Hello ladies, will you join me here?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
claireybee · 25/04/2008 16:22

Thanks! You're a tidy person aren't you? What housework etc do you do daily? I can never seem to keep up (I also spend too much time on mumsnet-eg hoover upstairs, come on mumsnet as a reward, hoover downstairs, come back on, do the washing up, come back on etc!)

Amani · 25/04/2008 16:22

Thought I would share with you two very funny things DD1 said to me today...

'Mummy let's go to Asda and buy a doggy'

and a few days ago while I was talking to the GP about DD2 ear infection...

she sniffs the cental heating and said...'Mummy the central heating smells very very nice'.... was so hard to keep a straight face at that point..

Amani · 25/04/2008 16:29

Clairy - not blowing my own trumpet but having a messy house drives me mad!!! I always clean and sweep the kitchen after breakfast, lunch, dinner, clean the bathroom (i.e the sinks, mop the floor, toilet, bath), laundry, vacum the rugs/staircase (it's carpeted and we have laminate everywhere else so a quick sweep on the wooden floors where dirty), tidy and make the bedrooms, tidy the living room (DD1 main playarea) at the end of each day and if time then lots of other little things like polishing mirrors etc. I sound a bit sad but it doesn't take that long as by doing it everyday doesn't amount to a huge mess as opposed to if I was to leave things for a couple of days. Then every other day - things like dusting etc.

Oh but I NEVER iron....just whip it out of the cupboard and give it a once over if needed.

claireybee · 25/04/2008 16:38

Eek! It does sound a lot but I'll try to follow your example cos my house is driving me mad!

2nd question: (open to anyone) what do you do with post etc that needs following up while you wait to deal with it? Eg our tax credits thingy needs amending so at the moment that and all the related bits of paper (dh wage slips etc) are just in a heap on the side until I get a chsnce to deal with it properly. Do you have a 'place' for things like that? Please don't say you are really organised and deal with everything as soon as it comes in cos that is never goung to happen here!

MamaMaiasaura · 25/04/2008 22:51

think lo has hit the 4 months growth spurt! He was feeding every 2 hours from midnight on Tuesday. Has now settled down to spaced out feeds again and wasnt to bad last night. My boobs were like rocks in the end though having made so much for him that he gulped it down . Think he might also be cutting bottom tooth (feel a little lump) and can see the white lines. Might take ages to break through properly. Was weighed on thursday (17 weeks) was 16lb13oz so still gaining weight fantastically.

Was lent the BLW dvd from breastfeeding group today and it is fab - by gill rapley. Def going that route now. Dp has watched it as did my friend who has a 9 month old. She is going ot try blw with her next one. Seems to make so much sense.

Been busy sorting solicitors, having the survey on our house done, finding removal men and packing!! Looks like it is all def going to happen Going to be living in National Park!

Amanai - loved your kids comments. My ds said if half term is a week long then are terms 2 weeks long? lol

buzzybee · 26/04/2008 07:44

Really??!! I didn't realise she was the first! There was I thinking she was always going to be trailing rather than leading given she was born 30 Dec!

Have added another photo to celebrate 4 months. Will try and get a photo with the tooth!!

We've had a growth spurt here too I think. Have started her on carrots which she seems to quite like

claraquitetirednow · 26/04/2008 11:19

This is one of my best friends news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30100-1313867,00.html - if ever I am having a bad day with my two (her 2nd son and my dd1 are two weeks apart in age and her 3rd son and my dd2 are 10 days apart in age) I think of her! She is Supermum!

BouncingTurtle · 26/04/2008 14:16

Wow, I read that article and was really moved by it, what an incredibly strong and compassionate woman she is.
I've been reading No Cry Sleep Solution, interesting reading. DS is still waking up 3-4 times between 7pm and 7am, and I'm still having a battle trying to get him to nap properly, so I'm going to give it a bash.

mememummy · 26/04/2008 18:27

hiya people, i havent been on for a while, my dd is 19 weeks now and weighs 17lb 6, shes sleeping throuh and has about 3 good naps per day, also on three meals, shes a fntastic baby. however ive been diagnosed with pnd has any1 dealt wiv it before, dh doesnt understand, had a moment earlier i ask mil to watch lo, but she sponed her on on dh sister,i was fuming so rang dh to sort it he's gone mad that i wont let her look after lo and thinks i have somenthin aainst his family, sry for the rant!!!

