Here we go! (or should I say here wii go!?). I'll try doing a link too...

Incidentally, I had a dream last night that Cerys suddenly learnt how to blow proper raspberries! Don't know where it came from but it could be that she has been trying since she was about 4 weeks old and did it entirely by accident yesterday!

Hellooo everyone ! Well I survived the wedding ! (my DD'S had a ball and really enjoyed travelling on the Wedding Double Decker bus from the Chelsea town hall to the reception) - however I am still not well and have turned a strange yellow colour (my eyes look very wierd !) - I have been to the Doc and she thinks I may have gall stones and have had blood tests today and am going back tomorrow for a scan on my liver and gall bladder to confirm ! What a night mare ! Has anyone else ever had this ? I asked the Doc if it was ok to still BF eloise and she said she "thought so " - very helpful !!

Anyway so glad to hear Cerys is doing so well PLP - have been thinking of you !

Think I will probably duck out of Brent x meeting - maybe next time when I am better ?

love to you all xx

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 25/02/2008 17:11

Oh forgot to ask, is anyone planning to take their bub to baby signing lessons?

I'm thinking of taking Niamh when she's 7 months. I didn't do it with the boys, I thought it might be worth a giggle, see what happens.

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 25/02/2008 17:17

sorry to hear that acmum, when do you get the results back from the bloods? Bit disconcerting your doctor only saying she thought it was ok to carry on BF. Are you feeling really unwell with it?

dal21 · 25/02/2008 18:16

hello!!

acmum - sorry to hear you arent wel. i dont really know anything about what you have - so cannot comment. hope you feel better soon and let us know when your results come back

re. the meet up next week - think John lewis ' the place to eat' on the 3rd floor will be the best place. right next to baby changing facilities. Lots of different and reasonably priced foods and tons of space.
There is a carluccios in fenwicks, but i think that carluccios is overpriced and overrated. If everyone else would prefer carluccios, then i am easy.

hope everyone has had good days. I bought 6-9 month bodysuits today and toys for 6 months plus! cannot believe ryan will soon be 6 months! where has the time gone? saw a 1 week old baby in the baby changing facilities (i think the mother was brave, i didnt venture out for weeks!) but it reminded me of just how little ryan was when he was born!

made me broody dare i say.

PurpleLostPrincess · 25/02/2008 19:13

Sorry to hear you're not well acmum, hope you get it sorted soon xx

Yes Hopey, I'm taking Cerys to baby signing and hoping to start in a few weeks time. My mum is a sign language interpreter and all her family are deaf. So far DS and DD1's signing are OK but I'm hoping Cerys will do much better. Considering my mums status (proud to say she is one of the best in the country!), I'm embarassingly not too good at my signing . If you live down south you might even see her on the meridian news every few weeks, she also works for Sky too! Cerys loves watching hands moving and when I sign to her she seems to love it! My auntie is deaf and she'll be well chuffed to see Cerys sign.

Gotta dash but will try to pop back later - I'm all excited about meeting you all too!!!! xxxx

ACmum, my mum had gallstones a few years ago. She felt really ill with it, but that was partly because her doctor diagnosed it as something else, and gave her loads of dietary advice etc that was the complete opposite of what she should have been doing. She did have to have an operation in the end, but my memory is that it wasn't too major, and that when it was over she felt absolutely fine again very quickly. She certainly hasn't had any lasting problems.

I'm afraid I've got absolutely no idea if it would affect breastfeeding. But I don't really see why it should, unless they've already given you any contraindicated drugs???

kyala · 25/02/2008 19:38

amyclaramum: my friend had her gall bladder taken out just a few months after having her cesarian section! Poor thing, but she's fine now, she just has to watch the things she eats (she really misses bacon butties!)
I don't know that much about it though.

