CaptainDippy · 20/01/2008 21:07

Don't be , Eddas - they are no more likely to be able to deal with him than you are and they are family!

Sexonlegs · 20/01/2008 21:08

Eddas, poor ds. And what a great MIL! Hope he is better soon.

Night Mav. Re our Bank Holidays, we get a % of them depending upon how many hours we work a week. I work 40% of a full time person, so I get 40% of the Bank Holidays.

CaptainDippy · 20/01/2008 21:10

Hope it is a good one, SPB!

Just writing a card for Alice!

Sexonlegs · 20/01/2008 21:12

NL, it was lovely down here today - about 12 degrees and we even had some sunshine!
Hope you get some good nights' soon.

Off to bed soon here. Am absolutely knackered and stupidly have arranged to interview 8 candidates tomorrow!

Eddas · 20/01/2008 21:14

hi NL

SPB, I think it gets easier in some ways and harder in others. Definatley the speaking helps, although IME you sometimes have to decipher the truth DD often has a headache in her leg I just think that you grow to know your child and know what they want. I can tell when they're tired/hungry etc. DD often says she's hungry but really she's tired.

Cd, think MIL is more qualified than me to look after a sick child, she has 3 sons, looked after her nephew pretty much full time too and has 5 grandkids. I NEVER argue with her child advice

Eddas · 20/01/2008 21:15

Hi SOl

NorthernLurker · 20/01/2008 21:30

Hi Eddas
Good luck with the interviews SOL - it's knackering isn't it?

geordiemacminx · 20/01/2008 21:32

Evening ladies,

Had a nice chill out weekend here, bought a new pushchair today - a loola in limited edition red star - its fab!!! Have just spent an hour listing old on on flebay... argh its a ball ache but it had to be done!!!

NorthernLurker · 20/01/2008 21:49

geordiemacminx · 20/01/2008 21:55

Just for you NL REDSTAR

We got a fab deal on it, saw it yesterday for £240, went to Glasgow pram centre today, it was on offer for £160, plus £40 for the foot muff. Took C out in it, he fell asleep so it was obviously cosy. Thecosy toes is like a sleeping bag, its lush

liath · 20/01/2008 21:58

Evening,

Hi Tili!

Ditto to what Pesha said - they definitely get less physically tiring but more mentally tiring with age. Dd is going through the "why" and "no" phases simultaneously.....

Elkie, sorry to hear your nights have been crap. DH and I have been really crotchety with each other too, so little real couple time is taking it's toll at the moment.

Eddas, bless your MIL staying up with ds like that, hope he's on the mend soon.

Maveta, grrr to your boss.

Hi to everyone else!

Bought a bike the other day (inspired after centre parcs) but I really am a crap cyclist, got scared biking round Arthur's Seat every time a car came past . I really do need to get fit. Will definitley be on to sponsor you, GMM.

NorthernLurker · 20/01/2008 22:05

Oooh GMM - very smart - limited edition and all It's lovely to have baby facing you isn't it? I always have B facing me atm - would really miss being able to see her little face!
Liath - you just need to practice a bit - I was totally terrified first time I cycled in York - but you get much more confident.

StealthPolarBear · 20/01/2008 22:07

night everyone

geordiemacminx · 20/01/2008 22:09

Liath - there was be thinking you might run it with me!!! Katy - what about you?

StealthPolarBear · 20/01/2008 22:13

Are you asking me to exercise or sponsor you to exercise?
No way to the first, yes of course to the second - send me email when you're collecting sponsorship?
Really am going now...

liath · 20/01/2008 22:13

GMM I'd run it if I could pursuade my sister to do it too! When is it?

geordiemacminx · 20/01/2008 22:16

5th Oct, you have to enter ballot for a place.

geordiemacminx · 20/01/2008 22:19

Katy - I meant run.... its only 13 miles... like from your house to...er ch-le-st.. not far really

CaptainDippy · 20/01/2008 22:28

Lovely new pushchair, GMM

I am so tired, need to go to bed really. Just found out a good friend has just got engaged ..... to a woman!! Was a bit ; but pleased for them.

elkiedee · 20/01/2008 22:35

Night everyone who's going to bed. Today got a bit better, I realised I'd left the buggy cover at the swimming pool and we had a horrible bus journey down theere but succeeeded in getting it back, so we walked back, probably a couple of miles. We also got a new airer from Homebase and I used a voucher so it didn't cost me that much.

More importantly, dp and I had a little bit of a chat - what I didn't say earlier was that things are getting very bad with dp's mum and he's pretty understandably upset about it. She's spending the weekend having "respite" at a care home but we're not quite clear what's happening, and dp's sleep was disturbed by nightmares as well as by D. I feel sad for him, but at least we're talking about why he's feeling miserable and I think that helps.

On a more cheerful note, LOL at the buggy shopping, gmm, hope you have many lovely outings with your little one in it.

CaptainDippy · 20/01/2008 22:40

Glad you got the buggy cover back Elkie and that you got a new airer - and most importantly, that you and DP had a good chat. Praying for the situ with his mum, must be hard for her, for him and for you too. xx

Really am going to bed now ...... Night ......

StealthPolarBear · 21/01/2008 07:24

Morning
Sorry to hear about your dp's mum elkie, hope you've managed to clear the air
CD, good news about your friend, I assume you'd have been even more if she'd (I assume she?) got engaged to a man!
So go on...when do they start sleeping through? I'm fine as I went to bed early but had an awful night and I don't think the medised made any difference (he had some too )
Well, usually find I've x posted with maveta, so morning maveta!

Eddas · 21/01/2008 07:48

oh elkie poor dh's mum. Glad you have managed to talk. Have you told us what's wrong with his mum(sorry if you have) it's very hard to watch someone you love get ill. Thoughts are with you both x

DS slept til 6am having been asleep pretty much since 3pm poor little thing. He woke around 7.30ish but mainly as I went to check him and he stunk so I HAD to change him. As the poo was solid(sorry TMI) i thought he may be getting better but alas this morning he is loose again and sicked some of his milk back up, not all I don't think Currently he's sat looking pale in his bouncy chair He hasn't even been off for a crawl my poor little man. Think he needs lots of sleep today and some cuddles but is as he's not really a cuddly baby so isn't quite right when he just sits on my lap

Sorry rather self-induldged but it's horrible when the kids are ill, makes me all , although have to say I quite enjoy dd being a little less talkative when she's unwell

Maveta · 21/01/2008 08:05

lol spb you would have aswell but i got distracted by - ooh - crippled dh, squealing baby, attention deprived cats sorry you had a rotten night. we seem to be in ´that phase´ or something. Noah has never been as bad as he is now, where did my sleepy baby go??

Elkie sorry about your MIL, your dh must be very stressed and that does put pressure on you too of course, hope you both feel better for the chat.

Morning Eddas! poor wee man, sounds very for him, hope he´s on the mend too.

Well we had a mixed bag of a night. On the one hand N slept from 8pm - 12am just fine but was then up for 2 hours and then slept again 2am-6.30am. So really it´s kind of the best night we´ve had in ages BUT BUT BUT those 2 hours were HELL. He just cried and cried and cried and CRIED and cried with no obvious reason and nothing we did calmed him down. It was really hard.

but hey ho. am off work today! texted boss to say can´t do tues or thurs this week but could work today and take it in lieu if she prefers. She said to just take it today

Maveta · 21/01/2008 09:30
