magicfairy Really hope the mastitis clears up soon....

YCBS I know all too well of the whole bodyfat/ muscle weighs more than fat etc (part of the job!). But, anal as I am, I not only weigh myself but also measure my body fat....yep, we have one of those machines that does it! (DH bit obssessed, and I suppose I am a bit too). Body fat staying the same, it's 26% After DD1 it went up to 33% !! My MIL did hers once and she was.....wait for it.....50% fat......unbelievable. And she still didn't change her diet.

IndigoBlue · 25/07/2008 22:41

YCNBS - the house looks gorgeous! hope it's as good in real life when you look at it!

magicfairy - sorry to hear about the mastitis, hope the antibiotics kick in quickly and you start feeling better.

LM74 - 50% sounds pretty high! I'm sure mine's probably quite high at the moment though so probably a good thing i don't know what it is as would be depressing!

Off to a wedding today....bit random, it's the daughter of my in-laws next door neighbour . DH grew up with her (although she's 10 yrs younger than him) but I've only met her twice and never met her fella. It feels a bit weird to be going all day. I can just imagine at dinner later....

"so, how do you know the bride/groom?"

"erm, I don't really...."

My sister is having DD1 for the day and we are allowed to take DD2 as I am BFing, although I'm taking a bottle of EBM as I don't fancy sitting BF at a table at a wedding where I don't know anyone.

It looks like it's gonna be another lovely day....

Let us know how the house viewing went YCBS

Hi everyone, just seen this thread. My DD is 10 weeks old. Just wondered if anyone had bad joint pains after having their babbins? Getting sharp pains in my ankles, wrists and fingers and wondering what on earth is going on!

YCBS good luck with the house offer....

beanybean welcome!! No sharp joint pains here...maybe see your GP if it persists. Any swelling at the joints??

We're just back from the wedding which ended up being much better than I thought it would be, I had a lovely day!!! DD2 was really good although the little monkey hardly slept all day, and is still wide awake now!

I had a rather surreal experience at the wedding where I had to feed her, so my FIL offered me their car as they have a big people carrier with blacked out windows....perfect (no baby room at venue, not even a chair in the toilets ).
So there I am, sitting in my FIL's car, with my tits out, and whitney houston's 'I will always love you' on pan pipes on the stereo (he likes a bit of pan pipes). DH was with me to keep me company, and we did chuckle to ourselves!!!

Just milking myself now so that I don't look like Jordan tomorrow morning!!

G'nite all.....

Hey ladies

Not checked in for a while-been running around for days. Seen MIL and SIL today. I think I deserve some form of medal or other formal recognition for having seen them two weekends in a row.

It is getting quieter on here isn't it!

Re the joint pain question-yes, me too! my hands, knees and even feet are aching frequently as well as back and neck ache. I am actually starting to worry I'm doing lasting damage to my neck. Must get it checked out soon!

Will post more tomorrow. Goodnight girls.

beanybean · 27/07/2008 11:18

Thanks for your notes on the joint pains...no swelling just random pains. Will have to see GP methinks as I feel like an old lady! Has anyone been abroad yet? Still unsure about the whole sterlising, what water to use etc malarky for bottle feeding.Heard you shouldn't boil some mineral water as it increased sodium content. Is that right?!

macaco · 27/07/2008 12:39

Hi everyone

Mocat in answer to your question of AGES ago, yes I went into labour spontaneously at 36+1, no idea why...had had no problems or indications during pregnancy. The only thing was at the last scan 2 weeks before his estimated weight was what he was actually born at 2160g (4lb 12)so don't know whether that was inaccurate or he stopped growing and so had to come out? He wasn't in an incubator at all and came home with me so we were very lucky.

luckymummy74 · 27/07/2008 12:43

beanybean We haven't been and don't intend to go abroad until our kids are at least 5 years old . Call me a wimp but I just cannot face the airport, the flights, the not knowing what they can eat and drink etc... DH and I are more than happy to holiday in Cornwall for the time being..... I'm sure if you have queries, if you post on the travel section you'll get answers to your questions.

