Hi Ladies, it said we needed a new thread

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SKYTVADDICT · 15/05/2008 11:08

I know PJ - sometimes I want to ask a question or put an opinion on a thread and just don't bother as someone always has the opposite idea! There is always someone about with an opinion!

twelveyeargap · 15/05/2008 11:09

Oh great, thanks. Will ask the buyer if they want to use that instead once the auction is over.

It's not unheard of for school appeals to go the way the parents want. I'll keep everything crossed for you. Have you written out all your arguments clearly and concisely so you know what to say?

This is the Zoom Tandem Was all set for the Twin Club, but the shop said the Zoom was easier to push and better made. Both are only a little bit longer than the Mountain Buggy anyway, so shouldn't feel too much like driving a train. It's handy in some ways that the Twin Club folds with seats on, BUT if space in the boot it limited then you're a bit stuck. The Zoom chassis folds really quite small and then the seats can be stuck on the floor of the car if necessary. Plus, the Zoom can take my Maxi Cosi, whereas the Twin Club only takes the Bebe Confort car seat.

Will get an umbrella fold for the car once the boy is out of the Maxi Cosi. Though, tbh, trying to get two kids ready to go to the shops and feed them both whilst out and all that sounds like chaos, so I suspect I'll be spending less time in Brent Cross in future.

Pinkjenny · 15/05/2008 11:13

Cool pram TYG - love it!

Sky - Its not the opposing opinions that bother me, its the 'subtle' way in which they are delivered.

twelveyeargap · 15/05/2008 12:32

I don't bother my arse posting stuff on normal threads now unless I feel really strongly about something or think that someone is posting misinformation. It's not worth it.

Pinkjenny · 15/05/2008 12:41

Am thinking you've got that right TYG!

LookattheLottie · 15/05/2008 14:59

Hey everybody

TYG poor you! I can't believe you got burgled again, what a sod! Oh I hope the insurance people cough up, what a crappy thing to have happen to you......again.

PJ lol at you and your A&E dashes. Better to be safe then sorry though imho. Hope L is ok, has the rash cleared any? All I could suggest is to perhaps lay a sheet down on the living room floor and let her go naked for a bit. Get some air to her skin, when dressing her only put soft cottons on, it might mean it's not getting any more irritated. Nice cool baths, and some calomine (sp?) lotion, though don't know if it's that sort of rash.....?

LG&T what sort of appeal is it, think I've missed something?

MJ I posted on your facebook account but Happy Birthday again for yesterday.

Lups, yes I do have a luna and M&P are frickin amazing at sending you out new stuff for free lol. My luna (much as i love it) was really starting to bug me because of it's harness being crap, but the bumper bar has made so much difference. 3 Quinny's?

Hey to everybody, sorry not much time to catch up. C currently downstairs playing, I'm just waiting to hear either her starting to cry, something fall down, or something smashes as my cue to go and check her!

Have been into town earlier to order C's birthday cake from the bakers, it's going to be really lovely. Then had to go and put a deposit on the balloons, all together they're coming to over £50.00!!! I keep telling myslef that she's only one once, it's starting to wear though

Have planned her Birthday and party all, all presents have been bought and the party stuff has all been ordered. We're having a nice small, family tea for the Friday which is her Birthday. She'll open our presents and have a small cake with dinner etc. Then on Saturday we're having a big party for her with family, friends and neighbours.

I invited her dad, though I didn't have a contact for him so I had to go through some 'friends', how sad is that? He's said he's coming to them, though I've still heard nothing fro him. Wont hold my breath. He's only seen her twice, last time when she was 10 weeks. He's never given her anything, not even a card at Christmas or easter. Poor thing. Hoping he doesn't come, but thought it was the right thing to do by inviting him.

Anyway, off to give C her lunch and then take her for a walk. Hope all are well x

LookattheLottie · 15/05/2008 15:00

Oh and agree, hardly any point in ever posting on other threads, you just get torn up for arse paper when you do!

twelveyeargap · 15/05/2008 15:28

I think that's nice of you LATL, to invite Lottie's dad. If he doesn't show up, perhaps then it's time to cut the ties completely. You could even be quite cool about it and write and ask him to inform you of address changes in case Lottie ever asks after him, but that if he doesn't want to be in her life regularly, then you'll leave him out.

madeindevon2 · 15/05/2008 20:10

hi. hope some of you remember me! ive been so slack at coming on MN for quite some time.
so much has happened, made redundant (thanksfully) staying at mums at moment coz dad in hospital and gma needs care and mum cant do it all. sad for dh as freddie and i are 250 miles away and he really misses his "daddad" calls first thing in the morning.
anyway. i gotta go do dinner for mum when she gets back from hospital but will log on tomorrow and try catch up a bit with you all,
who is preggers again by the way? (no im not...only one for me)

Pebblemum · 15/05/2008 20:38

Evening

LATL At least by inviting L's sperm donor he can never turn round and say you didnt involve him in anything. I tried doing that with J's dad but in the end gave up trying, there is only so many chances you can give them. At least L is still young and wont be upset if he doesnt show and if he does in fact show up he will see what a lovely little girl she is and its all owing to you, he supplied the sperm but who she is is a result of your hard work and good mothering.

