Good luck with your flight Clara, any tips for mine??

Melly sorry you've found going back to work hard, I can only imagine. Although at times I do wish I could be sat at a desk child free for a bit!

OMG OMG OMG DS just walked the length of the sofa, next to it but not holding on!! He was shouting BOOB BOOB BOOB as he did it then lunged at me so maybe he was too preoccupied to realise he wasn't holding on!

Had awful day today!

Melly I had an op on my shoulder when dd was 5 weeks. Was told not to lift anything but obviously I did and it split my stitches and I have a huge ugly scar now

insywinsyspider · 14/10/2008 19:38

forgot to say clara - thanks for snack ideas, round cheese is babybel couldn't find it in supermarket so went for emmental and ds loves it, fruit is also good but messy when out so sandwiches seem way forward when out and about - both of mine have turned their nose up at cucumber

don't get too excited by ds 'walking' only 2 steps and he's not vaguely interested now although looks promising that he'll be walking before I get v heavily pg, ds1 wasn't walking till 16 mo and then was quite wobbley for a while so had to carry him all the way thro pg, hopefully will avoid that.

ds2 got another tooth now - anyone elses lo's just a dribbling monster? he won't keep a bib on and is soaking wet all the time, I have to change his t-shirt 3-4 times a day

insywinsyspider · 14/10/2008 19:39

also clairey - wow at ds walking! lol at his motivation tho!

Ambi · 14/10/2008 22:56

A very quick scan through congrats insy - you crazy lady, I'm so happy for you though!

Suey - how frightening is that things get so dark so quickly, I've been there before, luckily your GP helped you out and you're feeling better.

Just a quickie before I go to bed, Lou has finally got her first tooth! a couple of weeks ago, she was a nightmare at work, but is much better now. She crawled backwards for the first time today and hated every minute of it. She chatters away, her favourite word being bab ?!? whatever that means, but she'll repeat it after I say it which is cute and also mimics shaking her head after I do it. I think she'll be walking quite late though.

It's not long til the MN Manchester Xmas Do, I wish that some of you guys were coming though, or that we could have some sort of meet-up but we're all so spread out - not least clara and buzzy!

Night all
xx

AmBOO · 14/10/2008 22:58

Yay, a halloween name!

claraquitetirednow · 15/10/2008 05:39

quickie from me, too busy to be on here really, smacked wrist...

Louise - a very good friend of mine was exactly where you are, was very traumatised by her birth experience, didn't want another baby etc etc etc. However, when me and another friend from our NCT group fell pregnant with our 2nd, I think she started to get broodier and broodier. And finally took the plunge and got pregnant again. Anyway, during the pregnancy, she talked things through with her midwife and by the time the birth came round, she was fine about it. Everything went well and she now has a lovely bouncing ds2. It is too early for you to be worrying about it, just put it out of your mind for now, enjoy your little one and don't stress about whether to have another or not. If you decide you do want another, you'll know when the time is right - it's just different for all of us.

BT - packing is a nightmare as we are havign to do it three ways - 1) suitcases for Thailand, which includes some cold-weather clothes for when we first get back; 2) Unaccompanied Air Freight, which will be a couple of trunks, dd1's bike and a couple of other things and should arrive soon after we get back and 3) Sea freight, which we probably won't have until January as it will go into storage if it gets back before we get into our house...

Claireyboooooo - the only tips I have for the flight is keep them up beforehand if possible so they are as tired as possible and Medised as soon as you get on the flight (if it is a night flight) to encourage them to sleep. Ask for your food to be served separately from your dh as if you have them together your ds will probably pull everything onto the floor (if anything like mine). Keep calm and repeat to yourself over and over: "This will not go on forever, this will not go on forever". I can't remember when you are off but good luck and have a great time!

Ok - good news is dd2 has slept through the night about three times in a row. Bad news is she still wakes about 5.30am every morning. And/or dd1 comes into our bed every night. Oh well.

Witchka · 15/10/2008 10:46

Clara - get on with it. I don't want to see you on here until everything is in boxes . Poor you.

Ambi - ds likes the shakey head thing too. He also does a wide eyes, narrow eyes thing that his dad taught him. He thinks its hilarious. Occasionally I wonder why he seems to be squinting until I realise he's trying to play with me.

I've got DS's cold now - too much snot coming out of him to avoid it. And he sneezes his porridge all over me in the mornings. My work clothes have spots all over them. Must remember to wear a dressing gown over my work clobber. Luckily only one wake up last night, at 4.30 so can't complain.

Louise76 · 15/10/2008 13:10

Insy, Wizz, Melly, Clara - thanks for your kind words!! MN is great for things that you don't talk readily about in RL! If people ask about the birth I do tell them that I found it terrible but I usually make a joke of it so I'm sure everyone is expecting me to develop the amnesia thing that Wizz was talking about.

I have been thinking about talking it over with someone as I know that I need to do that if I ever want to have another baby. I've been terrified of childbirth my whole life so part of me can't believe I've actually lived through it!!

