Tilly - Emmas not moving either. Will only roll one way and once. Will stand-ish with me holding really tight, but crawling a no no.

At my mother and baby group today there were two little girls one 9 months (crawling, sitting herself up and almost walking) and one 6 months doing the same. What are the feeding them???

Had a terrible day, got my two buses to take Emma to mother and baby, then she deceided to scream blue murder at the other babies, she was so frightened, then tried to give her her milk... screaming again. Guess we'll be staying at home next time.

LG&T - poor little Beau and dh. Hope you all better soon.

M2LB - NYC Oooooo yes please, if only!!

Big hi to everyone from up north

cinnamontam · 12/02/2008 19:23

Sorry to hear of the various bugs, rashes and spots afflicting babes and mums

Any news Scoot?

AbbyLou · 12/02/2008 20:07

LG&T we are obviously meant to suffer together - inevitable Ruby now has chickenpox! Yesterday she got a horrible pin prick rash all over but was perfectly well. I took her to the walk-in centre ahd they said it was a viral rash even though she is perfectly well. They said it looked worse because she has excema. Anyway, tonight at bath time she has got definite red spots on top of the other 2 rashes that are on her back and tummy and are almost certainly chickenpox. She could have waited until half term! Luckily the in-laws are very good and they think they can have her for the next 3 days. If she was ill with it one of us would have to have time off but she is happier than she has been in ages! Hope your dh and B are better soon.

scootermum · 12/02/2008 20:22

Hi all,

Yes news! They have given me a job right opposite my old one, managing a smaller service than my old one, (but one which I actually set up when it opened so I know it pretty well).Becuase its smaller though they have given me some hefty extra duties, basically training all 700 care staff on various things, which am not thrilled about but hey ho..and also managing another service but from a distance, (in Finchley actually, so will expect lunch at TYG's on a reg basis as will have to go there once a fortnight or so ).They were very apologetic and crawly which was good..also they have got most of my RMA accredited so I just need to have a talk with the verifier and it should pass..which is a huge relief..

So all good really..except now I realise that I have to go back to work for real in a week and a half and I really dont want to at all..I just love my life at home with the babies too much..

Also managed to blow £100 in Hammersmith Primark on way home..oops..

Thanks all for your support during all this-you are all lovely as ever..mwah mwah

Yes London meet up!But in the next week and a half please or else on a Friday which is my day off

Sorry to hear of all bugs and what not

Big hello to everyone as have only time to skim..

Feel a bit like largegandt must feel every day tonight as have had 6 2 year olds and M here today (for some reason I offered to have half the toddlers group round to mine as it is half term and the actual group wasnt on)I compounded this madness by saying the Mums could leave the kids to play if they liked and have the afternoon off, (which all but one did)and that we would do messy play as my kitchen is being done in 2 weeks so it didnt really matter what got painted or coloured in.The result is am covered in paint and play doh and bubble mix, (which was meant to be for outside but it didnt entireley work out like that)and so is everything in the house, most of which doesnt matter, but have to go and see about the sofa as that is staying and is currently sporting some lovely red paint on one of the cushions..am going to 1001 troubleshoot it before DH gets home and goes mad!

Have also just spotted some lovely blue squiggles on the French windows..oh oh..

Scoot so pleased to hear good news not bad from you although I understand the dread feeling of going back to work at all. Damn straight they should have crawled to you....

AbbyLou · 12/02/2008 21:40

Scoot - great news! Well done you for standing your ground. At least you won't have that horrible commute you were dreading. Sounds like your house was madness today. I have 2 pretty awful BEd Year 1 students with me at the mo and my classroom looked like that today!!
Just 1 question though - how exactly do you spend £100 in Primark? You must have bought half the shop!!

Lupins71 · 13/02/2008 06:55

Abbey - me and mum managed to blow £350 in primark the other week lol, we did get some rather lovely throws and cushions, we even had to get dp to collect 1st 8 bags then we went in again lol!!

