Mrs P-no need to test..found out the old fashioned way.
My little monster is insanely large so please keep in mind that my HV has also told me that BF isn't enough, he's got to have food, etc... 16 weeks and we're 16 lbs 4 or 5, but he's also 68cm long. They will try to tell you you're feeding incorrectly no matter what.
I have now started to try yet again to give up BF. We only started yesterday but are down to 2 feeds BF a day. I want it gone by the end of the week so I get a break before I actually TRY to get pg. This week kicked that one into touch. Couldn't stand the thought of going straight into pg from BF the 1st.
BTW..just cos he's a greedy guts, my LO eats a bit of real food too(started this wk)

fitnfortyone · 23/07/2008 19:56

woohoo! LO just rolled over for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd time this evening! He looked very pleased with himself and promptly possetted everywhere due to the effort

My brain really has turned to mush, I can't remember what weight LO was last time he was weighed, but that was about 3 weeks ago
I think he was about 15lb 6?

Hayls - sounds like you're LO is doing fantastically, and eating and sleeping really well. My LO was born 6lbs 2oz and last week at 17 weeks was 12lbs 6oz, he is between the 2nd and 9th centile lines and has bobbed up and down between them. HOWEVER, he feeds terribly (bf) and sleeps terribly (currently up every 2 hours during the night and have been for the last 6 or 7 weeks) so sounds like yours is doing really well, and surely wouldn't sleep so well if he wasn't getting enough food. to the HV..

turtle - phew!

PurlyQueen · 23/07/2008 23:20

Hi all! Matthew was 14lbs at his last weigh-in. He is due another one this week. Looks like he's going to be a tall child, and I can't see him making it to six months without some sort of solid food. I'm going to see how he is at five months.

nik76 · 24/07/2008 08:11

Morning all!!!

rebecca is now 14lbs 11ozs and this morning I ahve to take her for her three lot of jabs

Last night she slept all through AND didn't wake up after being put down hopefully jabs won't upset this now we're back on track!!!

merryberry · 24/07/2008 08:23

hi all, a weigh in? and a at turtle's 'life wish'...

gg is about 72cm and neqarly 18lbs (if i add him to me on my scales!). started on solids at weekend and is voracious. very different to ds1 when starting. would clearly eat more than i feel comfy giving him. has already had apple, pear, banana and rice. nedver, and i mean never, pushes it back out, and flummoxes with joy as spoon approaches him. remarkable to me, who had to coax ds1 for first 6 weeks (but who loved finger food from then on)

having horrible time with ds1's tantrums atm, the weather sends us both into meltdown, and he is refusing all potty training prep. starts in earnest on sunday...can i leave my sanity here please and pop back for it when needed?

turtle23 · 24/07/2008 08:38

Merry...do you mind if we collectively use it while you're gone? Could use a bit more!

spugs · 24/07/2008 10:48

i go away for a few days and look what happens
turtle i was wondering from your status on face book small age gaps are good, my friend has 16 mths between 1 & 2 and 18mths between 2 & 3 she has never had a period since she fell with no 1 as shes got pregnant just as she stopped breast feeding!!!! its hard work but the kids get on great.

izzy was 14lb 3 when i had her weighed last week, shes really chubby. shes rolling over all the time now but cant get back over hence a lot of squeaking

noolia · 24/07/2008 11:16

Hi all, I've been lurking but haven't posted for ages, name changed too.

Mrs P - my dd spends 6 hours a day feeding! She takes it very leisurely and has to have lots of little breaks during each hour long feed.

No idea how much she weighs because the HV was 'too busy' to do baby clinic yesterday!

Had a fright today because I had a really puffy and tender armpit and felt a little lump and then just before doctors appt dd fell off our bed. It was awful - slow motion fall through the air. Dr checked her and she's fine. I've got an inflamed gland, poss due to bf. Dr said she isn't worried but I've got another appt next week.

Has anyone elses LO got ezcema?

Well it's so nice to see the sun and feel warm - bare bottoms in the garden I say.

MrsPhas3 · 24/07/2008 19:17

ds has nearly had his first taste of solids!! Have spent a few days trying to extract a particularly large crusty bogey from his left nostril to no avail. He had some tummy time (which he is finally starting to enjoy for up to 5 minutes at a time) and he snorted it out. I rolled him over, he managed to (in the shortest of nanoseconds) brush it from his upper lip into his mouth. Took a fair bit of fishing to get it out. I wonder how significant that first taste of solids is to setting up your preferences!!

