SalLikesCoffee · 10/08/2008 20:17

Uhm, think I'll wait for the wii fit to come back in stock in shops then, lol.

VictorianSqualor · 11/08/2008 08:53

Monmoo, second the thing about sugar falling being a cause of migraines, I had them when pg and used to try and eat something every couple of hours to keep my levels up.

Oma, why is it you're reluctant to introduce a bottle of FF? I think you've had some good advice here but I know I wouldn't introduce it because of the virgin gut, so even the support that it wouldn't mess up BFing wouldn't make any difference to me iyswim.

DS1 has hurt his foot, him and DP were playing yesterday and he bent his toes in some weird way and now his big toe is swollen. Apparently Doc can't do anything except tape it to another toe so no point in taking him for an x-ray or anything, DP feels terrible though.

We have an Escapee, Jet manages to get out of the box rather easily now, leaving her siblings behind meowing at her, sounds like something out of chicken run 'Yay!you're free, run for the hills!'

Oh, also, on the subject of baby einstein, there is a channel on sky called babytv which is pretty much the same, just a mismatch rather than geared to particular ages at certain times, Alex is fascinated by it so I've been using it to get the time to paint.(giving the walls a once over before we leave.)

OP posts:
MommyHasaHeadache · 11/08/2008 09:09

Hee hee VS - Gigi is also fascinated! It's channel 623 for anyone that doesnt know!

SalLikesCoffee · 11/08/2008 12:06

I don't have Sky . Don't really watch enough tv to make it worthwhile either though, but still. [tantrumming todler emotion]

Here it's been battle of the wills this morning. R is so tired he can't keep his eyes open properly, but will show me that he's a big boy... I've resorted to putting him in his growbag on the sheepskin at my feet and jumping up every 30 seconds to put dummy back. Hmm no, while typing this (which has taken me about 20 mins so far!), I gave in. Luckily he was eventually willing to drink (or really only comfort suck) from me again, and has now passed out in my arms. I think I'll just stay in this position for an hour or two!

Scorpio, have you received your Wii Fit? If so, tell.

VS, poor DS1. At least it doesn't sound serious (not that it would help for the pain, but still). Hope he feels better (and DP less guilty) soon. Boys always get hurt though, so if I were him I wouldn't beat myself up.

LadyBee · 11/08/2008 12:26

damn it - just wrote post, then lost it. What a pain.
typing one-handed so pls excuse abbreviations. Found babytv on virgin+ channel 703. It's not included on our package but there are six episodes on tv on demand for free, which is good.

I have a huge bruise on my chest where DS kicked against me while I was changing him - he's such a strong boy. I've uploaded a couple of photos from this weekend (at least I think I have).

Peachy · 11/08/2008 12:29

I got the complete b- einsten set on amazon for £23, the ds's liked them. It's going to be a Chrstmas present.

Haven't been on in ages- holiday- so anything important happened? Ten metre high pile of washing, no time to read entire thread.

Holiday was good but a bit sad as we had to get moved to be close to disabled facillities as ds3 lost his potty training skills - hopefully he will regain them now home. DS1 also needed to use disabled toilet but dh got told offvor taking him in as apparently they're only for wheelchair users?????/ that was at the glastonbury abbey extrravaganza (kate nash shite, feeling magnificent) and there was a 150 person queue for loo in interval, ds1 gets 2 minutes notice maxof needng loo

SalLikesCoffee · 11/08/2008 12:31

Ladybee, can he stand already??? He really is a strong boy! Cute pics.

VictorianSqualor · 11/08/2008 12:33

He has an aura of Homer Simpson.
Hmmmmmm...........beer

OMaLittle · 11/08/2008 12:34

Hello all! Thanks SO much for all your support, am very touched. Glad to hear all seems to be settling down for most of us.

VS, yes, virgin gut, and also the fact that as long as I can express (although my rubbish milk now also spoiling in FRIDGE! WTF?) I don't see the point because I just don't think it would guarantee more sleep so why do it? I am definitely going to push on until at least Fri. She did 11 and 3.30 (both me! both over 75 mins to feed and settle, though) last night which is great, woke at 6 but I just got her out of her cot and put her on me and she slept until 7 (would have gone longer but for DD1 getting up so I had to move). Think she is now in the 'sleep' phase of the growth spurt so feeling more confident that that's what it was. With any luck I will be a sleep-filled breastfeeding vessel of joy on Friday. Right now am trying to feed but she keeps breaking off to grin at me! So feeling much better in general.