Got my "crap" as dp calls it sorted in the garage last night and some more of dd's room done, will get some more done today and dp is doing tip runs, have my mate coming over with her 22 month old which is interesting even when we are not in complete chaos lol

Arlen actually managed a whole night in his cot yipeeeeee, he's in for a shock when he's banished to his own room hehehe

AM YOU ARE A STAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [GRIN][GRIN][GRIN] my waist is truly rounder, Willow was well chuffed you remembered the sprinkles, Arlen looked like he was in heaven, and I think we have finally convinced dp that all my mumsnet buddies arent axe wielding fruitcakes, thanks again (wipes choc shavings from chops, while liking the box)

OMG am i really moving in a few days

TillyScoutsmum · 13/02/2008 09:39

Hi all

Scoot - well done on getting your job sorted and your Primark blow out

Nat - sorry about M&T's... I really need to start going to some but they all seem to be on when T normally naps and she'll be hell on earth if I take her without her sleep. Need to get out more though. Fed up of wandering round the local shopping centre spending money I don't have and having in depth conversations with any poor old dear who politely coos over T.

Lups - hope the packing is going well

LG&T - hope dh and Beau aren't suffering too much.

Abby - ditto Ruby

I'm exhausted today. This nasty cold that T has got is making her sleep even worse than normal. Took ages to get her down and then we were awake from 3.30-5.30 am this morning Also had a row with dp at 4 am- always the best time to try and get your point across sensibly

largeginandtonic · 13/02/2008 10:13

Nat persevere, she will get used to it. It really is the best thing you can do as a mommy. It will save your sanity

Abby oh no! Hope she is still ok? B is a bit grumpy but not too spotty. He only has about 20 spots in all. Poor dh on the other hand is COVERED he looks like a giant spot. Bless him, he is feeling not too bad now though, just itchy!

Cam when does all your stuff arrive?

Scoot what goos news about the job! I am sorry you dont want to go back to work my lovely. I do feel for you Lunch at TYG's will be good, you will get to snuggle a newbie there soon too! You are MAD looking after all those 2 year olds, i thought 2 was plenty...

Just waiting for Hug's pox to come out now, ho hum...

twelveyeargap · 13/02/2008 11:12

Don't forget the bicarb trick LG&T. Feel SO sorry for you having to look after all the sick people.

Scoot, great news about the job - sort of! Obviously it would have been better if they'd offered you £100K to go away quietly, but this is the next best thing. You can pop in any time.

Lupins, hope you're managing the packing ok. I HATE moving house, so I feel for you.

Julie - your flat is fab. I think people are just taking their time at the moment, because there's not such a rush on the market and they don't feel like they need to make an offer on the spot. It's really lovely so I'm sure something will happen soon.

Speaking of houses, some joker has put another house a couple of doors down our terrace on at an even more stupid price. They've somehow squeezed a 7th bedroom in where our top bathroom is. Must be tiny. Can't see how it would add a huge amount to the value. I'd LOVE to go and view the two houses that are up for sale. I'm SO nosy. Reckon I just might get caught out - given that I walk past these places on a daily basis. Dammit. I asked DH if he thought the neighbours would let me have a look round if I told them I wanted to see the original layout of the houses (ours had been previously split into flats), but he thinks not. Bugger.

cameroonmama · 13/02/2008 11:36

Scoooooot That is such good news, well done. I'm so glad they realised they just weren't treating you right. at the having to go back to work though. I keep putting off looking for a job...

Nat and Tilly, I am with LG&T, stick with the toddler groups, soon they and you will get used to it, even if it is nap time, the babies found it was just too exciting to complain about not sleeping and you will even start looking forward to the cake and biscuits company.

LG&T, we are taking a minimalist approach - the stuff doesn't arrive in Mombasa until March 4th at the earliest and even then it may take a month to get through the port and customs So I am hoping that perhaps it'll come during the Easter hols (which are for a whole month here). In the meantime I have shopped for curtain material and am redoing all the curtains for next to nothing as the material is cheap and so is the labour and am hoping that the curtains match everything else when it all arrives!

