Pina- I think you're a bit quick in the shopping department ! I doubt you'll be this shape for long, but it's not just your uterus making bits stick out- it's everything else that's been stretched as well ( including your skin!) that'll take weeks if not months to settle down. Yes, I would expect there'll be some extra round the middle, but it won't be exactly as you are now for very long. Its tough finding clothes to fit- I have some truly awful stuff I bought last time as maternity stuff hung off me and I was completely a different shape to pre-baby. this time I'm just flabbier round the middle, so my forgiving elastic waists let me wear 2 skirts that I got last year (though I wear the waist bands under my boobs, not at my waist!!).

GCG- I would go NUTS at the idea of so many people in my space! No WAY would I let DH entertain that idea- good luck to you grinning and bear it- your DH IS being unreasonable. the best baby in the worls still will wake its MUM up more (esp as you're breastfeeding) than Dad, so he CAN't know how you feel, especially as noone can predict how much sleep you'll get between now and then, as these little one's just make up the rules as they go along!

RIght, today is my FIRST day home alone with both girls. DH is back at work ( and very kindly came home at his lunchtime to make sure we'd survived the morning), childminder was meant ot have DD1 today but has been to a funeral, my parents were back up but this is one day they have visitors from Canada, and final back up was nursery but its full. Can you believe it- I've survived!!! I've actually got on here as well! DD2 has slept like an angel on a schedule all day (so tonight will be pants) and DD1 was soo good, and even had a nap for 1.5 hrs. We even (with a friend who was visiting) got across the busy main road to the post box so I've got out the house. OMG! I've been dreading it soo much and today has almost been nice. I just hope DD2 sleeps this much usually so I can sleep during the day when DD1 is at childminders, I'm a nap or two down today, and so far DD2 feeds/complains lots in the evening, so I don't get to sleep until after midnight.Wow, coping at home with 2 girls, I didn't think I could do it ( despite millions of people out there coping with 2 and more EVERY day ).

just quickly - pina they say 9 months on 9 months off and that's pretty relaistic. and sorry to dispel any myths that we might all hope to believe but it never goes back quite the same.....

your uterus should go back to prepreg sizer by 6 week check or so.

must go it's bath time

Birth Announcement

Issa was born on Sunday the 11th of May at 01:37am, weight: 2670 gram which is 5.8 lb i think,
established Labour took only 2hrs 37mins
only tens and gas&air as pain relief, so there is hope for second timers here. i am soo suprised how i did that without anyting stronger.
he is soo tiny but has a very good appetite and he is doing so great.
he sleeps most of the time and i am able to get a good rest in between feeds and at night.

hopital was really chaotic/busy, but we are doing great, we came home yesterday.
have to say i could do it again
will post more later on

JackBlackRoady · 13/05/2008 08:04

wow congrats azaduhi! cool name too, looking forward to seeing photos!

pina - love the latest fb pics of evie! hope your weight drops off soon, i expect it will what with running around after your eldest and weightlifting with your youngest!

gcg - i agree with all you said in your first paragraph! isla usually goes 3.5/4 hrs but i am so much more relaxed than i was with ds!

anyway hope you are all well and have chance to get outside for a walk in the sunshine!

love jbr xxx

goodcatholicgirl · 13/05/2008 09:13

pina It sounds as if you are very normal with your weight loss so far. It took me a year after DD1 to get within half a stone of my pre-kiddies weight. I'm doing better this time, but only cos I'm not eating for England, which was a mistake I made last time . You definitely change shape too. I have lost a fair bit of weight already but I still look about 4 months pregnant! I bought lots of cheapy (Tesco/Asda) linen trousers etc in a size bigger than normal last time with DD1, and I am able to wear those now. I agree with mumofk, don't go shopping too soon!!

mumofk yay! to you and well done for surviving your first day with them both on your own. I still have a week of DH being on paternity leave, but I am not looking forward to his first day back, esp as DD1 goes to CM weds am, so I have to get her there for 8am!!!!! That's try and feed DD2 and DD1 have breakfast and leave the house by 7:45am....eeeeekkkk!!!