Sorry to hear about the fall noolia, at least you were off to doctors anyway so the decision to get her checked or not was already made. Armpit lump sounds painful - have you been given any antibiotics or does the dr expect it will just go with time?

6 hours of feeding sounds a lot - I know I'm lucky with mine, and was just generally being nosey to see how it compared with others. I know with dd1 I would have said about 10 hours a day - about 45 minutes on for each hour off. She would still eat constantly now although she is as thin as a rake.

Anyone found any comfy positions to bf in when it is soooo hot. After a feed we have to peel ourselves away from each other, and you can almost hear the sweat squelch. Delightful .

turtle23 · 24/07/2008 19:24

mrsp-i am a fan of lying down(feeding or otherwise!! ). That means that LO doesn't have to touch you much (except with mine his toes HAVE TO be on me...???) Also fed him with cold slightly damp towel under us, that was lovely and cool.

evie2000 · 24/07/2008 20:59

hello all, been trying to read and keep up and hope all well despite the various trial and tribulations of life with a little one in tow! Turtle relieved to hear all is well as you're relieved - I wonder if anyone is yet preggers from our 'due in march' thread. scarily it's on my mind and we're thinking of getting going - I can't believe I'm even considering it but anyway - it will involve staying awake at bedtime which seems unlikely for now but perhaps i'll perk up one of these days! Had to do a test the other day as had all the symptoms...itchy boobs, total exhaustion and nausea but they've passed and mother nature has proved I'm not - relieved as that would have been too close for my liking!
so be taking care all and keep you your chatting - it makes me smiles as I pop by...i have nothing exciting to add hence my rare posting but anywya - love to all.

fitnfortyone · 26/07/2008 14:06

Argh! A tooth appeared this morning! Then it disappeared again , how does that happen?
It's a tiny little needley bit but obviously hurt enough for LO to scream solidly for over an hour.
We're off to a wedding in an hour so hope he keeps quiet enough for the ceremony to finish before the yelling starts again

littleducks · 26/07/2008 16:09

no garden so pants on, probably p*ss on laminate (trying to keep her off the carpet upstairs) and god help me

CricketsMum · 26/07/2008 22:13

oh lordy... already not looking forward to potty training and we've got ages to go before we need to worry! good luck both of you!

nik76 · 27/07/2008 08:13

Some f@%k decided to let fireworks off at 10pm last night - when its so hot any everyone's windows are open can't believe some people. Bless DD she started crying and thought she wasn't going to go back off but closed all upstairs windows and tucked her back in and thumb went straight in.

e14mum · 27/07/2008 09:48

potty training so far from my mind right now! Still working on rolling over- she did it twice the other night and nothing since. Love the weather- dd will stare at the leaves on a tree for ages in the park!

turtle23 · 27/07/2008 10:11

Poor Pascal has decided that front teeth are for babies and is going for the fangs first. Vampire baby. Trust him to get the painful ones first. He spent last night calpol'd up and frantically attacking a chunk of cucumber. You could hear him gnawing next door, I think.

CricketsMum · 27/07/2008 20:53

have a very hyper baby who is refusing to calm down. have given up on trying to calm her and put her in her bouncer to bounce some of the energy off! decided to start weaning last week in a desperate attempt to get her to sleep more than 3 hours in a row at night... going well so far. Discovered tonight that she likes carrot. alot. she gorged herself on it and then had a huge milk feed. Think her eyes were bigger than her tummy as we now have orange vomit EVERYWHERE... all over me, her, our bed, our bedroom carpet... nice. DH is a sensible man - he has escaped to work!

HolidaysQueen · 28/07/2008 09:03

Rubbish night last night - DS is suffering from a cough, a blocked nose, the heat, teething and a growth spurt. Grrr. Didn't go down until 9.30 (instead of usual 7.30) then fed at 11, 1.45, 2.30, 5.30, 7. That is the worst night since he was 5 days old (so I guess I shouldn't complain too much)

He has an interesting self-discovered cure for teething pains though - chewing his own toes...

turtle23 · 28/07/2008 09:34

Oh HQ, poor you!! I think I may have taken your good night as DS slept pretty much through the night from 645 last night. He never does that! (Must be the combo of formula at bedtime and fan whirring)

fitnfortyone · 28/07/2008 15:15

ooh how exciting, my ex next door neighbour (who was previously married to blokey who became our temp lodger just before I went on mat leave) has just been proposed to by our proper ex lodger...keep up now!

I'll have to recycle an old hat