BouncingTurtle · 26/04/2008 18:36

Hey meme, glad to hear from you, we were quite worried when you disappeared!
There is a couple of people here who have pnd, or have had it in the past, who will be alomg at some point.
Just keep sharing with us here, it will help!

mememummy · 26/04/2008 18:44

thanks lol i think i possibly hav to much support at home, i just think go awy and let me be a mum, or take her u wil do it better, todays a good day, i started self settling yest and it worked straight away!!!! shes blowing raspberries to now lol argh, has any1 else got a really hungry baby, my dd is on 3 meals a day with puddings!!!

BouncingTurtle · 26/04/2008 20:07

I think there is a few who have just started weaning, I haven't as yet. I guess your dd has a healthy appetite! What's her favourite foods?

Caz10 · 26/04/2008 20:33

Hiya all!

mememummy nice to see you back, and wow! 17lbs!! Your dd is obviously doing well, and fab sleeping too well done! As BT said there are a couple of people on here who have/had PND and will be able to help you out better, but FWIW I think we all have bad times, it's not easy this baby lark! But it sounds like you are doing a wonderful job. Interfering in-laws....hmm yes know where you are coming from with that one...

clairey how was your nappy party? That sounds fab! I promised myself I'd move to washables at 6mths...hmmm...I am such a lazy moo I don't know if it's going to happen. What kind do you prefer?

awen that DVD is good isn't it? DH was horrified though, he is a bit of a neat freak and isn't coping well with the thought of spaghetti on the wall etc hee hee! It does seem to make a lot of sense though doesn't it? And crucially (for me!) it seems quite easy! No extra cooking etc required! Gearing myself up for comments on it from everyone though, people are already asking if I am "still" bf-ing, grrr...my mum's jaw just dropped when I said WHO recommends to 2yrs ho ho.

buzzy congrats on the tooth! We had a few terrible nights and dd's 2 front teeth have moved up to just at the surface, tiny dots poking through, but still not cut through properly. So I am bracing myself for the next onslaught when they come through properly.

Ashton and Parsons were the powders I used, they definitely soothed her, would highly recommend!

BT I have been reading that book too, it is good isn't it? The main thing I have been trying is not to let her fall asleep feeding, but tbh it's easier said than done, esp with her "last" feed, as she feeds away, I read or go on MN, then look down and realise she's conked out, d'oh!

re sleep - we are still not getting any! BUT - dd just wakes to feed, every 3hrs almost to the minute, goes straight back down again...so really I am thinking that that is ok? Well, obviously it's not ok as I am bloody knackered, but she is not waking for no reason, and she goes straight back to sleep...what do you think? I am just thinking that at the mo she is still titchy and just needing the night feeds - what does anyone think?

self settling - we are getting better - i think i was getting too impatient, am slowly realising that it does take DD quite a long while to get over, as opposed to in the pram when it's instantaneous! (sp?!). I am also getting better at "reading" her I think - she gets a bit hyper and whiney, starts thrashing around and twisting her back a bit, looking to the side...i was picking her up then thinking there was no hope cos she looked so "awake" but in actual fact that is just her final thrash about before going to sleep.

amani can you come and live with me please?!!! I am so in awe of your cleaning! I live in a tiny shoebox of a house too, it shouldn't be hard but I never seem to get to it. Do you have a routine? in terms of WHEN you do it etc?

on a similar note, clairey i am waiting anxiously for someone to answer re the heap of "to do" paperwork! Mine sits in a heap next to the PC, it looks awful, but anytime I have tidied it away I have forgotten to do the things in the pile, and missed bills etc. Even if they were in a nice tray or something I would probably still forget.

pecka I came across your thread re the Dream Mover, bouncers etc while I was trying to read up on door bouncers, did you ever find a solution? Re the breastpump I am just waiting for a plug adaptor that I ordered from amazon, the collection kits have arrived, so I am almost ready to go! can;t thank you enough!

Caz10 · 26/04/2008 20:35

Oh suey, how is work? I know what you mean re wanting to get stuck in and do things properly! I have some paperwork from work that I need to complete and haven't been able to sit down to it for more than 5 mins at a time, it gets so frustrating. I'm hoping that really getting stuck in and working hard when I go back will help me not miss DD so much!

