Hello ladies, will you join me here?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Ambi · 19/04/2008 17:59

Clairey, prepg - 38DD, During PG/BFing - 40E/F, now? Maybe 36D, and they don't half look pitiful! It's strange getting used to no boobs after being busty for years - though not like some of you!!

Pecka, good news on the sleep front.

Louise76 · 19/04/2008 19:05

Just popping on to catch up while dh nips out for a takeaway. DD asleep in bed at 1840 tonight and hopefully she'll stay that way!

I've been away to my Mums overnight with dd and she was really good apart from taking the bottle. She is fine with it from dd but still needs to get used to it from me or someone else. We're going to keep going with it as I defo want to stop bf - just because I've had enough and want my body back. I'm not due back to work until Dec as taking the full year off.

By the way clairey - bra size currently 32G but was 30E before and hopefully will be that again or it's going to be very expensive replacing all those bras!

Amani - sending you lots of positive vibes to your lo. I hope she makes a full recovery and I hope you get some time to yourself too as you've all been through an ordeal.

Better go now as dh will be back with the curry soon. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend and I hope that all the babies have a good long sleep overnight!!

Beanstermummy · 19/04/2008 20:07

Clairey - hey react more at the 2nd and 3rd jabs as they have built up some immunity to the bugs and so slight reaction is expected. DD2 had her last set on Thursday and did have a couple of red bumps but all ok now.

Went swimming today which was jolly - all been a bit flat myself but just mooching around with the 2 piggles cheers me up.

Re. BF - (can't remember who's dropped some feeds) - Seemt to be in a pattern now of one full Bottle and one top up a day (usually full feed is the afternoon one) and after her messing a bit last week we've cut back on the food for now (just a tiny bit after 6pm feed). So far things are ok and my boobs seem quite happy with missing a feed or so and no problems in the night. She's still taking a big feed at 4am though then not much at breaskfast which is a pain - need to get her switched over

Big 'thing' this week has been removal of her dummy - she's been a bit bunged up in the evening s and after 2 nights of getting up just about every hour to her to settle her back with the dummy - which she'd spat out coz she couldn't breethe through her nose (!!) decided enough was enough. She sort of seems to be getting the message and was more settled last night - still hard when out and about though when she's wailing away and I know it'd stop if I gave in but the nights have been horrid so needs must. helped as DH is still at home due to foot op so support there too.

Ambi - big hugs hun - things like like scare me how what could be almost overlooked could turn out to so serious like that - hope things all going well now?

Bra size - I've given up! was a 38 B/C before and now wearing good old M&S 42C's - comfy enough but not tonnes of support - just can't bring myself to spend lots of cash on something that (hopefully) when I lose all my excess flab (positive thought for the day ) i'll be treating myself to lots of nice new stuff so for now am making do.

Anyway - little bug now settled and big bug on the way (demanded Daddy put her to bed tonight) - glass of wine is required

Happy thoughts to you all for a good night's sleep and good rest of the weekend

TTFN x

Amani · 19/04/2008 22:30

Thanks everyone for your support. Actually thought I was being optimistic and postive that everything will be ok for DD2 but this afternoon I broke down crying absolutely worried sick about DD2 and terrified that her ears wouldn't heal. Am so so so worried (X 10000000000000000000000000000000). The next two weeks seem like ages and I haven't been sent my appointment through the post yet so I don't even know what date to look forward to...

Wizzska · 20/04/2008 08:36

Amani - I don't know what to say, just massive sympathy. Just hang on in there.

OP posts:
BouncingTurtle · 20/04/2008 09:04

Amani - sorry you have so much worry on your plate. Lots of sympathy and vitual hugs heading your way.

