Hello ladies, will you join me here?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
suey2 · 11/04/2008 17:08

thanks clara! although i do wonder why i bother . But i do love a good debate

Clairey millie tends to scream before crashing out, too. And she isn't very clingy- pretty independent - and actually whinges if i hold her for too long. Not much into cuddles and kisses at all, but loves silly faces

DH is complaining if a lack of DTD again. He wanted to this morning but it was 10 mins before DD was due to wake. I have told him that lunchtime or just after 7pm is the best time as i wont have to keep too much of an ear out. But no, he needs to go to the pub tonight and doesnt generally get back from work until 8.30

claireybee · 11/04/2008 17:23

Have just put new pics up, a few too many i think!

claireybee · 11/04/2008 17:25

Suey when she is screaming do you put her in bed or hold her? Several times I've thought if he is going to scream anyway I might as well just put him down but if I do the crying escalates whereas it stops if I hold him...Is so hard to know what to do sometimes!

Amani · 11/04/2008 18:10

Clara - meant DD1 being addicted to bread!

Lizzer - Lebanese sounds delicious - what's on the menu?

Pecka -

BouncingTurtle · 11/04/2008 18:11

Claireybee - your babies are gorgeous! And wow look at your ds sitting up by himself, clever lad

Pecka - sorry to hear you are feeling down. How are you feeling now? Have you had a chat to your dh as to how you are feeling? You've had a really rough time lately so it is understandable you are on a low, I get like that sometimes! At least you have us to talk to - and as you can see we all stick up for each other

Suey - yes I didn't look at the MMR thread, totally agree with what you said about some of the people on MN but we're a nice bunch!

BouncingTurtle · 11/04/2008 18:13

Oh, went out with ds to meet my friend and her ds. Ds was really good, managed to feed him twice when we were out without him fussing and whinging and pulling off me! I even managed to eat a jacket spud with cottage cheese at the same time!

Wizzska · 11/04/2008 19:25

Lizzer - I second what you say about only posting an answer on AIBU. I think bored mums lurk there waiting for a fight or after gossip. There are some Mumsnetters not mentioning names who think they are funny and clever and others who are just a*seholes. Generally we're a good bunch though .

DS has been good today, have started trying to tackle this sleep problem with a two pronged attack. Tried the babyrice again today after giving it a rest for a week. He really liked it and moaned when I took the spoon away so will try again tomorrow.

The second way has been to let him settle on his own without putting his dummy back in. Very unpopular with him but he does settle after screaming for about 10 mins. I hate to listen and don't think I could do it if it lasted any longer than that. I hope we'll have breakthroughs soon. Last night was better sleep. Woke for a feed at 12.30 then didn't wake until 4.00. OK so he took an hour to settle after that but it was a bit better. Still knackered though, had a sleep this afternoon. Mum helped babysit.

clairey i vary on what to do. When i am weak, it is the dummy, sometimes if at home i put her in her room and turn off the monitor for 10 mins, if out i put her in the buggy.

AIBU threads- i'm with you wizz, but i do PMSL at some of them- the wanking one a couple of days back was hilarious

I too am trying to limit the dummy- she did all night without last night, and i have settled her tonight without it. She is finding her thumb more and more too. or her whole fist!

Caz10 · 11/04/2008 20:46

Evening all

Pecka you are wonderful, thanks SO much! The More Milk came in the 2nd post so I hadn't got them when I posted this morning. Thanks SO much. I will let you know how Operation Build-The-Milk-Stocks goes! Please email me your address and I will send you money to cover postage. I ordered the collection kits today so should be in business by next week!

I keep having panicky sweaty moments re going back to work - last night I just decided I COULDN'T do it...sadly not an option, but I just feel awful about it. The thought of DD being inconsolably upset just gets to me so much - sometimes it is only me who can calm her down, and I just think what will happen when I am not there? Trying to leave her with DH for longer periods of time in preparation. Yikes.

Going to scoot off as she is asleep and I am shattered - this 3hrly lark is tiring me out. She is so very punctual it makes me laugh (but not at 3am). Last night it was 9, 12, 3, 6. Yaaaaaawn.

Suey2 what was your MMR thread about? I can guess the gist I think?!! It's a bit scary sometimes outside of our little post-natal haven...although I've had brilliant help from the Bf-ing people, and going to start lurking on weaning soon. Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like waving when they see someone from here on another thread?!!

Caz10 · 11/04/2008 20:47

PS claireybee HOW gorg are your children?!

claraquitetirednow · 11/04/2008 21:02

Clairey - your two are so georgous - your dd has amazing eyes, the modelling agencies will be chasing you soon!

