A new thread for the new "us" inside

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LittleMissNorty · 06/01/2008 19:20

Interestingly, when I done a search on the mark warner ones just for a look, a resort came up as child friendly in Portugal....where Maddie McCann disappeared from

LittleMissNorty · 06/01/2008 19:22

Hello Trace - Happy New Year to you

Lets hope 2008 will bring you some answers and good news.....Hope all goes well next week x

HellHathNoFury · 06/01/2008 19:35

Yes Norty that's the one I was looking at.
Actually - lynch me if you want - but I don't have a big problem going there really.

Actually I would love to go to Wales/centre parcs etc but I REALLY just wanted a sun sea and sand holiday, haven't had one of those since hmmm 2004?
All my other ones have been cold or 'adventure' or what have you.

But anyway will keep looking, I wanted to spend less than £1000 really.

LittleMissNorty · 06/01/2008 19:44

Well (at risk of being shouted at), I would go there, but I wouldn't leave my DD alone whilst eating out.........to me child friendly means taking your children with you!

A week without housework, work and cooking sounds wonderful

annobal · 06/01/2008 19:46

Hi everyone.

Fury, why don't you have a look on Lastminute.com or give them a call - they often have some great deals.

Trace - sorry that Chloe is going back in for tests. Good luck

FairyFay · 06/01/2008 19:47

Hi everyone. We had DS's christening today. We had a good time but I'm glad it's over and I've nothing else to plan for a while.

We definitely need childcare for DD, and probably DS for at least part of our holiday this year. We had a lot of trouble when we last went away 2 years ago. Neilson, Club Med, Mark Warner and Sunsail seemed the best bets. We went for 2 weeks at the end of september so we left it until a couple of weeks before and got a good deal with sunsail, as it's a quiet time of year. The hotel was about 1/2 full which was actually really quite nice.

trace2 · 06/01/2008 19:48

fury what you looking for and where too am good at looking for cheaper hols

FairyFay · 06/01/2008 19:50

The 'leaving the kids asleep in the room' dilemma is a tough call. DD is useless if she's up past 7.

We did leave her asleep when we were at Sunsail, but with all the doors and windows locked, a super-sensitve baby alarm linked to our mobile phones and regular checks. That was before the Maddie McCann incident and I'm now not sure what I'd do.

FairyFay · 06/01/2008 19:52

And we could see the room from our dinner table. As I say though, I'd think more than twice about it now

trace2 · 06/01/2008 19:53

tbh i wont leave mine even befor the mcMcCann incident

FairyFay · 06/01/2008 19:55

Some resorts have evening creches where you put your lo's to bed in a supervised creche, while you have your dinner, and then pick them up when you go to bed - sounds like a good option if you have lo's who will easily go back to sleep.

annobal · 06/01/2008 19:56

Well - we could all go here

Wonder if they give group discounts

BTW the only reason I know about this place is that a friend of mine has actually been a couple of times

There's also the MN discounts for members - have a look on the discount page...

FairyFay · 06/01/2008 20:00

I dream of going somewhere like that. If we could afford that then we'd also pay for a holiday nanny to come with us and babysit every night!

thisisRialifebaby · 06/01/2008 20:26

FFS, bloody computer deleted my post AGAIN

thisisRialifebaby · 06/01/2008 20:30

Please can I have a big ARSE? (other than the one I'm sat on!)

DH got a call from his "new boss" tonight (just as he was getting ready to go and see him). The arsehole bloke doesn't want him any more as he interviewed someone else yesterday who will start tomorrow, and on £2k less per year. poor DH is gutted. Suppose it's best finding out he's a tosser like all the others before he started, but it had really given him a boost.

OP posts:
annobal · 06/01/2008 20:35

Ria - that's awful. If you look on the bright side tho DH has had a near miss. Good luck for finding something else soon

FairyFay · 06/01/2008 20:39

A R S E A R S E A R S E A R S E

What a complete ARSE. That is so out of order

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 06/01/2008 21:02

Oh ria that's shit! Are you guys doing ok for money?

