Oooops no room to link to old thread!

Lol at AQ forgetting that she is pg Sure the madness will pass. And don't worry about my chocolate supply, I live round the corner from Tesco

Jabber I think you should pop ds in the post and I'll sned him on holiday with all my clibing friends, they do similarly dangerous stunts on a larger scale. He'd have a ball

Hi All, Im happy to do the flylady thing...

Just got back from 5 weeks in South Africa, it was great to go home again, and I had so many people/family to introduce my girls too!...they loved the outdoor lifestyle so much, and now even more determined than ever to move to Oz.

DD1 had high temps on the flight(and then walking through Dubai airport had a horrific nose bleed, so i had people running around trying to get me things!

Ambi on the other hand is into absolutely everything, climbs everything and a proper adrenaline junkie!

jabberwocky · 09/04/2008 19:51

Definitely a cute stage atm. Ds2 is starting to try out a few new words and it is just adorable He can be a little imp, though. He loves grabbing something that he knows he shouldn't have and then rushing off with it. He always pauses just long enough to make sure you've seen him first, lol.

Have just found a photographer who will come to the house and do photos of the boys dh has no idea I've booked this but I am determined to do annual photos of the boys whether he likes it or not. It somehow offended his artistic sensibilities that I had studio portraits done last year instead of letting him do his own thing - which he is perfectly fine to do if he likes, as far as I'm concerned but he rarely gets the camara out these days

We have our big trip to the post-polio clinic in a few days and I am sooo hoping that they can put dh on some type of meds that will help his chronic pain. I know he doesn't feel well but it's tough to deal with day in and day out IYKWIM.

FGS, glad to hear you are continuing to improve! Our oldest ones sound very similar. Ds1 picks up on all sorts of things that surprise me.

eli, so sorry about dd2 being unwell again. Are you using the breathing treatments?

jabberwocky · 09/04/2008 19:51

PS - lennied, you've inspired me with the bed success. I may put ds2 staight into a toddler bed when we move into the new house.

babypowder · 09/04/2008 20:35

Jabber, I keep promising myself that I'll get professional photos of the kids done. I must just do it. I didn't realise that your DH had had polio - was this as a child or an adult? (You've probably explained this to me before) My cousin had it as a child and still suffers terribly

Calm, welcome back! Your holiday sounds just perfect. I bet your LOs charmed and impressed all your friends and relations.

Eli, sorry to hear about DD2. She doesn't have it easy.

DD2 took her first independent steps today. She just let go of the couch and walked 5 steps over to me. I'm so proud

accessorizequeen · 09/04/2008 20:59

Welcome back Eli & Calm. What's this about moving to Oz, calm? Hope dd2's breathing improves now that you're back, Eli. What was the outcome re: asthma?

I would def. put ds2 in a bed a lot sooner than I did with ds1 (although he sleeps like the dead just to save my back. Plus now bump's a bit bigger, it's hard to actually lean over (can't lower the dratted thing as it stuck years ago). Can't wait to have em in bunkbeds!

jabber, sorry not to have replied to ur email. Yes, I suspect you're absolutely right, I just haven't had a day free in weeks to actually take him to the drs! ds2 had his jabs (MMR & pneumococcal?) today, they came to me which was v.helpful. It's only around the corner! When are you moving to your new house?

BP, congrats hugely on dd2, I am so excited about the prospect of ds2 doing it (please god, do it soon!) that I can imagine your joy. I cried buckets with ds1. He now stands on his own if I put him down anyway most of the time, so he must be getting there.

FGS, v.glad to hear that you're getting on ok (tho poor little dd1!) and I hope the end result is less pain for you.

lennied, btw, I have 2 december babies and it's not the worst thing in the world! No way of planning really. I was kinda hoping for a summer one this time but oh well. Won't you have passed that point now anyway if you got a positive (whatever that term is!)?

Indith, how are reception plans?

accessorizequeen · 09/04/2008 21:00

sorry welcome back margo too!

And I've love to get some professional shots, dp is v.v.good but camera (which was a fortune!) never appears. dressed them in lovely matching outfits for the wedding, not a single nice shot of either of them. ds1 hid under the chair for the duration of the (civil) ceremony saying 'i want mummy' (I was a witness)!!

LenniEd · 09/04/2008 21:54

AQ - not pregnant this time, bit disappointed actually, although we didn't want another Dec baby really. Think we'll try properly this month

We've had family portraits done professionally and are so pleased we had them. Gave copies to all the family for Xmas. They are fantastic, definately do it, it's worth it although expensive as they all end up so good you want to buy loads. They scan really well though so you can copy them easily.

