omletts! with veggie or cheese

Prufrock · 04/02/2005 22:17

I gave whole egg from about 6 months - he seems OK.......
No cat, not the green shutters - dh didn't like it. But our friends who also want to move there are going to see it on Sunday. V. and my tastes are so similar I just know we will end up wanting the same place.
Ds doesn't crawl but sort of commando crawls - like he's under a camo net. And (proud mummy moment) he can clap It looks so sweet - dd keeps on telling him to do it and he obeys every time.

Prufrock · 04/02/2005 22:19

Twig theer are loads of threads on finger foods - and suggestions here (OMG I'm turning into coddy ) Try pancakes, fishcakes, homemade chicken nuggets, mashed potato and cheese balls (use lots of butter to help it stick) cheese straws (pastry not those disgusting dairylea things)

Twiglett · 05/02/2005 08:01

I'm just laa.a.a.a.aa.z..y

I know there are prufock-cod, I think I started a couple myself .. I will of course ignore any suggestions and just continue feeding her whatever's in the house too constantly wondering what else I could be giving her

Casmie · 05/02/2005 09:33

[boring domestic detail] digger

egypt · 05/02/2005 10:40

oooooo, extension!

once again wouldnt take her bedtime bottle. screamed for an hour at 10pm but still wouldnt take it. woke at 2 ish took 4 oz. woke at 530, took 4 oz. slept until 830. this is wearing me out. why wont she take her bedtime feed? does anyone else's do this?

hmm, not inventive on the finger foods, but french toast, apricots, breadsticks, wholemeal bread, cheese, sugarsnap peas! cant really eat them but has a good suck!

spots · 05/02/2005 21:01

Oh, so not boring Casmie! does ds1 like diggers? I love the boy-digger relationship. Think I will experiment to see if I can engender similar enthusiasm in DD.

God but she has me up against the wall today, with the eating thing. Blew raspberries at her weetabix this morning, so we cooked pancakes which I thought she was eating till I saw all the bits on the floor. She was putting them in her mouth at least, so not rejecting them completely, but she's just not skilled enough at chewing to get a lot down. And not a lot did. So I gave her a breastfeed and we went to her cousin's 2nd birthday party where we swam (fun!) and she had about two thirds of a banana and another breastfeed (or two, as she became tired and wanted to sleep but couldn't because it was too exciting). By the time we got home she was absolutely knackered and would not eat anything at all. So another couple of b/feeds and then bed. So she really only had the banana today. Every mealtime I try about four or five different foods - bits of what we're having, or fruit, or jars - and she hardly eats anything - and I REALLY REALLY want her to but am trying so hard not to make it into a big deal! But it is! oh dear... I just don't know why she doesn't like food very much. She would eat sweet stuff all day if I let her loose on it; maybe I should just give in to sugar??? (she does get some stuff that's sugary just not much)

oh sorry to rant, but it's the themeof the day.

spots · 05/02/2005 21:08

and Egypt I am so sorry your nights are so shite. I have no wisdom for you on that score, but I do notice how many old ladies on the bus ask me 'is she good at night?' I want to say 'yes, very good, every time she wakes up she is good' but just roll my eyes and say 'not really' and they nod knowingly, looking a tiny bit satisfied. It makes me think how babies have been waking up at nights for as long as there have been human beings, and adults have been trying to think up solutions for equally as long. And what comes out in the wash is, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but it doesn't last for ever and just think, some day YOU will be one of those old ladies and get a bit of satisfaction out of knowing that babies are the same as ever they were! honestly I do find that quite comforting sometimes!

Bozza · 05/02/2005 21:26

Spots I am going to disagree with you - I am almost 100% sure that DS did not crawl until after he could walk - could walk from about 11 months but could not pull himself up so it was all a bit useless. DD is following same pattern and driving me demented - she will not play, she just wants to be stood up all the time. Was trying to have her stood up with the ball blaster holding onto the ball blaster while playing "the M&S fridge game" with DS and wasn't paying enough attention and she nose dived and banged her head.

Gave DD scramble egg months ago.

My nephew was born today . He was 9 lb 10 oz and was born in the superman position so you can all say ouch for my Dsis - but me most of all because DS was the identical weight. Can't wait to go see him tomorrow.

Been round some more car garages this morning with DH [yawn] And thats my news [more yawn]

Spots - one of DD's favourite books is "Dig Dig Digging" by Margaret Mayo. It comes as a board book so can be chewed . You can get a good rhythm up on each page(diggers are good at dig dig digging, chopping up the earth and lifting and tipping).
Bozza - we have got very similar babies. And identical ball blasters (presumably). Sometimes DS is standing up though and I notice that my arm is really aching when I'm just vaguely supporting him.......yes, he's standing on one leg in a very blase fashion and I'm experiencing some RSI type symptoms!
DS had baked beans and mash for tea tonight. Went down a treat.