LG&T J decided hes ok with the school he was allocated so i cancelled my appeal (although hes still on the waiting list for his first choice and we've had a letter to say theres a high chance he will get in there soon) I had been told though that the majority of people who appeal and put in a good arguement for their choice are likely to win. Also they prefer parents who represent themselves as it makes the appeal more personal, no one can express themselves better than the actual parent. I hope it all goes ok for you

Alana had her annual check today, of course she passed with flying colours . The HV actually said she seems quite advanced for her age (obviously doesnt take after dh lol) She was weighed for the first time since Jan when she weighed 17.4lbs. The amount she eats I was expecting her to be around 23lbs at least so imagine how shocked when i found out she only weighs 18.3lbs. I was then expecting lots of criticism from the HV but she was really nice and after measuring her (70.5cm) said everythings fine and that Alana is just going to be a petite little girl Alana loved all the attention and spent the whole appointment showing off!

Have finally managed to book a DJ for J's party that isnt going to bankrupt me, now its just food, cake and decorations left to organise. Although hes more interested in Saturdays big match than his party at the moment lol

AprilMeadow · 15/05/2008 20:56

LATL, you have done the right thing by inviting C's dad but agree with TYG when she said that if he is a no show to then cut contacts. Do you have an address for his parents.... because perhaps you could contact them perhaps keep them informed about C's progress and your address details should they/their son wish to ever contact C..

Pebble, I got Ella weighed jsut after her birthday and she only weighed in at 19lbs 6oz. Althought we dont get the 1yr checks (cant afford the staff to run the clinics) the HV did say that they look for bubs to weigh 3x their birth weight by 1yr.

LG&T, sorry i cant offer any advice but i am sure that you will be fine and do/say whatever needs to be said to win the appeal x

Off to finish the packing as tomorrow is our last part day here. Being picked up at 4.30pm (9.30pm uk time) and then land at 8.30am Sat. Hope its not delayed as Jack as a party at 11am!! Mad...... me .......NOOOOOO

xx

SKYTVADDICT · 15/05/2008 21:11

AM- hope your flight goes ok.

When DD1 was 2.5 we flew back from Florida, landing at 8.30 in the morning in Gatwick and had to be at a christening at 2.00 pm in Lincolnshire. We made it, and were the last ones standing at the end of the christening party 2!

C not been well for a few days but not C Pox as far as we can tell. GP says a virus, he has blisters on his tongue and has been out of sorts for a few days. Been to childminder today but was beside himself with tiredness at tea time again, hence lots of screaming.

DP gone to play squash which is very lovely for him! Can you tell i'm impressed!

Going to bed very soon I think.

anneme · 15/05/2008 22:13

Good luck LG&T - the only thing I would say is to write down anything you want to say in advance so that you don't forget - sometimes, when under pressure, it can be easy to have things slip out of your mind until it is too late.

Lupins71 · 16/05/2008 07:26

LGT good luck with the appeal, hope it goes well

TYG OMG poor you, some people are real w**kers, robbing is such a horrid crime, hope your ok.

LW you go girl, good move on inviting him, at least your consience will be clear, am going to phone m&p today.

SKY hope C feels better soon

PEBBLE glad the check went well

MID helloooo and welcome back

My little man is under the weather, he slept for 4.5hrs yesterday and brought his dinner up straight after eating it, and has has a temp all night (wonder if PJ thinks I sould go to A&E [GRIN][GRIN])

Is dp's bday today, so providing my little fella doesnt get any worse I am going into plymouth while he gets another tatoo done - I am going bargain hunting, also going out to dinner tnite, its nice now mums about to have the kids we can actually go out

Have a good day all x

largeginandtonic · 16/05/2008 08:17

Appeal not till next Friday, i am a leeetle bit worried. It is to get ds#3 in to the local school for anyone hat doesnt know.

Work this morning.

Clouds still here, i want the sun back!

cameroonmama · 16/05/2008 09:36

Plenty of sun here, sending you all some

TYG, sorry to hear about all your woes, how dreadful living in London can be sometimes, saying that, in MILs sleepy village they are often hit by gangs that clear out a number of houses in one go. We obviously are at risk pretty much constantly, there was an attempt at an armed car jacking just at the end of our road last Fri, but they targeted a car which ended up being full of reserve police. A gunbattle ensued, terrifying our friends who live right beside the road, that they had to close themselves up in their strong safe room to protect themselves We too have an alarm and put it on every night, but it is so sensitive and is a nuisance cos it goes off a lot, it just takes one gekko to walk over it and that's it, screeching away. Then we have to press the security button for the men dressed as Darth Vader to come and check the grounds out... You see, that's the price you pay for year round sunshine!

Good luck with the appeal, perhaps Abby can help you LG&T with persuasive arguments? I'm sure you will do brilliantly, how could they refuse such a fabulous child

Good on you LATL for inviting Charlotte's dad, very grown up. I like Aprils idea of keeping the granparents in the loop if he himself shows little interest. Do you have any kind of relationship with them?