macaco · 27/07/2008 12:59

beanybean I haven't been abroad yet, or even back to Britain (live in Spain) as I can't face the huge amounts of crap I'd have to cart around with me and all the hassle of taking all that on a plane! As far as water goes I think anywhere in Europe tap water should be fine especially as you'll then be boiling it anyway and so eliminating anything noxious. I've also heard no to mineral water, mineral and salt contents being too high.

monkeysmama · 27/07/2008 13:15

Beanybean, I am going abroad in 3 weeks. They say going with little babies (my baby girl is ten weeks too) is relatively easy I am bf but I'd post on the Travel forum for advice about water and sterilising. I am sure there is a travel steriliser and I saw a post about sterilising abroad a few weeks back.

MM

beanybean · 27/07/2008 19:04

Cheers for the advice. Dreading the travelling too but going for a family wedding so not optional unfortunately. Will check out the travel section.

luckymummy74 · 27/07/2008 21:44

Phew! It's hot

monkeysmama · 27/07/2008 21:56

Isn't it! My LO hasn't been a happy bunny. ended up with her naked near a fan to cool down. She's fed about double the usual amount today too.

DS has been feeding for Ireland here - anyone feeding for Scotland or Wales ? I've tried him with cooled boiled water this morning in case it's mainly thirst (after his morning feed). He gave it a go but only a few sucks..

YCBS Any more news on the lovely house? Were you planning on moving and is your house on the market?

macaco It sounds as if DS's growth could have been what triggered labour, doesn't it? Isn't the body amazing to know it was perhaps time to deliver so your baby could gain weight more quickly outside of the womb. The docs kept delivering babies early in hosp when I was in for that very reason.

Hi beanybean. lm74 I'm glad you enjoyed the wedding. The 'milking' phrase is a bit bovine - does a burly farmer come to collect you morning and evening ?

Do any of your babies choke when they are feeding or just spontaneously? I suspect DS had reflux as he frequently brought up milk but as his weight gain was great the doc thought we didn't need to go down the junior gaviscon route. I wasn't keen on making up a paste and administering that several times a day. He chokes quite a lot, at least once a day, sometimes in his sleep, sometimes during a feed. Just wondering if any of your babies do it too.

I'm on a curtain-buying mission on ebay. I keeping being outbid at the last minute - there's obviously a knack to it which involves sitting on the computer when the auction is about to expire but I'm too busy. I'm going to redecorate on a tiny budget so I figure cheap but lovely curtains are the way to go!

Morning

DD has a little choke twice a day (followed by me having a little heart attack) It is very worrying for me but dr said it's like sneezing to clear her nose. Not very reassuring in my book but it doesn't seem to hurt her at all.

maybug · 28/07/2008 10:54

Hello everyone, just found the May 08 thread...my dd was born 20 mins before June began so she is 8 wks now. How are you finding things, have you got a pattern to your day or do you find it varies considerably? What time do your babies go to bed?!

Mocat · 28/07/2008 11:02

ycbs I've never heard of auction sniper or bidnapper! I'll look them up, thanks. However, (drumroll), I have just won my first pair of curtains !!! They're a lovely pair for DD's bedroom. I'm so chuffed.

monkeysmama Thanks for that, it's good to know he's not the only one. I know what you mean about the heart attacks, DS had quite a bad choking session this morning (lasted about 7 seconds) and I still feel upset by it - he's fine, thank God. He got milk in his lung after choking when he was three weeks old and spent 48 hours in hospital. He was absolutley fine once his breathing had settled (which took a few hours) but the doctors felt he needed IV anti-biotics so that's why he was admitted. Normally, he corrects the choking himself but the odd time he needs to be turned onto his front and hit on the back. Scars the poop out of me!

Mocat · 28/07/2008 11:03

Hi maybug. DS just woken from morning nap so got to go. Will post about routine later .
