Here's a new thread especially for Kate79.

(she couldn't access the old one).

Hello. Well dd2 is better and now proudly sporting two bottom middle teeth(whichever ones they are), which explains why she was hell all day and night Saturday. You'd think with one already we'd see the signs really.
I'm feeling like s**t. Sore throat, feel sick, headache, achy body. Going to bed in a minute. DH can do the bottles.
I have an incessantly chirpy baby, which is lovely, but she will NOT sleep through the night. Last night I was up with her at 2.30, took her into bed with us just to get her back to sleep, then woke at 4 when dd1 shouted the place down as she was having a nightmare and went in with her for an hour. Moan moan moan.
I'm also in a baby group - we've just started a babysitting circle too - and it's horrible getting all the emails at work about them doing things and not being able to go. Can't think of anything jolly to say so I'll be off. Have a quiet night everyone.

Spots yes it was me that had the hairdressing party. What happens basically is that one of our friends is a mobile hairdresser and there are three of us with two kids each who take it in turns to host the event. So we all get together in one house (take it in turns) and she does three adults and four children's hair (and we ladies all have a colour). My friend's 1yo has less hair than DD so they haven't yet been trimmed! And we have lunch. Its generally quite manic as you can imagine.

Judd glad you are feeling better. Helsy sorry that you are feeling worse. DH has got man flu. Grr. Judd I do the karate chop too but am reasonably skilled at it because DS was just the same. My sister is now 9 days overdue. I tried to ring her last night and got no answer - was all excited but then spoke to my other sister and we agreed that she was just ignoring the phone!

Good morning, good morning

Well for the first time in a week i have put kiera down for a morning nap. Sh went okay until lunch, but she got sooooo damn grumpy when i tried to feed her i'm really hoping it was because she got tired, and this will help.

Helsy- Poor you I hope you get some rest today.

Spots- I know it's ridiculous isn't it?! We can't throw away that kind of money. If we had it we'd be half way to equipping our freezing home with central heating! And no, they don't give you anything for decorating their window unfortunatly, but i do think they should!

Judd- Oh good, sounds like you can paint over the cross on your door warning all to keep away

Prufrock- Glad things are getting better illness wise with you as well. Best of luck with the house! Is it the one with the green shutters?

I am exhausted for some reason, i've had a headache for 2 days and it's really taking it out of me.
BUT I am going to attempt cauliflower cheese for kiera today.....eep.....

Take care all
xxxx

Cat when DS was of the age of just about dropping his morning nap I used to sort of split lunch between before and after his nap because he was just too tired to eat it then. Would give him just enough so that he wasn't hungry enough to wake up at about 11 ish, put him down and give him some more when he woke up.

OP posts:
egypt · 02/02/2005 11:16

all this talk of morning naps. just taken dd for her walk and she has come back wide awake. washing machine is on a spin, but i'm not hopeful. not convinced she needs to drop it though. she slept for 45 mins on monday morning and then 2.5 hours that afternoon!!!

she's taken to waking an hour after going to bed again. 745 last night. then 1130 at which point i thought i'd leave her to settle. she was just about to when dh decided to go and see her! which wound her up no end and i ended up .....wait for it.......sticking her on the boob. she couldnt have got anything , but a few sips but she went through until about 330. then gave her the rest of her bottle from bedtime, woke at 700 gave her her morning feed and put her back....until 845 . why did i bf her?! Confused

oh, crying, walk again....

egypt · 02/02/2005 11:34

asleep.......

have just broken my dyson. pulled it far to harshly when plugged in and ripped the wire out. bugger. neighbours have lent me theirs but it send out odour de le chien into the house. STINKS. sorry any dog owners, but it doesnt half whiff. now have to oust my house.

helsy · 02/02/2005 20:42

Aah, two children in bed! Small one is asleep (PLEASE let it be all night!) and dd1 is reading. She had a really high temp in school and looked green when I picked her up, but one choc ice and a bowl of ice cream (and lots of cuddles) later she's raring to go! Who else was always told that ice cream was a good thing to have when you were ill as a child? She's already written a note to the teacher for tomorrow saying that she's sick and can't come in - she is very bright, though I say so myself. Unfortunately I think she might be "criminal mastermind" bright, rather than "becoming a doctor and making her parents proud" bright.

Cat82 how did the cauliflower cheese go? Did you make it lumpy?

Egypt - I can't stand dog smells (or dogs) myself - cat person.

Boo ate all of her food in nursery today and is no longer snotty or coughing. I feel loads better today thank you.

