wow flick sam has put on weight brilliantly! at your dh - hope he gets more helpful - my dh has gone back to work 2day - but we still have no hob in the kitchen (although we do have an oven and a sink ) so i am off into town to get a little gas canister for our camping stove! that is, if isla stops pooing, weeing and posseting on us both

podglet · 30/04/2008 14:29

Wow, we are increasing over here! I must say that we all have very good choices of names too!

Hope everybody ok, we are still doing well. Just about to put on some more pics...

thefortbuilder · 30/04/2008 15:41

just done a count and we are 11 girls to 3 boys! wow the boys will really have the pick won't they

will try and get round to putting some pics on, have been very slack i know!

having a much better day today - sam had a good night last night - 930 then 120 then 615 so very pleased about that, except the house opposite had a burglar alarm that suddenly started going off at 230 - sam and i were sleeping in the family room downstairs (spare room being plastered so no bed) and we couldn't hear it, but dh comes running down saying "is that our alarm going off???" waking me up - given that he accidentally pressed our panic button last weekend which set the alarm off and it was a billion times louder than last night's effort, you'd think he'd know! good thing is that the police were round in 4 minutes flat! and v inconsiderate of dh to wake me up when he knows how knackered i am

how is everyone doing today?

keeping dry?

Wow Flick, that was a good night and I love Sam's full name, it's even longer than Libby's!

We're keeping dry by snuggling up on the sofa with lots of tea, not looking forward to fetching DS from nursery later. My double buggy still isn't ready to use (waiting for the newborn insert to arrive) so I have to use a single buggy and sling. DS can be kept dry with the rain shield but DD and I will get wet.

goodcatholicgirl · 01/05/2008 15:23

Helllooooooo!

I am now officially allowed to join you!!! Cerys Mary born at 04:58 on Weds 30th April, 7lbs 7oz.
Super super quick, 2.5 hrs start to finish. I was 9 cm by the time I got to hospital!!! For the full story (if you're interested) look at the ante-natal thread, I can't be bothered to type it all again!!! It's quite inspiring!!

Cerys is so far doing very well, very content, sleeping and feeding well. Bit sore on the old nips but I remember being like that for a few days with DD1.

I am chuffed to bits. Will post again soon.

goodcatholicgirl · 01/05/2008 15:32

Here it is......

GCG birth story

Having been a complete miserable cow on Tuesday night following my MW appt, I had a bath and went to bed early. Actually blubbed in bed cos I felt so fed up. DH wanted sex but I wasn't in the mood at all so denied!!
2:30am, woke up for the loo, had abdo pain but couldn't work out if it was 'bowel' pains or contractions. Had a few contractions which were painful, but not too bad. After the previous day, didn't want to believe it could actually be happening.
Woke DH after half an hour as they were getting stronger. He suggested we ring my sis (half hr drive away) to come and look after DD, and I still kept saying 'let's just wait and see what happens, it might be a false alarm'. Luckily he insisted! We rang the hospital and they said if I was dealing with the pain I could stay home a bit longer if I wanted, but then I had 2 strong contractions while I was on the phone to them (they seemd to be only mins apart straight away, similar to DD1) so they suggested I came in. Luckily we are only a 5 min drive away. Got to hospital, got checked by MW, and I enquired if I was dilated at all yet and she said ' umm yes, 9 cm'!!!!!! !! Then I said that my community MW had told me she was on call tonight so I could ask them to call her in to deliver baby and she laughed and said 'she won't have time to get here, this baby will be here in 15 mins or so' !!! I was then a kind of mixture of scared and relieved! I had ONE urge to push, I pushed, and out she came, just like that......it really was that quick. I had gas and air towards the end, but didn't even have time to get the TENS machine out of the bag!!!! 2.5 hrs start to finish!!
No tearing or stitches (RLT??!!)

So I am chuffed to bits. Obviously a bit sore but nowhere near as much as with DD1.
I didn't say as much beforehand cos we didn't know what we were having but I really wanted another girl, I love the fact I have 2 girls, and so does DH.

