Hello people, is anyone there?

oh wizz - poor rory! let's hope the worst is over.

Wizzska · 02/09/2008 18:51

Cazzy - I had a friend who didn't get her periods back for ages after stopping bf. She got them in the end but not before having a pg panic and taking a test. She said she felt like she did when she was first pregnant for quite a long time. I'm quite annoyed I've got mine again although they are light, even though i'm still bf.

No periods here at all not a spot....still BF bedtime, first thing and any night feeds...no chance of being pregnant though am not touching H with bargepole

suey2 · 02/09/2008 20:21

och well, wizz apparently it is a sign you are very fertile. My ma never stopped having her three weekly periods and she bf all four of us!

Caz10 · 02/09/2008 20:27

Another fertile one here!

My periods came back last month, and I am still bf-ing dd 3 times a day when I am working, more often at the weekends, and about ooooh a trillion times at night! Not that I have any intention of putting my fertility to the test, too damn tired just with one!

Those of you who have crawlers/walkers, what was your first clue that they were about to do it? dd has started this mad bouncing, both when help up on her feet, and when she's sitting down (often ends up launching herself onto her face on the floor) and I think it's a sign she's about to get moving!

Thanks for the milk info - she's taking so little atm I think I will just stick with no.1, and just think in 3mths we'll all be onto cows milk!!

Oh whizz, good luck for tonight, hope it's better!

Wizzska · 02/09/2008 20:28

Good, am glad if I'm fertile. Then I can have another quite soon and go on maternity leave again. I don't want to go back to work! How many times can I say that?

Spoke to a good friend of mine yesterday. She's done 3 rounds of IVF before discovering that her husband has a chromosomal abnormality as well as her having tight tubes. Poor lass, I can't say how grateful I am that I managed to get DS without any trouble.

New pic by the way.

aaaw gorgeous boy!

Wizzska · 02/09/2008 20:36

Caz - DS has been bouncing since he was 3 months! He started crawling just over a week ago. He used to get onto his tummy and try so hard to lift himself up to all fours and used to cry in frustration. Then all of a sudden he managed. He went from sitting forward to grab a toy and just went on from there just like you say face forward. Enjoy while she's still not mobile! They start getting into everything!

suey2 · 02/09/2008 20:58

great photo wizz! Gosh they are growing up quickly, eh?
Caz dd was on all fours first, then rocking like crazy, then bunny hopping before she walked

suey2 · 02/09/2008 20:59

sorry crawled

claraquitetirednow · 03/09/2008 03:56

Hi everyone. Just got back from nursery where I had to prise dd1 off me, screaming and crying again. I am off to post somewhere about it, try and get some sympathy from others who have been through it and reassurance that it gets better! I can't take her out as it is really pre-school and as she is almost three she really needs it. But boy do I feel mean!

Dd2 started pushing herself backwards before she crawled properly. Soon afterwards she started pulling herself up on anything and everything. Now she is very confident "cruising" round holding on to anything, even walking with her hands along the walls. But no sign she is ready to let go just yet....

insywinsyspider · 03/09/2008 09:48

I know a friend who had the same problem with her dd at nursery - how is she during the day after you've gone? My friend used to leave then go back and peak through the window after about 10 minutes and her dd would be playing quite happily, that made her feel better about it x x

skidaddle · 03/09/2008 10:59

oh clara you poor thing - I completely KNOW my DD will be the same when we go down to Oxford. I know it is hideous now but I would bet anything it will be a lot better in a couple of weeks if you can bear to wait that long - big hugs - i know how awful it is from when we put DD into nursery when she was one - I used to sob as soon as I got out the door - hang on in there and I'm sure it will pass relatively quickly

wizz - love Rory's stripey t-shirt - Milo has the same one
I have a friend who has fertility problems as well and it makes me feel so so lucky that I have had my two beautiful children with no problem - it is so unfair.
If you are dreading going back to work - is it an option not to go back?

caz - yes rocking and bouncing is def a precursor to crawling - enjoy the relative calm while you can!

