OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
cazzybabs · 07/05/2008 21:47

yes on the other thread I am only jealous.

suey2 · 08/05/2008 09:17

sounds amazing pecka! good on you for having the energy. Ouch, the hangover, though!
Gorgeous day again down here. Am planning a long walk with some window shopping thrown in.
Has anyone sourced sunglasses for LOs? Millie was fine in a pair, but they were for 3-4 year olds.

macdoodle · 08/05/2008 09:48

Thank god Lily now taking a bottle of EBM - just finally clicked - MAM teats - am so relieved back in work in 4 weeks ...
Am also back to gym and healthy eating as have NO clothes that fit me for work...am still 2stone+ over pre preg weight wich was at least a stone over goal weight ...sunshine helps

claireybee · 08/05/2008 11:40

PMSL Pecka (no pun intended!), have completely forgotten everything else I was going to write after reading that! Am impressed you managed to shag dh the following morning though, or were you still drunk? I usually shriek at dh not to touch me, roll over, ANYTHING or I'm going to puke!

Macdoodle what flow are you using on the mam teats? I have a couple of brand new newborn ones I got when they were giving them as freebies a while ago. They are still packaged so if you want them I'll post them to you-ds doesn't like those ones!

Isn't this weather lovely? Am enjoying being able to be in the garden with dc although am very as even though she is slathered in factor 50 dd has gone a gorgeous colour (after only about 10 mns in the sun). DH thinks maybe factor 50 isn't needed with their skin but I'd rather not risk it (I think also he wants them to be darker, he has a bit of a thing about how pale they are but with the untannable woman as a mother they were never going to be dark!).

Have got ds a second hand hop and pop-he seems to like it! That and playmat are about all he'll tolerate now so have put the swing and bouncy chair away-gosh these high needs babies require so much more equipment than placid ones! Anything that means I can put him down for 10 mins is worth it in my book though!

Last night very slightly better. ds was up 3 times before 1am and demanded feeding each time, but he then slept until 4.30. I didn't though, was expecting him to wake up at any second and had also put him in bed with me so didn't have to keep getting in and out of bed and he wriggled and rolled so much that he knocked the pillow i'd put at the edge of the bed to keep him in onto the floor and had his head right on the edge of the bed-so I was scared he'd fall out but didn't dare move him much cos he'd wake up! Aaaargh!

claireybee · 08/05/2008 11:43

Amani hugs to you, you really are having a horrible time of it at the moment xx

BouncingTurtle · 08/05/2008 12:54

I've got DS's Christening out fit, it is this one here
Needless to say I didn't pay £80 for it... I paid £25 including post and packing on Ebay, been worn once but it just arrived today and it doesn't look like it has been worn at all, it is utterly immaculate! Am really pleased!

macdoodle · 08/05/2008 12:55

thanks Clairey afraid am using the no2 (medium) teats , the newborns didn't work...I must have a 100 teats here in fact took some unopened ones back to mothercare and they happily refunded them

skidaddle · 08/05/2008 16:32

hi everyone

DH is away this weekend so have 2 DCs all to myself for the first time, eeek. I'm sure it will be fine, just not sure how on earth to bath them both and put them to bed without any tantrums/crying

bouncing - the outfit is lovely - when is the christening?

pecka - OMG I am so impressed at your stamina - i could not even contemplate doing that and surviving the next day

clairey - DS's night sounds very familiar now I am back in the bad sleeping gang again! Is your DS definitely hungry when he wakes? I have been thinking about it today and my DS only feeds for about 5-10 minutes at most and is then fast asleep so maybe it is comfort he is after? Think I will just bring him into bed with me until DH is back - I'll be needing all the sleep I can get..
btw what is a pop and hop? Sounds fun

suey - no I just use a sunhat for DS - don't glasses just fall off them al the time?

cazzy - did you manage to express all your DD's feeds when you went back at 3 months? How did you find it?

