oh I wish we'd had snow in London - it just didn't stick.
dot is ds2 tall enough for the 2-3yr old clothes, dd is tallish and even 1 yr old stuff is a bit long still.(maybe she has short legs..)
dh dropped dd at nursery today and finally got to experience the heartbreaking moment of saying goodbye where she is in the teachers arms with tears running down her cheeks waving goodbye to you.

Oh Lunavix - I'm sorry to hear about your poorly baby. It's awful when they're ill isn't it?

While DD has been asleep this morning I've fitted 3 stairgates - top & bottom of the stairs & one to stop her getting into the bathroom (ours is downstairs) & the utility where the dog food is (she loves to eat it!!).

She is not going to be happy when she wakes up & sees I've stopped all her fun!!

ooops, sorry, pressed post maessage twice!

Fennel · 28/02/2005 12:26

it's snowing like mad here but not settling either - would love to have thick snow all around.

dd3 is getting into everything but can't get up a step yet (weedy legs still despite being a good crawler) so we don't need a stairgate for her yet.

had a restless night and tooth no 8 is through this morning. but we are quite tired.

Chuffed · 28/02/2005 13:25

Has everybody started planning birthdays / presents for the little ones yet. I bought two jigsaw puzzles on Saturday for dd and a couple of little books which we can travel to Turkey with.

Sorry for all the poorly children...isn't it awful. 8 teeth fennel, dd is 2nd eldest and only has 4.

lunavix · 28/02/2005 14:29

I was going to plan a little party for him, but we've been so tied up in weddin plans I haven't got round to it

We need that babies birthday meetup then I won't need to

Ds still ill, had some rather explosive diorrhea today, and he cries every time And I had to change back to disposables as I was sick of scrubbing poo out of my lovely totsbots!

Haven't bought him any presents, which is different to christmas when I started buying them in July sales! Thinking about maybe some happyland (we have some little people but its for older kids and also second hand...) puzzles, maybe some books? No idea really. Was going to get him a ballpond but we got him one a few weeks ago as it was 5.99 in woolworths

Chuffed · 28/02/2005 14:33

We are going to get some lego as well. Was thinking the duplo even though it says 2yrs figure she can grow into it.
That'll be it then. We are in Turkey so won't be having a party or anything.
Might take a 1 birthday candle and put it on a cake or something to get some photos.

Fennel · 28/02/2005 15:17

chuffed - dd2 only got her first tooth at about 10 months. it was far preferable from the breastfeeding perspective.

dd3 won't be getting anything much for her birthday as we really do have too many toys already. I will do her a party though cos we like parties.

I did have a bit of a nostalgic moment when shopping last week, realising I'm getting to the end of my opportunities to buy cute baby girl clothes, so she does have a few new summer clothes now.

LucyJones · 28/02/2005 15:19

We're having an adult party here - ds will be the only baby. I thought that as he won't really know what's going on it could more more of a 'thank God we survived the 1st year' for us!! I've asked my mjm to get him his own telephone as he keeps lunging for ours when I'm trying to talk!!

Chuffed · 28/02/2005 15:46

Have you ladies got any thoughts on small toy that I've posted a request for on the 'products' section. I need something small but interactive for our trip to turkey just so she has something else apart from a couple of small books.

Fennel · 28/02/2005 16:10

chuffed. thinking back to taking dd1 to australia at this age - a stacking set of cups is an excellent toy - they can stack them, put all sorts of things in them, and use them for water, bath and beach play while on holiday.
and it's very light.

a small rag doll with lots of different fabric bits can be good to keep them amused for a few moments too.

Fennel · 28/02/2005 16:12

ok just looked at your other thread and you mean interactive in electronic terms? I don't know about that. sorry

Chuffed · 28/02/2005 16:19

not necessarily electronic, she will play with a normal mobile or remote for a while but will play for longer if she gets some feedback from them such as channels actually changing she doesn't like the remote we have allocated her that doesn't actually do anything.

Karen2305 · 28/02/2005 21:46

When DD1 was little we bought her a toy phone (by vtech). It was quite small and had different shaped buttons & made noises/songs etc. I think they still make something similar.

We're hoping to buy as little as possible for ds2! He already has tons of stuff and is allowed to play with most of ds1's stuff - except his beloved trains..! But we're having a 'grown up' party - grandparents - mainly for ds1 to be honest (any excuse!).

Ds1's very tall for his age - not sure how tall - must measure him! We have to roll up trousers a bit - normally one roll up, if you see what I mean! The other day we were at my Mum's and ds2 did a horrible nappy which meant we had to change his trousers, but we only had a spare set of clothes for ds1 (what are we like - we never have everything we need..!) and they fitted really well..!!

ooh - I think ds2's saying his first word (kind of - dp thinks I'm making a bit much of it!). Our baby word for food is "num num" - a word left over from when ds1 was a baby. Anyway, when it's meal time I say it and ds2 goes bonkers and starts repeating it while crawling after me!! It's soooooo sweet - and typical that a word for food is his first one..!!

Fennel · 01/03/2005 09:25

dot1 - lol at ds2's first word being for food!

did you mean ds2 is tall for his age? can't believe he fits 2-3 year old clothes. my nearly 5 year old still wears many of her 2-3 year old clothes, so does my 3yo. dd3 still fits 6-12 month clothes.

Fennel · 01/03/2005 09:29

HMC have you decided anything about giving up work?

on that other thread you talked about nursery not being right for ds. have you thought about some other childcare for him like a childminder or nanny-share, if he's a home-loving one-carer type?

TracyK · 01/03/2005 10:13

ds is still in 9-12 month stuff if generous and sometimes 12-18 months and turn them up.

Chuffed · 01/03/2005 11:20

wow your ds must be tall dot. dd still comfortably in most of her 9-12mth clothes. She is quite tall and is about 20pounds (9.1kg)

MrsDoolittle · 01/03/2005 11:40

I sit in Fennels camp I am afraid. Have absolutely no idea how much dd weighs - looks fine to me. The horrible hv put me off ever going near baby clinic again, so I decided she can sod off and I shall only telephone the one I like if I need too [wicked emoticon]
I seem to remember Kristina saying her baby was bald, well dd has been pretty sparse too. It has been notice that she is getting more but it's pretty wispy. I always wanted a bald baby, I think she looks younger.

Who said about the relephone present? I was thinking that about the remote controls. Dd loves them and squeals with glee with she manages to grab them. Dh used to give them to her but has since stopped because she also thought it was funny to fling them on the floor. Now they rattle!

Chuffed · 01/03/2005 11:49

It was me MrsD. I like the look of the v-tech one that YG put on my products link. It hopefully will be a good toy for travelling with as not too big but lots of feedback for dd.

Chuffed · 01/03/2005 11:52

no visit to the HV here, they had to weigh dd at the hospital on Saturday night.
I've been buying 4+ nappies which are from 10kg to ??? they seem to fit fine but she is lighter than they say...oh well.

dot1 · 01/03/2005 13:59

Fennel - yes, I did mean ds2. I think it's probably because his tummy and bottom are so big - they tend to take up a lot of the trousers!! Whereas ds1 is really skinny so can still fit 2 year old clothes, we really struggle to get trousers in particular that are comfy/roomy for ds2 - everything seems to really cut in and make marks on him - dungarees are probably the best option! Will measure him tonight!!