Azaduhi Congrats and welcome to your lo, sounds like you had a good birth experience.

Thanks for suggestions re-DD1's birthday, but tbh, I can't suggest the park (it's half hour walk away and my neices and nephews are the sort that get driven everywhere). Also, it's just expected of me to do this, I think they would think I was pathetic if I couldn't. His family do this sort of thing all the time so it's just expected.

Did anyone see 'teen mum high' on BBC2 last night?? That poor girl giving birth at home with the whole bloody family there watching her!!!!!!.

I also sky plussed 'the baby race' on channel 4 which I watched the beginning of and looked v sad, and made me feel very lucky to have my lovely family .

Hiya and congratulation to all the new arrivals,

I can now join this thread too. Joseph was born on 1 May, a few days earlier than his 4 May due date. He is long and his big feet and weighed just 5lb 3oz, but has managed to go up to 6 ½ lb already! Think it?s because he?s convinced he?s permanently starving and is making up for lost time. Lol! It might also have something to do with him being permanently latched on ? because he?s so tiny he?s been feeding every 2 hours for an hour - I am starting to feel like a cow and have taken to sitting on the settee saying moo moo! The midwife signed him off yesterday and said he could now feed on demand, so I?m hoping he?ll go a bit longer between feeds now.

We?ve had a few sleeping problems. He wouldn?t sleep at night unless he was being held until a couple of days ago, now it varies depending on his mood ? last night was a bit rough, but the night before he managed 3 hours in his moses basket. I?m so tired I?ve nodded off holding him a couple of times? We?ve got him a bean bag, which seems to work during the day, but night time is really hit and miss.

I can sympathise with all those with MIL problems. Mine thinks she knows how to do everything better than us. She and DP fell out yesterday, she told DP to stop cuddling DS so much and he snapped back ? he?s my son! Afterwards she had to go to bed as he gave her a migraine apparently? Doesn?t seem to have stopped her opinions though, but I guess (hope!) it will change when she starts to see us as parents, and we?ve worked out what we?re doing a bit more?

casserole i'm with you i think on that one - ds1 was colicky and it looks like ds2 is going the same way. a warm bath does seem to be helping with him though. we are also stuffing gripe water down his neck as that helped with ds1 - am thinking of you though.

also today we have decided to go for 2 hourly feeds - after being fed at 2030 last night waking at 0030 then 0230 then 0445 then 0645.....am knackered.

and also sorry to tellyou all i've been diganosed with pnd and have ad's to start tomorrow. it's just all a bit too much at the moment - not just with the 2 children but the builders, plumbers, carpenters, window guys, decorators etc to carry on organising. and dh being less than helpful by phoning and saying "don't want to add to your burden but...." and then f*ing proceeding to do so....

anyway, must away - well done to our new joiners, and will catch up properly soon

and ps the only good bit of news is that i have actually managed to shed every pound of my preg weight already, I just need to tone it all up as i look terrible in a bikini and i have nice stretch marks so slapping on the strivectin 3 times a day!

Hello again, it's me....in disguise!!!!

I've decided to revert to an old chatname I had as I'm a bit nervous that with all the slagging off of DH's family recently that I may get found out !!!

GCG xxx

from now on will be known as luckymummy (cos I am a luckymummy!!!)

sweetbean · 14/05/2008 08:47

Hi lovely May ladies just popping my head in to say hello and see how you all are xxxx

luckymummy74 · 14/05/2008 08:57

Hi all,

Feeling a bit clever this morning as I just managed to walk DD1 to the CM's house for 8am, with DD2 in a sling. I had one minor hitch with a vomit from DD2, so DH helped a bit, it was supposed to be a trial run for when he is back at work next week (after 4 weeks off....I'm really gonna miss him!!!! )

Does anyone else have a grunting baby??? Me and DH were pissing ourselves laughing in bed last night (bit over-tired I think), cos every night, I feed DD2 before we go to sleep, then put her down in her crib, awake, and she then proceeds to 'grunt' herself to sleep. It sounds like either a woman in labour, or a world's strongest man contest!!! Occasionally we also get a big squelch in the nappy dept too. God only knows why she has to strain to expel what is basically yellow water [hm].