Right wish me luck, 3 nights and 2 children. I know, I know I am such a wimp when lots of you do it every night or at least have done it for a lot longer than 3 days

Amani · 08/05/2008 16:42

Afternoon ladies,

Am having a much better day today - slept 6 hrs (in broken bits) but that is such an improvement to having a baby crying half the night, the sun is shining, listening to some classic Mariah Carey) and my family are heading here from down South to give some support, and it is looking like there might be some light at the end of this tunnel.

Skid - seems like ages since I last saw from you! Hope you and the family are ok. Am sure you will cope brilliantly this weekend.

BT - well done on the EBay bargin.

Clairy - sorry if I sound a bit think - but what is a hop and pop?

Mcdoddle - good luck with the weight loss - have been comfort eating big time aswell, and have put on a stone in the last month

Pecka - you deserve a good night out - lol at the wee though...

I've just realised that even though I go back to work pt in a few month - I have to pay £200 to put both DDs in nursery a week!

BouncingTurtle · 08/05/2008 17:09

Hi Amani, glad you are having a better day today, hope it continues. Hopefully your family will help ease the strain a bit.

Skid - he's getting Christened on 22nd June, at St Nic's in The Marketplace, Durham.

Just bought some baby sunscreen from Asda, £5 for 2 100ml tubes as it is on offer atm, which is handy - can keep one in the change bag and the other in the house.

claireybee · 08/05/2008 17:28

hop and pop
Another of those things that i thought was a waste of money until I had ds and turned to trying anything in desperation!

Skid I don't think he can be hungry every time so I usually try to settle him other ways first (eg dummy, cuddle, rocking)but if the crying escalates I'll just feed him, it's not worth stressing over to me. He only feeds 5-10 minutes max anyway (day or night and is usually 3 mins or so in day)so for him that is a full feed. Tried getting him to take both sides at first night waking but it had no effect other than he puked and seemeed quite uncomfortable for the rest of the night...

kelbel · 08/05/2008 22:51

hi everyone, laptop out of action so not getting on much. for those who have started solids how much are your lo's having?

fifisworld · 09/05/2008 07:43

Morning everyone

Amani - Sorry you've been having a hard time, glad to hear things are picking up for you

Pecka - Your night out sounds great, apart from the weeing

Kelbel - Ethans been on solids for about 3 weeks now, he seems to eat loads. I started him with weetabix mixed with his milk and thought he would only have a few spoonfuls but he ate a full weetabix. DP bought him some jars of food the other day coz he was supposed to be staying out tomorrow night, and he eats a full one and then has some milk on top for bed

Hi to eceryone else. Im off out this morning to town, just having a day with ds1 as dp's off work so he will have Ethan. I need a few bits for my night out tomorrow, im so excited

Also i am taking my bridesmaids to try on the dresses ive seen for them tomorrow so that should be good!!

claraquitetirednow · 09/05/2008 14:18

Oooh FiFi are you getting married (apologies if I've missed that announcement!)

hi kelbel - dd2 had half a banana for breakfast; a small pot of butternut squash puree and then a bit more squash mixed with apple puree for lunch and will probably have either a few teaspoons of baby rice or more squash (I made a lot of it yesterday!) for tea. We've only just introduced an evening meal to bridge the gap between a bottle at about 3pm and the evening bottle.

I shouldn't have been smug about dd2's sleep the other day as she woke about three times last night until dh slept in the spare bed with her (I had been up since 5am with her so was knackered) - but she has got a stinker of a cold so I guess that's why

We're off to Centre Parcs next week so hoping she'll be better by then....

BouncingTurtle · 09/05/2008 16:57

Ds has a pretty good night, went to bed at 7.30, woke up at 1am then at 4.30. Wouldn't go back to sleep at 5am though so took him downstairs and he fell asleep in the bouncy chair

Got him weighed today, he has only gained an oz since his last weighing 2 weeks ago, he gained 15oz in the last fortnight!

fifisworld · 09/05/2008 18:07

clara - Yeah, not until next year though..but i want everything picked and sorted..ive already got my dress sorted

claraquitetirednow · 10/05/2008 20:56

Oooh quiet on here again.

