BAHAHAHAHA

oh norty do tell where you posted your bogey message?

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 10/01/2008 08:59

I think you are right Fury, it is the innocence that upsets people. But I just can't get worked up over animal rights.

How's DS doing anyway?

HellHathNoFury · 10/01/2008 09:04

DS is much better!!

The GP found the problem (a solid ball of mucous behind each ear that was creating a pressure buildup apparently).

I was getting pretty worried a he had hardly eaten for a week.

He gave us some meds to help break up the goo and lo and behold, he is eating like his parents again and well on the road to recovery. He woke up twice last night to consume vast amounts but otherwise we got sleep!

Bumper how is DD?

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 10/01/2008 09:06

LOL norty! You don't have to blush here either or defend your washing! There is this reverse competitive mummy thing isn't there? You get the who's LO is most advance, who is giving them chinese lessons at 6 months, then the opposite, the "who can be the most relaxed, chilled mummy" "oh I never wash my children, I'm just so relaxed you know..." "What? You worry about sterilising? Oh gosh, we feed our little urchin dirt because we are so chilled in this house". It makes you feel very PFB!

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 10/01/2008 09:11

Ouch! Poor ds! Bless him.

DD is mostly a delight (and when she isn't it's usually my falut rather than hers - I have low tolerance levels when tired and hungry!). She is currently mauling a pear to death

LittleMissNorty · 10/01/2008 09:18

Blimey Bumper, how do you cope with the mess of BLW? Would send me demented......must go and do some housework....

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 10/01/2008 09:46

It does send me demented, and I'm not even anal. It's just so tedious! To be fair very little of it goes on the floor, it's just all over the high chair and DD!

HellHathNoFury · 10/01/2008 09:48

I have to say - letting him feed himself is fine sometimes and he loves it but most of the time give me a bowl and let me do it, much quicker, much cleaner.

Especially given he eats a lot of custard and yoghurt and stuff.

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 10/01/2008 10:03

She was spoon fed curry the other day (though not by me by SIL), she loved it btw, someone asked a couple of days ago and i forgot to answer! I do like the principles of BLW though, so that keeps me going. If we have anything that requires a spoon I might try letting her use a spoon herself. The way i figure it, hopefully she will learn to feed herself sooner. I guess you have to go through the mess a some point, I'm just going through it sooner!

HellHathNoFury · 10/01/2008 10:07

Very true!!

What I like to do is put the food on the spoon and he holds it and I guide his hand. That way he feels 'in charge' and I there is (sometimes) less mess.

But tbh the way I look at it is...we all learn to feed ourselves, walk, talk, wipe our own bums eventually, so I am not in any hurry lol

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 10/01/2008 10:09

morning all I'm with norty on the washing mine gets top and tailed in the morning and bath at night with his big bruv
I am a bit ocd though
also I had forgotten how farking messy weaning is seem to spend all day cleaning the floor aagh
I shop from ocado waitrose which is a bit more expensive but cos I do it on line I'm not tempted in the shop well that is my excuse waitrose I think comes out best in terms of animal welfare etc etc

milkyJammy · 10/01/2008 10:26

I know what you mean by not being tempted in the shop Andiem. A packet of biscuits on the shelf looks much more tempting than the words "Hobnobs" (or whatever) on the screen. However, you don't get the "last day of sale" reductions online so DH still goes to the supermarket in person. Practically all of our main meals come from that section!

sputnik · 10/01/2008 10:27

i tried to spoon feed some risotto the other day and he just grabbed the spoon. Tip wth rice caes Jammy is to spread something on them so as to help it stic to their hands. i favour that pear and apple concentrated spread it's really gluey.
On the whole though yes what a faff.

mellymell · 10/01/2008 10:27

morning all.

I'm also with norty on the washing, although I actually give him a bath twice daily - he's got tricky excema skin, so he gets an oily bath and moistoriser twice daily - quel fag, but it helps prevent the horrible red welt - also he gets to play with all his bath toys and wave bye bye to the water.

Andie - I shop at ocado too - find my shopping bill at least £50 less if I do it online - it means that a) I tend to stick to my list more and b) I don't have to take DH with me who has a tendency to load up the trolley with wine, puddings and more wine. Waitrose have a good line on animal welfare too which is why I like it, and truly believe that 'happy' chickens taste better.

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 10/01/2008 10:33

Fury if I could bfed until she was old enough to feed herself/wipe her own bum I would! less mess and less bad smells! FWIW I'm not BLWing coz I want her to be first at feeding herself or something wanky like that - you know that don't you? My point was that although BLW is messy, hopefully it won't be messy for long as she will be used to feeing herself.

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 10/01/2008 10:36

Oh, I miss waitrose!

Ooh, sputnik I managed to find some of that pear and apple spread. it looks quite gross actually! dd wasn't impressed with it on a rice cake either. what else can i do with it?

milkyJammy · 10/01/2008 10:38

Sputnik, I LOVE that apple & pear stuff. Mmm, if I bought a pot in I doubt much of it would end up on C's rice crackers. I suspect most of it would end up on my toast .

HellHathNoFury · 10/01/2008 10:38

No I understand why

I think what I am saying today is coming out wrong though. I have even had funny looks from the seriously odd guy next to me who dressed like a street mime. If he thinks I am odd surely there is no hope.

milkyJammy · 10/01/2008 10:38

Put it on YOUR toast Bumper.

milkyJammy · 10/01/2008 10:39

Or just dip your finger in and lick away

milkyJammy · 10/01/2008 10:40

Morning mellymell btw - are you someone I know with a different disguise on today?

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 10/01/2008 10:50

tbh bumper I'm with you on the ex bf until they can eat fish and chips it was so much easier than weaning am going out for lunch today and tomorrow so have to take all this crap whereas before all I needed was my chest

thisisRialifebaby · 10/01/2008 10:50

Morning. Suppose I should address the housework today, but I truly can't be arsed.

DS2 looks a little like a rugby player today.

Back later.

OP posts:
andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 10/01/2008 10:53

what make is the spread sounds interesting?
must go and put some slap on so I don't scare my friend back later

sputnik · 10/01/2008 10:56

Well I'm really doing BLW in hope of having a less fussy and more independent eater tbh. I was moaning to a friend the other day about DD's fussiness, then it emerged that her DS, 3 1/4 so a couple of months younger than DD, still has to be spoon fed if she wants him to to eat anything other than fish fingers! I know that she was giving him purees up to at least 1 1/2.

Re chickens etc., this is going to sound strange from a veggie but I'm not too fussed about animal rights as opposed to human ones. I buy free range eggs. I have seen a battery farm and it was not a pretty sight, or smell, and that was quite a small one. However chickens, in the end, have small brains and their plight bothers me less than eg. preventable child deaths from malaria, aids orphans, various political and economic injustics prepetuated round the world on innocent people who did not ask to be born into that situation. Well I could go on but probably best not.
