Morning all, hello strawberrylace, my Ben was born on the 5th of Oct too I have another son Sam who is 2 and a half

Went to my neices b'day party yesterday afternoon, didn't get home till 10:15pm, Sam fell asleep in the car at 9.30 bless him he was knackered, he had been awake since 8am and had not slept all day, then had been running around with a load of kids all afternoon. The big news is.... Ben had a bottle at 6.50pm last night, and didn't wake up till 7.30 this morning!!!! I am amazed, 12 and a half hours between feeds, I bet it doesn't last, but wow, at least I know he can do it he has just gone back to sleep now.

Hi Les nice to see you back, I can't believe how Zach is growing considering how small he was born. I thought Ben was getting big quick, he is 14lb 15oz now at 10 weeks and 61cm tall but he had a head start being 8lb 11oz born

Anyone heard from J20, not seen her around for ages? hope everything is ok...

strawberrylace · 16/12/2007 10:50

morning - and thanks for your welcome messages!

Dalrymps - def is a steep learning curve - i'd forgotten what it was like not to know what you're doing - having been doing the same job for ten years-ish before my maternity leave this has come as a complete shock...

Muppetgirl - Henry sounds fab, i think my Olly is the other way round though cos he is long and not really very wide (10lb 13oz at 8 weeks, taking him to be weighed again tomorrow) so he may be ready for his 3-6 month clothes cos his trousers are looking a bit 'hoisty'!

MrsFish - 5 oct is a very good birthday to have - it's mine too! yes, Olly was an extra special birthday present - shame i didn't get to eat my birthday cakes till a week late cos of having to stay in hospital for a while after the birth when he got jaundice

Olly was just happily swinging in his swing, but is now yelling for food!

strawberrylace · 16/12/2007 10:56

nope tell a lie -he was yelling to come out to be sick on mummy....

muppetgirl · 16/12/2007 11:03

...and can someone slap me with a wet fish as I do actually remember saying to dh last night that I wouldn't mind having another one inn a couple of years

Me! The one who was NEVER having any more childen!!!!

TheLadyEvenstar · 16/12/2007 12:24

roflmao Muppet have had same discussion here I told DP i want another in a couple of years.......

Zach was 5lb 15oz born and a skinny boy lol now he is a chunky butt.

Strawberry, Zach loves his swing and will happily doze off in it, until i turn it off and he realises n wakes up jeez he gonna cost me a fortune in batteries and they not even for my pleasure lmao.

alicet · 16/12/2007 13:39

Hi LES great to hear from you - Zach is very cute and sounds like he is doing great!

MrsFish fantastic news on Ben's sleep! Now seeing as how we've had very similar experiences throughout you'd think Adam might follow suit but I'm not holding my breath! Sleep at 7.30, dream feed at 11 then up at 2.30 and 6.30 last night....

Polar there was nothing civilised about Pizza Express! Adam woke just as our starters arrived and screamed for about half an hour while I tried to settle him in the hugabub and took him for a walk. Came back planning to take him home only to find that Sam was being stroppy too - he'd guzzled his dough balls and rustica tomatoes (which he loves!!!) but was refusing the pasta he normally loves. So we bailed after wine and starters! Never mind eh!!!

Strawberry lace welcome! I have 2 boys Sam (22 months) and Adam (2 months) who was born on 2nd Oct. Lovely to meet you! I remember only too well the upheaval of being a new mum. There is nothing more rewarding but at the same time nothing harder. It does get easier soon though - promise!!

To those who are tlaking about more ARE YOU MAD!!!!??? No chance here! Although at least it is now in theory possible at last - we finally got jiggy last night! A bit of alcohol and very little food as well as both boys settling easily and for once we were both up for it at once!

Choc hope all is going well with pil's

Not seen J20 for a while - mailed her a little while ago to check she was OK and she was doing fine but just didn't have much time to spare. Don't know how she manages 2 on her own - my hat is off to her!

Anyway we finally got our tree this am so will decorate it later then we're off out for Christmas drinks and nibbles with some of the girls from our NCT glass wh ohave boys the same age as Sam. We are doing presents for the boys so it will be fun to see their reactions! I was talking to Sam about Santa yesterday although not sure how much went in...

