Hi - anyone fancy making up a thread for babies born this month? My dd (child no 4 ) was born on 6th Jan - I have had a rough time so far with feeding (cracked nipples etc) but things have started to improve now (I think). if only I could get her to sleep at night....

My dd has started sticking her tongue out all the time. Her tongue is really long and it looks so funny. She is able to push herself backwards in her babywalker and can almost roll over on the floor by herself. She is so top heavy that she finds it hard to sit up but can support herself o.k. in the walker.

Oh No! Everyone elses babies are moving about! My dd seems quite content to lie down and giggle like a maniac but no real signs of moving yet she does however do this really coy glance sideways and cute giggle combo....she's so lovely

I do a combination of bouncy chair, play mat, swing, bumbo or wedged into corner of sofa (but only if I'm there!)

dizzymama · 12/06/2005 22:37

Kama, I'm sure when she does start moving I'll wish she was back to being stationary!! (or is that stationery???? It is late!!)

kazoo · 13/06/2005 09:26

Dd will only spend a short amount of time on her playmat and her bum has become too big for the bumbo. So she alternates between the door swing and her babywalker. The walker has a tray and she will play quite happily with toys on it. I think she was getting fed up on the floor because she is always trying to push herself up to a standing position when I hold her hands. She likes to be at the same height as ds and watch what he is doing. Will try to get a picture of the tongue out.

angie0201 · 13/06/2005 09:48

hi all
My DD seems completly content at the mo just lying there all starts at diff times i suppose. cant belive that serena loves the wheels on the bus to so does madison and twinkle twinkle little star how funny!!

kazoo · 13/06/2005 13:45

How bizarre! ds's favourite song has always been wheels on the bus even from just a few weeks old. And dd loves twinkle, twinkle it is the only song she will stop crying to listen to.

FionaJT · 13/06/2005 20:26

Hi all, my dd is sick of lying on the floor too - spends most of her time doing very impressive stomach crunches as she tries to sit up. She can roll onto her front easily but isn't very good at rolling back (her arms get in the way!)and gets very frustrated. Although I have seen her get her knees under and sort of slide herself along a bit, and she gets herself stuck in very weird positions in her cot. I've had to stop putting her in the bouncy chair as she can now lean right forward in it and grab her feet and I think the next step will be falling out head first. So today I got her a high chair (started on solids last week and she's far too wriggly to hold and feed at the same time) and she seems very happy in that. I don't think it will be long before she's sitting up properly on her own, which will be a relief for us both!!!

angie0201 · 13/06/2005 20:57

Hi i think the reason DD loves twinkle twinkle is because when i was pregnant whilst i was having a bath and was v relaxed would sing it to her she used to kick more come the end and now she will stop crying when i sing it. Read in a mad about doing it with chineese chime balls but my voice was just as effective!
And as for moving DD was born on the 2nd so quite early in the month and still not rolling over or anything although is very vocal sometime comes out with a sound that sounds like nanan or mamam when frustrated!

angie0201 · 13/06/2005 20:57

sorry mag not mad!

Pollyanna · 13/06/2005 21:23

Angie, just saw your other thread. My dd (born 6th jan) isn't rolling over yet either. She doesn't really do much in fact - she is very fat and placid and just likes blowing bubbles. I wasn't worried until I read the last few posts here! (and then I lay her on the floor and tried to get her to roll over).

My baby is not alone!! Elewyn just lies, stares and makes noises too angie and pollyanna. Her favourite songs are daft ones my dh sings to her whilst 'making' her dance e.g. 500 Miles and Amarillo. Funny man!!!!!

s13 · 14/06/2005 12:56

hi all, my dd can't roll over yet either, or crawl but we keep trying. has anyone got any teeth yet, dd has been dribbling like mad for about two weeks and is constantly chewing her hand; is this the start?

kazoo · 14/06/2005 14:04

No teeth but lots and lots and lots of dribble.

dizzymama · 14/06/2005 18:19

Yep, us too,we're drowning in dribble!!

Chiropody4 · 15/06/2005 19:58

Hi there i am new to mums net, my ds was born on 16th Janurary weighing 9lb 9oz. He has always been a very contented baby, and he loves row, row the boat giggles like mad at the crocodile snapping at the end.
Suddenly life has changed, we are currently experiancing alot of pooy/smelly nappies, and alot of wet t shirts, i think he is teething!!!
Also does anybody else have shreeking coming from their pushchair as they walk down the road, it is soooooo cute, everybody looks, and wonders what the noise is about, and there he is just sat there laughing at them. ah bless him!!!!!

kazoo · 15/06/2005 20:09

Hi chiropody4. My dd has certainly been exercising her vocal chords more and does an excited shrieking noise alot.

kazoo · 15/06/2005 20:15

Anyone willing to share what weight their baby was at 20 wks. Had dd weighed by hv last wk and she is 19lb. Is this scarily big? Have nothing to compare this to as ds was premature and didn't catch up weight wise until 6 months. Or maybe am just paranoid cos ds was prem and dd seems so much bigger in comparison.

dizzymama · 15/06/2005 20:19

Kazoo, dd was about 16lb 11 when 20 weeks if I remember correctly. I'm always paranoid about her being a big baby but, asa ffriend pointed out, I'd rather she was big than having to worry about her putting on weight or losing any if she got ill
Chiropody, know what you mean about the vocal thing! Dd has also turned into a HUGE flirt and spent my last hospital visit eyeing up the male physios and giggling at them in a coy fashion....don't know where she gets it from

angie0201 · 15/06/2005 21:25

Pollyanna DD is exactly the same v content hardly know i have her and is on the large side too! likes blowing bubbles too although seems to have fantastic timing of doing it right in the middle of a mouth full of carrott! DD has been dribbling for about 2 months noe solid! just started to see a little red patch on her gum now, just cant wait for this first one to make the break through they say that one takes the longest.

Pollyanna · 15/06/2005 21:39

dd3 was 15lb 11 at 16 weeks!! I haven't had her weighed since, but she is pretty big!

angie, my dd has buckets of dribble too - and no sign of a tooth yet.

Those of you who've introduced solids - have you noticed an improvement in your baby's sleeping?? (I am clinging onto the hope that the reason dd3 has stopped sleeping is because she is hungry).

angie0201 · 15/06/2005 21:42

Yeah she sleeps great now! mind you always was a good sleeper just started waking early in the morn now is back to sleeping 7-7!

Chiropody4 · 16/06/2005 07:34

My ds had just started to sleep through the night again after 8 weeks of getting up at 3.30 every single night for a milk, now he has decided to teeth and gets up for a poo once or twice a night!!!
