ds2's in 18kg - 33kg nappies and they fit OK, but not much room - it's that tummy again!!! (although when he had his horrible bug his tummy went all small and lost a crease or two, and his nappies fitted perfectly!!)

dot have you tried any pumpkin patch clothes. I don't think there is a shop near you though but they tend to be a bit roomier (chubby NZ babies) and all the trousers have adjustable waistbands so you can loosen just the tummy. The other thing would be clothes made for 'real nappies' as they tend to be roomier around the bottom don't they.
Isn't it amazing how much variety there is between them all.

sounds good - I haven't heard of them but will do a website trawl! Of course I meant 18 - 33 lbs nappies - he isn't that big!!! Plonked him on the kitchen scales last night, so not wholly accurate, but he weighed in at 29lbs... And I stood him up against ds1's height chart and he's about 82cms - not sure if that's particularly tall?

He's getting into a real phase of copying people now - simple actions and sounds - sooooo sweet!!

That IS big I think or is my ds really small? I don't know what weight he is but he's only 74cm tall. He doesn't feel very heavy - is there anywhere that still does old fashioned scales in the shop to use eg boots or woolies?

Well after ds coming down with severe v&d on sunday, monday night I came down with it too. The worst seems to have passed, on the upside I think I've met my WW goal weight! Need to get there superquick now... I'm in awe this is the first time in my life I've weighed this little, I bet it doesn't last!

I have NO idea what to get ds, I've totally given up. I seem to be having brain freeze atm.

Have no idea what ds weighs, I'd imagine 25lb-ish but he's lost a lot since have v&d. He's still happily in 6 - 12 or 9 - 12 clothing though, no idea how as he's on max weight and he's tall - maybe 80cm now?? But still he occassionally has a pot belly hanging over but still fits very well.

Managed to get him onto three bottles a day, has gone off his finger food lunch though, and isn't overly impressed with breakfast. He's having 18oz a day though so I'm worried about cutting down his milk as he's already on minimum.

He's refusing to nap today too! He had an hour this morning, and ever since I've put him in bed a few times and he's just grizzled...

congrats on your ww goal lunavix - I'm struggling with my clothes at the moment, just can't seem to get any weight off at all. I now weigh what I did at about 5mths pregnant...and feel like I look like that too.
Are anybody's lo sleeping a lot at the mo or is it just dd...she is having about 4hrs of naps during the day at nursery and then sleeps for almost 12 hrs straight at night (with a v small interruption over the last couple of days). I'm wondering whether she might be anaemic or something.

Chuffed - I wouldn't feel too bad, the last 5lb took v&d to come off, I expect I'll put them back on straight away!

lunavix that's brilliant - congratulations!!!! Wish I had the self control to lose some weight - I just can't seem to stick at being sensible...

Am a bit concerned about the baby bit of our nursery at the moment, but I'm not sure if I'm being over-sensitive - like this morning I handed ds2 over to the room leader who's got a cold and had her (used!) tissue in her hand. Ds2's nose started to run and as I was looking round for some tissues, she used her tissue to wipe his nose!! Now of course this is the sort of thing I do all the time at home, but I was a bit mortified that she did it!! Am I being silly?? I think I'm still adjusting to saying goodbye to him 2 days a week - particularly as this morning he started crying - must have realised what was going to happen... And last week when I went to pick him up he'd got a dirty nappy and I didn't know how long he'd been sat there.

Sigh. It's very tricky doing this parenting thing isn't it..?

I don't know what the right thing to do is either dot
don't think I would be able to keep my mouth shut though. I would certainly (in the nicest possible way) make it known that I had noticed.
I find that dd's nursery are often over sensitive to things I say now. I feel bad about this sometimes.

Dot I'd mention it to one of the supervisors and make it as though you noticed it with a child when you dropped yours off not necessarily your ds, and that it may have been a one off but you thought it was worth mentioning...that's what I'd do anyway.
dd has finally stopped sobbing when I drop her off (well the last 2 days). It is heartbreaking. I've found dd with a dirty nappy before but it does happen rarely and so have to give them the benefit of the doubt on that one. It is so hard isn't it.

flipping heck - it's doomed! Nursery have just phoned dp to say ds2's got a temperature - about 100... He was fine yesterday! Mind you, his brother has been a bit off colour so it's probably a bug. So they're going to Calpol him and try him on some lunch. If he's still not well one of us is going to rescue him...

dot1 - a bumpy start to ds2's nursery life from what you say.

it can only get better

and at least if he's ill that might explain why he cried when you left him.

