Hello ladies, will you join me here?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
claireybee · 21/04/2008 14:45

It was first letter of dd's name, second of ds' etc. Have changed back now though as didn't recognise myself! There was a thread about your nickname actually being your name and it got me wanting something a bit more random (and less obviously me to people in RL) but it felt wierd-have been claireybee for so long!

Snap on bra size Skid. At least we are not alone in being the smallest, perhaps instead of bump buddies we can be boob buddies

Lizzer they are sleep twins aren't they? Am I right in thinking we had the same due date (10th) too? Or was that someone else?

Have soooo much housework I'm meant to be doing but appear to be spending rather a lot of time on here instead! Knew I shouldn't have turned the computer on this morning, it's always lethal, just keeps drawing me back in! Not helping that I'm chatting to my sister on msn either...

skidaddle · 21/04/2008 14:53

hi boob buddy! Glad you changed your name back - it was all too confusing for my ageing little brain!

Now stop reading this and do some bl**dy housework

claireybee · 21/04/2008 15:07

it was too confusing for mine too-I was looking at posts thinking "who's that?!"

Can't-am bf ds!

cazzybabs · 21/04/2008 16:23

Evie can kind of sit up - if you put her legs in the right place and she is holding onto something - even a cloth with do it, but as soon as she lets go she topples backwards,.

BouncingTurtle · 21/04/2008 16:36

Hello, just caught up, have had an awful headache and hideous nausea since yesterday lunchtime, still a wee bit headachy but feeling better... some birthday I'm having

To add mine into the mix, DS sleeps in a 2.5 tog sleeping bag and just a sleepsuit, our bedroom is around 21-23 deg. He seems fine, though I might try Claireybee's suggestion of putting a thin blanket on top after his 2am feed as he does tend to wake at 4am, maybe for the same reason? He does take a good feed but then doesn't feed so much when he wakes up at 6-7am. I'll see if the blanket helps him sleep a bit longer after his 2am feed.

Lizzer - yes Durham is lovely, great walks along the Wear and still in the city centre! Queues weren't too bad, though it was very cold. When you arrive, go to Guest Services and as for a Parent Queue share. Tell your DH to go on a ride while you wait with the kids, when he gets on he needs to get the card ticked. Afterwards, get the card off him, go to where it says on the card (normally the exit or disabled entrance) and get straight on the ride without having to queue!
I can also recommend the single rider queues, which are on the big rides - I got to go on RITA twice while my friend and her fiance's nephew were in the main queue
Most people travel in groups and don't want to be split up so the single rider queues are great! We were in a big group (13 including the baby) but we weren't bothered about being on rides together, though when I used the single rider queue twice I ended up on the ride with another member of my group. Longest I think we had to queue was about 30mins for Air, but it is still fairly early on. I think in Storybook land there is a couple of rides you can take baby on but I didn't bother.

Sorry that turned out to be a long post! ANy must dash, DH and I going to watch a film. IN a way I'm glad that I've been ill today because DH has been off so he has been able to look after DS, would have found it hard to cope on my own. DH even managed to get a bottle of EBM down him!

BouncingTurtle · 21/04/2008 16:37

Missed a sentence out there - Queues of course refers to Alton Towers!

claraquitetirednow · 21/04/2008 19:56

BT - you're not pregnant again are you???? Alton Towers sounds good, I have been trying to pursuade DH to go but I think he is put off by queues.

Skid - I am slightly freaked by dd2 and how well she is sitting, playing with toys etc. In a way she must be the oldest baby here as she was due on 1st dec, but was 11 days late. However I think she looks and behaves more like a 6-month old, I'm sure we didn't get these toys out for dd1 before she was about that age.

Glad you got a nice lie-in. And that ds is enjoying his baths a bit more.

My blocked duct seems to be getting better on its own. I wonder whether it was because I was so excited at the thought of wearing normal bras again I tried to squeeze my boobs into one of my old ones too soon (34d for the record!). Am back in horrible unsupportive breastfeeding bras for a few more days....

Claireybee - glad you've changed your name back, it just didn't look right somehow! I find myself singing along to Something Special all the time, dd1 seems to really like it- no idea why, she seems to like Justin in all his various guises (in particular as Mr Tumble).

macdoodle · 21/04/2008 20:46

Went to baby yoga today (interesting ).....Lil was second youngest there but second biggest - bit strange as she isn't sitting yet and so seemed a bit odd next to much smaller babies (in size) but more advanced as some were 2-3 months older IYKWIM???