Fury good luck holiday hunting! Don't think we'll be going on holiday for a looooong time. I've never done a proper sun and sea holiday, except for my honeymoon. Would love a holiday on a gorgeous beach where you could just relax.

Jammy, how was your facial?

Fairy glad the Christening went well. Hope you all had a lovely day and got lots of prezzies

Trace, glad you could pop in. Hope Chloe's tests go ok.

We had a bit family do at MILs today, a belated Xmas thing. DD was very good and the ILs were impressed that she ate curry! But I wasn't impressed to turn around and find BIL with DD putting a Stella bottle in her mouth . Think it was just a joke, but I wasn't that amused!

milkyJammy · 06/01/2008 21:33

Ria, that is truly AAAARRRRSSSEEEEEE worthy!

Bumper, am about the Stellar. True, I dipped my finger in my champagne glass on Xmas day, shook off the big drip and let DD suck what was left (ie not much) but a) it was MY daughter, and b) there was no bottle or any form of glass near her mouth.

Facial was lovely And DD was very good with DH going round the shops picking up cute clothes for her in the sales. We now have enough clothing for her for the next 6 months we reckon.

LittleMissNorty · 06/01/2008 21:49

Ria ....what a total bastard....

Fairy - Glad christening went well.......have to put the pics on FB?

Bumper, did DD like her curry? I was wondering whether or not to mash some of our curry and rice up for DD, but are usually full of fat / salt / preservatives etc as I use jars and eat the very mild curries. So far, she seems to eat anything put in front of her atm.....sometimes she pulls a face, but I don't let that put e off

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 06/01/2008 22:18

ria that is terrible what an awful thing to do to someone

norty the mccanns were on hols with mark warner but they decided not to use the drop in creche
we are going to greece with them for may half term and our plan is to put ds2 to sleep in his buggy and then either pop him into the creche or take him with us ds1 can go to the evening kids club or come with us it depends what he wants he usually wants to go off running feral with the other boys
they do seem expensive but you get bfast and dinner and there is all the sailing etc which my dh loves me I lie on the beach

trace glad to see you back

fury mark warner have late deals on their website normally so if you could leave it to about 2 weeks before you may get something cheaper we unfortunately are tied to school hols now

must go to bed have to do school run in the morning aagh

thisisRialifebaby · 06/01/2008 22:36

Thanks guys. It is a near miss, just very disappointing for him. Money is something we don't have much of, hence me not joining Bumpers other thread - I can't cut back anymore!Anyway, bollocks to the bad stuff

We had a lovely walk today, about an hour, bloody steep, just outside Flamborough. Saw the nice GPs for a cup of tea and DS-baiting (my parents are SO fab). We are now enjoying a "relaxing" evening with a couple too many glasses of nasty cheap wine and some nibbles, we had fish & chips for tea - delicious when we ate them, make me feel SO ill after an hour or so. Has taken ages to get the boys to sleep because they don't want to go to school and DS2 is excited about his birthday.

Am looking forward to tomorrow, ie diet day 1. Have taken homemade WWbutternut squash & sweet potato soup and bolognese sauce out of the freezer (from the last effort!) So not strictly following Rosemary Conley by recipe, but the recipes won't differ that much surely? Dreading weigh-in though.

Re budget menu planning - do you have a slow-cooker bumper? DH won't let me get one but my friend and sister find theirs invaluable for minimum kitchen time.

thisisRialifebaby · 06/01/2008 22:37

Hi trace. Hopefully these tests will be the ones. Love to you all.

OP posts:
HellHathNoFury · 07/01/2008 09:29

Mark Warner seems a good bet as I need somewhere with a creche for under 1 year olds. Most mainstream places seem to only cater for 4 years+.

It's pricey but it does seem to do the job. Thanks Andiem. I will also keep an eye out for late deals.

WRT leaving DC's... call me PFB but I would never leave him alone, even before Mcann incident. If something happened I would never forgive myself.
I can't help but think...BABYSITTER

HellHathNoFury · 07/01/2008 09:30

Ria that is a big pile of shit
