@bewitchingnight how do you work out which size you need? Never really knew what they were for before now & not sure she'd take to them to be honest. I just wish she'd take a bottle or sippy cup!

Scotti84 · 07/03/2022 11:38

@AdventuresAwait we put a hot water bottle in her bed before she falls asleep on me, then take it out when i put her down, doesn't always work but more often than not. A friend of mine suggested it, makes sense moving from sleeping warm on us into a cold bed would wake them.

bewitchingnight · 07/03/2022 12:35

@GWhiteley ah fair enough, mine doesn't take bottles either. They're done in mm I found that the ones they stocked in boots were gigantic compared to the actual size of my nipple so went for a smaller size. It's so tough when you're sore because feeding is so relentless, sending lots of sympathy x

GWhiteley · 07/03/2022 12:43

@Scotti84 yes I do that during the night actually & works a treat with Alyssa!

AdventuresAwait · 07/03/2022 14:25

Thanks @bewitchingnight and @Scotti84, I'll have a try! Xx

AdventuresAwait · 07/03/2022 14:26

Anyone else not had any rolling over yet?? Xx

Bubbles1st · 07/03/2022 19:28

@AdventuresAwait daytime sleeping has miraculously got better in the last few days for us. From only having a long nap if it was Contact for the last 3 months I started to the Moses basket again and he only blooming goes down in it! I have to lay him in his side and lay him bum whilst the white noise is on but it it gets me 1.5 hour nap time I'm all for it!

Reference rolling, he can roll and has done it each each way maybe 3 times, but ultimately he isn't interested. He has been sitting independently for weeks and can move backwards and a full 360 so there is no reason for him to roll that he can see is my thinking 🤔

AdventuresAwait · 07/03/2022 21:38

Great about the naps @Bubbles1st!
And wow! fab that he can roll, sit and is beginning to move x

Scotti84 · 09/03/2022 13:38

Anyone given baby eggs yet? Im seeing lots of conflicting info about whether its ok or not and what type.

AdventuresAwait · 09/03/2022 14:09

@Scotti84, eggs are being introduced here on Saturday! I tend to do allergens at lunchtime and prefer to do it when my husband is here too. I read that they need to have the lion stamp and cooked well but that's all, according to my books and the app I follow? What have you seen? Xx

Scotti84 · 09/03/2022 15:25

Ive read between 4 and 6 months and they are less likely to have a reaction, another site said omelette fingers are good, another said hard cooked only so no scrambled eggs (which was my original plan) another said only egg yolk as the allergy comes from the whites... then there's the horror stories about swelling faces etc

AdventuresAwait · 09/03/2022 15:57

@Scotti84, I hadn't heard the horror stories... 😳 Is it more of a concern with eggs than the other allergens? I had read hard cooked, scrambled or omelette fingers (in different places). Will have another look xx

Scotti84 · 09/03/2022 17:06

Its probably just the odd story, but the reactions can be quite bad, DH and i don't have any allergies so i think she should be ok, but apparently they can swell up and need to be in hospital if its quite bad. I think i might start with yolk and just a bit of the white, see how that is, then build up if shes ok.

Bubbles1st · 09/03/2022 18:31

@Scotti84 we had omelette, French toast and pan cakes, so assuming no issues here.

Think tomato so far is the only mild reaction he has had and not even a listed allergen so you never know.

Scotti84 · 09/03/2022 19:36

@Bubbles1st thats good to know, thank you.

CherLW · 09/03/2022 21:02

@AdventuresAwait I’m going to make omelette fingers when I do the egg and just give him a little at a time. I try not to read to many of the bad things as it will make me panic too much 🤦🏻‍♀️ Xx

AdventuresAwait · 09/03/2022 22:16

Me too @CherLW! I'll probably do omelette too xx

AdventuresAwait · 09/03/2022 22:18

Sounds like it's going well @Bubbles1st! When did you start? Is he enjoying the different foods? Xx

Bubbles1st · 10/03/2022 08:30

@AdventuresAwait as soon as it was sitting up straight himself, I couldn't stand him swiping at my dinner plate any longer 🤣 he was 5 months and a week I think, but the first couple of weeks he definitely wasn't eating anything and now 4 weeks later still very little actually gets swallowed but he is loving it over all

AdventuresAwait · 10/03/2022 08:43

That's great @Bubbles1st! And encouraging as mine isn't eating very much but enjoys exploring. But it is only the 2nd week. Will keep introducing foods and let her explore. Thanks for sharing. I've got no friends with babies so it's great to chat and share experiences xx

bewitchingnight · 10/03/2022 10:07

Interesting to hear the weaning progress. So far despite everything else going straight in her mouth no food as made it even close yet, I was so surprised! Thought she'd be straight for it but doesn't seem as interested now I'm not trying to stop her taking it 🤣

Scotti84 · 10/03/2022 12:42

Were doing a bit of both with Lilly because i want to make sure she gets something in her stomach so i give her purees, veg and potatos etc that i batch make and freeze, and then i give her bits like banana and Avocado (and soon omelette) that she can pick up herself and try. That way im happy shes getting nutrients but shes also able to test things for herself.

I do agree though @bewitchingnight when its something shes supposed to eat its suddenly less attractive than anything else she can get her hands on and try and fit in her mouth, the TV remote is her favorite atm 🙄 (i dont let her eat it, just to be clear but she tries!)

Scotti84 · 11/03/2022 15:40

Egg Update: did not need to worry, Lilly immensely enjoyed picking the omelette pieces up in fistfulls.... then sucking on the end while looking entirely disgusted and throwing them on the floor 😅

GWhiteley · 12/03/2022 00:02

I'm just starting with Alyssa & have given her a few spoonfuls with a bit on the end of carrot, broccoli & mashed potato. Should I be giving her more?

Bubbles1st · 12/03/2022 03:47

@GWhiteley food before 1 is just for fun.
All the nutrition she needs should still come from milk so offer foods on a reasonably full belly so that the food doesn't displace that for not.
I think the guidance is one meal until 9 months, then 2 and 3 meals by 12 months.

Once she comes to grips with eating though and does increase to bigger portions that's when you need to make sure the meals are nutritiously balanced but in these early days a few tastes like you're doing should be fine.
