OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
NattyThomasandEllen · 06/01/2008 00:50

i removed dummy during day first and then "forgot" to give it back to him like i would usually when i put him to bed. the whole process took 2 weeks. but advice from my HV was actually right . when we tried cold turkey he just cried for 2 days and then wouldnt EVER take it out for 2 weeks. she said it was a similar to shock reaction because he has a dependacy on it because his life has been so unsettled with all the moving and ellen being born. so a gradual approch would be less tramatic.. and it worked
i dont know what shocks me more, that the dummy is gone or that my HV was right

i cant sleep

anyone on?

annobal · 06/01/2008 10:00

Morning everyone. Hope you all had a great nights sleep. God it is a beautiful day here - I even got up and went for a run (determined to lose the weight before going to oz).

Hope you got to sleep Natty

Ria - if you are around, DS1 and 2 were both addicted to dummies. I managed to whittle them down to only in their cots but couldn't get rid of them from there. Eventually we tried cutting a little bit off the dummy each night telling them that the dummy was disappearing because it knew that they weren't needed anymore. It meant that they had the dummy but weren't getting any pleasure from sucking it. We obviously didn't do it both together and they had to be at an age where they'd understand what we were saying but not old enough to question it.

RUNNING??? [thud]

annobal · 06/01/2008 10:23

LOL well, it was probably more like a walk with a bounce

HellHathNoFury · 06/01/2008 10:30

Morning all!
Medised was sent from heaven... still a rough night here but nothing like yesterday.

I am off shopping today for some flat shoes as it seems I do A LOT of walking in my new job and the stilletos hurt a lot. Ah well.

Then I am going to do some housework as the sun is shining and it means I can see there is dust.

thisisRialifebaby · 06/01/2008 10:37

Ah, bugger the sunlight!

Thanks for the dummy advice, will try anything as DS2 is 4 on Tuesday!

Taking the decorations down this morning then off for a trek through the woods later and fish and chips for tea!

Then DH is off to his new job to arrange tomorrow, check what stock he has for lunchtime, etc. So that will be my night being sad and lonely MNetting!

We have had almost no fighting this morning thanks to the products of the 50 mintues I spent with the big boys in Toyshops-R-Hell yesterday. The playmobile ambulance and a sonic screwdriver. Thanks goodness DS3 didn't need to choose his own thing for his xmas voucher.

I am sorry in advance bumper, but it made me chuckle that there is a confession thread (I would be on it by now)

Have a nice day.

Lovely sunny day here too. But am stuck inside because the kitchen looks like there has been an explosion in a saucepan shop, the dining room looks like there has been an explosion in a laundry and the living room looks like there has been an explosion in a post office, a newsagents, a charity shop AND a toy shop! Hoob-loads of tidying up to be done. DH is currently taking a load of stuff to the waste/recycling centre, so heopfully by the time we're tidied up the house will look halfway decent?

milkyJammy · 06/01/2008 10:43

Ria, DH was given the sonic screwdriver for xmas. He was very impressed!

NattyThomasandEllen · 06/01/2008 12:03

yawns i didnt get off to sleep until 3am.. but tom only woke once.. woohoo!

my house is in much the same "explosive" state milkyjammy, i just cant be buggered no more.. lol!
ive done the washing up and the washing has been hung out.. thats all im doing!

how is everyone this morning?

thisisRialifebaby · 06/01/2008 12:09

Have got the decorations down, and because there is still mess everywhere it hardly looks any different!

My kitchen (and all other rooms) sound similar to yours ... tomorrow is the day! Will obviously do the washing up (eventually when we run out of mugs, actually thought DH might do it but he hasn't). But tomorrow I will be able to get back into my own routine of cleaning "my way" without a chuffing sat-on-arse audience.

Must get on...

Holly, or anyone else with a Phil and Ted's - does anyone know if the cocoon is compatible with the new style sports??

milkyJammy · 06/01/2008 12:34

We borrowed a cocoon Annobal, and it didn't strap in to the sports p&t but we used it for some months with no bother

annobal · 06/01/2008 12:40

Thanks Jammy - did you use the E3 cocoon with the sports? I'm selling my cocoon on ebay and just want to make sure I'm giving the right information

milkyJammy · 06/01/2008 13:45

We just placed the cocoon on the flat "bed" of the p&t, even though it wasn't attached to the main push chair in any way. Does that make us bad parents ?

milkyJammy · 06/01/2008 13:48

and yes it was an e3 cocoon

annobal · 06/01/2008 13:57

Thanks Jammy

HellHathNoFury · 06/01/2008 15:27

Ria, I am with you now on this whole holiday thing.
I really wanted to stay at the Blue Bay resort but I see your point on the lack of childcare for under 4's - we don't want to be entertaining all day either!

Why are there NO all inclusive hotel places that have child care for under 4's?!

good grief.

Recommendations anyone?

I don't want to self cater - I can do that at home - and I want a big pool and some sunshine!!

annobal · 06/01/2008 16:00

What about club med Fury? I've never been but have friends who have and swear by it.

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 06/01/2008 18:04

hi everyone been out with ils today have recovered from bug thank god as was missing eating big time

fury we do mark warner which has childcare have also been to vila vita parc but usually you have to pay for childcare for under 2s
both I have to say are excellent
club med are supposed to be good too

welcome back natty sorry you have had such an awful time

must go and do bed bath
first day back at school tomorrow so need to get back into a routine after slobbing about

milkyJammy · 06/01/2008 19:01

Good grief! Thank god we're not into holidays at a resort with a pool in the sun - just looked at the mark warner site and it came up with a price of £1250 for a week in May!!!! (Sorry to anyone who IS into this kind of holiday)

HellHathNoFury · 06/01/2008 19:05

mine came up as £4k including childcare

I could pay for my mum to come and look after him instead for less

milkyJammy · 06/01/2008 19:09

indeed Fury

HellHathNoFury · 06/01/2008 19:16

I think it lied

when I did it again it came out at £1500
Seems more reasonable... but I think we are just going to have to go without!
Scotland seems nice...hmmmmmm

LittleMissNorty · 06/01/2008 19:17

Hello everyone

Had a busy weekend with my mum here - went to IKEA yesterday (only cos I HAD to) and it was a nightmare.....so many people. Luckily we got a parking space without a punch-up ....but the queues in the cafe

Won't be going there for a looooonnnnnnng time

My cottage in Wales cost £300 in September....and we had a FAB time....obviously I like cheap holidays