MrsBB: Isn't that strange, they diagnosed my friend with something else, despite the fact that she went over and over that it ran in her family big time! Lucky they did blood tests the 2nd time she took herself up there! )

Hopey: I've been trying to do little signs here and there, (simple indication signs as opposed to actual language signing), and I think Lolly's catching on with the hand to mouth sign but I don't even know if they do classes (will check with Hv on Thursday)

Righty, I'm off to change DD1's nappy and, hopefully, put her to bed. DH isn't back from work yet his first day back after 2 weeks off work and he's kept back to learn how to do the tills cos he'll be on a late one tomorrow (oh and he's salaried so he wont be paid extra for the trouble either), and he phoned me earlier to get me to look something up in his contract as, within minutes of being back in the building, the boss pulled him in the office and told him he had an investigation coming!! (They guy is seriously begging for DH to quit!!) Tosser!
Rant over, bk later!

hi all

i can do meet up i think, end of next week is v. busy for me but think Friday is ok.

Guess what i did Saturday night....Linus comes into my bed once i go to bed. So i woke up at 2.30 a.m. a bit thirsty, went to grab my very large pint glass of water and managed to pour the whole thing over Linus who was sleeping peacefully beside me. My oh my did we scream, he was drenched, i had to strip him off, get him changed then go and find somewhere else to sleep as our bed was soaked. Linus bless him was not impressed.

We're over our colds etc now, but feels like it has gone on for ever. Linus now goes to the CM every week and really enjoys it, and harldy had time to say hello to me when i went to pick him up today he was so busy playing.

A couple of people asked me about the controlled crying, i did it because he has always been brilliant about going to bed, you pop him in his cot wide awake and he would be asleep within minutes. He suddenly "forgot" how to do it and it was getting worse and worse and we were having to go to him up to 20 times in the hour after him going to bed. So we took the decision to do it the hard way and it worked a treat, really only took a day or 2 and wasn't too painful for either of us. And now he's back to his good ol' sleeping self. Plus it has made me realise that if i don't go to him the moment he starts balling the world doesn't fall apart.

PLP and Cerys - well done for coming out of all your trials so well, i took a look at your photos and Cerys is so beautiful a really gorgeous baby and looks so happy and secure for one who has been through so much.

Love to all and hope to see you next week

acmum - hope you are feeling (and looking) better soon.

kinki · 26/02/2008 01:46

ACmum - in the last few months I've had 2 episodes where I went a bit yellow. On the first day I got severe abdo pain and vomiting, day 2 I went yellow and day 3 I got excrutiating itching everywhere which lasted a few days. Gp also wondered gallstones - had the scan and turns out I don't. In my case we all think it might be a reaction to one of my drugs - it warns about pancreatitis and jaundice in the drug info leaflet. Funny thing is, I asked if it was ok to bf too, and the reply was 'I think so' too! Seems noone really knows. The doc did say though to look out for signs of jaundice in the lo, and if I notice anything to give them a ring. But I only had the 2 episodes that lasted a few days. I hope you're not getting the pain with it, because that really isn't much fun.

kyala · 26/02/2008 02:35

Crikey sounds like we're all falling apart here! I'm up rather late (or early, depending which way you look at it) as I just can't sleep, although saying that I'm feeling a little more sleepy now that I've been nosing around the internet!

Hope you're all getting a better night's sleep than I am!

dal21 · 26/02/2008 07:05

Hopey - had looked into baby signing but tbh didnt really think much of it. I was just thinking about trying a few of the main signs at home, but if you go and think it is great, then let me know.

I do need to find something to do with Ryan - the local playgroup I have been a few times too starts at 11.40 which is now slap bang in the middle of his lunch. Anyone else doing anything with their LO's that they rate? Think I am going to take him swimming - just to a baby session without tuition. Otherwise here they are ask for commitment to 10 lessons which I think is a bit much.

Sophus - yay! hope you can defo make it. Poor you and linus.

Kyala - you have to sleep!!! Have you tried reading when you cannot sleep? I always find it more relaxing than anything else...

