whoops
two last ones, evidently

HellHathNoFury · 09/01/2008 20:02

oh jeez I killed the thread again

foxythesnowman · 09/01/2008 20:04

I buy free-range chooks and eggs. There's a huge difference in taste and quality imho. And price, but its my compromise. Can't quite bring myself to spend on Organic meat yet.

She's fine thanks Norty. Funnily enough the HV called me this evening to check up on us . She asked if we had had our referral to the hospital and how much did she weigh at that visit? The Doctor wanted to know. Well if the Dr wanted to know, she'll have seen the Consultant's letter to her which she copied to me.

My words were "I am SO pleased I didn't take your advice. She's absolutely fine thanks."

And it felt GOOD.

foxythesnowman · 09/01/2008 20:04

Oh, that's my local shopping centre on The Bill

HellHathNoFury · 09/01/2008 20:05

LOL Foxy good on you

FairyFay · 09/01/2008 20:09

Helloooooo, I'm back. Witha rather delicious 9if I do say so myself) risotto to scoff. My ney year's resolution was to cook more interesting food and I am quite pleased with myself so far. I can see the novelty wearing off soon though

That's acarey stuff about tesco.

HellHathNoFury · 09/01/2008 20:10

mmm what sort of risotto?

FairyFay · 09/01/2008 20:10

Hmm, maybe my new year's resolutions should have included improving my typing

FairyFay · 09/01/2008 20:11

parmsesan and mushroom with crispy bacon on top. It is rather scrummy

milkyJammy · 09/01/2008 20:11

My local Sainsburys (where we shop) was on TV last year for bad practices at the deli. We don't buy much, if any, from the deli thugh so we weren't bothered. Also thought while ours was featured most supermarkets likely to be as bad.

I only (knowingly) eat free range chicken. Even though it means practically saying goodbye to eating chicken out and only having it occasionally at home. But it is something I feel very strongly about.

LittleMissNorty · 09/01/2008 20:11

Well if the doctor wanted to know, or the HV, you'd of thought they would have been interested back in December when she had her appointment ....bloody useless bunch....did you get any response from your complaint to Kings?

Sorry for being thick, what are free range chooks?

FairyFay · 09/01/2008 20:13

chooks = chickens

LittleMissNorty · 09/01/2008 20:15

Thanks

Your Xmas pics are lovely Fairy

HellHathNoFury · 09/01/2008 20:25

I am off to bed. I am severely lacking on the sleep front. Night all.

thisisRialifebaby · 09/01/2008 20:29

little bugger didn't go to sleep, I did, and becase baggins woke up DH decided he needed feeding and came to find me asleep again. So now feel like a fuzzy idiot, DH is putting the curly monster to bed.

I buy free range eggs (sometimes double yolkers) from a local farm shop, in winter I get sacks of carrots from a farm on the A64 near York and potatoes from a local farm. We sometimes go to farmers markets (DH is like a pig in poo though and spends too much). TBH I don't give a lot of thought to where my food comes from. I would rather get it delivered to me on a plate in an ideal world all nicely ready to eat with no shopping/cooking involved. Wouldn't it be great if we could go back to the days of rearing a pig for meat in our own gardens? I wouldn't have chickens though, they shit everywhere! I don't eat lamb cos DF was a (very ethical) sheep farmer and I can't bear the smell. (Love sheep-dip though, wish I could use it on nits...)

milkyJammy · 09/01/2008 20:42

I'm off too. Hope everyone has a good, restful, night.

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 09/01/2008 21:23

Hi all, just popping in. feel much calmer after a bath and some lavender chocolate (sound rank but is actually yummy!).

I am with Fury on Tescos. I know that most of them are as bad as each other. I watched that documentary a while back on bad supermarket practices, but Tescos just seems the worst, and the amount of times I have had to take fruit or veg back cause it was mouldy...

Still I do shop in supermarket, like you guys for the convenience and the price. Though having watched that Hugh Toffy Pants Chicken run last night I must say I am pretty much converted to free range chicken. Tis only a couple of quid more usually and after watching that i think it is worth it, for the quality if nothing else.

As an aside though what really pisses me off is people who get really upset over animal welfare and don't care two hoots about humanitarian crises, people who flick past reports on Darfur, Kenya, rape, murder child abuse in the papers then go "oh look at the poor puppy abused by it's owners", yes it's sad but the response just seems disproportionate.

justbeme · 09/01/2008 21:24

Thanks for the Tescos link Fury!
On well, we took our hoover back to them tonight -bought it in May and never liked it - it kept clogging up, was very noisy and smelt abit of burning (not much) - so as within 12 mths - and was said it was faulty (wasnt really!!) we got a refund! It was so fierce it ripped through some trousers that I accidently ran over the hem of!!

I hate buying hoovers though - they all seem to need filters that need replacing all the time.

Our new instant hot water/kettle thing has got a water filter in it - the instructions said it would need replacing every 6 weeks or so - today the light is flashing after 20 days!!!! (weve got terrible hard water here).

Hope youre having a good time MHC!

So it seems that most of our LO's dont get their faces properly washed in the mornings then ? Think I'll have to up the baths - its ok when they havent got much hair, but once they do its a pain in the bum trying to dry it!!

foxythesnowman · 09/01/2008 22:14

Arse. Was going to bed an hour and a half ago, then I remembered I have DS2s birthday to sort. Poor mite, its a bugger having a birthday just after Christmas. Still, I think I have got it done.

Hi JBM! How is LO doing?

I have a bath with lo everynight (some nights all 5 of us - tis only a tiny bath too, but the kids like it). Never wash her face in the morning though, only after lunch.

I am knackered. Am home alone all this week, so should go to bed now. Night all

justbeme · 09/01/2008 22:47

Foxy - 5 in the bath!!!!!!! Oh well saves on water I suppose - (I remember having to have my Dads bathwater as a kid - erghhhhh!!!)

L is fine (although woke up a minute ago crying) - still havent had her weighed since end of nov - will try and possibly get to clinic tomorrow - and make sure Im there within the "new 2008" times!!

Right Im off too - nighty night x

HellHathNoFury · 10/01/2008 08:42

Morning all

Bumper - thought what you said about kenya etc was interesting, as tbh I probably am one of those people that gets upset over animals (a lot) more than people.

And thinking about it... I can't help it. Generally, I do like animals more than people

But I think it is more 'innocents' more than animals so children as well.

HellHathNoFury · 10/01/2008 08:45

I just mean I am more likely to donate to RSPCA over Comic Relief, for example.

HellHathNoFury · 10/01/2008 08:47

I realise I am going to get stoned at the cross or something now.

LittleMissNorty · 10/01/2008 08:48

Shit shit shit....just posted on the wrong thread ....everyone will think I'm mad!! Quick - cut and paste ...................

Morning all

I obviously go a bit overboard with the washing thing ....but its really for the routine side of it. I wash her every morning - face and bum and its a big game....its also the opportunity for me to do ear wax, bogies and nail cutting (lovely ) and in the evening, daddy does bath, bottle and bed....so my LO is washed loads blush....In my defence, she does get grubby during the day and I don't change her unless she's covered / soaked and I don't keep a bib on her all day...

I've just put her down and she's gone to sleep without a dummy no problems.... perhaps I'll cut down on the use of it....