We've just had our first tooth through. Co-incided with the most appalling cold and constipation, the last few nights have been fun.

Not.

claireybee · 10/05/2008 21:02

Clara dd always gets a cold with teeth too, she gets a runny bum though rather than constipation.

BT we had a better night last night, sounds quite similar, woke at 12, 3, 5.30 and 7.30. After he woke at 3 I lay awake for ages though cos felt like I'd had loads of sleep (well I suppose I had in comparison to the last few months!)

It's so humid here, had a storm last night but it wasn't enough to clear the weather. Not complaining though, i do far better with heat than cold and it is so lovely being able to be outside in garden!

claraquitetirednow · 10/05/2008 21:04

Hi Clairey = I'm glad it's not just me who has noticed that colds or other illnesses always seem to come with teething, I am sure their immunities are lowered orsomething....

I am a little fed up with the humidity. What we need is a good big thunderstorm!

claireybee · 10/05/2008 21:15

How is the weather in Pakistan? Always thought of it as quite a humid place but don't actually know! Botswana is dry dry dry! Remember when I first went my nostrils hurt where the air was so dry but it does make the heat easier to deal with

claraquitetirednow · 10/05/2008 21:20

Yes dry heat is so much easier! Islamabad is quite far north so it will have some "seasons" - apparently it gets down to about 15 degrees in the winter and possibly even freezing at night; this time of the year though it will be about 40 degrees and when we arrive it will be the monsoon!! I think we will be making full use of the air conditioning at the beginning....

Have you made any plans to take the dc's to Botswana yet?

claireybee · 10/05/2008 21:23

Yep, we're off in october! Eek! SIL is getting married so we're going for that. Unfortunately it coincides with October half term so is costing us stupid money

Ambi · 10/05/2008 23:25

Hiya all, not been on for ages, but not much to report here, but felt like I had to put something in. DD is on a bit of solids, the odd bit of baby rice and apple puree which she does really well. She's taken to waking at 6am now which I assumes coincides with the dawn, it's pretty tiring, but then I remember all the babies who don't sleep and then feel guilty.
Have loved the weather, but felt awful when LO caught the sun on Weds, so marched down the chemist and got screwed on some 50+ factor cream at £10. Although It's been lovely sitting in the garden on the grass with her next to me in the shade.
I now go regularly to baby group which is nice for her to play with different toys and watch the other babies, were gonna go to the mother and baby cinema this week and hopefully to baby massage too. I'm trying to take advantage of all the groups from nearby, and I'm pretty lucky that I've got two towns and PCTs to take advantage of. Hope you all have a good weekend.
Fifi - yo

Ambi · 10/05/2008 23:28

oooops,
fifi, your boys are so cute - but the pup is gorge too. I grew up with boxers as family pets.
Clara, that's good for the tooth - though not for you or LO. DD shows no signs yet, so think it'll be all over for you before some even start.

buzzybee · 10/05/2008 23:34

Hello all not been on much recently.
This teething malarky is not much fun is it?!
LOL Pecka - don't envy you the hangover tho!
Amani, I really hope you get the support you need and DD improves soon.
Funny to hear you guys talking about summer now just as winter sets in here...been a yucky weekend.
Today is Mothers Day here in NZ and to celebrate I am meeting up with a couple of MN mums!! Just as well otherwise I'd be feeling a bit down I think - DD1 is with her Dad this weekend and what's more he's been a complete shit recently...anyway enough of that.
I haven't tried her on any more solids recently - her hunger has dropped off dramatically with the teething - sometimes hard to get her to take a bottle every 6 hours. I did try some puree sweetcorn tho and she ate a bit.
Have just ordered a couple of dribble-buster bibs as her tops are getting soaked.