Health Visitor coming at 10am. Oh joy.

LM74 (GCG!!)

Morning all,

COngrats to Baiyu and Azaduhi

GCG - nice new name! I felt v smug the first time I got DS to nursery for 8am with DD in tow. Well done you! I have a bit of a grunter too and also do not understand the need for straining to pass the yellow stuff! Although she hasn't pooed since Sunday so I am expecting a small explosion at any time... sorry tmi...

Flick - sorry to hear about the pnd and hope the AD's help v soon. My HV has already put me down for a 10 week course in how to cope with pnd as it was never diagnosed with DS and I really struggled. It doesn't start til Sept though so if I need help beforehand I will have to see GP. Well done on the weight too. I am back in pre DD clothes but have a way to go before I am in my pre DS clothes.

To those with colic / wind issues, I am using a natural product called Windy Pops! It has fennel and camomile in and seems to work for DD, when she starts up with it. I shall also be purchasing good old Gripe water too.

Hi Sweetbean - hope to see you soon!

YellowFlower · 14/05/2008 10:57

Lm74 ? yes, our baby grunts too! And the straining is very very funny. I dread to think what it?s going to be like for him when he starts on solids

Flick ?seconding the at your weight loss! And hugs if you need them?

Pina ? yup it was my mil that turned up at the hospital, dp is her only child and this is our first baby so she is really over excited by the whole grandmother thing. Fingers crossed she?ll calm down soon ?

Also lol at your dp, mine is so tired by the baby waking him all the time he seems to be spending most of his paternity leave asleep. Although to be fair we do seem to be going backwards on the sleeping, we tried him in the bean bag on the bed, as well as in the moses basket and crib last night and he didn?t last longer than an hour any where. I?m tempted to look into one of those baby whisperer / gina ford books if he keeps this up, although I am actually getting used to functioning with no sleep now ?I was reading that breastfeeding hormones change your sleep patterns to be closer to your babies, so maybe that?s why.

baiyu · 14/05/2008 12:12

Hello! Lovely to be on the other side! I'll have a read back at what I'm sure is a wealth of knowledge when I get a second but just checking in and joining the club! My birth story is here if anyone wants a look. I'll pop some pictures of Finn up soon, there's some on facebook now. Milk's just come in so feel absolutely massive! Life is good.

luckymummy74 · 14/05/2008 12:53

pina at toilet blockage problems!!

Welcome Baiyu, let's see some pics of Finn soon! Hope your Bosoms aren't too painful....so glad I'll never have to experience that again!

flick I too am v sorry to hear that you have PND. Do you have a good support network of friends and family??

My sis just emailed me to see if I wanna see the SATC film when it's out.....hell yeah!! I'm hoping to be able to express by mid june and leave DH with a bottle so that I can have a Carrie-fest!!

HV been, DD2 put on another 3 oz since Saturday, that's 10oz since she was born 2 weeks ago today . Looks like my gold top is doing it's job .

LM74 xx

luckymummy74 · 14/05/2008 12:54

Obviously the bottle of breast milk would be for DD2, nit DH, as it sounded in that last post!!

podglet · 14/05/2008 13:38

LM74 - ROFL at DH with bottle of BM sure he would prefer a bottle of something a little more adult

Baiyu - just posted on your other thread but congrats again. Just checked your profile out in case you had popped some pics on and I have to say what a high up bump you had!

thefortbuilder · 14/05/2008 18:48

hey all thanks for the good wshes hugs and the - am back at the gym on monday so oping to start toning up as well

had sam's 8 week check at the hospital today - he's all signed off and is a massive 9lb3! that's 2lb in just over 2 weeks , and he's in proportion for length as well which is great!

the only bad thing is that he has a very small umbilical hernia but they reckon it should correct and not need operating, unlike ds1's groinal one which had to be emergency operated.

catch up more later
