty, she asked me to pass on her sympathies and hopes that your DH is OK.

and she might make it to the Yorkshire picnic on Friday . i hope she does.

Have put DD on the naughty step....she was belting the cat with the TV remote control and laughing when I told her off.

Why are my children like this? Waht have I done to deserve them? In the words of Travis, "is it because I lied when I was 17"

OP posts:
HellHathNoFury · 13/08/2008 14:56

I suppose I am lucky with my dog, DS beats him up and he just sits there and takes it and gives him dopey dribbly love in return.

Sputnik · 13/08/2008 15:00

Don't take it personally Daisy, I think the word "no" is really water off the duck's back at this age. Remove baby, remove remote, remove cat, distract.

Say hi to Ria, she is missed!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 13/08/2008 15:18

I agree, jamlet knows what I mean when I say "no" but 95% time ignores it. And 70% of time thinks it is funny. Even especially when I am stern.

foxythesnowfox · 13/08/2008 15:29

Yes, LO knows 'no' here. She gets told 'No' when she nips my shoulder with her teeth. She also knows to nod for yes and shake her head for no (which she does a lot at meal times and its getting on my nerves!)

Sputnik, we're OK now thanks. Found our groove, had some activities planned which makes a big difference. Not many days we don't go out of the house, but today is one of them. But we have made biscuits Was totally out of sorts after the hospital thing, but back to being serence, calm, Mary Poppins type now

Say hi to Ria from me too!

Fury, are you still in touch with the Lovely Derlor?

Breastfeeding is my key to weight loss. It is the reason why I am still going. That is probably wrong!

Storm (makes me see you as one of the X-Men, strutting in a silver jump-suit with flowing white-blond locks) what do you do for half an hour on the Wii-fit?

HellHathNoFury · 13/08/2008 15:31

I sent her a few emails but no response, sadly.

Wish she was still about.

Sputnik · 13/08/2008 15:36

Actually I think I have caught him saying "no" himself a few times lately, mostly when I try to feed him something he's doubtful about.

I have had my arms and legs chomped on a few times recently too, I think he's testing which other parts of mummy are edible.
