Well I am home with 2 children and..............

Ellie was a superstar she sat nicely on the train, didnt mind the tube, loved the aquarium (although she has watched finding nemo to much as she knew the names of loads of the fish and got very excited at seeing 'Mr Ray' pmsl)

Hattie was unimpressed at aquarium and fell asleep but woke up as soon as we sat down to eat (girl after my own heart)

We went to a little park and let them have a run around and met my brothers future mil (only met her once on xmas day) as she lives near the aquarium Ellie must have talked to her non stop for 10minutes about all the fish and sharks (we have also bought of a ton of tat from the gift shop ) My brother paid for the whole day, train ticket, aquarium tickets, lunch etc so that was even better!!!!!! Went back to their house after we got back for tea and birthday cake and got home around 6pm so been a long day.

UD hope you get things sorted and pease come back soon

Oh excuse me I am just picking myself up from the floor after falling over laughing

Is he asleep now?

Wilkie · 29/01/2008 19:06

It's gone quiet but that either means he is asleep or he has pulled something off the windowsill (i.e. a toy) and is now chewing/pulling/ripping/cuddling it

eandh · 29/01/2008 19:17

ellie went to bed at 7pm and said 'I have had the most wonderful day ever Mummy' made my heart melt

laughalot · 29/01/2008 20:11

Evening all dad update

He has a few leaking valves which is apparently very common and nothing to worry about. They are not sure wh his heart is beating so funny again its very common from teenagers to oap's, he has to have a op where they will stop and re start his heart . If it works he can stop his wafrin [sp] but if not he will have to stay on the tablets which is not to great as he loves his wine . He still has to stay on certain medication for a while but otherwise he is happy and im so pleased.

2happy · 29/01/2008 20:28

Lal - fil had leaky heart valves, but they were very leaky, which is why he had to have them replaced. It was after they were replaced he went into the funny heart rhythm so I don't think starting and stopping his heart was an option, so he's still on his warfarin. Glad you've got some answers at least.

RGee - we were going to go to the zoo or a local farm trial for his birthday with dsis and ILs; but dsis has a 9m old baby and ILs are going to Glasgow at weekend because sil is having a c/section on friday so neither of them will want anything to do with us . Were going to visit some friends, but then my mother has asked us to look after her dog who's had an operation, so won't even be able to leave the house. Just the 4 of us, and we haven't even got him a present . I will bake a big cake.

Eandh - funnily enough, I thought of you and H's bday almost as soon as I saw the spots . Glad you had a good day, bless at E's best day ever!

Wilkie - good luck for the house and for dh. When's the interview? dh and I used to live in Halifax and I worked in Huddersfield for a little bit.

get aqueous calmine cream (not lotion makes them more itchy) hattie still has spots in her nappy area but apparenty thats because of the damp and heat in that area!!

Piriton sent her loopy and kept her awake but if he is having trouble sleeping Dr can prescribe phenegan (I had some from when Ellie gets an ecezma outbreak so Dr recommended giving that to Hattie) First 3 nights of spots appearing were the worst then it got alot better although most of the time she was fine in the day (sorry if you knew all of that)

I can guarantee that DS1 will have them in 2 weeks (all friends that have more than 1 child the 2nd child has got there spots exactly 2 weeks after 1st one gets their spots) and DS2 will probably have them fairly mildly but DS1 may get it more actively (they are exposed to the virus for a longer period Ellie had 30-40 spots Hattie had 200ish spots!) Think you would be able to use Eurax on DS1 if he gets it (Ellie used to love Eurax after her bath )

So when is the interview Wilkie, I'll keep everything crossed that day

2happy · 29/01/2008 20:52

Thanks eandh! We've got aqueous calamine cream stuff and I've used it today, though he hasn't seemed bothered by them so far. Mind you, he's not had sooo many today, but there's been more and more developing so I know it's yet to peak . So far it's all nappy, torso and hair wierdly. I have a friend who has a 4.5 and nearly 3 year old dd's and she said she was told the second to become infected would get it much worse (and she was; much much worse), which fits with what you say. Doesn't help either that ds1's older so able to whinge more articulately, and will also scratch more! Oh dear. I may be breaking the medised out again! I just wish he'd hurry up and get it, so I can sort time off work. My mum works mon and tues so I'm stuffed those days, and my other half at work (I job share) starts her maternity leave on Thursday. Oh dear!! And how come, even though I know I'm immune because had it checked both times I was pg, I still feel itchy

OP posts:
eandh · 29/01/2008 20:58

Oh the hair is a nightmare Ellie had then all along the hairline of he fringe and because she has long hair and needs washing I kept knocking scabs off by accident when I brushed it (not brusing her hair is a no no its like a birds nest in the morning)

Hattie had about 30 over her head funnily enough those and her nappy area were the ones that bothered her the most. Neither of mine had many on arms/legs (maybe 2 or 3) Ellies were mainly on her back/bits and Hatties were back/tummy/nappy area/face and head. Both of them had their 'mother' spot begind their right ear

2happy · 29/01/2008 21:02

Mother spot? I've never heard of that before. His head ones are the most big and scabby, so it may have started there and we didn't even see it because of the hair. The next worse is at the bottom of his belly. I can see how the nappy would make it worse - might have to put old curtains down and just let him crawl

OP posts:
eandh · 29/01/2008 21:08

yes nappy free time was bliss for hattie, luckily enough ellie only occasionally has a pull up on at night but she'd scratch her bits whilst she was asleep

Mother spot is the 1st spot to appear and last to dissapear normally behind the ear, on the temple of head or neck. Both of mine still have a tiny scab behind their ears (and they'll both have a scar as its the same one they have both rubbed/picked)

Right I need to go to bed as I am so tired and got a busy day tomorrow - friend coming over in the morning with her LO trip to B&Q with them both in the afternoon, then babysitting for a friend tomorrow night as her dh birthday (her parents live in USA and Il's live in derby so they don't get many nights out)

Lizzzombie · 30/01/2008 11:43

Hello!!