Caz - strangely enough, dd2 always seems to be really punctual with her wakings and feeds too, it always seems to be on the hour or on the half hour when she wakes up. Do you think they are watching the clock

Wizz - well done on not using the dummy, it is much harder but I am hoping it will be worth it in the long run! We are on day-two of giving her some baby rice and she seems to like it - she was really grabbing at the spoon. However she was ridiculously energetic this afternoon I am worried that the extra calories are making her hyper!

claraquitetirednow · 11/04/2008 21:10

RIGHT! Have finally managed to work out how to upload a photo onto my profile. I can't see a little profile icon to the right of my name but if you click on my name you should get onto my profile and be able to see my pic. I have had to upload it from pics take from my mobile phone (have failed every time to upload from digital camera pics, I think it is because they are too high resolution) and unfortunately the more recent ones have not yet been downloaded onto the computer. SO this pic was taken when Martha was tiny, just after she got back from hospital! Still at least it proves I do actually have children and am not an interloper!!!

claraquitetirednow · 11/04/2008 21:10

Oh the icon is there now....

BouncingTurtle · 11/04/2008 21:16

Yep I can see your pic, what gorgeous girls

suey2 · 11/04/2008 22:05

macdoo, ambi, thansk for support. I have finally realised that my participation was pointless. I must try and stay off those threads in future

cazzybabs · 11/04/2008 22:12

Caz for what it is worth when I went back to work after both the other dds I spent about a week in the loo crying during playtimes. But it does get better. My children are lovely (most of the time) and well adjusted (well I think so anyway)...yes it will be terrible for a short while but you will get use to it. Gosh I feel sad going back in Sept.

I guess what I am trying to say is I think what you are feeling is normal

Think of all those lovely holidays

MamaMaiasaura · 11/04/2008 22:24

amani to see lo has ear infection too. Samuel has ear infections too, horrid stinky stuff out of both ears (bright yellow). He has been everso clingy. Feeding been tricky as it hurts him to suckle but he is hungry and in pain so wants to suckle. BEen using calpol and giving him his antibiotics. Really hard on ds1 as his easter holidays and spet the entire week at home. Am not going ot brothers wedding tomorrow as baby poorly.

Have spent entire week feeling guilty for not giving ds1 the time he needs and wants. Basically been feeding, soothing, changing etc. Also no one else will do atm.

Clara - lovely pics

Have updated with some more recent pics on mine

cazzybabs · 11/04/2008 22:33

RGPargy · 11/04/2008 22:42

MamaMaiasaura · 11/04/2008 23:07

aw love th esmilie one. I havent managed to picture the big smiles yet. As soon as i try to take pic he stops grinning!

loucee · 11/04/2008 23:13

Hi everyone

Waves at RGPargy, I remember you posting before - welcome back

sorry you're having such a hard time Pecka, I echo what everyone else has said, you are doing an amazing job and it's normal to have down days. DS has days when he is really clingy and cries a lot and I find it really hard going and am so grateful for his quiet days!

Suey had a quick look on that thread - scary! Sorry you were treated like that, it is a very emotive subject but that's not excusing any of them! Shall we just call you Troll2 now . Think I walked past your parents house en-route to toddlers today (held at the Rankin), don't tell me your parents live in that gorgeous white house? Ohh fab if they do although all those houses have a lovely view over the park. What a prime location.

I think DS is teething as well, I can see some marks on his bottom gums and he has been knawing at his fists continuously. He found his thumb earlier today but favours sucking two fingers so I don't think he'll do it regularly.

Having to try the "naughty step" tactic with DD, she's tending to hit and pull hair when someone does something she doesn't like (in all fairness it's when someone is taking a toy off her or moving her out of the way so she is provoked) so that's quite hard work at the moment.

Did I mention I'd been back to the physio who confirmed I now have 2 fingers gap between my abs? I was pleased with that and it's motivated me that I can get a nice figure back at some point (was feeling disheartened that I'd always have a flabby ugly belly). How's everyone else doing who wanted to lose weight? BT I lost the thread you started about dieting, how's it going?

PeckaRolloverAgain · 12/04/2008 00:07

Hi all

Thanks so much for lovely comments, you will be pleased to know that I have put my violin down for now adn am feeling much better

I really felt dreadful this morning, and it scared me....

So, I summoned all of my strength and got all four of us dressed and drove out to country and went on a big, long walk through the woods with my three gorgeous kids. It was pissing down, hailstoning and like a mud bath but got out nice in the end and was so much fun. We were all covered in mud (except Princess Mathilda who remained dry and pink and gorgeous in her throne but slept for THREE HOURS in car on there, all the way round lake and woods and car on way back)

We were all rosey cheeked and happy when we came back, I went to best friends for tea and sympathy and managed to keep the happy vibe going, helped by kids being exercised and mathilda not overtired.

So today started off terribly and ended up well - hopefully tomorrow can be the same.

Thanks again so much

oh and im on my 2nd bottle, shared teh first with my sister earlier over a chinese but this ones for me, just one glass;)

oh and have bought aptimal easy digest to see if that helps her tummy any