Alton Towers - bloody freezing, and not too many warm places to breastfeed. At least I managed to use the "Would you eat your sandwich in a toilet?" line on one numpty who directed me to the changing facility!
Crap start, as was running around trying to find somewhere to sit, managed to find a seat a coffee shop to feed ds. Then went on RITA OHMYGODTHATWASTHHEMOSTFANTASTICRIDEEVER!!!!

claireybee · 20/04/2008 12:28

Amani poor poor you, I can only imagine how worried you must be

Also forgot to say yesterday well done Martha! She is doing better than ds Clara-he can't sit now that he tries to play with stuff at the same time, just topples over! Still not rolling either, kind of twists his body over then can't be bothered to put any effort into it! Was dd1 super advanced too? DD seemed to do things a lot earlier than ds is but I think it's also partly having her makes him seem more of a baby in comparison.

Am very jealous of the boobs! (Caz get yourself on here-I know you share my lack of them!)As for a D not being busty Ambi....[grr]

Good night last night! DS drank his bottle-yay! Went to bed normal time, slept until 1.15, fed and went back down until 4.15, fed again and back to sleep until 6.45- I fed him then gave him to dh and went back to bed myself. More jabs on tuesday though so no doubt it will all go tits up again...

claraquitetirednow · 20/04/2008 16:20

Claireybee - thanks! Yes dd1 was very strong too, I can't remember exactly when she started sitting up on her own but she definitely was by 5 months. I have a picture of her standing up, holding on to the back of the sofa, at about 5 and a half months. If anything I think Martha is even stronger. I think she gets it from her daddy!! Sounds like your nights are definitely getting more manageable. We've had several nights where she has slept through now - but it can't be a co-incidence that she is now 100% on formula!

Talking of which, I now have a blocked milk duct - not sure how to get rid of it and worried it's going to turn into mastitis as dh away tomorrow for two nights...

Amani - you poor thing, I really feel for you. Wish I could make it easier, the waiting must be horrible. I'm sending you lots of good vibes and hope to see you posting some good news soon.

Beanster - lots of parallels between our lives at the moment! I was a little down and I am not sure whether dropping breastfeeds was part of the problem? Glad swimming made you feel better. Also we got rid of the dummy a couple of weeks ago. I'm still glad I did, but only just - settling her is much harder now and, like you, I have to worry about wailing in the shops which I didn't before. It's also hard to settle her at night if she wakes - luckily not every night anymore but when she does we are a bit clueless as to what to do!

Now that I've stopped breastfeeding I am on a proper diet, following Weightwatchers points. Blah! Have managed two days so far, really determined to lose all the weight (and more) before we leave for Islamabad. Have also bought a pilates dvd and so far done it twice (it's in 10 minute segments which is useful) and my tummy is in agony!!

becklespeckle · 20/04/2008 18:10

Afternoon all! Phew! It has taken me ages to catch up!

Amani, how scary for you! Am sending loads of positive vibes to you, hopefully your appt will come through tomorrow so you have a date to look forward to.

Awen, how are Samuel's ears today?

Bouncing, hope you and Daniel are recovered from your scare at the pool! TBH you were probably more worried by it than he was, I know I would be. re: online shopping, keep and eye on this thread, there is usually a code on there! I definitely spend less when online shopping too as I don't spot all the yummy cakes bargains around the store! Was so tired this week though that I kept falling asleep while booking it that I ended up with a few things I didn't need and missed a few bits I did off the list.

Cazzy, that is just what my Evie does when she rolls. She will get her whole body and head over and have one arm stuck, then she rolls back again. She did get right over last week but has not done it again since. How for you to get covered in poo in public. Evie nearly always leaks when she poos so I have to change her immediately, I have been covered in poo on more than one occasion, thankfully never while out (although she has, learned very early on to always carry a change or 2 of clothing with me).

Suey, very cute pic of Millie! Glad she has been more herself again.

Clara, wow at DD sitting! She's doing very well! Back to the BF thread you were posting on, I think it very unfair that people get flamed on here for being honest. Everyone has their own opinion and their own way of doing things, there is no need for people to get nasty if they don't agree! Next time I see one of those "one thing you like about a fellow MNetter" threads I'll put you on it for your honesty and standing by your principles.

