Hi - anyone fancy making up a thread for babies born this month? My dd (child no 4 ) was born on 6th Jan - I have had a rough time so far with feeding (cracked nipples etc) but things have started to improve now (I think). if only I could get her to sleep at night....

Hi all - new to mumsnet and just spotted this thread. Have DS born jan 05. he's grown up so fast! feel the call of nature to have another but need to find new house - no room - and just getting back in to work !! oh if only i had the perfect life !!!!!

Janbo25 · 04/09/2006 22:16

hi jules, I've been on mumsnet a while now but like you not seen this thread my son was also born in Jan 05 he is very tall now and becoming more and more like a little boy instead of a baby, infact he starts in the next room at nursery tomorrow instead of the baby room.

LynnC · 05/09/2006 10:51

Hi janbo25 and julesnyc.

Have to agree angelcake and think they are adorable at this age although I think I have said this at every age. And laughing at your DB chasing the girls already sounds very cute. Have to admit at looking at small babies and missing that stage now with DD but like julesnyc I would have to consider moving house or winning the lotto first. If I didnt have to work I would definately think of it.

Awe suss can imagine how you felt hearing DB say mummy for the first time. I was overcome too as I was mum for a long time but mummy feels more special. Heres hoping next year will bring more luck for you and you will hear it all again with another precious baby.

Janbo25 · 06/09/2006 11:14

what words are you darling 19 months old saying then now?

julesnyc · 06/09/2006 12:14

My DS is saying home , more , gone , moon , peach ,star and a few more !!!From when he was a baby i put posters of animals , fruit , birds , trees , colours , shapes , toys , numbers ect all over his bedroom walls and alongside his changing table. If i ask him to point to an object ie car, boat , colour ect he does !!!! He amazes me because he gets it right everytime! This has helped his language to no end.Though being a nursery teacher many years ago i knew that all this sort of stuff would help. Books are fantastic tools as well. (bit obvious that one).I'm not meaning to sound big headed here.Just thought i would share this As he is a bright little spark !

Janbo25 · 06/09/2006 13:39

i am really please with my little one because he can now point to his body parts, eyes, nose, mouth, belly etc which I didn't expect him to do at a early age

angie0201 · 08/09/2006 14:40

hello haven't been on this thread in months my dd is just 20 months and has only really started walking was v late!! was wishing it to happen now am wishing her to stop!! no its lovely really. hope all of your are getting on well good health to you all

Janbo25 · 09/09/2006 12:27

you have your hands full then now angie don't you, although i suppose you've been lucky having not had her walking for a while! lol she'll certainly keep you on your toes now

angie0201 · 10/09/2006 14:12

yeah don't i know it!! just been to the park and it was lovely she is running after the ball shouting kick kick, i think when they are walking you can't pretend anymore that they are babys(course she will always be my baby) but it seems now so long since she was past to me as a little bundle and shouting its a girl!! i didn't think it would make such a diffrence her walking anyone else find that?

Janbo25 · 10/09/2006 21:21

I didn't think it would make much difference either, although it is much more fun I think, I like taking my ds to the indoor play centres and he can now just run off and have a whale of a time. Can I just ask you all how tall in cm's are your little ones I have a feeling going of the red book that my son is a giant!lol

LynnC · 19/09/2006 14:51

havent measured dd in long time, I will try to remember to do it tonight just out of interest, if I can get her to sit still for long enough . How tall is your DB Janbo25?

LynnC · 20/09/2006 09:12

Hi, measured dd and give or take a cm either way for her moving about she is 87cm. No idea how that measures in red book, got distracted with something else and forgot to look it out.

suss · 21/09/2006 13:28

hey lynn your dd is quite tall then! DS is about 86cm which is above the 75th percentile for boys. Apparently at about two years you can work out how tall they will be be. The percentile they are on at two is generally the percentile they will be when they grow up.

LynnC · 26/09/2006 09:47

Oh does that seem tall then? Will definately need to look out red book and see where she is on that. Everyone has always commented that she is tall but not having anyone to compare to I've never really noticed myself and thats her just getting into 18-24m skirts/trousers but still in 12-18m tops. Saying that all the sizes differ from shop to shop.

Just got notice to go next week for dd pneumococal injection. Dreading taking her but think its wonderful it is available to us.

Hi kama, glad to here Serena is doing so well and keeping you on your toes. She did great with her injection, my dd screamed but only for a couple of seconds then she cuddled the doctor when we left and told her "give us a phone" her new saying

Wow your doing great still breastfeeding. DD wakes in the night too but only to come in with me for cuddles which unfortunately is a routine I cant seem to get out of.

