She'll be fine izzy, I've lost count of the amount of times ds has fallen off my bed/the sofa/a chair. He has been fine everytime (I hope)!

Bumper, I know how frustrating this is for you, but you can carry on bfing with just one or two feeds a day for ages. When I stopped bfing my dd at about 14-15 months we were only on 1-2 feeds a day and had been for a good few months. She wouldn't feed at all during the day, only first thing in the morning and last thing at night, if that. I think it is quite a normal thing to happen. After all who wants to lie down and feed when there are much more exciting things to do (well my ds does, but he is an exception)?!

Izzybel · 06/06/2008 21:30

I'm exactly the same when it comes to going out, Holly (which I rarely ever do.) Round here, you get loads of young, trendy 16 year olds out and they make me feel like an old fuddy duddy and I'm only 24 (nearly 25).

Bumper, sorry about what you are going through with DD and DH. I have absolutely no experience, as DD has always been FF, but just wanted to lend a sympathetic ear (or eye, seeing as I can't actually hear you ). It sounds as if you have enjoyed BFing (apart from the biting.) It is a special time with DD and it is hard to think of it coming to an end.

Izzybel · 06/06/2008 21:37

Oh yes, DD is a nightmare when it comes to taking her bottle too! She just wants to be off exploring.
She has a playpen/travel cot. TBH it is very handy. I just chuck loads of toys in there and leave her to whinge play. Seriously though, I do like mine coz it means I can quickly get a few things done and I know where DD is. She's not tugging on my leg or banging the cupboards.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/06/2008 21:49

The jamlet has started playing with the kitchen cupboards when i plonk her down in there while I'm cleaning etc. The other day she trapped her finger in a cupboard door and howled, but thankfully no damage done and a kiss made it all better Today she got the egg cups out and was playing with them.

We had an exhausting morning (probably explains her snooze-fest this afternoon). We went for a 4.5 mile walk, then had a quick BF, change and turn around to go swimming. She loved it, especially play with a ball, pushing it backwards and forwards with a friend's DS. And we went to the HV on the way back to check her weight 10.15kg.

OK this is the start of out holiday week, and although we're not away we are going to try to treat it like a proper holiday so I shouldn't be around here too much (We'll see) So have fun and take care.

Izzybel · 06/06/2008 21:53

Have a good week Jammy Have fun!

lackaDAISYcal · 06/06/2008 22:58

helloooooo is there anyone there?

Just back from Tesco. I hate that shop, but we probably saved £50 on an equivalent Sainsbo shop. We picked up a nice cake for DH.....and left it at the end of the checkout....before we paid for it. Arses as it means we need to go back and get another one tomorrow.

glad the fireman lived up to your expectations holly.

After I posted about DD's rash earlier, I looked up and she was lying on top of her dolly, and rubbing herself up and down on it's head! She is obviously very very itchy, but it did look very suspect. I slapped some canesten on it, but I'm not entirely sure what it is to be quite so itchy. Like bumper's DD it's all over her buttocks as well. very strange.

bumper, sorry you're still having feeding woes . DD is really bad with her milk as well, and has to crawl around with the teat between her teeth and stopping for a drink when she feels like it. I've given up trying to feed her on my lap now. MAybe it;s just an age thing and will pass? I'm working on getting DD to take milk from a cup, but she only has about 50ml then pours it on the floor. She doesn't seem to realise that cups and milk can be a combination.

I'm probably talking to myself, so...night all.

Izzybel · 06/06/2008 23:11

I'm here! just realised how long I've been on the computer

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 07/06/2008 05:36

I have lost half a stone

bumperlicious · 07/06/2008 07:41

Jammy, that's great, I am v . I just can't get motivated at all.

DD is getting into all the cupboard now and drawers and trapped her fingers twice yesterday and once today already! I was thinking about using her travel cot as a play pen, but we have just got her sleeping in it so well I don't want her to get confused.

Hope JBM is ok x

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 07/06/2008 07:52

Morning Bumper. Am exhausted already, DD had me up at 5am! She's asleep now though, but although I'm tired I'm awake for the day IYKWIM

I guess it must be the walking that's shifted the weight, I've certainly been eating too much cheap cake for it to be my diet

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 07/06/2008 07:58

And sorry to hear about your BF troubles, and particularly that it's causing friction between you and DH. As for the cupboard opening etc, personally I try to let DD investigate as long as I don't think she's in any real danger or likely to damage something valuable. If she's inquisitive, she'll learn more, is my reasoning. Oviously safety is important too but life isn't risk free.

Sputnik · 07/06/2008 08:02

Congratulations Jammy, that's impressive.

