Hi - anyone fancy making up a thread for babies born this month? My dd (child no 4 ) was born on 6th Jan - I have had a rough time so far with feeding (cracked nipples etc) but things have started to improve now (I think). if only I could get her to sleep at night....

I'm going back in November I think! just going part time! I really wish I didn't have to at all but nevermind, it'll be nice socially I do miss all the gossip at work Ha ha

dizzymama · 29/06/2005 21:02

Yep, that's about the only reason I'm returning at all and to have a conversation that doesn't include the words 'nap nap', 'bum bum' or 'tickly-wickly'!! All of the above said in a daftly high voice of course!!

angie0201 · 30/06/2005 09:41

yeah i think the reason i have decided to go back part time in the end is due to a conversation which doesn't involve baby talk i to am going back in november although keep changing my mind

kazoo · 30/06/2005 13:56

I'm going back to work next week and every time I think about it I feel like I'm going to cry. I had this after ds was born and going back to work was fine in the end but I just don't want to go yet. My work won't let me go part time until september so I have to go back full time. Dd will be fine but ds(18 mths)says daddy at work at least 50 times a day feel terrible that he will be saying the same about me next week.

luvlymum · 30/06/2005 14:37

You poor thing kazoo! I can't even think about going back to work part time never mind full time, its only 3 months till September though when you can cut your hours!

spidermama · 30/06/2005 18:55

I'm not going back to work for a while if ever, but I do miss it.
Has anyone else got their baby in bed with them still? My dh has put up cot and means business. Wants ds out of marital bed. But he's still waking for feed 4/5 times a night. is that normal?

dizzymama · 30/06/2005 21:13

Spidermama, DD is in her cot but in our bedroom still. She doesn't really wake to be fed at night (we've been extremely fortunate there) but is bottle fed so this is probably different. Kazoo, feel for you going back to work. Will be thinking of you chuck. x

angie0201 · 02/07/2005 09:20

kazoo good luck with going back to work let us know how it goes sure you will both be fine

Magscat · 02/07/2005 19:23

Fairi - just read your post about your little one being very vocal. My dd is too. Nursery always comment. It's as if she really wants to talk but can't make the words so it's just a wierd sound that comes out & very loudly. She's not upset when she does it, just like she really wants to communicate.

She was born New Year's Eve so I'm on the December thread but thought I'd have a look here too (& Kama mentioned it - I know from other threads her little girl is only a couple of days younger than mine). Hi Kama !

angie0201 · 03/07/2005 20:28

Really glad to here other children are vocal my dd is becoming more and more vocal everyday to be honest it can be quite ear piercing! but she seems to think it is quite exciting!

dizzymama · 04/07/2005 22:21

Nosey question here (but with useful undertones!). What time do your babies go to bed? E has been going at 8 or 8:30 but has recently got really tearful from 7 onwards. I'm thinking she is over tired and should probably put her to bed earlier.... just shudder to think about what time she would then get up!

angie0201 · 05/07/2005 09:34

hi i used to be scared of that too but like you dd used to get tearful early she was around 6 so she had a bath then which gave us a bit more time to have a story and such like then she went to bed at 6:30 7 if its any later then that she finds it hard sleeping because she gets over tired. she does seem to wake at 5 but has a little kick and goes back off to 7. what time does your child wake up now?

luvlymum · 05/07/2005 13:56

we always put my dd to bed at 7 pm, she sleeps til between 6 and 7 am, she has done this since about 10 weeks old, I think we're just really lucky with her!

dizzymama · 05/07/2005 19:35

She wakes up between six and seven at the moment (which isn't too bad I know )Am trying to put her down at seven thirty tonight then will try a bit earlier tomorrow, will let you know if it works!

angie0201 · 05/07/2005 21:09

good luck i'm sure she will be fine

angie0201 · 06/07/2005 09:14

just thought i'd ask in hear as well worried about dd at the mo she only eats 2 tablespoons of food just wondering if this is enough? how much are you giving ur children at the mo?

