Needed a new thread...

DD2 is much better today, she ate some fruity toast for her tea last night and loved it. And it didn't reappear an hour later either!
Have been to a mnmeet in Harrogate today, DD2 is starting to enjoy play dates now, especially this one as there was a fantastic baby section for her to play in!

Dolbear,

Just expressing empathy on the sleep front. Ds is being a right little sod at the moment (aren't I the caring mummy..) - waking up usually about 1.00 am for no apparent reason and refusing to go back to sleep - I think he expects me to get up and play with him for a couple of hours.

Not very proud of myself in the early hours this morning - called him some very rude names, and left him crying in his cot for ages.... Shut the door to muffle the noise he was making and went to sleep.... I really ought to be doing text book controlled crying

TracyK · 10/01/2005 11:18

I don't have backache - but v. bad posture - really feel hunched over.
ds is much better today - although still woke at 4am for some milk.
Almost walking but still a bit crap at eating - will eat most things but seems to get bored after 4 or 5 spoonfuls - so I have to have about 4 'courses' for him to have as he gets bored with each one. Typical bloke - short attention span!

dolbear · 10/01/2005 11:32

HMC - I no exactly what you mean ! I did not leave ds to cry , b-cos my temper would not hold it ! , but I did give him a good talking to , I think that his is comfort food as opposed to play-time , so am giving him water between 11-4 am and milk if he wakes after that hoping to push that back to 5 then six gradualy
cos this 2-4-6-7 is not working

is it poss that he is missing dh , thus being pain in backside or is he too little to no that he is not here course don't suppose wind storms helped either

and I thought that crawling and cruising was supposed to mean that they slept more ??

pants , pants , pants

dot1 · 10/01/2005 16:13

ds is back to waking up at 6am after a lovely couple of weeks sleeping until past 7am... And this is since he's started crawling aswell. Honestly, he couldn't be more tired when he goes to bed - what more can we do????

Grrrrr.....

LucyJones · 10/01/2005 16:45

Still no crawling here from ds!! He is off his food at the moment and was sick about 4 times yesterday. Poor thing. Does anyone else find it really hard to cope with their lo when they have a cold and feel shitty or am i just a wimp? In my defence I think I've had the flu as over the weekend I was all achey and going hot and cold but I just can't imagine how people cope with more than one when they feel crappy! It doesn't help I have no family living nearby I guess (sorry to be a moany moo!)

LucyJones · 10/01/2005 18:20

Just been to the doctors and ds has got an ear infection. Poor little thing!

lunavix · 10/01/2005 18:24

LucyJones - snap for our household. ds has had a permanent cold for ages poor thing and I'm coming down with something with the hot/cold flushes and being sooooooo tired. I keep trying to plead him not to screech too loudly

Thank heavens he's not crawling forwards yet, I can't keep up with his speeds backwards as it is.

Fennel · 10/01/2005 21:50

I agree being ill and having to look after babies is just grim. lucyjones - ear infections are awful aren't they? dd1 had one at this time of year and she was off form for about a month. is ds on antibiotics?

It sounds as though it's not just bf to blame for backache then but having babies whatever you do with them. not sure it gets better when they're walking though in terms of backache - this current phase of mine was set off by giving my 3yo a piggyback.

I just looked at the album myself - must have just whisked in before password changed. Your April babies are just lovely. Such lovely wispy hair a lot of them have! has nobody still got a baldy like me?

handlemecarefully · 11/01/2005 15:24

Spots - bald is more authentically baby!

LucyJones · 11/01/2005 18:40

Thanks everyone. Yes Fennel ds is on antibiotics and they said he seemed quite happy at nursery although off his food a bit. Went into work today and still felt crappy but it wasn't as bad as I thought. Can't wait for the spring weather to come (I know it will be weeks but still!) cos I'm feeling really blue.

dolbear · 11/01/2005 18:48

odd people ??!!
nasty threads ?? !!
whats becoming of our little world
mind i seem to have missed the whole thing as usual

Fennel · 11/01/2005 19:19

the internet is a big nasty place! sometimes I wonder how many people are there lurking away. not that I have much to hide - if I was making up an identity I would have a far more enviable life

handlemecarefully · 11/01/2005 22:32

LucyJones,

Spring may be a way off, but the daffodils and snowdrops will be out soon, plus crocuses. That always cheers me up

dolbear - I've missed all the nasty threads aswell! I only have time to keep up with this thread, and the occasional scout around a few others - but I always miss the ones where all the arguments happen...!

Meanwhile ds is being completely gorgeous at the moment - loves playing "where's Mummy's nose" - I say it and he's getting quicker and quicker at grabbing my nose..!! Always cheers him and me up!

Fennel · 12/01/2005 17:05

not sure if this has been asked already but how many babies have had 8 month checks? my other two did but we haven't been called in for one for dd3 - I just wondered, is the practice changing on this? or are we just out of the system for non-attendance at health visitor clinics?

lunavix · 12/01/2005 17:10

ds had his a while ago, when he was still 7 months. Maybe they were getting the bulk out of the way because of the holiday season?

Still no crawling, but this first tooth is pushing through. ds's become terribly clingy, he has to be at least touching me, preferrably sitting on me being cuddled.

Does anyone else's lo's wake up screaming too? ds is fine in the morning, he'll gurgle and play for about 15 minutes before starting to grizzle (which will turn into a full out roar if not addressed quick enough!) But every time he wakes from a nap he's full on screaming, and hysterical.

dolbear · 12/01/2005 19:19

lunavix , yep if he wakes up in the middle of the night - you'd think that the bogey man had said boo
ds trying to climb the stairs at the mo and is clingy to dh as he thinks he is going to disappear again gone off his food again , not sure why , can see no toothys and all else seems ok , have decided not to push and figure he will come to me when hungry

hewlettsdaughter · 12/01/2005 20:38

I have been wondering the same re 8 month checks Fennel - dd hasn't been called for hers yet.
Re backache etc, I remember when I had ds I was surprised at how physical having a child was (I don't mean childbirth - obviously that's physical! - but all the bending down, carrying around etc). Am re-discovering this since having dd.
YG - completely agree re the dark mornings - roll on spring. LucyJones - hope you are feeling better.

dolbear · 12/01/2005 21:50

re 8 mths check we have not been called in for them either does this mean that they do not exisist then ?
I have asked for hospital eye check for ds as both dh and I are blind as bats , have not heard anything on that either
b-4 i was pg , i went to the nhs every 6 mths for pill re-fill and that was it and now I know why , everything is so tedious - ( no offence ) but as my US friends tel me I should be v grateful - so I guess I am

dot1 · 13/01/2005 08:50

ds has just had his 8 month check - we got sent the appointment in the post, so they must still exist..! Passed all his tests, bless him - they seemed to do loads more tests than ds1 had in London, and we got a copy of the report in ds2's red book, which we didn't get wtih ds1. It all seems to be v. different depending on where you live.

TracyK · 13/01/2005 11:34

I noticed last night that it stayed lighter a little bit later than normal - maybe spring is a coming??
ds is back on form now - v. happy little boy. although he doesn't nap at nursery until 12 mid day - just before I go to pick him up - so he only has 40 mins in the am and wants 1.5 hrs about 3.30pm. He's waking between 5 and 6 am and I'm sure it's because he has such a late nap in the afternoon. But I can't do much about it unless the nursery can get him to have an earlier nap in the morning.

MrsDoolittle · 13/01/2005 13:57

Funny you should say that Tracy. My work colleague and I said that to each other last night as we left work.
