Hello ladies, will you join me here?

OP posts:

Wizzska · 22/04/2008 19:05

Lizzer - lol about you dragging the cot. I know how you must have felt! I think we're close to moving DS out of our room now.

Clairey - Don't worry about the weight thing. I do give Rory the odd bit of formula when I'm out and about.

Skid - is that just a man thing? Lets just say I am familiar with that kind of situation.

Amani - sorry the ear thing is still a problem. I think you're great coping like you do.

Ambi · 22/04/2008 19:13

Oh Amani, you're doing great, of the lemon sponge though.

Skid - I've noticed a Skidoodle on other threads and always throws me. Is it a name change or a twin? Or maybe a mix of you and macdoodle?

Exercise-wise, well I've managed 5 mins today & yesterday on the cross trainer, which left me pretty knackered (yes I'm very unfit) but I'm hoping to up it a minute a week.

LOVING the sun, spent the afternoon in the garden reading a book whilst LO was on her mat in the shade.

Caz10 · 22/04/2008 19:17

oh goodness not at all amani - i read your post thinking wow, i don't know how she copes!! fingers crossed your LO picks up soon.

another "wee spud" here! although wee monster would be more like it at the mo. not her fault, i know, teeth are on the move, they get closer to the surface daily, and she has been really uncomfortable at nights. got some better sleep last night after using teething powders (3hr stretches instead of 1hr, still not great), so giving her more tonight for sure.

happy birthday bt!!

suey how are you feeling re back to work? i am back mid-june but in for a couple of meetings before that - dreading it completely. wish i could go PT i think that would be perfect for me. sigh...!

clara your dd2 sounds like she is growing up so fast! i am looking forward to dd being able to sit up and play with toys etc - she likes them at the mo but hand coordination is not fab yet. she can shove most things in her mouth mind you!

loucee lol at your clean house! went to JL at the wknd, baby changing etc much better there than princess sq - i even used the feeding room, not for modesty, but just because dd is so nosey and easily distracted at the mo - she had a much better feed away from the cafe.

trying to get more daytime naps done in her moses basket, but i'm finding it quite restrictive - i want to be out and about!

Caz10 · 22/04/2008 19:20

oh, well done ambi and all the other exercisers! i do diddly squat, although i do walk a fair distance with the pram each day.

someone mentioned waterbabies - macdoodle? they are fab, dd is just about to start her 2nd term.

claraquitetirednow · 22/04/2008 20:54

Good evening everyone. My DH (somewhat more laid back about health and safety issues than me, Skid, but I think I am a little neurotic!) is away for the 2nd night but tonight I have my mum here so it is a little easier.

Nightmare night again last night (well, ok, not nightmare but bad in comparison to recent nights). Is it teeth? Is it getting used to formula and a little bit of food? Is it a growth spurt? claireybee I remember you said something a few days ago about babies being unsettled at around this age and many people think it's hunger so they start weaning? is that a growth spurt thing? she was DEFINITELY hungry in the night, latched onto my arm!!!

Amani - you do sound like you are coping really well. It must be really stressful though. I say go for it with the lemon rolls if they make you feel better!

exercise - I've been doing 10 or 20 minutes of Pilates every day from a dvd that I bought. I hope it's working, I would love to get rid of my belly! I also get out for a long walk with dd2 when dd1 not around. skid Weight loss seems to be going well, thanks for asking - I think I have about 5lbs to get back to pre-pregnancy weight but would like to lose another half stone or so on top of that. Unfortunately could be difficult as likely to be doing a lot of eating out etc before we leave as well as stuffing our faces with things like pork pies and pork sausages that we won;t be able to get in Pakistan!!!

claireybee - yes dd definitely my last (unless I have an accident), but I have never been too keen on the newborn stage so not too worried about her growing up so fast - especially as she seems so desperate to grow up! I love the stage around one year when they are walking but not yet tantruming talking!! Btw, know how you feel about the snoring. We're back in the same bed again but I spend most of the night kicking him!

caz10 which teething powders did you use? I am thinking of trying this, although not even sure if teething is the problem!

lizzer - see above, I also have snoring "issues"! DD2 in her own room, but until about 2 weeks ago I was sleeping in there with her. Can't decide whether not sleeping in there helped her sleep better or not.

