yes I thought Ch had been solid during the day from very early on....

I take H to the loo when I go to bed usually, for a wee. The only times I don't do this is if I go to bed really early, or I am so tired I can't be bothered. If I do do it, it stops him waking up really early for a wee - or that's the theroy anyway, they#ve both been getting up at 5.15ish this week, total nightmare it's killing me.

Most nights I'd say though he goes right through till ng no worries. We've been lucky with him on that front - wonder what T will be like....although he has just done a wee on the potty!

Ay up Bloss-clever Tobes. Holding off training Soph for a while. Tried with Em too soon for her and it caused me stress. Not going to be stressed this time.

spin-Soph's spots are scabbing over now and she is fine with it. Didn't go to WW in the end It was lovely and sunny and when I got to mum and dad's, dad had got the Bar B Q out so caved in and made an excuse about Sophie being poorly. I will go next week!

There was a letter in Em's school bag written by a mum on behalf of her DD asking Em to come to tea and to ring the mum. Well, I did and it sounded like she didn't really want to be bothered but her DD had nagged her and she had given in. We have arranged for a week on Weds. When I asked about dropping Em at the house she told me to leave her at the bus stop and she will collect her along with her DD. Or I could drop her at the house. Then I said I had seen the mum in the playground and she said she 'haven't a clue who you are'. I really feel uneasy about the whole thing. The mum is a foster carer and has taken my tel no incase something comes up. Am hoping she either cancels or Em gets chicken pox. I want to make sure Em is safe and I would need to collect her from the house later-or maybe she might be dumped at the bus stop again. Perhaps it is just me taking things the wrong was as per usual.

The weather is windy and cloudy today-not quite the hot and sunny day forecast.

Hope you are all OK. Still waiting for my parcels that should have been delivered yesterday.

Love to all

HC if you are at all uneasy i'm sure you could use the possibility of the pox to cry off? you must be 100% happy about play dates etc! how old is em i forget.

well our carpenter and our polish builder / plaster / carpenter / electrician / does everything really fast and well chap are getting on well today - I may even have a day this week with no laborourers in! that said we have very yummy plumber coming tomorrow - recommended by my friend who said "he's worth paying just to watch him unload pipes and stuff" ...

must go sam yelling for a feed -the little fattie is 11lb10 now! 75th centile - what a difference to jacob eh!

HC I know Em is older than Harry but....leaving at a bus stop? I don't think so. And I know what you mean about the Mum's having a "tood" - phoned a mum today to RSVP to a birthday party invite, as requested on the invite, and she was like, "Oh! Ok! Yeah. Fine. Bye" Well how did she think I was going to RSVP to a telephone number, morse bloody code? Some people have no social skills at all, how do they function?

HumphreysCorner · 10/06/2008 22:04

Yes, Em is 5 on the 19th July. Perhaps it's me with the problem-expecting everyone to be 'efficient' like me.

HC i think some people are just hopeless although i do think that sometimes i expect too much - please tell me that doesn't just sound totally patronising!

well, poor jacob had a really rough night last night - he's got a terrible head cold (first one for ages) and streaming nose all day. basically he wanted to sleep at 5pm which istopped - got through till 715 (45 mins earlier than normal which for him is a miracle!) and then he just crashed out. kept waking up from 930 till 1030 every few mins wailing and needing a cuddle, so at 1030 he came in with us and was very happy. sam also had a temp but i reckon from his jabs yesterday - bit of an on off night with him - i ended up on the sofa with him from about 1am so he didn't wake jacob up with his noisy sleeping!

and yesterday he ate the sum total of 2 bananas, 2 chipolatas and a few oatcakes - o'h and 3 boxes of raisins! he just finds them....

countdown to holiday and it's so much easier when the sun is out!

thefortbuilder · 11/06/2008 11:34

question for you ladies!

planning jacob's birthday party - a number of his friends have either older (couple of years) or younger (only just born, like samuel) siblings. I guess all the siblings will be on the invites as we're having his party on a saturday, but should I bother doing party bags for the very small ones?

lorisparkle · 11/06/2008 11:44

Sorry to jump in on the thread. My DS1 was born July 2006 and I am a bit concerned about his speech. He says loads of single words but no little sentences. Just wondering what other children of this age are doing.

BTW I did not do party bags for the tiny ones for DS1 first birthday.

hi lori - was your ds full term / prem / over? only that jacob was 8 weeks prem and although we have always noticed he's with his peers on everything, the gp's / paeds have said it may be speech that he is a little slower on.

he is now putting 2 words together - go away, our car, up high being the main ones! only started this very recently though (apart from go away strangely enough!). have noticed that he chats away to himself in sentneces although i can't understand him. does your ds babble away like that?

i'm also led to believe that it's comprehension that is more important at this age - can he follow simple instructions, does he understand quickly for instance? it may be that he is taking it all in and then it'll all come out in a flood in one go. and also apparently ds's are later with constructed speech than dd's.

can you tell i put a thread on here about ds's speech?????

hth

spin - hope you're all ok there. Jacob is much better today already - a bit wingey but his usual bouncy self in all other respects! eating bugger all though - half a banana for breakfast and half a slice of cheese o ntoast for lunch. although raisins and oat

lorisparkle · 11/06/2008 14:21

He was full term. His comprehension seems quite good (although his behaviour is a different matter) HV is doing a check on him soon so we will see.