Macdoodle, I would not have taken DD for jabs with a cold either (in fact I cancelled DDs 2nd set this week for just that reason, rebooked for 2 weeks time) especially after your recent scare with her.

Caz, I am still bathing DD in the bathroom sink at the moment! Just sort of dip her in, wash her and get her out! Will probably put her in the big bath with her brothers when she is sitting up.

DD is definitely teething, she is dribbling and chewing her hands like anything. She also keeps sticking her tongue over her gum, especially while feeding. She has made my nips really sore!

Can I ask some advice to those of you using grobags? Have just got DD her first one as she kept turning herself around in her cot in her sleep - didn't want her wriggling under the covers. What to you put your baby in underneath it? I got her a 1.0 tog summer weight one as my house is usually warm (20-21 degrees C in the bedroom). It says at that temperature to put her in a vest and pj top underneath it at that temp or a long sleeved vest if its a little warmer but her legs felt a bit chilly this morning. Would just a sleepsuit be okay or would she overheat?

Beanstermummy · 20/04/2008 19:10

just a quickie - Bespeckle - Freya is in a 2.5 tog bag still and vest and sleep suit - although our room varies between 18 and 22 depending on whether the heating has been on during the day or not - TBH she seems happy as larry. With DD1 she only ever had 2.5 bags but did go to just a vest when it was height of summer.

Friends BBQ today which was jolly but have been sort of stressed all day for no reason - very annoying Will now try and chill for rest of the night - Freya seems to have got used to the lack of dummy which is very jolly - only 5 mins wailing each time we put her down - success

kelbel · 20/04/2008 19:28

bespeckle - flynn in 2.5, vest and sleep suit, room normally 21/22 and he's fine with that

our night out went well, ds was asleep at 645, we went out at 730 and got a poto message from the grandparents about 1030 of ds taking a bottle! little buggerr, we tried everything for months and he took one straight off. fil said - it must b the angle we give it! aagh, that made me sooo angry! anyway, he wouldn;'t settle after that so they rang us about 1115 to come home, but that was great, we had a really great night and it was soo lovely to give ds a big cuddle. he was crying when we got in but started laughing when me and dh picked him up, that topped the night off!

claraquitetirednow · 20/04/2008 20:25

Beckle - thank you, that is so nice! If I see one of those threads I will put you on for being so lovely DD2 in 2.5 grobag with vest and sleepsuit, same as Beanster and Kelbel's LO's, and seems happy.

Kelbel - ha ha at your LO taking the bottle from your parents! Although it must have been annoying, it must have been a relief as well! And how cute that he laughed when you got home. I love their laughter, it is the one thing always guaranteed to cheer me up if I am feeling down.

Wizzska · 20/04/2008 21:57

Beckle - I've always put DS in a vest and sleepsuit under his grobag, I even put a blanket over him sometimes. Our bedroom can get a bit cold though sometimes.

Bouncing - well done you about the sandwich line. Three cheers!

Clara - hopefully your blocked duct won't last. Mine cleared up after a day or two. I think it might be our little ones teething or something. DS bobs on and off sometimes and moans, it messes his latch up and I can get sore.

DS not sitting yet, he topples over. He rolls but hasn't rolled over yet. That's because he has his legs at a bit of an angle to get himself to roll so they get in the way of him getting over to his tummy.

Must get back to DH. We're having a Mario cart racing tournament on the Wii. DS is in bed.

thingamajig · 20/04/2008 21:57

Hi all, not been on for ages, so havnt really caught up. Amani, hope your little ones ears are OK in the long term, it must be very hard for you especially when you have been down anyway.
Kelbel, I think that if someone else gives a bottle its more likely to work, cos the little buggers work out that there is no mummy around give them a boob if they make a fuss. I can never give a bottle, only my dh.
Im not feeling so good, I had a horrible sicky bug on Friday and still feel ick. I vomited every hour for 12 hours on Fri night, and couldnt even keep water down. I still dont feel like eating, though Im not puking any more. On the plus side, I have lost half a stone.
All of you talking about your babies sleeping for 12 hours had me in tears, I could really do with more than 3 hrs sleep in a go for the first time in 4 months. She is still so little, only 10 14 at 16 weeks that I really cant try to make her drop some feeds.

suey2 · 21/04/2008 08:34

morning all.
Off to see la vie en rose today at the local scream session. Last 2 weeks of mat leave and counting!