Hope everyone is ok.

sophus · 26/02/2008 11:13

Dal- i go swimming with Linus, don't do classes, just go with a few other mums and babies, don't see the point of classes, i do it to have fun and to exhaust Linus - most of the things i do with him are to exhaust him to be honest as he is such a bundle of energy, plus he gets bored with too much home time. I do yoga with him every week as well (god i'm sounding poncey) - which he loves more than anything, just laughs throughout the entire class. And he is asleep for two hours withing 5 minutes of leaving. Our local library do story time for babies, which is more a case of singing nursery rhymes. He likes that because he likes hanging out with other babies and trying to steal their toys.
Where i live is baby central so there is lots to do with them - too much sometimes.

kyala · 26/02/2008 15:44

It's quiet here today!
Yes Dal I know I have to sleep, my mind was so boggled by DH's boss that it just was not possible (one day back after 2 weeks off and we're practically at each other's throats through the stress of it all)
DH has just phoned me to say he's just handed his notice in (bit of a relief), it's 4 weeks notice but he wont be going back in once he's been paid in 2 weeks, he'll have enough money to keep us going for about 6 weeks so plenty of time for interviews and what-not. He's applied for about 6/7 in the last couple of days, everything from prison officer to some sort of sales thing-y (tbh I wasn't really paying attention, was still fuming at his boss. . .)

So, there you go.
Last night wasn't too bad, played a couple of games and edited my facebook profile. When I went to bed gave Lolly a sneaky bottle which kept her going until 10, but that didn't stop DD1 waking up and buggin the crap out of us at half 8 Had hoped she'd jump into bed with us and settle but she wanted to go downstairs etc. (Am slightly annoyed that DH got up and sorted himself out leaving DD1 to carry on bugging me, fair enough she was a bit reluctant to get changed but she was just as reluctant when I finally got out of bed and had to change her etc man logic, go figure!)

Anywho, am feeling a little better, Dh is giving me a list to go into Citizen's Advice with on Thursday so we should be totally clear on where he stands with work etc (pretty sure the guy is pushing him that much that he could walk out and screw him for constructive dismissal, the guy is making our lives hell! DH is rota'd down for nearly 60 hours this week and is done in such a way that he would only get to see DD1 a total of. . . wait fo it. . . 11 hours, in 7 days!!! The guy is a total moron and should be shot.)

Dh has promised me that if he doesn't smack him when he leaves I can go in all goth'd up and smack him! I'm not a violent person at all but the past few months have torn me apart, it's not exactly making it easy to cope with the girl's when DH is being told he has to work such stuuuupid shifts, and he's worked out that he's being paid nearly £200 less than he should be (per year) so he's going to ask for that before he goes too.
ARGGGH! Rant over, I'm pooped!

kinki · 26/02/2008 16:38

Oh, kyala, I read that last bit as 'I've pooped'. I thought crikey, things are bad if you're crapping yourself.

On a more serious note, sorry to hear things are so difficult for you and dh. Sounds like he's done the best thing handing his notice in. I hope something better comes his way nice and quickly for you both. Never had you down as a violent person! You always come across as being very gentle! But if lamping the boss is what it takes, you go girl! Oh, btw, is there not something in the European Working Time Directive that says thou shalt not work more than 48 hours a week. I know there is a get out clause in that the 48 hrs/wk thing is to be averaged out over a number of weeks, but I wonder if there is something in it that might help. There is a bit about here.

Anyway, reason I'm on here is to invite you all for an early glass of wine. I've opened a bottle and I'm alone here, apart from the kiddies, so anyone care for one?

Arbensmum · 26/02/2008 16:43

I didn't realise you were on ffacebook Kyala, are you on the mumsnet group there aswell?

kyala · 26/02/2008 16:57

Ooh no! Will have to check it out!
I've only just got onto Facebook, I was using MySpace for quite a while, then realised that my friends were all now using Facebook (and my DH logged on there and set up a profile, that's when I knew I was well behind in the trend lol)

kyala · 26/02/2008 17:05

Found it and put in a request to join

MrsFish · 26/02/2008 17:35

I would love a glass of wine kinki but I have given it up for lent in a desperate bid to help me lose some weight
