Needed a new thread...

DD2 is much better today, she ate some fruity toast for her tea last night and loved it. And it didn't reappear an hour later either!
Have been to a mnmeet in Harrogate today, DD2 is starting to enjoy play dates now, especially this one as there was a fantastic baby section for her to play in!

I feel the same LJ - ds has different naps each day really - but I think maybe it depends on the quality of his night sleeping. He's had a tickly cough for a while now and although it doesn't wake him in the night - I'm sure it must disturb his sleeping a bit. He's at nursery 2 mornings a week just now - so he can catch up with his sleep other days (as he doesn't sleep at all at nursery) - but after xmas he's going 5 mornings. SO who knows what will happen to his napping then.
On average he has a long nap for about 2 hours - then a shorter nap for 1 hour. But on nursery days prob only 1.5-2hrs max.

LucyJones · 19/12/2004 18:54

thanks Tracy. I'll probably regret saying this but i think it will be easier when he just needs one nap a day!!

yulettsdaughter · 20/12/2004 08:02

No routine with naps here. DD tends to nap in the buggy when out and about with the childminder.

wrapmefestively · 20/12/2004 08:53

Ds naps for 30 mins around 2 hours after he gets up, 1 hour at lunch time, and 30 mins at circa 17.00. Fortunately the late afternoon nap doesn't seem to stop him from settling down for the night at 19.00.

We're having a crap time with ds at the moment. He hasn't eaten for 8 days, and has been sick for the whole of that time. Firstly he had a 24 hour tummy bug, recovered from that and then started being sick as a consequence of a rotten cold and cough that he can't seem to shake off. I have to give him bottles of milk with a towel on my lap next to him to catch the ensuing vomit (happens roughly 50% of the time), and take a change of clothes everywhere we go.

LucyJones · 20/12/2004 08:59

sorry to hear ds has been unwell wrapmefestively. Quick question - are all those naps spent in the cot?

wrapmefestively · 20/12/2004 09:05

Yes usually for morning and late afternoon nap. Lunch time nap is sometimes in the car seat when we are on the move.

dollsandbears · 20/12/2004 09:54

pants - just lost wot i wrote
WMF - sorry 2 hear that u hve had a bad time , this hopefully will mean that all will b better 4 xmas

YG - bless u , we hve given up worrying about injury here as ds seems to bang something and yell the hse down at least once a day , just starting 2 get up on knees and stand , looses balance and - bang , also 2 nosey !!

xmas just got even MORE tricky as dad has just anounced that he is going 2 tenerife now ! great !
honestly this yr I think that my family think that they r on some kind of soap , apart from ds I will b v glad 2 c the back of 2004 !
either that or divorce family !

HMC sorry you are having a hard time. after reading your post the other day about sleeping in the baby's sick, I thought "at least I haven't ever quite done that". and that night did exactly the same thing - dd3 is posseting her feeds back up due to a cold as well.

dd3 has about 3 short naps a day - a cat-napper. generally in her car seat or buggy, so it doesn't really make any different whether she has one or several - can you tell we're not a routine-led household?

dolbear - your family sounds much more fun than mine and Dp's families.

TheFennelandtheIvy · 20/12/2004 10:35

except, HMC, I still haven't actually stripped the bed yet, as it's the spare bed.
even more gross.

dot1 · 20/12/2004 11:45

ds has 2 naps a day - strictly an hour each time! One at about 9.30am and one at about 2pm. We've found that if we limit him to just an hour each time (we usually have to wake him up) he sleeps much better at night - he's finally sleeping until about 6.30am/7am!! (well, this morning was the 5th morning of just this, so it's early days...). He still wakes up at 5am, but just has a bit of a chat to himself and goes back off - phew!!!

wrapmefestively · 20/12/2004 12:01

Car seats - can anyone remember when they can go into stage 2 forward facing car seats? Is it about now?

TheFennelandtheIvy · 20/12/2004 12:40

Something between 9 and 15 months depending on size of baby and your preference?

dd3 is now big enough but I'm finding the smaller seat easier still as she often sleeps in it so we can hoick her around more easily in it than in the big one.

it's snowing here! would be but am at work with bike 5 miles from home, so have a cold wet ride home to contemplate. still, snow would be fun.

LucyJones · 20/12/2004 12:44

wow snow! we are just very frosty and sunny today. Glad everyone is having roughly the same naps then. This morning ds had about 10 minutes in his pushchair (I think the christmas lights were too exciting!) so I've just put him down after his lunch. He's all red cheeked too - he's got loads of teeth coming through at the top all at the same time, poor thing...

MrsDoobaubles · 20/12/2004 13:30

Funny you should say that HMC We have just bought a second car seat this weekend. Its a Maxi-cosi priori, forward facing only. Very nice though.

yulettsdaughter · 20/12/2004 19:26

Fennel, how was the bike ride?

TheFennelandtheIvy · 20/12/2004 20:36

YD - the bike ride was truly horrible. through more snow falling, all slushy and freezing. ugh.

still, it's mulled wine and xmas pudding season so i have cheered up somewhat

dd3 now crawling! I know some april babies have been crawling for months but it's new to us - will have to dig out the stairgate again.

yulettsdaughter · 20/12/2004 20:43

Wahey Fennel! (re the crawling). Though the crawling April babies are quite early crawlers aren't they?
Anyone else found that once their ds/dd starts crawling they get much more tired? DD was spark out at 7 tonight, which is early for her.

Ummm - ds is 20 lbs (though how long he will remain so if he keeps vomiting remains to be seen!) so I think I'll get a 2nd stage seat. From what I recall car journeys with dd were transformed when she got a 2nd stage seat, and could see forwards rather than being forced to contemplate the contours and fabric of the back seat.

TracyK · 20/12/2004 21:42

ds slept till 8.00am this morning! blooming typical tho - I was awake from 5.30am when dh left for work. Thought - not much point in going back to sleep as ds would surely wake soon. bah! had to take him to nursery in his babygro as no time to get him dressed and fed and to work for 8.30.
ds has started walking with his push along walker thingy. going qiute fast - a bit scarey to watch!

MerryMetrobaby · 20/12/2004 21:43

well the MB household have just returned from our holidays. It was nice to get away and I saw my PIL, and the rest of DH's family. However am now rushing around as I still have pressies to wrap etc.

ds starts his new nursery this week. I've got my part time hours (hurrah) so I'm happy. I'm not returning though until after xmas. I feel sad leaving my baby though. ds is still not quite there with crawling. He goes on his front and kind of shuffles, gets fed up and then rolls to whereever he wants to go.

chuffed - it was nice to meet you on the meetup. Will look forward to hearing about your trip to NZ . Mrs D how did your meetup go?

TheFennelandtheIvy · 22/12/2004 10:28

Metrobaby -was your holiday somewhere exciting? does your dh come from SE Asia (or is that someone else?).

yorkiegirl - hope you are all better in time for christmas.

We are off on holiday tonight - to a cottage in the new forest so I will be offline for about 10 days.

dd3 doesn't seem to mind travelling backwards in the car with no view - she's so easygoing it's untrue.

yulettsdaughter · 22/12/2004 11:44

Metrobaby - what hours will you be working?

Happy Christmas Fennel and anyone else who will be offline for the duration
