Hello ladies, will you join me here?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Caz10 · 14/04/2008 16:06

BT was reading with interest your posts re feeding to sleep etc, as i had been worrying about it too. tbh i find it hard NOT to - dd seems to be ferociously hungry after her bath no matter when we do it, then 99% of the time falls asleep at the end of the feed.

lol to asda loucee, i did tesco online this morning, i can see myself never going back to the store! i was sitting in my dressing gown, feeding dd, ordering shopping and thinking thank for this!!
i have just taken dd and dog to beach to walk dog - me driving (new driver), baby in sling, mad dog....argh...one of these things that should be lovely but was just stressful!

wizzska how is your boob?!

pecka pleeeeease email me, I need to send you money to cover postage! The collection kits are coming tomorrow, so operation Big Pump starts then!! Thank you so much again. I've been using the liquid more milk stuff and it's so minging, so I use one of your capsules every now and again when I can't face it!

beanstermummy sorry to hear things have not been good, you sound like you have a lot on your plate quite apart from anything else. Yousound like you have good support which is great. take care.
I can't do 23rd but would be free Wed 30th, are either of you around then?

wobbegong we took DD away last month - we just took her little moses basket off it's stand, is than an option for you? So she was in her normal bed, in her normal wee grobag thing - tbh i don't think she knew she was anywhere diferent! (still woke up to feed umpteen times! )

beckle - well Evie really! - well done!! DD has got up onto her side a couple of times but not right over - it's v exciting! I got one of these tummy spinner things from Ebay,I think she prefers it to being on a totally flat surface.

I was going to ask loucee that too re the separation - what did the physio suggest? I'm pretty sure I still have it. I used to go to Pilates, think it would be good for sorting it out, but the classes are quite expensive.

louise well done you for making such a positive decision re BF-ing. I'm not sure what to do in the long run, but it still seems right just now so will carry on. I think it might depend whether my supply stands up to me going back to work. loucee i am worried re the prolactin receptors too - dd was so small and sleepy and we had such crap advice (HV said FIVE hours between feeds was ok when she was 1 week old!) that I KNOW i didn't feed her enough...yikes...she is putting on weight nicely now though, and I am chugging the More Milk just in case!

Caz10 · 14/04/2008 16:08

Oh RGPargy and madmouse - hi!!

suey2 · 14/04/2008 16:18

oo wobbe we got millie a travel cot, a little arc tent-like one from mothercare. Having had a nightmare trying to settle her in a different cot previously, she really took to this one and it is light and small. Now we take it everywhere- it is good until they are 4.

becklespeckle · 14/04/2008 16:48

Caz, Evie prefers her tummy spinner to the floor too (also an ebay purchase)! Online shopping is fab, this thread is great for codes for money off too.

Caz10 · 14/04/2008 17:21

ooh that is great, thanks!

loucee · 14/04/2008 17:30

Caz yeah usually I order online with Tescos as well but Asda have great deals on nappies and we get two bumper boxes for £20 (one for DD and one for DS) so I thought I'd pop along there for a browse anyway. For anyone else with DD's who like Fifi or Dora Asda have some lovely mock crocs for a fiver.

BouncingTurtle · 14/04/2008 17:52

Hello everyone! Been on a MN meet up, ate a lovely and naughhty pavlova yum! Then came home , had lunch and ds and I had a nap - he had about 2 hours! He is now happily playing under his arch.

Caz - at your online shopping - DH only lets me do online shopping when I can get a discount voucher the meanie.
Loucee - good that you are feeling positive about stopping bfing and well done for doing it for so long!
Beanster - sorry things have been so tough for you, hope things get better soon. Keep us all posted as to how you are doing!
Beckle - well done your dd, that is fabulous! Clever girl, turning over

Beanstermummy · 14/04/2008 19:01

Awen and others - when trying to flick back over your posts I noticed the link re unsettled feeding etc - after convincing myself BF was going quickly down the pan as DD2 was so restless etc - it all seems to make sense. Have decided that her afternoon feed around 3pm is going to be a bottle as in order to try and regain my ever decreasing sanity I do try and get out and about in the afternoon - which is exactly when she rashes around like a ninja - but to be upstairs and quiet for the other feeds where possible - she's just had her evening feed really well and refused any top up so seems to be working

Also having this afternoon completely child free (God I sound a crap mother!!) has been great - bath with nae floaty things (apart from little rose petals from the bath bomb!) and then long shower to do the necessary pruning and actually even got time to dry my hair properly! How do the yummy mummy's manage to look so groomed all the time???? Anyway - piggleys now back after lots of fresh air so hopefully good night for us all.

Cheers for the good wishes re my PND - in a way it's worse than before as I can't help but think I should be able to sort out these feelings as I should know how to calm myself down etc but also at least I know I will get through this and it won't have any effect on DD2 - will keep happy thoughts going hopefully

kelbel · 14/04/2008 20:30

caz - snap, ds enjoys his bath but then is starving and thrashes around until i feed him, he then always falls asleep with no kicking off at the end of the feed. that's him then settled in his cot, so i'm kind of rluctant to wake him to try the self settling, although i do often think i should be concentrating on getting him to self settle. he's always asleep by 6.45, and the idea of peaceful tea and glass of wine is too much to turn down

kelbel · 14/04/2008 20:32

tried ds on some v sloppy baby rice and he loved it! made some carrot puree and froze it in prep for a few weeks, v exciting. also hoping once he is getting food from other sources he might be tempted by the bottle!

cazzybabs · 14/04/2008 20:35

Any one's elses baby almost rolling over - Evie (with her nappy off - she is a bit hindered by her large terry). She just needs to move her arm and she would be over..I really thought she was going to go tonight. She has the head over and everything. Mind you this is not a good thing as I regulary leave her on the bed

Caz10 · 14/04/2008 20:40

Oooh beanster, your bath sounds fab!