Casmie · 06/02/2005 13:47

Does ds1 like diggers?

AH HA HA HA .... AH HAHAHA.... wipes tears of laughter from eyes and settles down

He's decided he's getting a real one for his birthday.

Am in the doghouse today. Forgot that it was ds1's best friend's birthday party today. Suddenly realised and sent dh and ds1 out an hour into the party... Have got to do so much grovelling in the next week.

spots · 07/02/2005 10:04

What a quiet lot we were yesterday! Bozza, that's great about your nephew... congratulations. When will you meet him?
DD was a bit better on the food yesterday, ate a couple of mouthfuls of jarred lasagne and a baby fruit scone. We did some gardening and pottering around, and very nice it was too. Busy week this week. I have to take her into Ed'burgh tomorrow for the ;aunch of a publication I illustrated. Don't know how baby friendly it'll be. and on wednesdayu she's with the childminder from 10 - 3

she is wriggly ande bored on my lap and says hello (yeh right)

cat82 · 07/02/2005 10:50

sniffle

I have a stinker!! Not nearly as bad as last night though, i had a temperature of 39.2 and couldn't move from bed. I thought i had the flu, but dp woke me this morning at 8.40 with flu/cold relief and i feel much better. I went to bed yesterday at 5.30pm and didn't egt up again until about 9.10pm, it was definatly the best thing for me.

Spots- Glad dd is a little better with eating. It's so frustrating when they don't eat anything isn't it? It drives me round the bend.
Oooooh publication you illistrated? Sounds very impressive! Do tell...
Oh and apparantly i never crawled at all. I went straight from sitting to walking, so i have to disagree with you as well

Casmie- How's the building work going? DS1 still in digger heaven?

Bozza- Congratulations! is he beautiful? I bet you were so excited to see him. Lovely news, but the superman posistion? Your poor sister!

Egypt- How are the nights going hon? I hope they're sorted themselves out now.

Prufrock- No i know your dh didn't like the green shutter house, but i wondered of you'd managed to talk him round Well done ds for learning how to clap! (now come round and teach Kiera )

Okay, boring domestic detail...Dp has almost finished the kitchen floor! it looks really nice, even though it hasn't been grouted yet and you can still see the dark grey tile cement inbetween the creamy coloured tiles. But dp has been working incredibly hard on it, has never tiled anything before and i'm very proud of him
We went to Woodgreen yesterday to watch a dog show that had Luna in it (mummy to be to our puppy) She should be coming into season within the next couple of weeks so overwhelming excitment in the Cat household for the next couple of months

Take care everyone
xxxx

spots · 07/02/2005 13:49

oooh it was my mum not me who said they had to crawl before they could walk! I have no opinion on this of course!

publication is the thing I was working on in november, sort of activity pack thing for special needs awareness in classrooms... don't know what to expect! lots of illustrations done in rather a hurry (they moved the deadline) but have to admit am rather excited as illustration is where I'm trying to go...

Poor old cat anyway, hot toddies I say. Exciting about the dog stuff!

SusiS · 07/02/2005 17:31

ehm, girls! haven't been to the doc yet but seems that i am prg again
thought i let you know ...

Judd · 07/02/2005 17:45

SusiS · 07/02/2005 17:48

Casmie · 07/02/2005 17:55

Susi: congratulations! If you'd only said, I'd have happily given you one of mine

Twiglett · 07/02/2005 18:13

oo Susi .. congratulations

SusiS · 07/02/2005 18:20

lol casmie, which one would it be?

Libb · 07/02/2005 18:39

Congratulations Susi! I am really pleased for you xxx

Cat, I will be in touch soon - I cannot access Hotmail to get your new number but please bear with me xxx

Casmie · 07/02/2005 18:47

Susi: which one would you like? I can do you a good two-for-one deal if you like....

SusiS · 07/02/2005 19:03

well, a few details would be nice of each. so like pros and cons

Casmie · 07/02/2005 19:09

I have to list PROS?!!!!

I'm doomed

Seriously though, congratulations. If you're like me at all you'll be scared as hell and wonder WHAT you were thinking of all through the pregnancy, convinced that you've ruined your first child's life forever. Then second child arrives, you find yourself absolutely besotted and best of all the two children are devoted to each other as well!

Plan on more than double the work, but count on more than double the fun.