Sorry for poor N and his spots, how awful. How will it affect your ttc? CP can affect a man's fertility can't it? Or is that just shingles? I'll do some research... Strangely enough I met a twenty something girl here, newly arrived, no kids, not in contact with any kids and lo and behold, gets CP! Fingers crossed Hugs gets it soon.

Lets hope Ruby and Beau are not too disturbed by it all.

Lupins71 · 13/02/2008 11:48

Hmmmm no boxes yet packed today- but have just bought 5 rolls of tape, dd's teacher a present and the teaching assistants and the ladies in the office (dd loves them all), and some new uniform for new school, and some laundry balls apparently you put them in the dryer instead of fabric conditioner - have heard good things about them if they are crap then i will just give them to my mum lol she is very into natural cleaning products

juliewoolie · 13/02/2008 13:08

Hi all,

scoot am so relieved for you I know you would prefer not to work but at least you dont have to treck to the other side of London.

LG&T god chicken pox and men bet you are downing copious amounts of gin this week. Good Luck.

TYG there is another flat in our block up for sale too. Ridiculous price would love to go and have a nosy but DP wont let me.

LUPS you are crazy hope your DP is helping with the packing or keeping the LO's out from under your feet.

Lots of no itching thoughts to Ruby Beau and Mr lg&t.

Still no movement on the house front

But good news on the monster he has started to crawl - hurrah well it was hurrah until I found him chewing DP's charger cable for his laptop removed it quick smart only for DP to get home from work and I dont know how but his charger wouldnt work, oops. £60 later for a new one.

Scoot tyg mailed you about meeting up, also TAM mail me and lets organise something with us all. [email protected]

mom2latinoboys · 13/02/2008 13:26

Hello all. It is a nasty day today with snow, rain, and ice.

LG&T I hope that the illness soon leaves your house. I sent an e-mail yesterday, I hope it made you laugh a little.

Well I have to go rescue Mateo from the bathroom. He's become obsessed with putting toilet paper in and flushing, than washing his hands. If only I could figure out a way for him to use the potty . He's got 3 out of the 4 steps down though.

anneme · 13/02/2008 19:29

hello everyone - and welcome to newbies. I was all set to post but have not been on for a week and have taken ages to catch up so might not actually say anything interesting...no change.
S had his 9 month check today and I was able to take him because I am on half term which was really nice.
Cam - love your pic of new house - makes me feel quite homesick for when we lived in Africa.
LGandT - piriton rocks with chicken pox - and is particularly good because they feel they are getting lots of medicine

scootermum · 13/02/2008 19:43

Hi Anneme, long time no see

Evening all..well got the paint off the couch, but not off the windows..DH hasnt seen it yet as have had curtains shut but he is off tomorrow to come to M's dicky hip appointment so will have another go at it now..its the blue- its like ruddy dye!Washable my arse!

KK's!!Now theres something we havent had for a while on here..could just eat a custard one now..and all ive got is some steamed salmon and a bit of Miso soup..booo!Good luck with your move Lups

What did I buy Abby?Well the obligatory 10 pairs of knickers natch, plus 5 tops and a frock and some bits for the girls..they have really lovely girls things in at the moment and you cant argue with the prices when it will only end up covered in mud/paint etc..(and thats just the things for me!)

Hope everyone sickly is on the mend..

Have emailed you back JW and TYG..Would be great to see you too Tam and anyone else..AM? Juicy?Where do the newbies live as well?

Has been gorgeous weather here today until I put M down for her nap.An hour later she woke up and I went outside to find thick fog.Sodding weather..

My SIL's dh has left her so it has all hit the fan..He was a useless lump TBH and she is best off rid but still I do feel sorry for her..she is very religious and would be really stigmatized by a divorce.Plus they have two boys, 10 and 6 so it wont be easy..Apparently he had been having an affair.DH and I are stunned by this as he is quite grotesque to look at and we cant understand how he ever interested one woman, let alone two...still its always the quiet ones..

Off to eat my sodding steamed tea..DH is keen to carry on the principles of the detox(if not quite so strictly)as he lost 2 stone.I only lost one and cant say im so committed..