Not got her in nursery yet, something Ive been thinking of looking into but never quite got round to it.

DD is doing fantastic with her colours and everything we do or look at, she tells me which colour it is. She is good with pink, blue, green, purple, black and white and learning orange and yellow but sometimes mixes them up. I just love this age and she surprises me all the time.

No plans for her birthday yet either but will probably be a family day at the house.

Hope all your LO are keeping well and good to hear how they are all getting on.

LynnC · 30/11/2006 14:00

hi meant to ask how you are all getting on with naps? Are your LO still having them?

DD currently having roughly an hour in afternoon but it she is fighting sleeping at night more and more and wondering whether to cut her nap completely, only thing is on the rare occassion when she doesnt sleep she is a right little madam and very crabbit?

suss · 20/12/2006 21:56

hi Lynn! DB is down to about an hour a day but has survived on 20 mins if neccessary, but its not good! He does get v tearful at bathtime if he hasn't had a nap, esp if he doesn't sleep well. Have resorted to bribery regarding sleeping at night - seems to be working - see 10 month thread. DB talking like a pro now - can't keep him quiet, started at 12 months and is now talking in sentences, with mind blowing comments!! He knows his age, and my name, which he shouts if he gets no response from Mummy!, Daddy goes to work to make ready money, which is my fave as I have visions of my DH with a prin press forgeing £20! Its good to know your DD knows her colours too. It was one of the first things DB learnt. I hope you are all well Jan 2005 babies and you are looking forward to your second Xmases and Birthdays. DB so excited abouy Xmas I think he wants to marry the tree, well he does kiss and hug it! What are you all doing for Xmas and New Year, birthdays etc?

angelcake99 · 31/12/2006 16:47

Just wanted to say Happy Birthday to all of the Jan babies!

xxx

LynnC · 04/01/2007 14:14

Hi everyone, hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year.

We are now considering an extension for all the new toys...seriously!!r And birthday is coming too, I dont know where I will put everything. I think a big clear out of old stuff is needed sooner rather than later.

What plans do you all have for the birthdays? I have no ideas what to get DD at all. And still deciding on the cake too - is it fifi or eeyore or tubbies or fairy oh decisions decisions.

Hope all your LO have lovely second birthdays.

tommysmama · 15/01/2007 21:53

Hi

I've been wondering where the threads like these are! finally found it!

Been looking for people with children my DS age to talk to as none of my friends have children, except one but her DS is just a few months old.

anyway - i have a few questions that i wondered if anyone can help with!

when i put DS to bed he stands at the safety gate (its on his doorframe) and screams and cries wanting me to get in his bed. When i get in his bed he falls asleep eventually but i cant leave until he is asleep or he screams. Should i just leave him screaming? when i have done this he falls asleep on the floor at the gate.. any advice?

also, what kind of food are you all giving? my DS is mad for fruit, but not too keen on anything else! what should i do when i make him a meal and he doesnt eat any? i dont want to always give in and give him fruit but i dont want him to go hungry..

Thanks for any advice, all appreciated!

suss · 18/01/2007 22:19

Happy New Year DB having his 2nd Birthday Party on Saturday i am so excited! He has asked for an apple cake which is now baking in the oven! How are all your little ones doing or not so little now! Sleep problems ha ha. I am the mean mother i leave My DB to Scream as well, He is not the world's best sleeper, but we are using a little bribery - see my earlier message, but other than that I have no other advice except I found a book called Healthy sleep habits, Happy child by Marc Weissbluth invaluable, with many different methods helping children to sleep. Good Luck, just think though they willl soon be in beds so you won't have to climb out of the cot!

BassMama · 05/02/2007 23:03

Hey,
I already have my DS in a bed (he moved into a bed when he was 1.11).. is this too early? does anyone have their DC's still in cots?

LynnC · 06/02/2007 11:55

Hi everyone, hope all the birthdays went well and all had a lovely day. Cant believe they are two already and so independent. DD doing very well with her talking and so polite too, she has already discovered saying please gets what she wants (mostly) and thank you whenever we do anything for her and her favourite "excuse me" gets shouted at top of her voice whenever she speaks and she gets no response

BassMama, if the bed worked for your DS at that age, thats great and if it worked then its not too early. I just changed DD cot to her bed over the weekend although we have been co-sleeping for what seems like forever and she is loving her big girls bed so wishing I had thought of it a long time ago. She still ends up with me at somepoint in the night but at least she is happy and excited to fall asleep in it in the first place now.