DH has already arranged to work from home tomorrow - the sod got in before me - just in case dd1 isn't well enough to go to school!

Bozza · 02/02/2005 21:32

I'm working at home fortunately. As if 8.20 until 4.50 isn't enough I'm on call and have had 3 problems to deal with already tonight.

Ooh and DD has got her 3rd tooth through - but like Casmie's DS she seems to be getting a run of top ones. DS claims they had a fire alarm and all went outside nursery without their coats on. This was quite exciting and apparently "the sister" went outside too. The detail about coats tends to suggest some truth in this story.

egypt · 03/02/2005 11:29

working at night bozza?

no more teeth here yet, although some miserable days. dd only woke at 330 last night then 720. think the medised did the trick though.

where is my broadband?! if they dont deliver the modem today and am going to throw this pc through a window. it is pants. now i am online i darent get off again. although each minute is costing us. bb bb bb bb

Bozza · 03/02/2005 11:40

Can't you chase it egypt. Because I was dialing in to work I was on not-broadband last night which was a pain because it blocks the phone line as well obviously. I do about 5 nights a month on call. Usually nothing happens and I get paid the princely sum of £31 before tax for bathing the kids and doing the ironing. But last night was not so... although I get paid on top for the actual work that I do.

OP posts:
egypt · 03/02/2005 11:46

yes have done. so have onetel. according to parcelforce it has been out for delivery since 26/1/05. have emailed them. its a bugger when you can't just phone and TALK to someone!

Bozza · 03/02/2005 11:50

It is.

OP posts:
egypt · 03/02/2005 12:25

IT'S HERE!!!! wow. well 2 of them actually!

Casmie · 03/02/2005 12:44

And another dreadful night. Ds2 is now, of course, perfectly well and cheerful (well apart from the extremely overtired and refusing to have his lunchtime nap bit) because I've finally given up and booked the doctor's appt.

[random domestic detail] skip arrives tomorrow. Help.

Casmie · 03/02/2005 18:30

Glad I went.

Gave my big long spiel about how I was very sorry but I was probably wasting his time, but every night I debated going to the emergency doc and every morning he was better so I felt stupid.

GP gave ds2 a thorough look over and says he has the beginnings of a chest infection. Because we've caught it nice and early should (hopefully!) clear up easily.

His first lot of antibiotics, poor mite.

He's started being clingy and wheezy cough again now it's evening so at least I feel vindicated!

spots · 03/02/2005 19:00

good Casmie, that'll see to it.

Ah! DD is in bed and DH buying shoes. I am supposed to be working in the evenings too but do you know what? I can't face it... quite yet...

DD is being finicky about food again. I can't get her enthusiastic about much more than Hipp fruits , prunes and cheese scones. It's so dull. She does have the odd window where she greets everything with open mouth, but they slam shut at the smallest thing (the window and the mouth).

Are we allowed to give egg whites yet? I have read contradictory reports. am sick of separating the yolks off... life's too short...

kbaby · 03/02/2005 21:03

Hello,

Not much to report here. DD been fine apart from the constant whinging if I even dare to leave the room. Even if I think shes not noticed I pop upstairs to get her towel ready and I can then hear her screaming downstairs. Its a bit tiring carrying her around morning and night while trying to do dinner and get ready for work. Sleep wise- she still wakes. Generally at 11.30 and I give her 3ozs milk and then maybe once or twice during the night but she settles with the dummy.

I think I had a better social live while I was at home and made loads of mum friends. I think thats what I miss about being back in work. They meet up each day and im stuck in work. I do manage to meet up one evening a week but by then all the babies are tired and grouchy.
Casmie hope DS chest gets better soon.

cat82 · 04/02/2005 11:21

Hi everyone

I feel a bit crap today. I went to mum and babies group yesterday and discovered that everyone had each others numbers apart from me. Childish i know but it made me feel very hurt. I won't go into it now, i started a thread!

Kiera is being much better now i've re introduced morning nap. Back to eating whole jars, without throwing tantrums I think when we get her up at 7.30am she needs that nap, but when we get her up at 8.00am she doesn't.

Spots- Blimey i didn't even kow you had to seperate eggs...(not too disasterous given that she won't eat them but still) I thought you just had to make sure they were well cooked.

Casmie- I went onto to msn last night to say i was glad about your doc appointment going okay (well not good being that he has a chest infection but good that you feel better. Oh you know what i mean ) But dp switched the laptop off without realizing i still needed it! I didn't msg you this morning, was going to but you dissapeared before i could

Egypt- Hurrah for broadband!