Hi all
Lupin hope the packing is going well, you must be so excited!
TYG I would definitely go round the other houses for a nose. You can ask the estate agents whether the viewings are accompanied or not. I never showed anyone round our house as we were always at work, the agent did it all.
Well Ruby definitely has a lot more spots than Charlie did but it is not bothering her at all bless her. She is still so happy. The granparents have not had her for so long on her own before and were amazed at how much she has changed. They were also surprised at how well she is. She looks dreadful poor thing with all her different rashes but at least they've both got it out the way now while they are young.
Anyone doing anything nice tomorrow night? We are cooking ameal together and having a nice bottle of wine. We figured with R being ill we'd be pushing our luck asking for any more babysitting! Dh has bought me tickets to see Chelsea on Saturday and I am sooo excited. I've never been to Stamford Bridge before so I'll be visiting the big smoke. It's a pity we won't be around long enough to maybe meet up with a few of you but my mum is havng the kids and we don't want to be away too long while R is not right. Then on Sunday it is off too the shit hole that is Skegness to see lots of dh's family - wish me luck!

TillyScoutsmum · 13/02/2008 20:01

Scoot - sorry to heard about SIL. Tough times ahead but sounds like she's well rid of the cheating barsteward.

Detox sounds very virtuous by the way. Just off to eat chilli with loads of cheese and sour cream

Julie - your flat looks fab btw... Market is just really slow by us at the moment. Usually picks up a bit in Spring though so hopefully the recent weather might give things a kick up the ar*e. Otherwise, have you thought about a joint agent ? Sometimes worth a go, even though the eventual commission is more

Cam - you're probably right about Til being too busy playing to notice no napping at mother and toddler groups. Have just dug out my old NCT mag and am definately going to make an effort and get to a few next week. I did go to one a few times but it just seemed really cliquey.. I felt like it was my first day at school

Would love a meet up but I am in the Midlands so Central London is probably out for me (not sure I could drive in and haven't tried train etc. with pushchair yet). I could probably get to Hemel or Surrey side (don't fancy venturing too far off the M25 though]. Not sure where everyone else is though

scootermum · 13/02/2008 20:04

I say barsteward!Have never heard anyone else say that for about 10 years

You can go on a donkey on the beach though Abby hmmm? Its been ages since I was on a donkey (no smut now)

Where in the midlands are you TM?

OP posts:
TillyScoutsmum · 13/02/2008 20:09

I'm in a place called Kinver... Its sort of on the borders of West Mids (Stourbridge type way), South Staffs and Shropshire. Not too far from Worcestershire border either. Honestly, I can drive 5 mins from my house and see "Welcome to ...." all of those counties. Its a bit like the Twighlight Zone

scootermum · 13/02/2008 20:14

I drive through near there I think when I go to see my other SIL in Wales..
Only ask as im orginally from Derbyshire and we go home alot so thought might be nearer for meet ups..

Off you go to your chilly then, damn you!

Nataz27 · 13/02/2008 20:39

Tilly I know exactly what you mean. All the mums I got to know have left cos their lo are too old. Felt a bit daft sitting there not knowing anyone with emma screaming as well. Everyone always seems to be a lot older or really young. No one must have kids at 27 anymore lol!

S**t forgot about tomorrow. Will have to make a card - wonder if emma is too young to help?

scootermum · 13/02/2008 20:46

I did!I was 26 when I had Lily and 27 when I had M...but I was the youngest person by far in any of my baby groups too!

OP posts:
juliewoolie · 13/02/2008 20:54

alright rub it in you young whipersnappers. Just cause some of us didnt manage to find anyone stupid lovely enough to have kids with until our 30's. Tsk tsk the younger generation nothing but moaning.

I am 32 and still hate mums and tots groups always feel like the uncool kid who smells, I dont by the way.

Not heard from tyg but am still up for a cwaffe or something tom. scoot. Will text you in the AM.

TillyScoutsmum · 13/02/2008 21:49

I'll join you in the older mum's corner Julie (I'm 33)... Maybe the incontinence has started already and we smell of wee and that's why none of the mums will sit by us