Ambi · 21/04/2008 21:09

Have you given your LOs any nicknames yet? I can't help it, I give everyone nicknames, and DD isn't any different She's called Lollypop.

claraquitetirednow · 21/04/2008 21:11

ambi - martha-darth, sometimes known as darth vader!

Ambi · 21/04/2008 21:17

oh I like that claraq

kelbel · 21/04/2008 21:48

nicknames - fred elliott! for non corrie fans - a big fat man with about 5 chiins and no hair!

mac - thinkit was you asking about baby massage also? ds loves his night time massage, but hated the course we went to! it was at 10 in the morning and was an hour a week on each body part, so an hour just on legs was far too long!

kelbel · 21/04/2008 21:53

have cancelled our over priced gym membership and set up a gym in the spare room! been in twice today, feeling great

kelbel · 21/04/2008 21:57

oh and boob report - i was a very slight 32 b! and am currently a 34 dd with hardly and
y extra weight anywhere so this is a novelty! altho its a nice change, i can't fit into many of my old going out clothes(not that we get to go out much)!

suey2 · 22/04/2008 08:18

ambi - millie is nicknamed spud. no idea why!

suey2 · 22/04/2008 08:28

still have a fat tummy, but heigh ho. The moment i start to do something about it, my diet gets worse and my milk reduces. Tus many 'it's for the breast milk darling' comments and raised eyebrows from DH

loucee · 22/04/2008 09:29

Hi everyone

HAven't been on for ages as we still haven't got internet access yet (changing ISPs). I can't believe how much time I spend on the net - at the moment the house is up to date and been to the gym a lot in teevenings because chores are done!

hope everyone is doing well, i've only skimmed the thread and wanted to send huge hugs to Amani hope your DD is ok.

DS is doing well, he's a wee smiley thing and totally adorable.

must rush now off to music class for DD (using phone to post this)

Wizzska · 22/04/2008 10:26

Kelbel - well done you re: the gym in the spare room. I cancelled my gym membership too, am trying to go running semi regularly. Have also got the Wii Fit on order and set to arrive at the weekend, can't wait.

DS has had a right nark on over the past couple of days. Really screaming and wanting to be held lots. I think it might be teeth.

OP posts:
Wizzska · 22/04/2008 10:32

RE: toys and things. DS can't sit up yet on his own, although he only needs a tiny bit of support. He does love walking though if you're willing to hold him up and it usually cheers him up if he's screaming. He loves his toys and has for a while now.

OP posts:
Lizzer · 22/04/2008 13:15

What's that sound?
Oh, that'll be me pulling the crib (ds in situ) out of our room and into the nursery at 2am last night

Funny time to decide to do that i know but i had had enough of dp waking ds by snoring then settling ds only to lie there listening to both of them chuntering away! The best thing is it actually worked to some extent as in ds did wake another 2 times but he settled back in crib awake, getting himself off to sleep without nipple in mouth (could hardly call it bfing). God when i think what I must've looked like though, negotiating the bedroom doors, avoiding a pile of washing on the landing, and in the dark! Definitely in the territory of the sleep deprived LOL

Having a massive do about bfing today but i think i'm just emotional, its like i know i'd regret giving up right now but the thought of not being so attached is quite appealing, again its probably sleep deprivation talking and i'll get over it. Just had to let it out on here

Nice to hear from you Loucee, hope you get your isp sorted soon-LOL at your tidy house though

Thanks for the info on AT, BT! That's a great idea with the parent queue things, thanks for the tip off..Don't know how brave i'll be feeling on the day though

Skid, sorry i didn't realise you were in Durham just saw that BT had arranged a meet up there. I definitely want a weekend there sometime, so pretty

Wizz, yeah the teeth are an issue here too, poor things-hard work though eh?

Clairey, glad you stayed as you are name wise, i think the same too though about RL, its sooo obvious what my real name is! And yes ds was due 10th, good memory

Ds nowhere near sitting up (17w) Hasn't rolled or anything yet... He can talk though, only he knows what he's saying

Re toys, ds grabs and stuffs in his mouth but gets really annoyed with them after a few mins, don't know what he's expecting them to do! I have to honest and say i've stopped giving them to him if he's tired cos he just ends up in tears v quickly...Anyone elses lo the same?