DD in the bed again tonight. Not moving her into the cot tonight as went to Ikea for a bed guard today. She seems happy in there and I'll be glad to see the back of the cot. She looks soooo cute its untrue. Makes me really proud to see my proper little grown up girl in her bed...also makes me broody for another little one though

BP - congrats on the walking, its lovely when they do something new, makes all the hard work worthwhile to share those special moments.

Elibean · 09/04/2008 22:13

Just had time for fast read - v impressed at walking LOs, congrats baby BP

No time to respond, but feel a bit more up to speed - so much going on! Emigration, pregnancies, weddings.....love it.

Thanks for wishes and commiserations, confess to being at end of tether with the nights - dd2 worse each day since weekend, I dread the nights and they're weirdly isolating, as no one but dh and I see/hear dd2 in that state. She's not so bad during the day. We actually woke her up and took her downstairs at 3am last night to check her colour, because her breathing was so blocked. Yes, Jabber, we're using steroid inhaler as well as salbutamol, also used up leftover steroid syrup (from Barbados illness), she's now on Amoxycillin, and the usual reflux meds plus Medised....plus humidifier on full blast two feet from her face...

Sorry to go on, it does feel good to get it off my chest though - leaves more room for dd to lie on it, IYSWIM.

Hope to post more cheerfully, and at more leisure, tomorrow!

Elibean · 09/04/2008 22:14

ps don't think its asthma, really, just her blasted larynx flopping around and full of mucous and inflammation. Time will tell.

accessorizequeen · 09/04/2008 22:32

Sorry Lennied I'm sure you'll get lucky soon!

Does sound v.isolating elibean, the kind of nights you think you're rid of after 3 or 4 months at the start Does diet play any part or I suppose you would have already considered that along with meds etc. Anyway, feel free to come on here and get it off your chest any time!

ds2 is v.cute at present too, I notice new things everyday. I took off my boots last night in the bathroom and then wandered around for a bit with socks on. I hear noises from my bedroom and go to investigate - ds has liberated my favourite red shoes from the very top of my shoe holder thingy and is holding them out for me to put on. I expect him to meet dp at the door any day now with his slippers I"m sure if ds1 didn't talk SO much and SO loudly I'd figure out what some of the noises mean.

jabberwocky · 10/04/2008 00:42

bp, he had it as an infant and it didn't seem as if he had any problems from it until he hit puberty. Then one foot became obviously smaller than the other. He still fared pretty well until adulthood and then he developed "post-polio syndrome". It's still not totally understood but patients can have symptoms as bad as or worse than the initial episode. Dh falls into the latter camp. He has gotten increasingly worse since ds2 was born and I'm just at my wit's end. We drive 6 hours on Sunday to the clinic and he will go through tests all day on Monday. It's a really historic clinic that was first started by President Roosevelt who was also a polio survivor so if anyone can help him they should be able to.

Indith · 10/04/2008 10:22

Sorry to hear about your dh Jabber, hope the clinic trip goes well.

Eli Best wishes for improvement.

Welcome back Calm!

Well done baby BP

AQ plans are improving thanks! The Beverley War Memorial Hall is available and although not the prettiest place you can apparently put a marquee up inside it! Odd but sounds good to me! Ds 2 sounds very cute, bet when he starts talking properly he will give his brother some stiff competition

Lennied bed sounds so grown up! Adorable but grown up!

Ds was up at 4, and then 5.30 and didn't really go back to sleep

FunkyGlassSocks · 10/04/2008 10:40

Aaargh, I wrote a huge post with individual replies to everyone and DD2 deleted it .

So here are baybysteps day 4 and a quick message to Eli to say I hope Baby Bean improves soon - mjust be very frightening when she's like that in the middle of the night...

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 10/04/2008 11:43

Oh Eli - The middle of the night is such a lonely time, I quite agree. I do hope that she improves very soon. You don't imagine that it could go on for so long (or that you would still be sane).

Lennied - wow, a bed. I can remember procrastinating about putting dd1 into a bed and if it was too early but she adap3ted really quickly.

I had the first dose of fake crying from dd2 yesterday. I told her not to tip up her cup over the floor (my disciplinary voice doesn't seem to register normally) and kept looking at her sternly. She started off with a whimper and stuck her bottom lip out. So, so funny. She would be ideal as a cast member of Acorn Antiques!