Poor you thingamajig! hope it doesn't affect your milk too much. (sorry, can't remember of you are FF/BF)

LOL Wizz- we are addicted to the tiger woods PGA golf tour game- is the mario bros one worth buying?

beckle i have millie in a 2.5 tog/ PJs if less than 20 degrees, 1.5 tog / PJs if more than 20 degrees, although i am not that strict if the appropriate grobag is dirty. I have found that she screams far less getting into PJs than a sleepsuit after bathtime.

Caz10 · 21/04/2008 10:14

small boob support is here!!

pre-pregnancy...34b

during pregnancy/bf-ing....ta-daaaaa....34c!!

the funny thing is, dh and my friends think it is hilarious that i now have "massive" boobs...i actually think that normally i should really be 34a, but just can't bring myself to buy them!

craaaaaaaap nights here! dd's sleep is just getting worse and worse - a couple of months ago she was doing a 6hr stretch ? last week we were lucky to get 2 or 3, now she is up EVERY HOUR I am dying. No idea what is going on, she is chomping, dribbling etc as if it were teeth, and I can see them lurking under the surface but they?ve been like that for weeks. SO tired.

Anyway just to say Amani how awful for you, and hope you are doing ok, that must have been so frightening, hugs.

I am meant to be tidying up now as DH let me lie in and has now taken dd away in pram, probably shouldn?t take the piss too much?

coigli · 21/04/2008 11:04

Beckle I always found dd was cold if I put her in what they said. ATM ds is in a short sleeved vest, sleepsuit and 2.5 tog bag. No idea of room temp but it sometimes feel very chilly esp at 3/4am and I don't think it is a coincidence that he is restless at around that time so if he feels cold I'll put a thin cotton cellular blanket over him (and make sure I take it off when the heating comes on). I do think they are a bit cautious with their guidelines, but they have to be I suppose. As the weather gets warmer I'll stop putting a vest on then in summer he'll wear just a vest.

Those having bad nights, I had quite a few weeks of literally no sleep but for the past two nights ds has just woken twice, long may it last! (well actually it would be nice if he woke just once or not at all but I can live with twice-don't want to push my luck!)

Beanster is it when your period would be due? I've been feeling very premenstrual the last few days!

Glad your night out was a success Kelbel

Feel better soon thingmajig, those sickness bugs are awful. I had one when pregnant and felt like I was losing all my innards!

Managing to express 5oz now which seems to be enough...don't think he'd argue with a couple more though!

coigli · 21/04/2008 11:05

ooh it's clairey btw-forgot I'd been experimenting with new names!

coigli · 21/04/2008 11:15

hmm why is it ds has been wingey all morning but has been sitting quietly since Something Special came on cbeebies?! gives me one reason not to find justin quite so annying anyway

coigli · 21/04/2008 11:29

ooh he just rolled over-front to back! Looked really proud of himself too!

Louise76 · 21/04/2008 11:54

Hello

Re grobags - DD is in one every night, I think they are brilliant as she would kick her covers off within about 10 minutes! The temperature in our house can vary and can be quite cold overnight so at the moment she is wearing a vest and babygro with scratch mitts folded over partly to keep her hands warm and partly to stop her scratching her face.

Enjoy the last of your mat leave Suey. I can't believe people are going back to work, it seems so soon!

Is anyone else due back soon?