Azaduhi · 01/05/2008 23:10

Hi all and congrats. Just posting and running as dinner ready. Correcting Nico's birth weight as I clculated it wrong...it's all done in kilos here in Spain. He's 5 weeks now and up to 8lbs 4oz. I'm mixed feeding as he was put on a bottle in hospital as he wouldn't latch on. Getting better at breast and hoping to gradually switch over.
Hope everyone's doing well. Will post more soon.

Helloooo May ladies!!

I got home on May 1st, so I did kind of squeeze in officially

Pic of my gorgeous girl on profile.

Expanded birth story on Birth Announcements thread here

Dh proffering tea and doughnuts, so I'm off for no - but I shall return!!

goodcatholicgirl · 02/05/2008 22:04

bobsmum Martha looks gorgeous .

All fairly good here. Cerys doing well. BF kind of OK, no major probs other than she seems to have one good feed of 20-40 mins, then one not so good where she only feeds for 5 mins then not interested at all. DH currently walking her around trying to settle her, don't know if it's wind or hunger, she had a 15 min feed at 6:30 then a silly 5 min feed at 8pm. I really don't want to get into a habit of her having only 5 mins every 1.5 hrs so trying to stretch her out til 11pm (another hour). My milk has come in so boobs like rocks and quite sore. Tingling as we speak as I can hear her crying . Really wanna feed her but have to be strong!!

Other wise she is sleeping lots. DD1 still smitten.

Will post some pics on my profile in a bit....

bobsmum · 02/05/2008 22:18

Hi GCG - congrats on Cerys Mary - they were both on our list too

Had a good b/f day today I think cos my milk's in properly now and Martha's really enjoying chugging away. But until then she's had stints of 3/4 hours where she's just wanted to be latched on, switched sides and latched on endlessly. She would go 4 hours between feeds if I let her, but I think she's too young to wait that long, so I'm waking her up, changing her nappy and feeding her every 2/3.

If her latch isn't great (but she's been better today) I spend the first few minutes stuffing extra bits of nipple into her mouth so she's not just nipple feeding IYSWIM.

She looks nothing like dd1 did as a newborn, but is very like ds. Want to buy lots of pink things now as I gave away most of dd1's newborn/0-3 mth stuff before I'd persuaded dh to have just one more go

Might have a quick nose online just now

goodcatholicgirl · 02/05/2008 22:37

bobsmum Hiya!! . Congrats to you to on birth of Martha (lovely name too btw!).

I have just put some pics of Cerys on my profile page.

Casserole · 03/05/2008 12:31

Just checking in. All going well here (day 8 today I think) - BFing much much easier since milk has come in and getting there with latch-on and attachment. Watched a DVD this morning on BFing that my midwife lent me and it was more useful than I thought - as well as the usual nose to nipple and wait for babe's mouth to be wide open I also realised that instead of letting his head naturally lean back I had been holding it straight / forwards, which meant he wasn't getting such a good mouthful, and I was also ending up with my hand under my boob / his chin which wasn't helping him get a good suck going.

Adjusted those and he seems to have latched on much better today, even on my left side which for some reason is generally more painful - my right rarely hurts at all and if it does I usually know why - ie rubbish latch etc.

I also had a hot shower before feeding him this morning as my boobs had got really hard and sore overnight and that def helped too.

Anyway, thought I'd post those thoughts in case it helps anyone.

Have good days with your babies all

goodcatholicgirl · 03/05/2008 12:49

casserole I am glad you are finding BF getting a bit easier. Is this your first time feeding? I found the first 3-6 weeks hardest last time, but once it's established it's usually much easier. Stick with it girl, you're doing really well.

My milk has come in . My boobs are enormous. I seriously look like Jordan! They are soooo big and hard, like 2 footballs! I know it doesn't last long but by jingo they hurt!!!