Caz10 · 26/04/2008 20:36

mememummy we haven't started solids yet either, but I think wisszka has?

Caz10 · 26/04/2008 20:37

hee hee does anyone else have a Tomy baby monitor? They are soooo sensitive - I have mine up full and just went through as it sounded like dd was really thrashing about loudly - it was just her snoring, amplified at volume 7!

MamaMaiasaura · 26/04/2008 21:26

caz - know what you mean about the thrashing, lo does that at times on the breast when really tired. lol @ the clean freak dh, we are moving to a new house end of may and therefore new carpets everywhere.. lol, going to be a real mess. Know what you mean about the strange looks. I am very lucky with MIL she is really supportijve of bfing and just fab. When i am feeding she coos over him Re the sleep thing, I agree about they are only little and some babies dont go right through for a long time. Dont know if you remember the link i put up, but if baby wakes in night and feeds then they are hungry as they are getting so much more busy in the day they dont allows get their fill!

I got a tigger door bouncer, he seems to like it but i dont put him in too long.

Been thinking for names for the next one cant believe how broody i am! lol still i have to do the deed yet and been so sore down there havent mustered the courage. Must do so

suey2 · 27/04/2008 16:12

gosh awen! I don't know how you have the energy.
Bad weekend here- millie gave her flu to me- in bed most of the time this w/e. Have to go and do interviews at work tomorrow, with baby. Yuk. The candidate is coming from wales for the interview so can't cancel.

good to have you back meme- sorry you have PND. If you like you can send your SIL over here if she wants to babysit

Ambi · 27/04/2008 16:51

Awen, congrats on the new house. Before we bought this one, we were going ahead buying a new build, it's so exciting seeing it grow before your eyes and also knowing you're the first inhabitants. Granted, it turned out the builders were dicks and we ended up pulling out and getting this one which is much better, but it is exciting buying a new build.

DD has changed from content happy QUIET baby into shouty crying clingy baby, it's driving me mad and I'm worried about having her to myself next week, have asked DP to take some time off. I think it's her teething, but since weds it's like a switch has clicked in her. She's taking less milk and is inconsolable at times, and the decibel level is getting pretty high. During feeding she squirms all the time and spits it out. Thinking of weaning her soon to see if that will make a difference.

We had a night out on Friday and I'm still recovering (lightweight). I wasn't plastered, I just don't have the stamina for it anymore. Out til 2? ridiculous. Might sneak off to bed for a nap now.

BouncingTurtle · 27/04/2008 19:58

Awen - don't forget to be as thorough as possible when doing your snag list! You expect the house to be perfect! When we moved into ours 2 years ago we did have a few problems - back door wouldn't lock, creaky floorboards, doors not shutting properly, loose paving slab on the front step etc. Got them all sorted though.

insywinsyspider · 27/04/2008 21:13

hello,

no been on for agggeeesss, there just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day! only managed to read last couple of pages of posts...

caz - re self settling we follow baby whisperer shush pat for day settling, ds goes down at 7 no probs but takes some work during the day if we don't catch him right and we've just got rid of dummy (again) so that won't help

meme - I had PND last time, are you taking anything? I took AD's for 6 months, how's it going?
we're also weaning ds, just started this week (18wks) and he's so much more settled during the day, we're only on about two oz of baby rice twice a day tho, been making puree this weekend so will be rolling that out very soon

anyone else lo's rolling? ds learnt that last week and now night sleeping is out of the window, he constantly rolls onto his back and gets 'suck' if we roll him back he goes to sleep instantly but we were up 12 times last night - I'm not going to be able to function very soon, ds1 never did this, anyone have any ideas when he'll stop!?!

buzzy - wow a tooth, ds is dribbling like mad and we keep looking hopefully for a tooth but nothing yet, I think you, or rather dd, are the first x

awen - also very broody here and yes have some names in mind... we have been doing the deed and no protection hoping bfeeding will be enough for mo!

feeding - anyone had to switch formula cause it didn't agree with lo? ds sometimes has bottle of formula at night (7oz last feed) so dh can put him to bed and I can have 1:1 with ds1, he's on hipp organic but tried apitmal last night and he slept better (apart from rolling!) don't know if I should consider changing him to aptimal... I thought this parenting thing would be easier 2nd time round!