Lizzer · 21/04/2008 13:06

Hello! Well we're back from Newcastle, boy it is cold in the NE breeze Didn't rain though so we got out and about, went to the Sage and the quayside market yesterday (wow how much that has changed since I used to go as a teenager and bought a 'Bros' mirror-its all fresh bread, funky T's and 'Art' now LOL!) Was lovely to see my Grandma too, she's ace Also ds was a gem, hardly cried or fussed, slept ALL of the way both 2.5hr journeys The only bad bit was him waking from 1am through to 6am every hour, just a bit unsettled in the travel cot/room-not suprising really but boy do my boobs hurt from letting him comfort suck..

Clairey/coigli-wow, we really do have 2 boys who are sleep twins, every time i read what your ds is doing mine is too... I can't bare the tears when not offering a boob and i too think 'well, it can't go on forever' I think it was sweet you offering a bottle of bm to your dd, i bet it brought back some memories for her

Amani, totally understandable that you had a meltdown, the shock must be terrible, i'm so sorry

Buzzy, we've got a date with the specialists for next monday re:ds's kidney. I'm sort of relieved that its moving along and absolutely petrified of them booking an op. When is your dd's scan again?

Boobs-was 38c now 40D-much prefer them a bit smaller as its hard getting coats/shirts done up and it makes me look top heavy...anyway its not for too long, after last time bfing my boobs just went back to normal size so i'm hoping for that this time too....

Pecka-excellent on the sleep front, totally obviously LOL

Poor you thinga, hope you're well on the mend now..

Kelbel, gald you enjoyed your night out-think we'll try v soon to have one, I want to go to the new ITalian wine bar in town, just on a week night, don't think I'm ready for a weekend crowd just yet

I can't wait to have my hair done on Saturday (sorry just had to get that out)

BT, we drove through Durham on the way home, its so beautiful, wish i could meet up with all you NE mummies one day but it is a long way from us (2hrs) but I'll let you knwo if we go over again... Thanks for the AT info, we are taking dd for her b'day treat this yr as her bday is juts one day after ds was born so we (understandably) didn't do anything last year. I was wondering about bfing etc...How were the queues btw?

Lizzer · 21/04/2008 13:09

Oh and beckle, same as kelbel on the grobag front-2.5, vest sleepsuit..

Caz10, hang in there, sleep will get better, after me 'its just a phase, its just....'

Ambi · 21/04/2008 13:14

Grobag, ours is I think a 2.5, she has that and a blanket over as it gets really cold here at night, she wears a vest and sleepsuit and socks over her hands to keep them warm.
I know, back to work already, I've been asked to go back in sept p/t which seems an age away so not really thinking about it yet, but at least I'll be able to take DD in with me.

skidaddle · 21/04/2008 14:31

afternon everyone

amani - so sorry to hear about your DD and have my fingers fimly crossed that all will heal well. Two weeks is such a long time to wait and it must be agaonising for oyu. Please come on and tell us how you're feeling whenever you feel like it

clairey and caz - more small boob support - 32A usually, 34B now - am i the smallest? A B-cup seems huge to me, can;t even imagine a J!!

clara - wow at your DD sitting up!! I have never heard of a baby sitting so early. It must be lovely for her to have a good view of everything now. I really wish DS could sit up because he loves being upright but I can't sit him on my knee all day
Maybe try expressing for blocked ducts? and hot flannel?

lizzer - glad you hd a nice time in newc and Durham - i live in Durham as well. You're right, it is beautiful - it is easy to forget when you see it everyday

beckle - 2.5 grobag, vest and babygro here as well. His hands are always freezing but the rest of him is warm

coigli - what does your new name mean?

suey - how do you feel with such a little time left? Are you dreading it or looking forward to being out there again?

MN must be magic - the very night after asking you all if your babies hated the bath, DS miraculously stated liking being in the bath! So thank you mysterious MN powers - I told my DH to log on complaining he wasn't getting enough sex to see if MN magic would work for him but he declined

Oh and thanks for all the AIBU answers - Got two lovely lie-ins at the weekend - until 8.30 yesterday - bliss