Hi loucee hope to see you back soon.

Hi everyone else and sorry for stupidly long post!

macdoodle · 22/04/2008 21:03

umm can' remember who asked but...baby yoga - hmmm not really my cup of tea TBH BUt it was nice to just have one on one time with Lil - usually I am busy housework, DD1, cooking, washing up, paperwork or rushing around taking DD1 somewhere or shopping - so it was nice...
It wasn't really that much yoga though some of the mums were yoga stalwarts - the teacher was very hippyish and a bit patronising - was songs and rhymes whilsy moving baby around (though Lil is soooo fat she didn't bend very well )....and a nice relaxing/meditation bit at the end - I have booked and paid till end of course (another 4 weeks) and am back to work then but can't see me doing it any longer anyone...but it was lovely to do something with my baby and the other mums were lovely!!!
Looking forward to waterbabies - me and DD1 love swimming (was gonna take Lil in pool while DD1 has her lesson but it is pretty noisy in there and she didn't like it just standing watching DD1 so we will wait)...they wouldn't let me book on the last course as she was under 12 weeks and the hydrotherapy pools (which they insist they go in under 12 weeks) were too far from me so we are waiting for next term in June

Amani · 22/04/2008 21:52

I feel a bit awful as I feel like everytime I come on I have something depressing to say, so am going to say something interesting instead....DH surprised me with the ghd straightners!! , now can finally sort out this mess that I have neglected for about 4 months , prob even longer...

MamaMaiasaura · 22/04/2008 22:04

Hil everyone, hope you are all ok. Amani - how is your dd? Hope she is improving, must have been really scarey going through that.

Not been on for a while here. Ds2 now full of cold, although ears are finally starting to get better. Saw Dr today who said that am not to worry too much as ds2 is obviously fighting lots of bugs atm and that they go through stages like this. Felt embarrassed as been to dr loads but he was really nice about it and said they really would prefer we saw dr if worried.

Been having hardly any sleep as Samuel been up in night with his cold and also been wanting extra feeds.

We are finally moving house got a brand spanking new house to go to so no stress of re-decorating or having work to do to the house Also ours is taken in PX such a relief.

Had mum and baby group and the health visitor talked to us all about weaning and gave us a good booklet. She also knew about blw and has seen it work really well, they are going to lend me a dvd of it. Felt reassured too as she was really encouraging us to wait till baby 6 months.

Samuel been a pickle as well, pulling off and crying during feeds and easily distracted. Remember similar with ds1 at the same age though.

Amani · 22/04/2008 22:07

Awen - hope DS2 get well soon. Best to hassel the Docs rather than sit at home and worry. Congrats on your new house!

MamaMaiasaura · 22/04/2008 23:03

thanks amani - how is lo? I dont think i would have gone back to drs if i hadnt read what happened to your dd2, glad i got it checked out. My lo is snuffling upstairs and strting to mewl for milk

BouncingTurtle · 23/04/2008 08:00

Hello everyone and thank you for the birthday wishes. I think I am finally recovered from the migraine! Was out all day yesterday, went to Baby Massage in the morning, which was good, though at first ds was too busy looking at his friends to pay attention to what I was doing to him! Was very tired when I got home. He had his jabs yesterday. I got very cross at the docs, I rang last Thursday to make an appointment for Tuesday, Friday morning came and I got an appointment through the post for Monday afternoon, so I rnag them to tell them I'd already made an appointment for Tuesday, so cancel the Monday appointment. Turned up at the docs to be told that I should have been there on Monday. I told them in no uncertain terms that they would be doing them today, I didn't cancel the appointment they did. When I rang up Friday I think the person who answered the phone was in such a rush to get me off the phone (she was very dismissive ) that she cancelled the wrong appointment! Got told there was an appointment at 3.30 (15mins after my original appointment) so I took that. At 4pm still hadn't been called up, and no-one else had been into see the nurse before hand. So I asked the reception what was going on, she then tried to blame the nurse for not being in her room - when I saw the nurse, she told me the reception hadn't bothered to tell her I was waiting. I'm sure she didn't it on purpose because I wasn't prepared to be moved wrt to my appointment!!
Sorry that turned out to be a bit of a rant
Anyway, ds seems fine so far, he's had the 3 jabs this time, one of the spots is a bit red this morning and he has done the Mother of all poos (all up his back AND his front )
Amani - poor you, please keep talking to us and telling us your worries we are all hear to listen
Awen - hope your ds is better soon