Report
dot1 · 03/03/2005 22:18

the fun continues - about half an hour after dp had to go and pick ds2 up, ds1's nursery building (next door to ds2's!) phoned to say he had a temperature... Never had them both ill at the same time...

Anyway, ds1 looks like he's recovered so will be packed off to nursery tomorrow, but ds2's really quite poorly - keeps going v. hot and floppy, so I'll be off work (AGAIN..) tomorrow. oops...

Finding it weird having to cope with guilt about having to take time off work, and worrying whether my work think I'm a real slacker..!

Haven't posted for over a week (been in Disneyland Paris - boy was it cold, minus 5 degrees during the day and colder at night). Had really lovely time, but poor ds developed bilateral ear infections so we weren't allowed to take our flight back, and had to do our return journey by Eurostar instead. Still insurance should cover it.

Have skimmed read all posts over past week and I see that lots of little ones have been feeling under the weather. Still - its March now, we are on the home straight. Come the Spring and summer months they seem to suffer a lot less from nasty bugs. Hold that thought!

Fennel, noticed your question from Tuesday. In truth haven't given it much further reflection as yet. Have realised that I am a bit all over the place at the moment and have just been prescribed anti-depressants, so when those kick in and I can rationalise more clearly I'll be better able to plan what's best for both kids.

HMC - well you did predict some sort of sickness didn't you. Hope that the AD help you out.
Dot - don't feel bad even though you just can't help it can you.
Dropped dd off at nursery this morning and they have had some electrical fault in her room so they have all the 11-2.5yrs together with all the teachers in one room where they would normally be split into 3. Should be an interesting report this afternoon as no cot for dd to sleep in, she'll have to settle on a beanbag today.

I hope the nursery girls have got some valium to help them through the day!
Its lovely and snowy here today - ds has perfected saying woof - but he is now pointing at the snow saying woof!
He is also making new noises every day - his favourite is sucking in and out as if he has a straw in his mouth. He does it all day long and sometimes he can do it through is nose too - mainly if he has a snotty nose - it's a lovely sight!

Chuffed · 04/03/2005 10:29

ohh sounds like he'll be able to blow his nose in no time.

Afternoon everyone. Chuffed - hope dd gest some sleep. Bet the nursery staff will be stressed out. We got a call from nursery to collect ds as he has conjunctivitis (again) so dh has taken him to the doctors to get some of those lovely drops that are a nightmare to put in!!

dot - even if work thinks you are a real slacker what else can you do? at least for you it'll only be maximum 2 days a week with both of you working (how is dp's new job going btw, assuming she's not been too ill to go?)

am eating my dinner alone in front of the computer as can't face the company of my children for one more minute today - one is teething (yes, again...), one snotty-coldy and one just moody. lucky dp is down there refereeing.

dd3 appears to be rejecting the breast in favour of solid food and also in favour of visiting babies' bottles! how ungrateful can they get- I bust a gut to bf endlessly without enjoying it and she appears to have decided to quit! doesn't she appreciate my sacrifices ? I bet she'll be the sort of teenager who turns round and tells me she didn't ask to be born.... would happily give up the bf at this stage but was hanging on til after the easter holiday - and now I'm worried that if I miss this natural opportunity to stop when she seems to be self-weaning, I'll end up bf an obsessive toddler!

Hi everyone. What's everyone up to for Mother's Day? No plans here as yet but suspect dh has something up his sleeve. still haven't got used to the idea that i'm someone's mum almost a year on!! Don't think it will really sink in until I'm actually called 'mum' by ds iyswim

no mothers' day stuff going on here - except dp and I getting flowers for our mothers and visiting them! We both kind of think that until our ds's are able to understand what it is and do nice things like give us a lie in (hurrah!) we won't bother! Also, it's like dp says, there's 2 of us in this house so it's not like there's just 1 to make a fuss of...!

Report
LucyJones · 06/03/2005 09:50

Nothing going on here except we're off to Bluewater and toys R us - yeh!!

we went for lunch yesterday to avoid the crowds today - ds behaved beautifully. V proud of him.
Playing russian roulette with naps today - ds really needs to sleep in the next hour but the Sky man is coming to fix box and would wake ds up on couch. Really wanted to go to mcare and matalan and let ds sleep on the way home - but they don't open till 11am - bugger!