Here are some photos, btw

DD1 (needs updating)

DD2

Excuse the minging one of no-sleep me!

We are having serious potty-training regression here . My hands are practically bleeding from so much washing and I think my feet have a permanent coating of dilute wee. I think it's because she's got a bit of a runny tummy - can anyone verify this can cause it?

SalLikesCoffee · 11/08/2008 12:37

Ladybee - Hehehe, and I think he fancies some beer tbh.

Hi Peachy, nice to see you again! Glad you enjoyed your holiday, but to hear about toilet issues. People are just idiots sometimes - hope your DH told them to stop being so ignorant.
Hmm, Amazon then for b-einstein? I'll have a look. (In case you haven't seen, which I hope , I've got a disastrous e-bay history...)

SalLikesCoffee · 11/08/2008 12:50

Hi OMaLittle! Glad you're feeling a bit better, have been thinking of you these last couple of days. I had to laugh at your "excuse the minging one of no-sleep me", as I couldn't find it. If it's the one with your two with you (can't see any other with you on), you're silly and I'm dying of embarrasment here, because you look beautiful there. If you fancy having a good laugh, I could send you one of me looking tired. But then, you might have nightmares as a result...

VS, x-posts on Ladybee's party animal

SalLikesCoffee · 11/08/2008 12:58

I added some pics on Roelof's flickr last night here. I'm very lazy with the uploads, normally takes my mom nagging me for a week, but once it's up it is quite nice to look back (especially when he's crying, then the smiley faced ones seem to suggest there are quiet periods too! )

(I've however had to delete all the pics DH took of me where I looked like death itself. Which were most of them...) Slightly annoyed that none of the parents seem to miss my lovely little (not, but still, what happened to motherly love and all that) face! How we fall in importance, hey! Good thing I love R to bits, but I now feel slightly sorry for the cats, as they must feel the same.

scorpio1 · 11/08/2008 14:21

Hello

OMa you sound a bit perkier , good!

MonMoo · 11/08/2008 16:19

OMa - my dd1 also had serious potty training regression for a couple of months after dd2's birth - is it an attention thing, I have no idea? Seems to have pretty much sorted itself out again now though although she still often shouts "damp knickers mummy" but when I check them they are fine. Hence me thinking attention.
Have been to docs today and got some migraine prevention stuff (beta blockers so wil be v chilled out for a while now....!) so feeling more positive about things now. Can take them while bf so hopfully will be able to carry on now - although have already dropped quite a few feeds.

Denny185 · 11/08/2008 17:28

OMa glad to hear you sounding much more chirpy and that DD2 seems to be settling again. Potty training and regression, I think there are many things that can cause them to regress, certainly a runny tummy can cause some problems. Changes in routine/environment are supposed to be another problem (ie Peachy's DS3 and holiday).

Have to share last nights escapades with you all, after a poor nights sleep (not sure why) just managed to get back off and DH light came on at 6am (one of those touch lights), feeling cross that he had turned it on in his sleep but it hadnt woken him I lent over him (ensuring I was rough enough to wake him) to turn it off. Less than a minute later it came on again, I politely asked what the he was doing when mine came on aswell Do you reckon we have a ghostly presence or just screwed up electrics?

Loving all the pics BTW, cant believe R is standing up!

LadyBee · 11/08/2008 17:31

MonMoo, good news on the preventative meds, hope they do the job. Will make a huge difference to not have a migraine every couple of days, won't it? I honestly don't know how you've survived until now..

OMaLittle - I did some more searching on that lipase issue, see this thread on the LaLecheLeague forum - it looks like if you have a bottle warmer (or got one) & cooking thermometer, and worked out a time/heat setting to heat up whatever you express to 160F for 15secs, that should stop your milk spoiling, without too much added hassle. .
Glad to hear the sleeping is starting to sort itself out again, long may it last.

rDS not so much standing as leaning, but his balance and strength is pretty good. He's fascinated by glasses at the moment, whether they have water, beer or 'bena in them! He's gnawing my shoulder as I type though, better pay him some attention

MommyHasaHeadache · 11/08/2008 17:37

Glad you sound happier Oma! The offer still stands however! Sorry to hear about the potty regression - hopefully it is just a phase that shall pass.

