I have a question. I am in a real dilemma about whether I can leave my dd for a whole day & evening. She is breastfed only and I want it to stay that way. However I will be flying and am really concerned that if I am delayed at all so is her food . My friend is giving her baby SMA Gold. I know little about these things - if I was delayed and dp had to give her something like that in a bottle would she a.) be okay (not sick?) and b.) be okay having my milk again afterwards?

Will look on bfing topic but trust you ladies more,

Thanks!
MM

Mitchell81 · 04/07/2008 20:21

MM: with my eldest two kids they had my expressed breastmilk and SMA gold and happily took either. Your DD should be fine, but you will need to express otherwise you will have lovely wet clothes.
Hope you are ok for the funeral.

Re: weddings I also think kids should be invited

luckymummy74 · 04/07/2008 21:06

monkeysmama I agree with mitchell, you should be fine, but you will definitely need to express at least a couple of times as your boobs will be enormous and yes, you will have wet clothes.

You lot have got me all thinking now, we have been invited to a wedding at the end of July, it's DH's parents next door neighbour's daughter (!!!!) basically, DH grew up with this girl. Me, DH, his parents, and his two sisters and their DH's have been invited but none of the children (which would be another 10 people so I can understand that in this instance, IYSWIM) We have arranged for my sis to have DD1 for the day but just assumed we would be OK taking DD2 as she will only be 3 months old and is exclusively BF. I have just told DH he will have to ring the mother of the bride to check it's OK now!! Bless him, he thought it was outrageous that monkeysmama's lo has been banned from the wedding, and said if that happens to us, he won't go to the wedding out of principal!!!
I have always found it strange too, the whole no kids thing.....bloody weirdos!

Today DD1 actually did a wee in her potty!!! Yay! I am a little more optimistic for next week now, D-day (or should I say PT day ) is Monday.
Today we went to look at a school for DD1, she's only 2 but if she goes to nursery there we have to apply this September, for her to start Jan 2010 (!!). Anyway, the school was lovely, so we really hope she gets in. It's a catholic school (obviously, GCG, remember!!) and very hard to get in to.
I cannot believe that I have reached a stage in my life where I have 2 kids and I'm looking at schools....!! I know I'm 34, but really, doesn't seem 5 mins since I was at school myself!

DD2 had her first lot of jabs today. INitially very sleepy, fell asleep in the trolley at Tescos!! Tonight she's been inconsolable, poor thing. Have just given her Calpol, a long feed and she is now in bed. Fingers crossed!

I have a v good friend due today and DH's cousin's wife due any day too....they have both had their 'show' so the race is on!!! I am so excited for them both, first babies!

Right, off to watch Big Brother

Thanks ladies. Feel much better now though am a tad worried about leaking everywhere. Am going to take lots of pads and try and fit my expressing machine in my bag!? I have one which can have batteries in it so will try that. I am feeling a tad stressed today!

On the subject of kids and weddings I agree with you all. The only thing I'd say is that the couple don't have kids themselves. But yeah, that shouldn't matter. I am - especially as dp has just called to say it is in a lovely place and food was great! He is on way home anyway - he misses us.

pina - some do it very early. My DS1 rolled f-b at about 3 weeks old and always rolled onto his front to sleep face-down in complete disregard of the SIDS advice. It was somewhat worrying at the time.

Meanwhile, DS2s mouth & my nipple thrush not clearing up very well. Milk supply dwindling. Will see GP this week but there is some hard work ahead to improve b/f. And it's the last week of pre-school and I'm going to be horribly busy with events - I'm the Chair and have tons to do.

luckymummy74 · 06/07/2008 10:07

duchess sorry to hear about the thrush bother. DD1 had it and it took ages to clear up, DD2 got it too (I had to have AB's immed after each birth). It cleared up quicker as it was diagnosed earlier so yours is probably taking a while cos it wasn't diagnosed for ages. Can you express to keep your supply up?

Pina welcome back!! Can't believe you had 13 pages to catch up on, that's why I do my best to come on MN everyday, I find it easier to keep up. Sorry to hear DD1 is playing up. We are having similar problems. Sorry to hear about your Aunty too. I lost one of my two Aunties last October. Yesterday we went to my Uncle's for a big family garden party (He lives in a huge house with a huge garden and we have a family get together every year) and it was the first time since my Aunty died, it was very sad her not being there. My Uncle cooked the most amazing food for us all, my Aunty was a great cook and she taught him how to do it all in the months before she died. Feel a bit teary just thinking about it . Anyway, I hope you are OK luvvie (((hugs)))

Today is our 6th wedding anniversary! We are going to go out for lunch, with the girls, and show DD1 our wedding video later.

As I said, DD1 is being a bit of a monkey at the moment. I can't work out if it's that she's rebelling against potty training, cos she's got wind of the fact that we mean business, or if she's not well. I know with some things like chicken pox and slapped cheek they feel unwell for 2-3 weeks before any physical symptoms. She is being really crap with her food too, not really eating even her most favourite foods. She even refused a biscuit yesterday!!! I'm trying hard not to let it bother me but I can't help thinking that she could be whingy cos she hasn't been eating properly so she's low in energy, IYSWIM (like we all can get ratty when we are hungry). She has been crying/whinging all the time, she balled her eyes out this morning just cos I wanted to brush her hair . I am still planning to go ahead with pants and not nappies tomorrow but have a feeling there's gonna be lots of tears (hers and mine!). There have been no wee wees in the potty since Thursday .

