Hi all

Do you know I cant remember a thing I just read except Caz getting up in the middle of the night and calling it morning

I do try to get things organised the night before but its trying to get them to do things. Maia suddenly decides at the last minute that she wants/needs to take something that day and didnt think to tell me the night before and Nathan is a nightmare at getting dressed. Who was it said about their ds running around on the landing maked, I can totally relate to that! I swear he'd go to school naked given the chance Seriously at the weekends if we're not going out he'll run around starkers all day. I have to force him to put on a pair of pants but thats about as far as we get Oh and shoes sometimes!

Have been a good mummy today and made a big batch of vegetable soup using the stock I made at the weekend and I made another big batch of stock using the trimmings from the soup so now have a fully stocked freezer with that and pie and veg cous cous and stuff! Over christmas with D having bad cough/cold he went off normal food and only really ate mush so ended up having loads of jars. He has had more jars than Maia and Nathan ever had put together! Think I will have to look on Aitch's blog for some more ideas for foods to cook that he can feed himself though. Most of the stuff I cook seems to be stuff I need to feed him like soup and spag bol and pies and things. I think this is where BLW falls down for me.

Anyway enough waffle about my boring riveting life!

Sexonlegs · 09/01/2008 20:54

Oh Pesha, you don't give yourself enough credit love

fpesha · 09/01/2008 20:58

Ah bless you SOL I have my moments with cookery but that is where it ends!

Caz - I dont know how you do it. I am Sooooooooo not a morning person!

fpesha · 09/01/2008 21:20

Gosh its quiet tonight, where is everyone?!

AngeG · 09/01/2008 21:34

I'm here

MJ - So glad the cloud is beginning to lift, long may it continue.

I totally agree with Pesha, Caz gets up in the middle of the night.

Can't remember anything e helpslse

Izzy is still awake. She has been waking the last few night about 2am, which is hard work, so am keeping her up a bit later to see if it makes any differene. Also she slept this afternoon and didn't wake til 7pm so isn't really tired yet!

Throat seems a bit better this evening, so hopefully it's not tonsillitus.

Hope everyone ok!

StealthPolarBear · 09/01/2008 21:41

pesha
I recently did loads of cooking from the BLW blog and can recommend the turkey twizzlers, the kidney bean kievs (except I didn't put the garlic butter in so I suppose they're cutlets) the cannelini bean and spinach burgers and the lentil loaf. Made something else but can't remember it - I'm sure it was in breadcrumbs though,, oh yes the carrot, cheese and lentil things. Never used so many breadcrumbs in my life!
In fact I have never used breadcrumbs before
My idea of cooking is usually boiling pasta and I think the recipes are easy so for anyone who does actually cook you'll be able to do them with your eyes shut!

StealthPolarBear · 09/01/2008 21:45

kidney bean kievs do seem a bit dry though so I prob would put butter in if I made them again.
OK I need opinions on christening outfits for T. Apparently he's too old to be embarrased by a big white dress so:

this
or
this
Personally I'm not too keen on waistcoats (though maybe they're OK on little boys) but the Next one might make him look like Robert Carlyle...

elkiedee · 09/01/2008 21:46

Hi all, only got D to sleep and came downstairs a few minutes ago, dp is on late shift and my dad helped me for a bit this afternoon up to giving him a bath, unfortunately his help included a half hour nap until 6 pm which I thought was a bit ominous...

Pesha, the cooking sounds very impressive to me.

SOL, that Sensory Baby thing sounds really good, though I don't think I need to find more to do now. Maybe if I get to have another baby I'll see if there's something here, it sounds like the sort of thing which would be wildly popular in yummy mummy land a couple of miles and a short bus ride from here. (That's not a complaint, at least in my area we get the freebie stuff - it's finding out about it that's hard)

Lou who put in our kitchen came back and fixed the window, I hope the insurers will be ok with his charge (it seemed reasonable enough to me). Have to talk to the insurerers again tomorrow as their line for discussing open claims only opens until 5, not 6 pm as stated in their documents. It was 5.30 as that was when dad and D went for a walk so I could phone... Ah well.

I took D to the free local baby swimming thing this morning which I tried to find out about months ago and got no help from the sports centre staff. I was talking to someone from the NCT just before Christmas and it turns out it's still on and she goes every week. D loves the water and I was very happy to see him enjoying splashing around so much. So for the next few weeks I'll probably take him twice a week. He stayed asleep for more than half an hour when we got home so really the day went pretty quickly.

dp's nearly home now.

AngeG · 09/01/2008 21:57

Wow SPB well done with all that cooking!

I think I prefer the waistcoat outfit, I think jackets can sometimes be too much on a little one.

StealthPolarBear · 09/01/2008 21:59

yes, that's my thinking too
If it was DH I would prefer the jacket but it looks a bit too grown up for a 9 month old!

AngeG · 09/01/2008 21:59

Elkie - Glad the window is all fixed, hope you get to speak to insurers tomorrow!

Sounds like you had a great time swimming! It does really tire them out!

StealthPolarBear · 09/01/2008 21:59

Thank you! I have dreadful taste so I like to be reassured

AngeG · 09/01/2008 22:01

I agree jackets are better on older children/adults. That M & S outfit is gorgeous! When is T's christening?

NorthernLurker · 09/01/2008 22:02

I love the waistcoat SPB!

Elkie - great news about the window

must dash as dh needs the pc

byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

AngeG · 09/01/2008 22:04

Are you sure you can't get away with a christening dress? Great to have photos of to embarrass him with his first girlfriend/his mates

elkiedee · 09/01/2008 22:06

SPB, is your son looking like Robert Carlyle a problem? Sorry, the idea of a baby in a 3 piece suit makes me giggle! I don't know how big T is now, but I've noticed M&S baby sizing is quite a lot smaller than Mothercare or Next (or the other sources of D's clothes - mostly those 2 plus Tesco/Sainsbury).

StealthPolarBear · 09/01/2008 22:16

No, DH will not let me buy a Christening dress, though it is tempting! And think of how easy it would be to get him to behave when he's older - threatening to show mates or girlfriends as you say Ange should make him toe the line.
I suppose there are plenty of things worse to look like than Robert Carlyle! But now I've thought of it I'd be giggling through the service. The christening is on the 3rd of Feb, and I've just noticed M&S do free delivery for £30 so I might order myself something nice (and £8 ) rather than trekking about.
elkie, when you say smaller, do you mean if I buy it in a 9-12 month one it might not be as big as I'd expect? (sorry, brain not working well at the moment). That will do nicely, he grows out of his sleepsuits and vests really fast (is in 9-12 stuff now) but will only be 9 months at the Christening and trousers / shirts in the 'right' size are usually a bit big. Still I suppose he might get another wear out of it (wonder if I'll be able to squeeze him in it for BIL's wedding in August??)

Eddas · 09/01/2008 22:16

hi everyone

spb when are you having him christened? not sure i'd pick either outfit for ds tbh. It's difficult for a boy. I had a naming day for dd when she was 7 months and she wore a pretty bridesmaid type dress. Not having one for ds but if i did he'd probably just wear some nice trousers and a shirt and tank top type jumper, they're cute. Or maybe a smart jumper? Not too christeningy though

StealthPolarBear · 09/01/2008 22:19

Do you think Eddas? That's what DH said but I'm worried it wouldn't be smart enough. hmm

Eddas · 09/01/2008 22:19

just looked up boys christening gowns. NICE

Sorry if anyone likes them, not my cup of tea