All well here. Had a fab night, Cerys fed at 11pm, then 3pm, went straight back to sleep, then I woke her at 7:30am to feed. She then slept all morning til I woke her to feed at 11am. My brother took DD1 to the park so I've had a very chilled am!!

I'm sure the shit will hit the fan sooner or later.

pina she is just the sweetest thing ever! big congratulations and hugs coming your way xxx

Big congrats to GCG too - and i know what you mean about the boobs! I am loving being a 36DD!!! But not loving the discomfort! Isla is 4 weeks old on Weds and boobs are settling, but i can't BF lying down very well, maybe just as well as i might fall asleep and roll over!

Snooks - congrats! see you on here soon!

right, must go and spend some time with DS - i thing he needs lots of kisses and cuddles at the moment - I am trying to embarass and love him in equal measures

mumofk · 04/05/2008 16:38

Hi all, just a quick hello to say we've not dissapearedof the face of mumsnet- I can hardly get on here these days, just where does all the time go????
Jas is feeding well, mostly 3 hours from start of one to start of the next, with odd 1 hr gaps and I once got 4 hours sleep, but that was scary when I woke up. Now my cough has settled (and stress incontinence went with it- I had a really bad cough, honest!!) so I'm fine with ordinary coughing and sneezing. I recall from last time I got told I had one flat nipple, and Jas needs help getting enough boob in to feed- I hope she gets the hang of it soon, feeding out is still a bit stressful.
She's in her bambino mios since meconium days are over (didn't fancy washing that!) and I've got one size 1 fluffle- awww its HUGE but she's not pood in it yet, so haven't tested it properly for leaks.Cuteness stakes though, thats m favorite.
I sent DH out for a dummy after my horrible night, and Jas won't have it, she's settled for sucking on a finger as boob substitute, and 10-20 mins will really help her settle, along with a secure swaddle (its taken me 8 days to remember how to get it right!). Her jaundice is finally going as well.
DD1 is fascinated by baby- first question is where is she, then wants cuddles and keeps trying to share toys- need to watch that!
Got to go, demands for both hands and boob...

podglet · 04/05/2008 19:18

Pina - she is gorgeous! The pain in your chest should go soon - I had this with DD too. I also had the back pain, I suppose it is to do with the spinal injection. I found the anti inflamatory's made me quite ill so just took paracetamol and ibuprufen (sorry, spelling rubbish) to help it.

JBR - just seen your post about your DS on the other thread - that's brilliant, he won't be doing that again!

Libby is asleep in her basket at the moment, in what her uncle calls her "fallen off a ceiling" pose - arms up by her head, legs up and to the side! Still getting lovely 3 - 4 hour sleeps at night - still touching wood when I type that!

goodcatholicgirl · 05/05/2008 14:43

mumofK Well done on the feeding. Cerys is similar, can usually go 4 hrs+ between feeds but every now and then goes 1.5 or 2 hrs, but only has a short feed, then obviously needs another feed an hour or so later. I asked the MW today and she said that's normal in summer months as they often just want a 'drink' of the thirst quenching foremilk. Glad I asked now. She also said, if they only have a quick 'drink' feed on one side, then start with that boob again next time, don't switch sides.

Pina Evie looks so cute, she looks so much bigger than Cerys considering she was only 5 oz more birth weight? She has the sweetest little face, not all screwed up and newborn looking (Cerys looks like Winston Churchill!). I am dying to know how your DD1 is coping with it all? Has she been OK? My DD1 has been fab....however, some friends have told me there's were in the beginning, but it soon wore off!

podglet hmmm, Cerys definitely looks as if she has just fallen off the ceiling too!!

Well, both 'my girls' (love saying that!) are asleep, hence MN time!!! Yay! Cerys was weighed today and has put on half an oz so that's reassured me that BF going well.
She is sleeping really well. I have to wake her to feed her at 4am, then she goes til 8am.

What a lovely day, what a lovely time of year to have a baby!!!