Yesterday at my Uncle's, I decided it would be a good idea to go on the trampoline.....thinking that my pelvic floor was quite good....then I actually wet myself, bit more than a dribble but thankfully not enough to have to change my clothes !!!

DD2 was really unsettled all day yesterday at Uncle's house too. There were lots of people there. I kept putting her down in her carrycot to sleep and even telling people that she always cries herself off to sleep, but people still kept insisting on picking her up and bringing her to me..... .

Anyway, must go and have a shower.....enjoy your Sundays.

dd1 wants faces again!

mumofkandj · 06/07/2008 10:53

Sorry, not allowed to read any but at least shetold me to put mumsnet on, a step in the right direction!
Now she wants a blue face with red cheeks. Not happy with menot being able to do it .
Happy SUnday morning! Oh, better just say ( hope its not tempting fate)but DH seems to be doing better with coping and having fun. K is still waking 5.30-6 am- this morning it was singing the hokey cokey at top volume, but DH lets me stay in bed with J until 7.30, bliss.
We've just been out puddle jumping and getting told I have to go now, hugs all,V*

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 06/07/2008 11:47

Hello mumofk's DD

arf @ lm74s trampoline incident - I haven't tested mine yet. Shall I????

I am expressing, exclusively infact, about 8 times a day including one at night but the supply has really dropped this week. I've also been 'cluster pumping' for the past 3 evenings and it's not made any difference so far. I'm eating well and resting as much as I can. I may ask the GP about a prescriptive-milk-booster as otherwise I'm going to have to start giving formula as we've almost used up the supply of frozen EBM as well.

I'm so pissed off that I've written to the b/f counsellor to complain, surely thrush is something they should routinely suspect?

Enough of moaning, hope you're all enjoying a nice relaxing Sunday.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 06/07/2008 11:48

That last post was mostly answering lm74 btw!

KangaAndRoo · 06/07/2008 12:02

awwww nice to see you back Pina !! so sorry to hear about 'stuff' happening with dh (you always look sooo happy...as in sickeningly happy LOL in a nice way ) so sorry about your recent loss too!

Dont worry about not being in touch chicken...you've had a lot going on....whats my excuse?? I do however keep up to date with your photos!! pmsl @ you and dh's self taken photos in the car!! LOL

Well he's doing really well on the hungry baby milk...he is actually taking more than the normal milk ? confused!! so he still sometimes has every 3 hours but he can last for 4 hours and he doesnt cry anymore when he's due...which was a nighmare if dd was asleep. So he takes 7oz now!!

Sleeping is still hit and miss....can still wake up bang on 3 hours but the other night in a sleeping bag...he slept 11.30pm til 6.16am so now need a lighter tog sleeping bag.

and it was my dds party yesterday...you'd think he'd been running round..he slept 5.30pm til 11.15pm!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow at the rolling babies!!!!!

Happy anniversary LM its our 5th soon.

hope everyone is well x

magicfairy · 06/07/2008 13:21

duchess - have you tried tiger milk, i swear its grwat for boosting milk supply, i can give you reciepe if you like

well i think ds2 has got his nights and days mixed up! he has started sleeping really well in the daytime, then having a really awake peroid in the evening, from 6 - 9ish, then in the night, usually between 2-4 he decides to be very awake again. arrrggghhh! We co-sleep but hes not settling after a feed and starts gettibg really fussy if i try to feed him, and just wants to be awake.

Are all the babies doing well through the night? ds2 will feed every half hour sometimes and the longest his has gone is 3 hours.

anyway must go now, this 1 handed typing is driving me mad!

baiyu · 06/07/2008 17:55

Hi all,

I have been reading the posts but haven't got around to posting between the feeds. Hope all is well.

We got our first smile today!!! Emily is exactly 6 weeks so we feel great.

Baiu Would you mind if I ring. I think you are in Belfst if I remember rightly. I will be returning to Ireland (Dundalk area) later this year and it will be nice to meet someone.

Cheers,

NS XXXX

Mitchell81 · 07/07/2008 11:56

Ns- good to see you. Baiyu is in Edinburgh, not sure who was in Ireland. Hope you are ok.

luckymummy74 · 07/07/2008 11:56

YCBS Hope Harry finally nodded off?!!

Sorry to bore anyone not potty training, but things are going better than I thought they would....

No nappies today, no knickers either, just naked botty (v cute!!). Did one wee on kitchen floor, then 2 in the potty, then half a poo on the potty and half in the potty (she was a bit scared and didn't quite make it in time...bless her). We have a star chart (stars for wees and special smiley face sticker for a poo!!!).
CM has just rung to say that she thinks it might be better if DD1 stays at home this week while getting to grips with potty. I agree with her, as she has to do school run etc, but I'm a bit miffed as DH has a night shift tomorrow so he will have to be asleep for half the day both tomorrow and weds (that's when she was gonna go to CM ). Bit apprehensive about having to cope with potty and DD2 who might be feeding or whatever........

Right, I'm sure I'll be on again later as I will be spending all bloomin week indoors!!!
(Excpet Friday when I have my lunch date with YCBS & casserole!!!)

luckymummy74 · 07/07/2008 11:57

That was meant to say half a poo on kitchen floor and half in potty !!!

Mitchell81 · 07/07/2008 12:02

For k

LM: how is today going?

MF: sorry about having nights and days mixed up, Couldn't add anymore than what Pina has said
