Excuse me if I've got any of this wrong, as my sleep-deprived brain barely capable of putting this list together! Any amendments please speak now, and we can start the new thread!

Hello October meeses. I thought I'd drop in to say hello. Our pc is finally up and running again but I'm not holding my breath - it'll give in again very soon. It's amazing how little time there is to do things (like MN) once dbs arrive. I have no idea where the time goes.

I hope you are all well and enjoying your lovely dbs. We are fine and "Bump" is 3 months old today. I do find it very hard although this hasn't been helped by listening to smugmums with "angel" babies who sleep through the night and who never cry. We still have 2 feedings through the night (1 if we're lucky) but I've just accepted it's going to take a while. Would love to bore you all with some of the cr@p these smugmums have been coming out with but instead of torturing myself with it I have decided to move on and find some other mums with "normal" babies to hang out with

Anyway, hope you are all well.

Piglit x

Piiigglllliiiiiitttt!!! So fab to hear from you! I am willing your PC to keep going so you can carry on posting. This is a smugmum free zone, so no worries there.

Am at my parents' house at the moment, so the poor boy is being papped as we speak. Seems that a pattern is emerging whereby Bean is quite happy at home but a lot less happy if we go out. This can lead to "helpful" comments from self-appointed childcare experts. Grrrr. Funny, but they invariably make me more stressed. Still, they mean well (damns with faint praise)

piglit · 19/01/2005 16:18

THAT'S IT!!! Bump is fine at home but the minute we get near those smugmums he becomes Mr Grotbag and I can feel the smugometer going trough the roof.

cazzybabs · 19/01/2005 16:30

Its when db is crying and someone offers the advice, "do you think your baby is hungry dear?"

btw grace is NOT sleeping through the night - she once slept for 6 hours but does spend at least part of the night in her own bed before ending up in ours!

florenceuk · 19/01/2005 17:43

Hi piglit! Rest assured there are no smug mums here. DD is another non-sleeping baby - although had advice from HV about how she should be capable of going 5 hrs at least at night and I should be trying to drop either the midnight or the 2-3am waking. On the bright side, DD had a 2hr nap today - hooray! So I napped for a while as well, and had a really weird dream about a shopping trolley trying to swallow me up.

Have sorted out my childcare for post-Easter and my boss rang me up to check that I was actually returning. At the moment it's such hard work at home, I'm looking forward to it. I know it will be more difficult when DD is a giggling 6-mth old but for now the thought of a peaceful office seems quite nice! Toots how is the script going?

Cazzybabs - are we supposed to feed them?!!!

cazzybabs · 19/01/2005 20:52

Beansprout - No I never feed mine. Are you supposed to? Might expain all the high pitched screaming and not sleeping at night

[note to self - check other people will understand comments] - I meant when we are out and about in unsuitable feeding locations, e.g supermarket

piglit · 20/01/2005 11:16

At best we manage 4 hours at a stretch at night. I've tried everything to extend that but it just doesn't work. When I feed Bump at night he is hungry and has a really good guzzle. I have just accepted that he probably won't sleep through the night until he is about 15 (years) and I'm trying not to stress about it. He's healthy, happy and has a lovely laugh so I will count my blessings rather than try to get him to do something he can't do and which doesn't actually matter in the scheme of things. Ok - rant over

Good luck Florence, you must be nearly off now
Well from what some of you have said I clearly am starving my DS! He only has about 2 bottles a week but was only getting 4oz in them, could be why he was protesting! For those of you having trouble with bottles, I think it is the luck of the draw, both DS's don't seem to care where milk comes from, DD was nearly 6 months by the time we pursuaded her to take one, sorry not much help.
Hi to piglit, sleeping through is fairly hit and miss here, he can do 7 hours but that doesn't mean he does and again DD never did that either so I do know where you're coming from.
Pushchairs and car seats are still out of favour here so this morning I legged it to bluewater in the car, then pushed double buggy (with one child in) carrying DS2 in sling, chose something for him to wear to be baptised in then dashed home again, can't believe i've been to bluewater and not even looked at anything for me never mind bought it

Beaker2 · 20/01/2005 20:22

Michmash, thanks for info about bottle, will pick your brains about it a bit more next week if that's ok.
Rickman, hope ds is okay and has a good night.

Toots · 21/01/2005 09:19

Rickman - pleased about your score - bet that's given you a lift.

Piglittttt!!!! SO nice to hear from you. Smugmums are the WORST - I'd rather be alone than besmugged. We're managing to squeeze a paltry 4 and a half hours out of db at that moment.

Geogteach - dd2 sometimes has 7oz (ie 7 scoops)

Florence - so hope you've got your packing mojo going on. Script planning is going pretty well. Although I found myself trying to work out an act one niggle at 4am this morning after feeding. Not the most sensible time.

Bellie · 21/01/2005 11:18

Rickman good to hear your score - it must give you a real boost.
Geogteach - I never get time to look for myself anymore no matter where I go -(fact that nothing will fit me is depressing enough anyway so would tend not to look anyway .
Florence are you all packed???
DD is having a funny time with her feeding at the moment - cries with hunger but then I give her the bottle and she continues to scream herself silly - and ends up taking nothing the next feed she will be OK and then the pattern repeats itself - is she trying to tell me that I am feeding her too much (7oz 5 times a day, nothing at night)? I am not worried as she is still happy and sleeping through, but if this goes on for too much longer maybe I should be worried?

florenceuk · 22/01/2005 22:41

I have spent all day packing - and I am finally finished!! Yay! Hope to pop into this thread while overseas - so keep posting.

Bellie, could be wind? DD gets frantic sometimes on the breast and keeps wanting to suck but bobs off and cries - usually followed by huge poo and sign of happiness.

BTW DD still horror baby at night - 4hrs sounds pretty good to me! But so much better in the day, she will sit and coo in her chair and play, or stare at the TV.