Sal - R is toooooooo gorgous! You have some really great pics of him! You made me laugh about what you said about your cats - mine used to be my babies - and were treated as such - now they are my babies when I have time!

Monmoo - I'm pleased you have been to the doc - and now hope the beta blockers help!

Gigi slept until 4am last night! Hoping (tuching wood, rubbing rabbit feet, etc.) that this will carry on and she will sleep later and later (PLEASE!) Scorpio - were your other 2 children as good sleepers?

OMaLittle · 11/08/2008 17:45

Thanks all, nice to be feeling chirpier! Said to DH as I went to bed on Sat 'God, it's so nice to feel happy' and he said that was the best thing he'd heard in ages.

Now, just got the following email from my Dad - sure he won't mind me posting it on the internet .

"Eve has a current regime of feeding that is not satisfying her at night. On Thursday evening I observed you giving breast feeds for as long as she could suck. Did she stop each time because she had got enough? After this she was smiley and enjoyed her bath and went to sleep pretty soon. And yet she was unsettled within a half-hour and crying in the cot after and inspite of the my usual soothing efforts. She became inconsolable having sucked the flesh around my biceps wher she was able to taste the smear of your breast milk I had
acquired during the winding period. She had the scream of a child feeling angry ++ because she was hungry and she was not prepared to allow this " This must be satisfied and quick, if not i will blow your house down! "

We have discussed the calorie/growth-spurt miss-match on several occasions. In my opinion, if you have not already embarked on , you should start straight away introduction of formula milk as a regular addition in evenings. I predict that in a short time she will have enough to give you six to eight hours sleep most nights.

I believe the expressed milk is not going to satisfy her on its own because it is inadequately
calorie-rich. We agreed you should not feel you have failed by needing to do this. After 17 weeks of trying everything else to get the sleep you need to care for two children every day.

So, my advice is to start tomorrow. "

Bless him, he really does care, but I don't want to...

Piccalilli2 · 11/08/2008 17:47

Hello ladies

I haven't been on here for ages so won't even try to catch up this time - I was feeling too demoralised about my non-sleeping baby when everyone else was clearly doing so much better than me.

Zoe's just come through what I hope was the 16 wk growth spurt, during which she was not settling til 10/11 then waking every hour. Last night she slept 9-2 then woke another 3 times but just for really short feeds and we're co-sleeping now so it actually felt like progress. I'm utterly knackered though, she still won't take a bottle so I'm doing all the night feeds and she doesn't sleep for longer than 20 mins during the day so no chance to catch up then either. Dh has been banished to the spare room as I don't trust him to co-sleep and is starting to moan about it. Oh, and depressingly as I've been so tired I've been comfort eating and the weight is starting to go back on again.

Right, whinge over, will now try to catch up with the thread and post more regularly in future.

MonMoo · 11/08/2008 19:04

That sounds really rough. My dd1 was a terrible sleeper so I can sympathise.DD2 better but we are nowhere near going through the night yet. So you are def not alone in not having made it to the holy grail of 'through the night'! Wish I had some advice that would help you but it sounds like you're doing everything you can so just hang in there and remember "it is not forever" which is my mantra at the moment! Seems a shame to wish the time away but when its hard you just can't help it sometimes can you?

SalLikesCoffee · 11/08/2008 19:07

OMaLittle - clearly your dad cares loads and loads about you. But phew, no pressure there then! Good luck with whatever you decide, but I can see what you mean about the pressure to ff - I somehow thought it was more general "hints" etc.

Hi Piccalilli, good to see you again.

Hmm, your talk of potty training makes me slightly nervous... Please please please promise to stay here so that you're still around for me to badger you ask when the time comes for tips!

I'm covering my ears on all the good news re the sleepers - Roelof's decided that he NEEDS food every 3 hours max. No negotiating about it or dummies, MILK. (Hence the chubby cheeks.)

blinks · 11/08/2008 19:34

Hello people

Can I belatedly join you or is this a closed affair? Had DC2 on 22/04/08.