Inzi hiya hunni soz to hear Jane has been a madam.....I dunno all you who had girls lolol Just think it'll be worse when they get to their teens lmao >>>>>>>>>>runs away

Zachary is a nice big chunky butt, who sleeps well and I thanks my lucky stars. The worse thing he ever does is wake up at 6am instead of 7am. I find that by keeping him in the room with me until i go to bed he sleeps right through, but then I have spoilt him and he sleeps with mummy when daddy is at work.

Also he is much more content since i started him on solids, not so hungry.

If anyone needs any size 1 washable nappies I am selling some so let me know cos chunky butt is too big for them lol

Hi all ...

LES you are a really glamourous lady ...

strawberrylace - welcome! dd was born on 1st October (Mairwen) - my ds is 5, he's called Rhydian (am enjoying being able to say that at the moment and not having people saying "what? that's very Welshy!")

I remember not knowing which way was up with ds ... things are slightly easier this time around - although life has thrown new challenges at us!

thanks for all your kind words everybody - and thanks for saying that I sound so together! ( - am obviously a better bullsh!ter than I realised!)

Had lots to tell you, but dd is squawking ... and ds wants me to wipe his bum (very glam!) just want to tell you that babywhisperer stuff isn't really for the very little ones - it's more from 4 months up - the baby whisperer forums (fora?) are great!

TheLadyEvenstar · 16/12/2007 18:24

lol just reading ya posts and about you all getting jiggy roflmao it is good to feel human again but i been getting jiggy since ds2 was 4 weeks old but then i am a nympho lmao.

Oh does anyone know where they sell slinky sexy dresses at reasonable prices am off to nye party and can't find one i like

TheLadyEvenstar · 16/12/2007 18:31

Ej, thanks its a long time since anyone called me glamourous lol.....
Just wish I could find a dress I liked for new yrs eve.

Oh if any of you fancy a giggle there is a photo on profile now of me on my wedding day in 2003 ...the marriage didn't last but I loved my dress lmao.

Dalrymps · 16/12/2007 19:28

Hello strawberrylace and welcome. Don't worry - none of us first time mums know what we're doing - that's why we're on here!!

les - know what you mean about leaving your lo. I went out for lunch yesterday with a friend and left dd with dh. I spent the whole time worrying - it's such a weird feeling too, like going out and leaving your right arm behind. I couldn't insist on taking her though - dh would think I don't trust him to cope.

We now have napping sorted out - hurrah! Anya has slept lots today in her moses basket and has got to sleep each time without any trouble.

Feeding is now a problem - Anya refuses the bottle at first at each feed but cries with hunger. Once she's had a couple of mouthfuls she's fine, but it's as though she doesn't like the taste at first - does the bottle taste funny? Has anybody else had this problem? Tonight was the worst - she cried for an hour before she suddenly stopped and decided she would feed after all.

AnyasMum07 · 16/12/2007 20:06

btw, understand about wanting more - I could happily have a whole brood, mad as that seems especially after all we have gone through with having dd diagnosed. That also poses extra problems - have not yet asked what the risk is of further lo's having same condition. Anyway, dh would never agree to more - he's far too stressed with one. Plus, how do you find the energy to have got jiggy yet??

PolarMummy · 16/12/2007 20:52

Hi and welcome Strawberrylace, another new timer here so there are plenty of us here, we can all muddle through together

les wow on solids already, thats great I haven't even begun to think of anything like that, glad to hear Zachary is doing so well

MrsFish what a sleep Ben had last night that is fantastic long may it last

alice sorry to hear pizza express was less than civilised, at least your night improved by the end

inzi I hope Jane has remained an angel for you, and glad you feel human again am seriously starting to feel left out here and want to know where you get the energy!

ejt I didn't realise that Mairwen and Zoe share a birthday, must have been too tired post birth to take in that piece of information! Hope everything is ok with you

Dal hate it when my computer eats my post and I can never be bothered re-witing it!

Hello to everyone else, with all this BD going on and talk of more babies maybe there could be some post Christmas surprises Could you imagine it! It happened to Jules Oliver (Jamie Olivers wife) she fell pregnant again when her first child was just 3 months old which isn't that far away for some of us!