No period here either but I am still BF a ridiculous amount! Speaking of BF, does anyone who is still BF have a plan about when to stop? I originally thought a year but now that it is approaching I can't imagine how I could stop without completely traumatising him. Don't think I want to BF for too much longer than that though... what is everyone else planing to do?

Wizzska · 03/09/2008 11:14

Hi Skid - I'm still bf but ds seems to reject me in the daytime. It may be that this may happen to you. They sometimes wean themselves when they are ready. Anyway, you have to do it gradually by introducing bottles and dropping feeds so the babies do get used to it. I always thought I'd have stopped by now but I seem to still be doing it because it's easy.

Yes, stripey top, H&M special!

OP posts:
skidaddle · 03/09/2008 12:44

wizz - i would keel over in shock if my DS self-weaned in the next year - he is completely and utterly addicted! I think it's rare for them to self-wean before 18 months unless they also have bottles and come to prefer them.. anyway i will see how it goes, no need to make any hasty decisions although I would prefer to bypass the whole formula thing by continuing until at least a year

H&M, that's it - couldn't remember where I had got it - Milo has about four of them - stripes are about the only thing that don't annoy me about boys' clothes - all those hammers and tractors and here comes trouble t-shirts do my head in!

suey2 · 03/09/2008 14:26

skid i plan to stop at one year. I haven't thought about it distressing dd tbh as she seems very happy with a bottle and now we are working on her drinking from a cup. We will also start ttc so I really need to stop then.
How's the PhD? Finished the thesis?

Wizzska · 03/09/2008 15:06

I think that must be the difference, DS has always had the odd bottle as well as bf. He's showing less and less interest in me and prefers the bottle these days.

OP posts:
suey2 · 03/09/2008 15:31

i will miss that lovely first bf of the morning though [sigh emoticon]

skidaddle · 03/09/2008 15:58

suey - yes we are working on the drinking from a cup thing as well, and hoping he will really take to that

I will miss the bedtime BF most

Thesis is not finished, not even close I'm afraid. Almost all conversations these days seem to open with, "Is it done yet?" which might be a sign it has been going on too long

BouncingTurtle · 03/09/2008 16:23

Hello all!

I'm plan to allow ds to self wean. As long as he has stopped before he goes to school
He isn't feeding as much as he used to and seems to be fine not being fed while at nursery but I had a really crap night with him, not wanting to settle wanting lots of feeds so he endedup in our bed last night - the night before he only woke up once!

macdoodle · 03/09/2008 17:49

oh well after my rant about teething - turns out that it wasn't teething and poor Lily has hand, foot and mouth disease - she is covered in a rash with little blisters on her hands and feet and in her mouth poor thing
So looks like we will be missing waterbabies again tomorrow what a bloody waste of money - that will be 3 so far out of 10 and not cheap they are
Had 8 month check today what a waste of time TBH but she now weighs 22 pounds well on the 98th centile....I keep meaning to stop BF but am still enjoying our bedtime and early morning feeds, she has a bottle in day and 3 good meals so no reason to stop I guess .....
I have just put her to bed at 5pm she was so tired she was getting hysterical not sure what that means for our night tonight

suey2 · 03/09/2008 18:16

poor lily! how long will she take to get better, macdoo?

cazzybabs · 03/09/2008 19:35

well evie slept through the night again - HORAH. Work is OK, although could potentially have some interesting boys and I hate my small crap classrooom.
Mac - oh no, Hope Lilly is better soon. It is a bugger about the swimming!

I intened to bf till she she is 2 - although after a year I want to stop expressing and cut down to a feed in the morning and at night.

insywinsyspider · 03/09/2008 20:02

poor dd macdoodle how long have you been told it'll take to clear? thats a real shame about swimming, I hate it when we can't make classes we've paid for

has everyone had the 8/9 mo check? toby is 8.5 mo and I haven't even had a letter yet - I'm sure they did ds1's at 8 months

went to docs bout lack of periods today, he was lovely am officaly not 'normal' (apparently you should start cycle within about 8 wks after stopping bfeeding) and having some blood tests done