Happy flying April.

And hope Arlen and Callum are soon feeling better Lups.

Welcome back MID

Madamejaffa · 16/05/2008 10:13

Sorry haven't had time to catch up.....

Just wanted to say.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KIMI AND GEORGE

My baby's one....

Pinkjenny · 16/05/2008 10:15

Happy Birthday to George and Jorja!

xx

SKYTVADDICT · 16/05/2008 10:17

I'm feeling like a very bad mummy today. I had to come to work as the lady I job share with is off gallivanting! Not even holiday but delivering a bloody parcel to London that really wasn't necessary. C had been fine at childminder yesterday until nearly tea time when he wouldn't eat and just cried and flopped around. I got him home and he was still doing it but cheered up a bit when DP and the DDs came home. He had a bit of toast and his bottle at bed time and went to bed as normal but threw up in the night. So not only have I had a bad night (changing bed etc) I have sent my son to the childminder when I shouldn't have!

He did have his morning bottle and a bit of toast and seemed ok but we were nearly late though and I ended up in tears. I had to give him a bath at the last minute as DD2 said he smelled of sick. The lovely childminder said I shouldn't have rushed and she would have given him a bath. Think I've got a good one there. She is going to have both babies for £5.00 an hour when I go back to work next April.

SKYTVADDICT · 16/05/2008 10:18

Also,Happy Birthday to George, Jorja and Kimi x

madeindevon2 · 16/05/2008 11:21

3x birth weight byt 1st bday
my freddie 9lb3 at birth and only 19lb now(11months)so i can expect HV upsetting me soon then.
morning all. still in Devon helping mum with dad and grandma. Freddie bringing smile to everyones faces tho. really perks everyone up. Smiling and waving at all in the wards!

freddie had a whole oatabix and sucked a piece of wheat free toast and butter this morning aswell as his milk. so its not like hes not eating (although he has not been a great eater past few months and has had untold illnesses....he had chicken pox at 12 weeks badly and since then has had everything going!)
anyway without seeing my doc or HV (as im 250 miles away) i thought F might be intolerant to wheat (dreadful smelly very loose poo and flatulance his dad would be proud of). this is only day 2 but already hes having solid poo and not noticed the floorboards vibrating! Maybe it was wheat affecting him? will keep going for week or so and see....
hopefully go home next week (dh is missing us) dad having quite invasive tests on tuesday but if they go ok he might be allowed home. If he has to stay in then i will stay on until at least Thursday to help mum (as she works wednesday and thursdays and needs someone to look after gma)

anyone else had babies with intolerance to wheat?

madeindevon2 · 16/05/2008 11:31

hope the school appeal goes ok.
some days i worry about schools. everyone says it ssuch as while off but it isnt really is it.....how quickly this past year has gone!
Is everyone having parties for 1st bdays? i feel bad not having one. I was gonna organise one for the saturday after freddies bday but thats dh's weekend with his other kids and they wont come to ours (only 2 out of 3 of them have seen freddie.....the 14yr old boy still wont have anything to do with me or half brother) so i cant have party without DH and he cant mess them about and i cant have during week coz most family either work or live a way from us (or ill) so i suppose its no party....
actually thinking about it....sod it....lets do a party the weekend before his birthday....seems unfair on freddie. at least he doenst understand.
im dreading it when he can talk and asking where daddy is going and why he cant go too....and how come hes got a brother who doesnt want to know him.

madeindevon2 · 16/05/2008 11:38

12 yr gap
you left city didnt you when you went on maternity leave?
i always said i was going back but when i asked for flexible working they would not budge an inch ( i asked for 8-5 4 days week, then 7.30 til 5 5 days week....all refused)
they told me it was 7 til whenever 5 days a week (plus entertaining). they said a few things they shouldnt have done so i raised a grievance, got solicitor involved and it ended up they paid me 3 months in lieu of notice and gave me another 3 months tax free as redundancy and i walked away. it still pses me off tho.
i will go back to work in some capacity but not 60 hr weeks....i couldnt face leaving freddie for that long.
ive been called by a few other brokers about working for them but ive got so much going on with family at moment i just cant think about it
but maybe september octber time but only if i can work something like 8 to 5 4 days a week. (in an ideal world it would be 9 til 4 3 days a week but that just aint gonna happen.

anyway im going on too much. 3 posts now. better go and do shopping for us all. mum has taken gma to docs again.

AprilMeadow · 16/05/2008 13:26

Happy Birthday to Jorja-Mai and George. Hope you are both having a fantastic day being 1!!

TYG, forgot to say how gutted i was to hear that you had been broken into AGAIN! Hope they are caught and that the insurance company pays out for you.

MID, good to see you back with us . I wouldnt worry about the weight thing, not one little bit, if F eats well and is in good health then thats all that matters

Anyway, last day here today, off to a water park then back to sort last few bits our before heading back home. Will 'see' you all tomorrow xx