Dalrymps · 16/12/2007 21:09

quick, quick he's sleeping again! was gonna say i also have come round to the idea of having more lo's, when i mentioned this to dh he had a slight look of terror on his face but then was ok about it when i said not for a few years. Seems mad saying that considering how tired i am looking after ds, especially when dh is on his 12 hr shifts, he's desperately looking for a 9-5 that isn't 60 miles away but easier said than done.
On the subject of getting jiggy, i had a 3rd degree tear, had considered it a few weeks ago when i thought was healed ok but then my stitches got sore again so am going to wait a bit longer till i'm sure it's all ok down there... a bit scared about the first time but sure we'll manage with a few glasses of wine
inzi - sorry you've been having a tough couple of days, hope it gets better soon, i get really stressed when ds cries even for a few mins.
mrsfish - wow at the 12 hrs between feeds, i would love that to happen if only just the once, longest ds has gone so far is 6 and a half hours which is pretty good for 6 weeks old
alice - sorry you had to abort the pizza express mission, glad you've got your tree though, it's always so nice to get it up, really makes me feel christmassy anyasmum - glad the napping is going ok, ds seems to be settling himself well when we put him down for the night now which is good, had to spend ages rocking him before..

strawberrylace - hi, my ds seems to be growing lengtways too, his feet keep nearly poking through the end of his sleepsuits so i have to put him in bigger ones, still quite slim though but getting chubby cheeks! He was 8lb 10oz last tues when weighed, he's 6, nearly 7 weeks old, was only 6lb 5oz at birth though so gaining well, last time he out on 9oz in 6 days!
Really looking forward to christmas now, gonna go get the turkey on dhs next 3 days off adnd wrap all the presents. Anyone know where to get a nice turkey? sounds a bit of a strange question but i've always gone to my parents or pils before but thought i'd better actually cook my own xmas dinner this year being a mummy and all!
Hello to anyone else i haven't mentioned in person, gonna go prepare ds's feed, catch ya later

dal if u not too far maybe we can meet

AnyasMum07 · 17/12/2007 00:43

I apologise in advance for this outpouring.

Have had the crappiest evening. Anya has cried at each feed all day - for an hour at each of her last 2 feeds. Phoned my mum who used to be a paediatric nurse - she thought it might be teething pains as Anya is stuffing her hands in her mouth. Gave her some calpol which seemed to calm her even though she's still not fed much.

Anyway, dh and I have had a big row tonight - can't even remember what triggered it now - something minor. We both think the other is criticising whenever they suggest anything, which is rubbish but we can't seem to help it. We're both stressed and really touchy, especially since Anya's diagnosis - we're still coming to terms with that. DH gets really frustrated when I don't seem to be on his wavelength (which happens a lot!) and then he makes comments about me being daft which are meant to be in jest but really upset me after a while. He gave me the loveliest Christmas card today and such a gorgeous one from Anya - he'd written in both about how much they both love me and what a great wife and mother I am (made me cry!), but he's never said that to me out loud, or even been particularly affectionate since the birth (he says I wasn't affectionate to him while I was pregnant - which is true as I felt crap most of the time - and he can't now just switch it back on again).

I'm not prone to depression (though dh is) but I found myself curled up in a ball in the garden this evening (yes it was freezing) crying for about half an hour. That can't be good. I feel like I'm expected to be the emotionally strong one for all 3 of us and it's not fair.

Now I'm rambling - I'm tired and still feeling emotional.

Sorry for that. I'm sure I'll feel better in the morning.

Dalrymps · 17/12/2007 06:06

Les - no probs, anything you've got will be gratefully recieved, i'll pay the postage. just say let me know how much, how you want me to pay? i live in berwick upon tweed which is the last town before scotland so not much chance of meeting i'm afraid! Thanks very much, as i say just let me know how much and what method of payment you want and i'll sort it.

MrsFish · 17/12/2007 09:08

Awww Anyasmum {{big hugs}} hope you are feeling better soon, in the meantime we are all here if you need to vent. It might be worth you talking to you health visitor too

I also have some 0-3 month clothes that Ben has grown out of already and some babygros of Sams if anyone wants them, likewise with LES just pay postage and you can have them

MrsFish · 17/12/2007 09:11

Oh and sorry to be smug but Ben went practically 12 hours again last night. Had his last bottle about 8.15 and slept till 7.30am, had his first bottle of the day at 8am... long may it continue... now I know that he can do it, if he starts waking up again in the early hours should I feed him, or just try and settle?