HumphreysCorner · 11/06/2008 16:58

Hi lorisparkle

Sophie has her 2 year checkup tomorrow and she is only saying 2 word babble sentences. I understand what she says anyway.

flick-not long now until your well deserved hols. Hope Jacob has a better night and day.

spin-you can't have much more to lose at WW hence the sticking. Well done!

I only invite family to the girls' B'Day Bar B Q at the moment so no need for party bags. Don't think I would bother with siblings bags when I do invite other children.

Feel really tired and losing the will to live watching Em and Sophie eat their tea. Better go and supervise.

forgot (i think) to say that jacob had his 2 yr check and the doc was pleased with his progress - apparently all is as it should be!

just been to elc to get stuff for the party bags as they have lots of offers on at the moment! and got the thomas paddling pool thing that dh is insistent that we get!

also being really sad and stocking up on gifts for the boys for christmas etc (books are on 3 for 2 at the moment in there)

TheGoddessBlossom · 11/06/2008 19:10

Flick I see things I want to buy for the boys birthdays etc but refrain as a) would get sick of looking at them for months, and b) would forget I had bought them and buy a load of other stuff!

I started a thread about food bills on a monthly basis, don't know if you saw it - desparately trying to keep to £400 a month, but looks like will be more like £450 this month. I spend too much money and I resent that it all seems to be at the supermarket!

Picked the boys up today, after a very dossy day, two visits from friends, 1.5 hours ironing, hung a load of washing out, a swim, a food shop, and this is a work day, and T was in the foulest mood, whingeing and screaming and crying for England! His bottom is rotten so I am thinking teeth. Have given him some Medised, first time for ages, and they are both sitting in front of Fifi. Trying to keep them up past 7pm instead of their usual 6.30pm bed time as I am so sick of getting up at 5.17am. Grrrr...

Out to dinner with girlfriends tomorrow night so that should be good fun, getting a lift so can see some vinos being consumed.

Hi Lori, Toby can say about 3 word sentences I guess. "It's finished Mummy/All gone now?rabbit in there/pardon me mummy/ thankyou mummy" Nothin much longer than that...

I really am so proud of them at the moment. I know they give me gyp at home, par for the course being a mum I guess but it's just little things that make me glow with pride - T is the first one using the potty in his room at nursery - by no means all the time but if you sit him on it he does something and they are doing it at nursery too after I said we were doing it at home - both ALWAYS put their hands up when they cough - both always say pardon me when they burp - both always say please and thankyou. Remind me of this smigness in 10 years when not only are they slashing on the carpet a la Spin's prophecy but they don't give me the time of day and manners are a thing of the past.....

Remember I did that Daily Mirror shoot of the trainers that cure cellutite? Sold the blighters for £92 on ebay yesterday.... RESULT!!

TheGoddessBlossom · 11/06/2008 19:12

smigness? More wine landlord...

HumphreysCorner · 11/06/2008 19:45

Bloss-excellent Ebay result. Yay! DH orders me to spend no more than £60 per week-he will fall over with shock when I tell him I spent £83 today. Did stock up on loo rolls, cereal and teabags, oh and wash powder and Comfort. Ho hum. Have a brill night out!

flick-it is about now that I start buying things for Christmas as I know that nearer the time that ideal gift will not be available.

Evening all!

I have tried to catch up but the longer you leave it, the harder it seems to get going!

Lori - Josh's speech is not good either - he has been saying single words for a while but most of them are unintelligible to anyone other than me and DH. He has just started putting 2 words together in the last month or so (things like more cheese, top off, Josh teeth) and last week he actually came out with a 3-word sentence (Adam in there - we had just arrived at nursery and he pointed and said it) - I nearly fainted with the shock Anyway, I think your DS sounds fairly normal (although I am trying to ignore an article that I read over the weekend that said that most children, by the time they turn 2, should be putting 5 words together - is it just me or does that seem far too overambitious??)

Flick - I am doing party bags for Josh's party as he always gets one when he goes to others so I feel I should really. Am struggling to find small gifts to go in them though so if anyone knows of anywhere or any websites with good stuff, would love to know about it).

Right, I promise I read everyone's posts but just finding hard at the moment to post replies back!

If you are interested, I have posted a photo of my 'bump' on my profile - quite a few 'kind' people have commented it is quite big which makes me feel great as you can imagine!!

Right, must go and sort some stuff out before the Apprentice starts.

HumphreysCorner · 12/06/2008 10:19