dizzymama · 06/07/2005 09:33

Angie, I measure it in cubes (but reckon about 2 tbsp in each cube roughly) for breakfast she has 1 cube mixed in with baby rice(about 1 tsp), dinner is 2 cubes and tea is one cube. But she is a big big baby. I really wouldn't worry hon she would be fine onmilk alone till six months and it's all about getting a taste for food at this stage (unless you have a real chunky monkey like E!)
BTW She went to sleep at 7:30 and was up at 6:15- seemed happier during the day though.

angie0201 · 06/07/2005 16:06

oh thats really good dd seemed happier too when she went to bed earlier, thanks for the advice will try to stop being such a worrier!

angie0201 · 10/07/2005 18:41

so how are all your babies doing? mine is nearly sitting on her own now and is a right entertainer. what a lovely age! i'm loving it

fairi · 10/07/2005 20:12

I only started my ds2 on solids yesterday. (we tried earlier and he just wasn't ready - woke more in the night and was very unhappy). We just went the fruit route which seems to be working wonderfully - banana and paw paw so far - just one mashed fruit at a time.
He seems so happy in himself now - we also finally have him on a formula which agrees with him so I think that is a big part.
He is loving the bumbo chair and is sitting really well in it. It is such a cute and cuddly age.

Magscat · 11/07/2005 13:35

Lily is sitting up on her own quite happily (but she was New Year's Eve so must be the oldest on this thread) and she's just learnt to roll over this weekend. Keeps getting herself stuck in the bars of her cot now! Looks like she'll be crawling soon.

No sign of teeth yet - anyone else?

Sleep-wise she's still pretty hopeless - we had a few 10.30 to 6am nights then she got a cold & this heat started so she's been waking at least once or twice a night. Hoping it won't be for long!

Pollyanna · 11/07/2005 14:32

We've just started Phoebe on solids too - she seems to love them, and I have definitely noticed a reduction in the number of feeds (I was feeding every hour at times). I haven't noticed a massive improvement in her sleep though - I think she must be waking up through habit, as she wakes up every 4 hours like clockwork. This wouldn't really bother me, except for weeks she was sleeping for 12 hours solid.

She still isn't rolling over, nor is she any way near sitting up!

FionaJT · 11/07/2005 19:25

I'm not getting much more sleep since starting Josie on solids - but she does seem to sleep better in the heat, just crashes right out. She's devloped excema though, which is a nightmare in hot weather, especially as she has discovered how to roll over and over so all attempts to keep her on a nice cotton sheet and off the scratchy carpet fail miserably! She's sitting up really well too but is also an early January baby(5th).

dizzymama · 11/07/2005 21:27

Ellie has been on solids for about a month now and is on breakfast and dinner but doesn't always eat the lot (especially now in the warm weather!) mindyou, she's such a chunky little monkey that I think she could happily survive off her body fat for a good while!
She can sit up in a kind of 'doubled over' way which obviously isn't comfortable but I keep trying her for a few seconds!
Her excema is much better and is surviving the heat quite well. She still shows no signs of rolling over, she goes from side to side a lot though.
She is totally loveable at the moment and I agree with everyone who says this is an adorable age. She giggles at anything and beams as soon as she sees me . Glad to hear everyone else is getting along well. x

Pollyanna · 12/07/2005 22:38

I think most of us have girls on here??

Phoebe eats about 4 cubes of food at each meal (after a week she is on 3 meals a day)- she is really keen (and is already a pretty chubby baby) - she was definitely ready for solids, and is now sleeping longer in the night (still waking though).

I tried sitting her up today - she can balance leaning all the way forward too, and seemed to really enjoy it. I think because she is number 4 I don't get the chance to do anything with her - it is just easier to sit her in her chair, or lie her on the floor while I get on with things (more guilt there then).

Any teeth yet anyone? I think P might be getting some, but no real signs yet.