Wilkie - I have a good reason as to why I am not 30 stone! In fact I am thinking about writing a book about it. (a diet book) Working title at the moment is "Sh*t yourself thin" - its in a similar vein to that "eat yourself thin" book. But, instead of using just low-cal versions, eat what you would normally, but also eat shed loads of lentils!!!

I am very happy as I am finally back into my pre pregnancy size 14 trousers. They are a bit tighter than I remember, but 2 weeks ago I couldnt even do them up, so I am very pleased with myself.
Although, saying that, I ordered a new pair of knee high boots off ebay which arrived today, and it takes ages for me to squeeze my fat shins into them, so I think the fat has headed south from my arse, down to my knees and shins. Attractive!

Lizzzombie · 30/01/2008 11:46

2Happy - I hope you are coping ok, you have my sympathies.
Eah - glad you survived London. Your birthday 'surprise' sounds great!
Lal - glad your Dad is pleased with his diagnosis it all sounds very positive.

Rgee - post properly please - updates on your life are required also! x

Lizzzombie · 30/01/2008 11:48

ps - wilkie - fingers crossed for your house sale and DH's interview. How exciting for you!

Wilkie · 30/01/2008 12:02

You make me laugh Lizz

DH's interview in next Weds at 6pm. 2Happy - waht is Huddersfield like? We would live Manchester side if he got it (Reggiee I would still be closer to you than Lincoln).

Am bricking it to be quite frank.

Went to Dr today about my headaches/migraines and she has prescibed Beta Blockers. Am a bit concerned about taking them as I though that was for your heart - they are called Propranol (or something). ANy ideas??

Lizzzombie · 30/01/2008 12:17

Wilkie - are you laughing at my chubby shins?????

Have you considered homeopathy? I know people think its hippy dippy, but it really works. Am a big advocate of it. Modern medicine just treats the symptoms, not always the causes. Which is the opposite of homeopathy. It certainly doesnt sound great that you've been given such strong medication without investigations as to what maybe causing them in the first place.
Have you cut out various food stuffs which could be the cause also? eg. caffine/high sugar content? HTH x

katwith3kittens · 30/01/2008 14:44

So much chat ladies .......

You know all this talk about tantrums is really scaring me. I know I should know all about it being a third time mum and all that, but I've forgotten.... its kind of like childbirth .. a distant memory.

I do remember DD throwing a few wobblers, (most notably when she bit DH on the cheek and drew blood, and I met them and thought he'd been involved in a punch up in a very full Sainsburys car park !) but I dont remember DS1 at all. Maybe he was just perfect... but somehow I doubt that !

Wilkie. Halifax is a nice part of the country. Is there a reason you would want to live on the Manchester side ? I grew up in Saddleworth so know that part of the world quite well. In winter the roads across the tops can be a bit dodgy though. Hey..and guess what ..I also used to work for AstraZeneca who 'invented' Inderal (although Inderal was never one of my responsibilities ) You are right it is usually prescribed for heart problems, but it can also be used for anxiety and migraines, probably because it increases blood flow, but you could always look on the AZ web site for more info. I hope it works for you. Did your GP prescribe Inderal or some other generic ? Shame that you'll have to pay for your prescriptions again now tho ...

EaH I am in awe of your trip, and had to laugh that you found out your surprise.. so like you

LAL I'm glad to hear things are looking OK for your dad.

Reggiee .... Roll on the 14th Its funny I've got all these preconceived ideas of what everybody looks like, it will be funny to find out if they are actually true in RL.

Lizz. The weekend of debauchery will be in Kingston Gorse do you know of it ? You'll be happy to know my childcare is sorted, I somehow dont think LO would be able to cope with some crazy over zealous bed sharer grabbing his ankles everytime he twitched

Well my wrist has thankfully mended so I made an attempt to tidy the house a bit today as it had been looking a bit neglected . My shower is now zinging as I used vinegar to clean it, however on the downside I think I probably smell a bit now of vinegar ...but I dont want to mess the shower up ... what shall I do

Lizzzombie · 30/01/2008 15:26

oh oh - are you having a meet up on the 14th? Like a valentines day one?! Where? (or is this the one at kingston gorse?) - am not sure where it is so can't help you I'm afraid. But very or you having a weekend away.
I want to book a very cheap holiday somewhere.
We have £200 thomas cook vouchers, and am thinking sometime in May. Possibly Palma, Marjorca or something? Not too chavvy, but still cheap y'know? Any ideas? ..anyone? !