Daisy, I had visions there of your DD dragging you accross the floor by the nipple! I assume you're not bf anymore then

Baby Sputnik woke me up at 6 again, pretty much a regular thing these days It's a pain as I'm not getting enough sleep unless I go to bed really really early, which I don't want to do as it's the inly time I get to myself.

What is this attraction to doors do you think? I suppose it's like lift the flap on a grand scale.

Sputnik · 07/06/2008 08:05

I keep meaning to set up a "safe" cupboard for the baby's entertainment.

Anyone know where Ria is? She hasn't posted for ages, was she going somewhere?

bumperlicious · 07/06/2008 08:05

Morning sputnik

I know what you mean jammy, and mostly I let DD just roam as she please (she is currently pulling all the washing from my clothes horse) but it is exhausting and demoralising constantly saying "dd - no! No! NO! Don't touch that!"

bumperlicious · 07/06/2008 08:07

That's a good idea sputnik - we don't have an inch of space unfortunately, and you can bet they wouldn't bloody be interested!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 07/06/2008 08:14

Morning Sputnik.

I like the idea of a safe cupboard, but we are so tight on cupboard space I'm not sure if I could arrange it. When she started trying to play with the bowls the other day though I did find all the plastic bowls and cups and some plastic spoons and forks and let her play with them. She was happy for ages, putting little bowls inside big ones etc.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 07/06/2008 08:15

I had the same thought about Ria the other day

Sputnik · 07/06/2008 08:16

What I mean't was transferring all the fun non breakable kitchen stuff to 1 cupboard they are allowed to access, so you just rearrange.

Actually Baby Sputnik's latest is the computer, making it difficult to use the laptop on the sofa.

lackaDAISYcal · 07/06/2008 08:16

Morning all....I see Im not the only one up early!

the only cupboard I sanction is the one under the sink with all the cleaning stuff in. In one I've got all the plastic plates and cups and tupperwares on the bottom shelf and she loves pulling it all out to play with. I never thought it was me letting her be creative though, just too lazy to fix more cupboard latches

Bumper, DD has learnt new words this week, NoNoNo, Bad Girl and Dirty. Not entirely sure she knows what any of them mean, but hey ho!

She is currently playing with the buttons on the tv/video/cable box, and has pulled one of the surround sound speakers out from beside the TV.

Her bottom rash has spread to her tummy and chest this morning and is really itchy. She keeps clawing at herself. Have resorted to fucidin incase it's infected and itch relief cream. Think we might need to see the out of hours doc though.

I'm starting my peer supporter training this morning. It;s a long day though: 9:30 til 3:30. Can't remember the last time I had to concentrate for that long, and will I manage it without falling asleep? Still it's nice to do something for me, without DCs running around my feet.

lackaDAISYcal · 07/06/2008 08:19

oh FFS. She was very quiet, sitting with her back to me and was chomping. Went to see what she was eating (!)...and she had found a tube of sun cream and was eating it like fecking squeezy cheese.

It isn't toxic is it??????

lackaDAISYcal · 07/06/2008 08:25

I'm off...catch you all later

have a good day everyone

bumperlicious · 07/06/2008 08:43

Hope DD is ok daisy! God it's fecking exhausting. DD is the same with the laptop sputnik, and she throws a strop when she can get what she wants. It's partly my own fault as I refuse to have everything we own 2 feet up, she needs to learn she can't have everything she wants. Feels a bit mean sometimes though.

Daisy, can't believe your dd is talking so much! DD has started saying teddy, but she'll only say it first thing in the morning

It's a glorious day her, but DH is at work

Sputnik · 07/06/2008 09:18

Don't get your hopes up of DD learning any such thing at this stage Bumper

The weather is crap here. I have a looooong weekend ahead of me.

HellHathNoFury · 07/06/2008 13:31

Hi Everyone

DS and DH are ill. Again. Wooooo.
DS also ran outside before we could stop him (yes running is IN in the Fury house now) and then he tripped and flew out the door and faceplanted on the deck. Cue massive swollen cheeks and lips, grazed chin and nose. He looks like I beat him regularly.

We did put things 2 feet up but DS is now so sure of himself and agile that he can reach anything, including stuff on the dining table etc. Nothing is safe anymore. I am exhausted and miserable.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 07/06/2008 14:39

Oh dear fury, hope ds is ok. Mine fell out of the front door a few weeks ago, with similar results! I was convinced people would think I was beating him, fortunately no-one did. Hope dh is ok too.

Hope the suncream has had no lasting effects daisy!

Help me choose a dress to go out tonight. I've put the top 3 on my profile. I was going to go shopping today and get a summery dress, but I didn't really get round to it, so I'm stuck with variations on black! I have no clue and need an objective opinion. Dp keeps telling me I look fine! Grrr....!