Waterbabies - I know a couple of people who have been taking their babies, and they rave about it. Would love to do it but it is rather expensive. Don't think we can afford it!

Nicknames - just sappy one from me and DH. DH sometimes calls him Baby Doll I call him Little Love, Little Man or Baba. Don't call him Danny Boy though! We were calling him Batman at AT coz one of our friends insisted that was what we should have called him lol

BouncingTurtle · 23/04/2008 08:00

hear=here

Wizzska · 23/04/2008 08:42

Way to go at the docs BT! You tell them!

Nicknames - to go with our addiction to horse racing, we call him Boy Pour Ustedes or just Ustedes, after the racehorse Voy Pour Ustedes.

We've just got a baby monitor. Didn't bother with one at first because our flat is so small. This means we can go into hte garden now when DS is asleep. I love it.

After DS being a pain the other day, yesterday he was like an angel from heaven. Didn't cry all day and totally showed off and flirted with my friend who came to visit who hadn't met him yet. Smiles and giggles all day. Could it be down to the 2 hour sleep I let him have in the morning?

suey2 · 23/04/2008 09:09

another snoring dh here. Millie went from her 10.30 feed until 5.40 then only needed a dummy to settle her until 7. Hurray, getting back to normal. BUT- i was driven into the spare room by DH's snoring at 1.30am. GRRRRR

Caz I am actually looking forward to getting back to work- am dreading leaving and missing her, but i want to just get on with it so that i get used to it IYKWIM. It's not like i have actually been able to leave work in the normal sense, anyway. This week i have been organising to have another room built in my practice (being done this weekend), been liaising with a company who want me to provide a massage service onsite, sifting through cvs for a vacancy i have. All between looking after baby. But then i have a cleaner so don't have to clean or iron i suppose. But it will be nice to be able to sit down and do something until it is finished, rather than in 10 minute bites.

BouncingTurtle · 23/04/2008 09:23

Oh Ds is shaping up to be a ladies' man as well!
DH took him shopping for my birthday presents on Friday, took him into one shop and he had been really grumpy, until the salesladies in this shop descended upon him and he was all smiles and giggles! They wanted to look after him while DH carried on shopping lol!

buzzybee · 23/04/2008 10:03

Hello all! Back from 3 days in Auckland. Took the DDs to the Zoo and aqaurium, all very jolly apart from having to sleep in the same room for 3 nights so have had very little sleep. DD1 was even sharing a bed with me and DD2 in portacot at foot of bed. However they both slept quite well and all in all it was quite successful!

I'm back to work from Monday Only 3 days per week but still...

Lizzer, thanks for asking. Next scan 20 May so a few weeks away yet. Here's hoping things look better for you. LOL at your cot story!

Boobs - was 36B now prob 36A sadly...but I expected this. I know from last time that they do recover slowly over a couple of years

Nicknames - chubba chops! But mostly just baby Bea or Be-Be.

She has been on a feeding frenzy today and the last couple of days. Think maybe she didn't feed so well last week due to teeth pain and is now making up for it.

Feeling slightly annoyed at my Auckland friends (who I stayed with). They ooohed and aahed over DD2 and virtually ignored DD1. Consequently she started acting up to get attention and they then started making comments about her being a "naughty little monster" etc. She's just 6 FHS - they seemed to expect her to behave like a 10 yo! They don't have any kids...