Re nicknames, we've got a sausage!! [gfin]

Lizzer · 22/04/2008 13:16

BT-happy birthday for yesterday

skidaddle · 22/04/2008 14:49

Happy bday BT - do you know what you've got or are you just rundonw? Hoep you enjoy the film anyway

LOL at you moving the cot at 2am Lizzer! DS is still in our room but only because we only have 2 bedrooms and there is nowhere for him to go until he reliably sleeps through and then he can go in with DD. I think they often do sleep better in their own room though so hopefully you will have a good night tonight

Nicknames - mine are too embarrassingly nauseating to confess but i have plenty. The least nauseating is probably sweet potato or maybe pumpkin pie but there are so so many more which make me just thinking about them

Clara - I can imagine being a bit freaked out by having a sitting up 4 month old! You'd better get her name down for a special gifted baby class
How is the weight loss going? Do you think stopping BF has made a difference - you must have lost a few pounds off your bobs at least!

Macdoo - tell us about the baby yoga class - was thinking about looking for one of those. Did baby massage with DD and it was just like any other baby group really - but lots of nice mums to chat to

Does anyone else have an overly laid-back verging on the neglectful DH? As I was leaving this pm DH had DS out in the garden in the bright sunshine with no hat, no cover and no sunscreen. I said something like, don;t want to be a nag but can you make sure he has a hat on or is covered up when you go to the park today? He rolled his eyes up to the heavens as if I was some kind of neurotic maniac - surely it is just sensible not to have a 4 month old baby in the sun?! He also never thinks to change his nappy until he is wet through, leaves him 'sitting' on the sofa and other such things. if I protest he calls me by my SILs name who is very highly-strung! Aaaagh

claireybee · 22/04/2008 18:17

Last jabs today and stayed on for baby clinic to get ds weighed. He has only put on 1lb in 6 weeks and has dropped a centile (that would be why Rory looks bigger Wizz-he is!). Am not worried but am a bit disappointed-would like for him to get fat on my milk alone. Funnily enough he weighs exactly the same as dd did at 20 weeks (is 19) but for her it was still on her centile line and on the boys chart its a centile less.

LOL at you with the cot Lizzer! I have kicked dh out rather than ds, he is sleeping on the sofabed in the sitting room cos his snoring was leading me to murderous thoughts! Hmm so our boys really are twins-big twin and little twin I think!

Happy birthday BT, is it today or yesterday? sorry I missed that as I was reading through!

Clara is dd2 definitely your last? Do you feel sad that she is growing up so fast? I think I would but dh can't wait for ds to be dd's age.

Skid dh is like that too, he was worse with dd though-used to leave her in the bath (not at 4 months!) and forget to feed her proper meals. If i complain i get called a control freak (which considering most people think I am v laid back really pisses me off!)

Nicknames: Douggie-doo or just doodoo or baby boy. nothing very creative! dd was always munchkin, munchkalina or pumpkin

claireybee · 22/04/2008 18:18

Skid fess up to the nicknames!

Amani · 22/04/2008 18:22

Thanks everyone once again.

Hope you and your LO are well.

Not been on for a while, as DD2 infection flared up again - don't know why even though she is on AB. I just wish my poor baby would get better.

Had such a hectic day today, trying to maintain DD1 daily routine so she doesn't feel like mummy has forgotten her, so took her to Toddler Club am, quick lunch for her, then off to GP (about 20 mins drive away due to road works) to be told that DD2 can't have her third course of vaccinations as she is on AB, begged with the receptionist to allow me to see the GP this afternoon as DD2 has been very unsettled for the past two days (easier to get into Fort Knox then it is to book an appointment) - was told to come back at 4pm, which in NHS language meant being seen at 5:30pm - got home had 2 very tired and unsettled daughters. Put them both down for a nap now - it's prob going to interfer with their night sleeping - but am so tired at the moment - not bothered. So now working my way through half a lemon sponge roll from M&S (I know... mega unhealthy - but is my saviours these days - especially as they have it on offer for 2 for £2 at the moment - I have a little stash at the moment)

Caz10 - hope you have managed to sleep better.

BT - Happy Birthday hun.

Kelbel - well done for the postive 'gym' action. I seriously need to get into shape but right now I'm in the 'can't be bothered' phase.

Skid - my DH is the complete opposite - even if I leave the buggy alone in Asda for 20 secs while I go to the end of the isle and select some food - he gets wound up saying anyone could snatch her...even though I have one eye on her.

Was going to reply to everyone, but can hear DD2 on the monitor crying....again....it's such hard work caring for a sick baby...times like this really wish I had an extra pair of hands... (gosh I hope I don't sound like an incompetent mum who can't cope with her own kids).