Witchka · 15/10/2008 14:09

Louise, so happy to be able to help, even if it was just a bit. You must be experiencing some kind of post traumatic stress thing and there are people who can help you.

skidaddle · 15/10/2008 16:37

oh no I've no time to post but just wanted to say say insy [gri n]

Arcadie · 15/10/2008 19:45

Skid long time no hear from you. Hope all's well and that you just can't get near the computer because your LO is busy walking / talking and learning the piano!

AmBOO · 15/10/2008 21:10

louise, I scanned so fast I missed your post! Its early for me too but I'm debating on having another. I may feel differently in a few years time and of course I've kept the baby things just in case but I love just having lou and currently don't want another. DH and I discussed this before we were married and having one child was what we planned as neither of us enjoyed growing up with siblings. I feel the opposite to you where I had an easy preganacy and birth and afterwards hormones had me believing I could do it every year, but as time has gone I want another baby less and less.

cazzybabs · 15/10/2008 21:15

louise I have a friend who is only having 1 ds because she hated giving birth (I've never asked her exact reasons) ... he is nearly 4 so you are not alone

insywinsyspider · 15/10/2008 21:40

hi all

thanks skid - think your message summed up how we feel about it! although had meeting with my line manager today, he offered me an ace job and I know I have to tell him I'm pg and I can't take it, its crap because I'll have to spend 5 months doing a job I don't like, its so hard to be away from dc's for a job thats not rewarding

louise - glad its helped x

insywinsyspider · 16/10/2008 09:36

off for a girlie weekend away and already feel v teary bout it - its 3 nights, dh has taken time off work but I kind of wish I wasn't going!

worked out I'm actually only back at work 4 months as I want to leave when 34 wks this time

hope you all have lovely weekends x x

Witchka · 16/10/2008 14:02

Insy - is there no way you can take the job? It would be a shame not to. Can't you tell them you're pg after you've accepted the job?

Witchka · 16/10/2008 14:04

Insy - I always feel like that when I go out away from DS and DH. Have turned down many a night out because I feel I miss DS too much and feel guilty for DH stepping in on the babysitting front all the time. You'll end up having a really nice time if you do go.

Witchka · 17/10/2008 11:05

Where is everyone? Note to self, must get a life, or a more interesting job and stop mumsnetting.

suey2 · 17/10/2008 11:13

I'm here wizz! Feeling muchbetter- yesterday a real turning point. No panics since Monday and the anxiety has gone, too. Still feeling flat, but the doc reckons I will be back to normal in six weeks. How's rory?

Witchka · 17/10/2008 11:34

Suey that is wonderful news; the end is in sight. I'm sure you'll have good and bad days but it is good to hear things are improving so much for you.

Rory is great. He's sleeping really well at the moment which helps us all. I do feel like I hardly see him in the week though. just to give him breakfast in the mornings and bath him at night.

I'm going through a very broody phase now, I think partly because Rory is being so good and partly because I want to be on ML again and quit my job. Instead, I should probably be making the most of having a regular income and a steady job atm.

suey2 · 17/10/2008 11:55

I was broody until the pnd hit. We have decided to wait until next summer before trying for no2. It mustbe a relief to get some sleep now? Ikwym about missing them at work, though

Witchka · 17/10/2008 12:11

I'm wondering about what's best to do. I'd like to lose the baby/maternity leave biscuit weight before getting pg. And I want to give up bf before getting pg, but I never seem to get round to it. I also want a summer baby next time. I am thinking that I should get on with it soon as DH will be 50 in 2 yrs and I'm going to be 35 in June.

suey2 · 17/10/2008 13:20

yep I'll be 39 in July. I also fancy a summer baby- may would be perfect! Dh is determined to wait until we know I am totally better, which I think is right. I am still 3/4 stone heavier than pre pg and I would like to get rid of it, too

skidaddle · 17/10/2008 15:06

suey - great to hear you're feeling so much better and that your DH is being supportive. Are you on ADs now?

Witchka - I remember being very broody for no.2 at about this point after my DD. I had lunch with a friend who was pg and went straight home and announced (through broody tears) to DH that we needed to have another baby straightaway. He said no!

I am also a bit broody but definitely can't have another yet. We don't even think we'll be able afford to move to Oxford (which means a 5-6 hour commute for me ) let alone afford another baby... but as they say, if you waited until it was the right time then you'd never get pregnant! Good luck with whatever you decide anyway

clairey - at your DS shouting boob as he walked! DH thinks the best way to persuade DS to walk alone is for me to get my boob out when he is hungry and watch him run!! Have a great time in Botswana if you haven;t gone already

DD is 3 tomorrow and we're having a birthday party. She is SOOOOO excited. She got a Snow White birthday card in the post yesterday and was so pleased with it she took it to bed, slept with it all night, brought it downstairs for breakfast and then took it to nursery to show everyone! God knows how she'll react when she sees the big dolls house we've got her tomorrow.