Elibean · 10/04/2008 11:47

Thanks

She had one bad episode from about 1 till 3am, then settled till 7am and seems a lot brighter today... no temp...maybe ABs are kicking in

Am SO ready for summer.

Now I can set about catching up with you all...have some reading to do, eh...

Elibean · 10/04/2008 11:49

Margo, at fake crying - dd2 has just learnt to say 'NO' in very determined fashion and can do the most tragic 'MAMAMAMAMMMMM' when thwarted. Bottom lip, so far, is reserved for when she's scared by one of dd1's DVDs and comes rushing to find me - on all fours - with tears in her eyes. God, they're so sweet at this age, aren't they?

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 10/04/2008 12:02

Yes

accessorizequeen · 10/04/2008 12:17

awww at margo's dd! Once I got used to them, I'm starting to find the 'throw myself on the floor & check to see if mummy's watching' wailing tantrum quite funny. He gets over it in 10 seconds once I've stepped over him! I'm also loving the tilted head on my shoulder whenever he's a bit shy or uncertain, he pats me on the back too!

glad you had a better night, eli, long may it continue!

indith, not quite sure where memorial hall is, is it in the square or the one as you come into bev? Anything can be decorated up to look good. at ever having 100 people to my reception, dp would faint with horror!

LenniEd · 10/04/2008 14:44

Quick hello. DD slept all night in her bed Have just finished dismantling the cot and her room looks enormous now.

Sorry to hear you've been having problems Eli, hope things improve and DD better soon.

All these cute stories are making me . I also find the tantrums quite funny AQ, unfortunately though all my (childless) friends and relatives think I am a dreadful mother for not attending to my distressed child , she also recovers if I step over her

LOL at fake crying Margo! DD does loads of OOOOOOOOOooooohhhss at the moment if she sees anything remotely interesting. V cute.

jabberwocky · 10/04/2008 15:00

eli, glad dd2 is better.

margo, belated welcome back!

calm, the trip sounds wonderful! I somehow missed that you had plans and wondered where you had gone off to

ds2 is really good at the throwing himself on the floor tantrum, lol. I once got told off by aloha b/c I posted that I just laughed it off when ds1 did it It does work though.

LenniEd · 10/04/2008 15:06

I should add - I am selective about which ones I ignore. I only ignore the "I'm having a strop because I think it will get me what I want" tantrums, I don't ignore the frustrated ones.

eternalstudent · 10/04/2008 15:12

How bizarre. My name is also Eli and I aslo call DD baby bean and she is the same age. Are you me Elibean? Have I just discovered I am schizophrenic??

accessorizequeen · 10/04/2008 16:06

I got glared at by several people on the weekend as ds threw a tantrum on the floor of the cafe when we stopped at motorway services. I let him ride it out and carried on eating my sandwich. But he wouldn't go in his highchair or stay on my lap so what was I meant to do? He was hungry and frustrated but wouldn't let me help him so I left him to it - 2 mins later back on my lap happily munching a sandwich!
The horrible thing about having 2 (or more, god help me) is I have to ignore some of ds2's frustration as I am already dealing with ds1. I found that v.v.hard for several months.

bebespain · 10/04/2008 21:02

Hi all

Been having a hectic week with not much time for MN. DS has been climbing the walls, its literally been raining non-stop all week so we´ve been incarcerated. Poor DS keeps going to the door and asking in his own special way to go outside

Its set to improve tomorrow so park here we come

Eli - sorry to hear what a tough time you´ve been having (the nights are so damn hard) but glad DD2 is feeling better and hope she continues to do so

FGS - glad you´re on the road to recovery, keep it up

Indith - can relate to the prodding of nose, eyes etc DS is doing that all the time at the mo. The funniest is when he comes right up close and presses his nose to mine and then bursts out laughing - I love that! No luck with the mini-hob nobs yet but the search goes on....

Elibean · 10/04/2008 23:06

eternalstudent, you're not me, but you may be dd1 - she's Eli as well as bean

Actually, wouldn't be at all surprised to find dd1 on MN masquerading as a Mum. She told me very seriously yesterday that 'now I'm older, do you know Mummy, I'm very interested in my baby' (doll, obviously) and has taken to wearing jeans and white t-shirts on the grounds that most of the Mums around here do that. Apart from me, that is

dd2 is definitely much better, up to all her usual tricks during the day, but is totally bunged up and coughing non-stop now lying down I loathe the nights, I really do.

Bebespain, am sending you some Londony sunshine vibes - unusual to be sending those to Spain, eh?!