BT re online shopping, I have found it is actually cheaper as I stick to my list and that is it! The cheapest we've managed to do it is by getting everything we can on our list from Lidl then the rest from Tesco, but with dd we don't seem to have the time to shop around!

Very glad everyone else's LOs are thrashing about while feeding too. Have been getting some looks (eg from MIL !) as dd is off and on about 100 times each feed, quite frustrating. She has already suggested a bit of bread and butter for her...

Caz10 · 14/04/2008 20:46

oh and your meet up sounds good BT!

BouncingTurtle · 14/04/2008 20:52

MILs heh?

I've tried telling DH this about the shopping but he is not convinced...

claraquitetirednow · 14/04/2008 20:59

Beanster - sorry you are having a hard time of it, I hope the toy-free bath helped (when I have a bath I have to battle for space with Postman-bloody-Pat's letterbox and three hundred floating foam letters).

Wobbegone - we went away for a long weekend a few weeks ago and I have also taken both the dd's to my parents for a few nights. I haven't really found it any harder to settle dd2 when we have been away from home, I think the important thing is to keep to the same bedtime routine (eg if you usually do a bath, do that; if you breastfeed in the bedroom last thing, do that etc) and she should be fine. We never really had a problem with dd1 sleeping somewhere new until she was about 20 months and turned into a toddler.

Beckle - I don't think I was brave to post on that thread, I think I was stupid! Thing is they asked a question so I gave an answer but they didn't really want to hear from anyone who disagreed with them. Oh well. The devil in me sometimes does like to stir things up a bit but I hate offending people I otherwise like so will steer clear of controversial subjects from now on...

Kelbel - well done on the food! Dd2 has had babyrice, carrot and babyrice and apple and babyrice so far. I think it's all going down...some of it appears to be coming out the other end so I assume it's being swallowed and not just stored in her hamster cheeks.

Cazzybabs - Martha rolled over front to back a few times weeks ago but doesn't seem bothered with it now. She can almost do back to front too. She likes standing up mostly and can now sit on her own for a few minutes at a time.

cazzybabs · 14/04/2008 20:59

on-line shopping is the best....i to feel i do better as i don't end up with things i don't need.

although i have by mistake ordered 1g of cheese and a tiny jar of honey which lasted about 1 day in our house and 24 cookies.

claraquitetirednow · 14/04/2008 21:01

BT - my dh won't let me shop on line either, he thinks we'll get dud food delievered. Pee's me off a bit as it's not him who has to steer a screaming baby round the supermarket but he has offered to do it in the evenings if it gets too difficult!

claraquitetirednow · 14/04/2008 21:02

Cazzy - 1g of cheese???? Do they even sell it that small?

cazzybabs · 14/04/2008 21:04

they phoned up to check I wanted that much.

We don't get dud food - I rarely get odd subsuitations but I just send them back. No other problems.

claraquitetirednow · 14/04/2008 21:24

that much or that little? or do you mean 1kg?

24 cookies sounds good though.

cazzybabs · 14/04/2008 21:26

No it was that little...ig.

I only kept 4 of the cookies I meant to order as yunmmy as they are I am still fat...(maybe I should have goit just 1g of cheese!)

MamaMaiasaura · 14/04/2008 22:39

wizzka - i can join you on the sore nipple. My right one is really painful. Might be a blocked duct here or just the factr he has been suckling more again. Is 16 weeks on Thursday so will be another growth spurt. Also where he has been poorly he suckled more but less effectively as sore ears made him keep pull off (ouch). Last night he was every 3 hours which is unlike him as has been 8 hours without but the link i posted last night helped lol.

Re the solids am definately trying the BLW route, for me it is far less hassle than making up lots of purees etc. I remember doing that with ds1. Also because advice then was wean at 4 months had to sterilse etc. So waiting till ds2 is 6 months old.l Have to admit he has had the odd lick of pear/apple/grape/kiwi (he didnt like) and suck on water melon. I am glad i feel so sure about what i want to do this time as when i had ds1 i felt a bit lost and unsure. Actually the whole 2nd time round thing has been much better and I have been so much more empowered.

Sorry if i seemed to go off on one re the breastfeeding, just fed up of making apologies for bfing and feeling like i offend people who for whatever reasons arent.

MamaMaiasaura · 14/04/2008 22:40

cazzy - love online shopping too, we ordered 1 banana once but then i ordered @huge@ jars of nutella (accidently of cours )

BouncingTurtle · 15/04/2008 05:57

I did order 1 apple (instead of bag of apples) and they delivered it!

Awen - definitely a growth spurt here too, every 2 hours last night. Though it seems to be me ds is ALWAYS having growth spurts!

suey2 · 15/04/2008 08:13

another shite night here. Millie is in her toy thing and mewling because i am ignoring her, but if she doesn't stop being this clingy day and night i am going to go nutso. I am knackered. DH not much help- thinks it is all misbehaviour but although i agree sometimes that is true, it is not all the time. 1.30am last night she was screaming and wouldn't calm down until i fed her. Whereas now, she does just want attention. she is fed and watered and nappy changed, and is too used to mummy playing with her all the time. this must stop. I give her SO much attention she really need to learn to start playing on her own. It is just so damned difficult to hear her crying though. But at least it is getting easier to tell the difference between genuine distress and what i am sitting listening to just now.
The disappointing thing is that she was doing so well before she got sick and now she has just got used to having mummy on tap. She was content to play on/in her toys for about 20mins at a time- now she starts crying after 2 or 3 minutes. soo distressing
