I'm joining in with the New Year name changes

I hope this will gradually change from LardyMardyDaisy to ThinningWinningDaisy and eventually to SkinnyGrinnyDaisy.

Might take a while

LardyMardyDaisy · 07/01/2008 20:33

wanders off muttering about eating worms

milkyJammy · 07/01/2008 20:34

Hi ladies. Back with a tummy full of pasta Have just been adding a load of books I want to get rid of onto www.bookmooch.com/ which I found on Bumper's thread. Someone wants one of my books already! So that's a trip to the Post Office tomorrow then.

HollyIsAHippopotamus · 07/01/2008 20:35

Evening...I'm hoping to become a less hefty animal, maybe a gazelle!

foxythesnowman · 07/01/2008 20:43

Wasn't too mad Daisy. Bar football and Top Trumps kept the boys busy.Has MRR discovered them yet? Hours of fun.

I, too, am addressing my size. Its all gone on in the last two months annoyingly. When lo's weight-gain stopped being an issue. Co-incidence?

LittleMissNorty · 07/01/2008 20:47

Hello - Just had Shepherds pie...yum....but not very dieting....still got too many goodies in the house.

Glad you got through Xmas OK Daisy....life is so unfair sometimes....it's unbelievably cruel isn't it watching this happen to someone you love

Yes, get some photo's up on FB....and everyone else

of all these crawlers...can't even get DD to move......she sits up perfectly now, but always assumes there is a soft landing when she's had enough .....she is however doing brilliantly with her food and has taken to lumps really well...and now drinks juice out of a sippy cup like a big girl

LardyMardyDaisy · 07/01/2008 20:49

You're obviously less stressed foxy, so eating more!

LOL holly, at least you're not a heffalump

Hey Jammy.....we need to declutter so maybe that site is the way forwards. We have loads of books and regularly try to get rid of some. My problem is I keep forgetting what I've got and often buy second (and sometimes even third) copies of the same books

I'm watching the thing about internet chatrooms on BBC

foxythesnowman · 07/01/2008 20:54

Gosh! Have just turned that on

LardyMardyDaisy · 07/01/2008 20:56

Babyboo is OK with a sippy cup, but only if I hold it. She doesn't get it all, and I think that may be because she isn't used to holding on to a bottle.

I've been a bit lazy with real food recently, but she has been so ill she hasn't bothered much.

What is everyone giving their LO for brekkie? She isn't really interested in breakfast, unless I'm eating mine. I've given her some rice crispies but am worried about the salt content. I bought some Hipp weetabix type things today so will give them a go tomorrow, but any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Today she had homemade salmon fishcakes for lunch (not too impressed) and home made chicken soup for tea (which she loved). Tend to restrict puddings but she is partial to a spoonful or two of custard or creamed rice and I got some petit filous for her today which went down very well indeed.

All the Christmas photos are lovely. There are some cracking ones of your DD norty. She has such a cheeky smile!

LardyMardyDaisy · 07/01/2008 20:57

oops that should read "doesn't get it at all, ie she won't try to hold the cup.

LardyMardyDaisy · 07/01/2008 21:05

I moved my profile, but it doesn't seem to have worked

LardyMardyDaisy · 07/01/2008 21:05

eh????

milkyJammy · 07/01/2008 21:08

Daisy, DD isn't much interested in breakfast, but some mornings will take a petit filous. Have tried her with half a weetabix (I made up some formula for it, wasn't sure if she could have cows milk that hadn't been cooked yet?) but it wasn't popular. but it might have just been that she didn't fancy brekky that day. Before she had the fromage frais things i used to give her stewed fruit for breakfast, but was never popular.

milkyJammy · 07/01/2008 21:09

Oh and she is the same with the sippy cup. Knows the bit goes into her mouth but can't be bothered to tip it up to get a drink unless I hold/tip it for her. Have only given water so far though, perhaps she needs something a bit more exciting to entice her? But am loathe to give her more interesting drinks in case she won't go back to water.

foxythesnowman · 07/01/2008 21:13

Porridge? Or is gluten an issue?

I'll stick to the Hipp/Boots/Organix cereals for a while.

LardyMardyDaisy · 07/01/2008 21:14

Jammy, I think they have have cow's milk in cooking etc after six months, just not as a main drink. DD had had her rice cripies with formula, ebm and cow's milk. I'm going on the assumption that a couple of tablespoons of cow's milk won't hurt her, but am switching to full fat again to try and bulk DS out a bit. He seems to be losing weight and is skinny as a rake, so every little helps. Me, I'm going onto fully skimmed....as every little helps!

My HV said Weetabix, but isn't it really salty?

I'm having a crisis of confidence at the moment. I got my last ever maternity pay at the end of December so am now officially a kept woman. DH and I don't have a joint account and we haven't discussed how it's going to work or anything so I am utterly destitute, apart from Child benefit. Can we survive on £30 a week?

Can someone link Bumper's thread....I'm intrigued!

foxythesnowman · 07/01/2008 21:14

Scrambled eggs? French Toast?

foxythesnowman · 07/01/2008 21:17

Daisy, I choose to enjoy the freedom of monetary responsibility. Having your own cash is over-rated when you could be spending someone elses.

It is actually quite liberating not having to pay the gas, council tax etc etc.

LardyMardyDaisy · 07/01/2008 21:18

Gluten is OK after six months, and porridge is normally OK re gluten as it's different to the protein in wheat etc, but can often be contaminated in the milling process. I'm keeping an eye on DD though given my history, but she seems OK with, in as much as she has had a little bit of bread and some pasta to date. I bought some tiny baby pasta shapes, but she will in time get my GF pasta anyway.

Will try porridge; that'll be good for me as well, but I like it with a tablespoon of sugar over the top!

LardyMardyDaisy · 07/01/2008 21:20

Only problem is foxy, we don't have any to spend....at least not till after DHs house is sold.

Will need to ask him about it tonight as I'm very nearly overdrawn.

foxythesnowman · 07/01/2008 21:20

How about plain fromage frais with stewed fruit? Make a compote and freeze it in ice-cube portions, then you just have to use one or two.

The commercial fromage grais are full of sugar. Some have a higher fruit content. M&S do one at 12% but the vast majority have sugar before fruit on the ingredients. And the fruit is about 4%.

Control freak? Me? I have spent years reading labels!

milkyJammy · 07/01/2008 21:20

Bumper's thread

foxythesnowman · 07/01/2008 21:23

Can you and he sit down and do a budget and split what is left over?

LardyMardyDaisy · 07/01/2008 21:27

We need to do something, but it will be hard as we are both used to having our own money and buying what we want when we want.

I fear this may limit my handbag addisction quite severely though

And on that front, althoiugh I missed out on the Boden bag, DH bought me a very similar looking one in Clarke's sale for less than half the price of the Boden one, so I got a bluetooth headset for my mobile as well.......serendipity obviously, as I'm in love with my new bag!

foxythesnowman · 07/01/2008 21:31

I'm just looking through my Annabel Karmel book - flaked rice is good. You make a quick rice pudding and add fruit. She recommends Ready Brek, Weetabix, Baby Cereals all with fruit purees.