Kbaby- Work will get better, it's going to be hard at first. Why don't you suggest that one evening you meet without the babies and go for a meal?

Prufrock- How's the house going?

Libb- Hope all's well with you. Haven't heard from you for a while! I would like to txt you but i don't have your number anymore (old phone has had it now and won't turn on)

Is everybodys little ones crawling now? kiera is still nowhere near and i'm a tad concerned. Still she's having her 8 mnth check soon. When she's closer to 9 months but there you go

Take care everyone
xxx

LucyJones · 04/02/2005 11:44

Hope you don't mind me popping in from the April thread but just wanted to let Cat know that ds isn't crawling yet and his birthday is the 1st April!! I think there are a couple of others on our thread that aren't either so don't worry

Casmie · 04/02/2005 12:40

Cat: ds1 didn't crawl until well into 10 months old, don't worry They all have different agendas on when they want to get mobile! Does she like resting on her tummy to play at all? I think those that don't enjoy their tummies much do tend to crawl later than those who do.

That is hurtful re: the babies thing, but I'm sure unintentional. I have your number though, and if you like I'll fill it up with so many SMSes that you're glad none of your baby friends have it if you like

egypt · 04/02/2005 12:52

dd doesnt crawl yet. she was a tummy hater. she is q mobile on her hands and knees, but just rocking and sitting back up again.

i'm sure the number thing was unintentional too cat. mums at our groups tend to have some numbers and so far no one seems to have developed a 'clicky' group, just calling each other as and when. i was q put out on tues when i found that 4 of the bunch had gone for a walk and not invited me, but then myself and 1 of them went for a walk yesterday and myself and another one have met for cuppas a couple of times without others.

dd was strange last night. there was no way in this world she was going to take her bedtime bottle. so i put her down without it. she woke at 12 and still wouldnt take it, despite being upset for about an hour on and off. then she woke at 6am!!!! she drank it then. but went back to sleep until 830. i feel so overly rested for a change. i went to bed at 9 and fell straight asleep so i think i have had too much! niiiiiiiiice.

as for broadband.......grrrrrrrrr, dont even mention it. they can all balls, the lot of them. it doesn chuffing work. we have some sort of fault on the line, either bt's fault or our wiring but bugger. have to wait for the line to be tested now which could take a week and meanwhile have to leave pc on and modem plugged in the whole time....even though we're both away next week.

pissed off

spots, i've given dd eggy bread for a couple of weeks now.. oops

Casmie · 04/02/2005 13:04

According to Annabel Karmel, you can give french toast from 9 months and you don't separate for that...?

Judd · 04/02/2005 15:12

Auntie Gina also says egg white from 9 months. But, hey, 8.5 months v 9 months - what's the difference (yes 2 weeks, I know)? Stop separating eggs, Spots, and squander all that saved time on something reckless !
DD crawled at 8.5 months but DS is nowhere near. He doesn't roll and is going to go from sitting to a crawl positiong -ie. nose diving! However, DD didn't clap until 10 months and DS can do that already. My Alison McKonichie book says that 9 months is average to crawl, so some will naturally be earlier, some later.

spots · 04/02/2005 21:24

oooh... no sign of crawling in DD. When I said about the walking, you did know it was with someone holding her didn't you? Apparently they HAVE to crawl before they can walk, even if only for hlaf an hour or something.

She's not going anywhere eating like she does, anyway. Half a weetavix for breakfast, a few bits of pasta out of my soup and some breadcrunbs, a bit of banana, some hipp fruit, a couple of prunes, a revolting rusk and a load of breastfeeds. It is very annoying. Her poor nappy rash is absolutely awful and I am trying dispsable nappies for a couple of days.

On a more positive note, I was reading to her from the 'Where's Spot?' book that I'm sure evrybody has! and she was being really funny, enjoying the flaps and mimicking my tone of voice when I said 'there he is!'

I am going to watch the Simpsons with DH who is a bit of a lone wolf at the moment. Hope you are all well. xxx

Twiglett · 04/02/2005 21:29

gawd but you lot don't half talk

DD update (if interested)

she now has 4 teeth .. 2 bottom teeth and 2 canines (she looks like Vampira the Bat Lady )

she can crawl at the speed of a bullet to be right under your feet as you turn around

has developed a really hysterically false laugh

also has a slightly maniacal axe murderer smile that she uses on people she doesn't really know (I jest not, 'tis quite alarming)

refuses to be spoon fed as of today so any finger food suggestions gratefully accepted