BouncingTurtle · 23/04/2008 12:33

Buzzy - I know how your dd feels, I was 5 when my twin brothers were born and I hated the way everyone fawned over them and ignored me.
Hope you made a big fuss over her Has she started her new class for big brains yet?

claraquitetirednow · 23/04/2008 13:08

Buzzy - you have made me all misty eyed (misty-eyed emoticon) over NZ as I lived in Auckland for a while back in '97, it was the time of my life. I would LOVE to go back to NZ.

Amani · 23/04/2008 16:20

BT - your DS sounds like a right cutie!
Suey2 - know the feeling about having a snoring DH. No matter how much I poke and prod him it doesn't make a difference. Sometimes I'm convinced he does it on purpose.
buzzy - sounds like you had a lovely time.

Lovely day today, feel like singing...'The hills are alive to the sound of muuuussssiiiicccccc....'

Oh, have 2 sick daughters now, DD1 woke up at 2:30am and threw up everywhere - so had to get her cleaned up, sheets changed etc and then by the time she settled doen it was five am. As soon as my head hit the pillow DD2 wakes up....no rest for the wicked...(trying not to let it get me down).....bring on the lemon sponge swiss roll stash.....

claireybee · 23/04/2008 16:24

Buzzy poor dd1, I would be fuming if I were you.

Glad those were the last jabs for a while, ds was up every hour in the night again [grr]

Got our tax credits review thing through, and realised we hadn't told them of dh's payrise last year. So we'll probably have to pay back loads of money now, silly us.
Although it wouldn't have affected our payments for the 07-08 tax year so if we're quick we'll only have been overpaid in april and they'll hopefully just adjust our future payments. They already reckon they have overpaid us but I don't know when/why-they had all our info.

Took my nappy kit to toddlers this am in the name of real nappy week. Noone even looked at them . Also had 2 breastfeeding comments "are you still feeding him?" and (in response to no he isn't sleeping through yet)"you probably need to introduce formula now to keep him going until you start solids, your milk will be tailing off now won't it". I swear they all think I'm some mad hippy with my slings, nappies and breastfeeding!

claireybee · 23/04/2008 16:26

cross post amani, hope the dd's are better soon. enjoy your cake, you deserve it!

Amani · 23/04/2008 16:31

cheers clairy - although am starting to worry about my waist line now...this comfort eating is piling on..will start being healthy tomorrow...

claireybee · 23/04/2008 16:39

LOL I went to Julian Graves and got loads of chocolate covered goodies-tell myself its healthy "but goji berries are a superfood" etc

macdoodle · 23/04/2008 17:07

Well Clairey poo to them
I am still ex BF (though trying the odd bottle with my precious EBM that she is not remotely interested in)...she is 17 weeks on Fri and HUUUGE she weighed 17lb6oz at 15 weeks and is almost out of the 3-6 mo clothes (she is long as well)...
AND she sleeps through the night almost every night from about 8 (sometimes 7) to 5-6 am-ish and then usually goes back for another hour or so (sorry to the non sleepers I know how hard it is in fact DD1 now age 6 still wakes more than the baby does ).....
I am going back to work in 6 weeks though starting the childcare and going in for few hours to get back up to speeed the week before so 5 weeks on Mon - am very at leaving her she is such a pleasure what if she cries all day and at this rate she will starve as still not taking bottles (one of the mums in baby yoga is gonna bring me a doidy cup to try )......
Had a real baby brain day today - went to movies (newbies) got ther got her out car and had forgot my bag and purse had to go all the way home but still ent back just missed first 5 mins or so ....then had to go to bank (desperate to get cheque for tax man from my only account I can't access online) and BLOODY forgot my bag AGAIN as my sister said dooooofus!

Wizzska · 23/04/2008 19:27

Macdoodle - now there are no excuses for that kind of behaviour if your baby is sleeping through [school teacher emoticon] . Us mums of non sleepers must have something for ourselves and its the baby brain excuse!

Tried baby rice for DS at lunchtime today, had given it a break after trying it a couple of weeks ago. He was really enthusiastic today, grabbing the spoon and trying to do a sucky chewy mouth.
